If I remember correctly, you can't check it with Mail--it's iPhone only. As far as I'm aware, the only way you can check your Yahoo mail in Mail.app is if you have a Yahoo Mail Plus account (and that's POP-only according to the site):
http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/
Alternatively, you could sign up for a Gmail account, set that up to pull in your Yahoo mail, and then configure Gmail IMAP in Mail.

  • How do I set up an IMAP Yahoo! Beta mail account in MAIL app?

    Hi there!
I would like to know how do I set up an IMAP mail account from Yahoo! Mail Beta in Mail app. Can someone help me?
    THX!

Please disregard my post above. It appears that Yahoo does now indeed have IMAP access. From Wikipedia:
    "Free IMAP and SMTPs access
It is possible to get direct IMAP access. Yahoo! operates IMAP and secure IMAP servers (imap.mail.yahoo.com in particular), which are globally accessible. However they require a specific, non-standard IMAP command to be sent before login is done, namely: “ID ("GUID" "1")”. This non standard command is not required if accessed from mobile networks, typically those used by smart phones on mobile carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc... For regular internet users, it is feasible to modify an open-source e-mail client to send the ID command, and there are modified versions of Mutt and Mozilla Thunderbird available to download.[25] Alternatively, one can connect an unmodified e-mail client through an IMAP proxy that adds the ID command. A commercial software package that accomplishes this is called 'Yahoo IMAP Connector',[26] available here. Mutt-dev (1.5) works without any modifications.
It is also possible to send mail through mail clients as Yahoo! also operates an SMTP server (smtp.mail.yahoo.com). It is necessary to enable SSL through port 465. For IMAP and SMTPS access the username is the user's Yahoo! Mail address and the password is the same as for webmail access.
Mac OS X users can directly set up an IMAP account in Apple Mail 4.4. After entering a full name, email address and password, hold down the Option key. The Create button will change to Continue, allowing one to manually configure the account