Easy cost Planning & Network Costing

Dear All
In one Project can we use both Easy cost Planning & Network Costing. Easy cost planning is generally used when you have structure with WBS only. Network cost planning is a combination of group of activities, all these having their relevant cost elements/ work center combination. can we manage both this in one project. If it possible please explain in detail.

What is your business requirement ? It depends on that. Yes your understanding is quite correct. We use easy cost planning in the initial phase of project. Easy cost planning can be done in various versions including  0 plan / actaul version.  If you does easy cost planning in 0 along with network costin you will double up lannning cost.
Network costing can only be done in plan / actual version 0 only.
Best approach is to use easy cost plnnaing as rough cut level apart from 0 version. And use network costing. However it may very a/c to business requirement.

    My client uses network cost planning and option determine planned cost after release. Now client decided to use Result Analysis (RA) and want to use Unit Cost Planning (UCP).
    Now, problem is RA (KKA2) considered already planned network cost for running project. So that we cannot use UCP in loading full cost of any running project.
    Please, suggest any way to avoide network planned cost in RA.

    I want to share another two options to check its possible effects, they are as as follows:
    1) Remove costing variant from network and activate option do not dtermine plan cost.
    2) Use any suitable RA userexist for selecting plan cost in RA (From suitable source).
    Request, your opinions on above two options and any other effective option from your side.

    Assuming you are talking about Maintenance Order.
    Use table: PMCO.
    Here the line with field VORGA having value KPPS gives the Planned Costs of the Order in the field WRT01.
    Similarly, the line with field VORGA having value RKL gives the Actual Costs of the Order in the field WRT01.
    Also have a look at Tcode KKBC_ORD.

    After Double click on Qty , you have to define the formula there,
    correct your Formula which may be wrong leading to Syntax Error.

  • Personnel Cost Planning: creating cost item for Org unit

    Hi experts,
    I am trying to attach a cost item to an org unit by maintaing feature hcp02 but the somehow the cost item applies itself to both org unit and position. Could anyone please let me know the how this can be done?

    It is extremely difficult to answer your question without knowing all the details of your scenario.
    I can briefly explain the scenario I used:
    1. I have maintained IT1005 on job level to further distribute this information along the organization structure.
    2. First of all i had to run data collection on job level using method "Infotype planned compensation: 1005" and cost item that was a base for other items, e.g. basic salary. System creates records in infotype 5010 "Planning of Pers. Costs" for evaluated jobs.
    3. Then I collected cost items for positions using method "Data from related cost planning objects", calculation type A, basis that I previously set up, evaluation path O_O_S_C (I started from head org.unit) and object type source C. I did it for positions to have possibility to adjust cost items on position level using transaction PHCPDCUI - Edit Data, e.g. you can ask managers to review your defaults on position level before staring consolidation on org.unit level.
    4. Then you start data collection on org.unit level using cost items on position level. Process similar to step 3 but with different evaluation path and source object.
    5. When it's done you run cost planning (PHCPADMN - Manage) using special plan for planning based on OM data.
    There are plenty of other scenarios, so can't really give you exact answer on your question, as I don't which scenario you use.

    I have some doubts related to PS.  Basically i m FICO. 
    1.  Normally in Product Costing we have a option Product Cost by Order/Period/Sales Order.  If we want
         to Costing in in PS with Customer Project, which one is suitable.
    2.  For calcularting of WIP also we have different option. which one is better.
    3.  Settlement of the Customer project is which cost object (we r not going with COPA)

    1.There are different ways of Cost Planning in a Projects. Manual Cost Planning, Network Costing, Detailed Cost planning (based on Cost Element and Activity types), Easy Cost planning and Unit costing. The cost planning approach depends on your client. Usually if its a WBS structure go with Easy Cost Planning.If you are having complex structure with networks,activites and materials go for Network costing.
    2.The way to calculate WIP is Result Analysis. Assign RA key to your project profile.
    3.Customer projects are usually settled to PSG. If COPA is not activated, you can settle to Cctr. There are many threads around Settlement of customer project--without COPA, just refer them for more details.

  • Report Painter - Use SKF to calc act/plan unit costs in CCtr report

    Hi Report Painter Gurus,
    I am an end user working with our Report Painter consultant and I have asked for a Cost Centre report with columns for Actual Costs, Actual Unit costs, Plan costs, Plan Unit costs for Month and Cumulative. I have seen this report in my previous business so I know it can be done but consultant says it's impossible.
    The report I previously used had the SKF values at the bottom of the cost centre report and then the unit costs columns (both actual and plan) referenced these SKF cells in the formula which divided Cost by SKF.
    We have created the SKF using KK01 and posted dummy amounts in KB31N but consultant says he cannot reference the SKF values in the formlas.
    If you can spell it out to me (I have dabbled in Report Painter myself), then I am sure I can explain it to consultant.

    I think it is quiet simple. When you add a column to the report painter report you can choose from the drop down menu for 'Basic Key figure' whether it is Costs, Activity quantity, Statistical quantities, etc.
    So if you have a column with Costs (X1) and one more column with quantities (X2), you can easily come up with another 'formula' column and use the equation (X1/X2).
    I think this should serve your purpose.

  • Cost Plan do not flow to PCA

    We do have profit center accounting activated and all cost planned at cost centers automatically flows to the Profit centers but All cost planned at cost centers do not flow to the respective profit centers. could anyone please tell what is the setting that i have missed out. thank you in advance

  • Difference between COPC planning and cost object controlling

    I want to know why do we have to calculate the cost of a manufactured product by both COPC planning and Cost object controlling by order?
    Will the cost of a manufactured product be different in COPC planning method and cost object controlling method?
    if we use only cost object controlling to calculaute the cost of a manufactured product without using COPC planning wht will be the implications?

    Yes the cost can be different. The cost calculating thorught Product Cost Planning may be static, you calculate it by period it is more for planning prupose ans to set standard. The cost calculated through Cost Object Controlling is resulting from your actual transactions, and the are few variables that could increase or decrease the cost of product. For example the overhead cost (Increase of salaries) can directly affect your activity rate at the work center and impact cost of your product when the production order is complete. You need both costs (Cost Planning and Cost Object releated) so at the end of the period you can calculate variance betweeen your plan cost and your actual costs.

    In Splitting Structure KSS2 There are two Costs One is Target Cost (Planned) and Control Cost (Actual Cost)
    In Variance Calculation U will See Target Cost (Planned), Actual Cost, Allocated Actual Costs.
    Target Cost = Planned Cost
    Control Cost = Actual Cost
    Actual Cost = Actual Cost
    Allocated Actual Cost = Actual Cost of the Output Qty. This is Actual Credits from Activity allocation. This is Actual Credits from delivery of Stock.

    I am using EHP4 system. I want to do easy cost planning at NWA level for this I already activate ECP for NWA in configuration setting and other necessary settings but still when I create ECP from CJ20N or CJ9ECP I can not able to do ECP on NWA activity level. Please give your inputs on same.

    All basic settings for ECP have been maintain. It allow me for ECP on WBS level but it not show me any activity or Network in ECP as I activate Planning for Network Activities with Easy Cost Plan in configuration.

    I was able to implement ECP at WBS level, but not able to implement at network level. I am using SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 4.
    I have activated the business function ops_ps_ci_1 and also activated the 'Activate Planning for Network Activities with Easy Cost Planning' in the configuration settings in SPRO-IMG. I had gone through most of the threads on this topic like :
    Network Activity Easy Cost planning
    ECP at activity level not triggered
    I am not able to find the option for 'Create Alternate CO Version' and 'Activate Multiple CO Version' under the Easy Cost Planning and Execution Services in SPRO-IMG.Please advise me in implementing Easy Cost Planning at Network Level and correct me if I was wrong in completing the configuration steps.

    Dear Sanjeev,
    ECP not possible at Network or activities but it is not like that as you saying " any of cost planning not possible at activity level as per sap standard."
    It is possible to do Network Cost Planning, for that you have to make the settings required for to determining the plan costs in networks.
    In networks/activities the plan costs are:
    Calculated automatically on the basis of the defined price and quantity structures
    Planned using unit costings for general costs activities or material components
    for this make the setting in config of PS node Project System -> Cost -> Planned Costs -> Automatic Costing in Networks/Activities.

I wanted to know if Easy Cost Planning in SAP PS can be used to cost a project initially while Tendering process.Or is there any other tcodes in SAP for tender process? I created Costing Models for most of the possible processes in a civil project and included the labour cost,equipment cost and material cost in it.By this way can we proceed implementing SAP in our tendering department.Looking forward for your valuable replies.

    SAP has easycost planning objects available to cater to it. Process starts with inquiry.
    1) Create inquiry for customer request. Define service material in material field in VA11
    2) Create Project copying closest executed in part ( you have said 70% is engineered fresh, then project is 30 % correct at the time of copying)
    3) Amend project to add/chnage/delete components & network activities. Add miilestone payment you wish to propose in quotation.
    5) Add project no in inquiry (Accoutn assignment in Line item )
    4) Use DP81 traxn to create quotation.Easy-cost planning need to be configured to calculate price( Cost+ mark up scenario possible) There are possibilites to pull as many deatils as you wish in quotation ( As line items) from project structure. It is possible to list major assemblies that will be delivered to customer( Make- To - Order variations). It is also possible to replace Service item used in inquiry with 'Material masters' of FERT & itemization in Quotation. Milestone dates from project will be copied you can propose % billing arrangement at each date to customer.
    5) Able to revise quotation seamlessly & resond to customer changes/addtioal request. Revised quotation reflects your ability understand customer request & changes are seamlessly reflected in qty,  total price & dates.
    6) Upon confirmation of Sale, Sales order can be created copying quotation. All hard work/ iteration of commnucation with customer , need not be defined in system again. Order Acknowledgement will reflect agreements with customer.
    SAP E C & O best practice has few more addtion for Civil project ... how to measure % completion based on Mortar used & daily output of cement mixing. That will help,

    Yes, that is the key that determines how a cost estimate is performed and valuated.
    Depending on the object being costed, either the functions of either unit costing or product costing can be used.To calculate the costs of producing a material, you create a product cost estimate with or without a quantity structure
    In a cost estimate with a quantity structure, the costing variant determines the following:
    1. Which dates are valid for the cost estimate itself and for exploding and valuating the quantity
        structure.
    2. How the BOMs and routings are selected to create the quantity structure
    3. Which prices are selected to valuate the quantity structure
    4. How overhead is calculated
    You create a unit cost estimate to cost the following objects:
    1.Materials (cost estimate without quantity structure)
    2.Materials (additive cost estimate)
    3.Production orders in Controlling
    4.Internal orders
    5.WBS elements
    6.Base planning objects
    7.Cost object IDs
    8.Sales documents
    In unit costing, the costing variant determines which prices are selected to valuate the individual costing items and how overhead is calculated.
    Costing variants are also used to calculate costs for Production orders,Networks,Maintenance orders,
    Run schedule headers,Process orders,Sales document items,Appropriation requests,Ad hoc cost estimates.
    A costing variant is linked to the control parameters like Costing type,Valuation variant,
    Date control (in costing with and without quantity structure).
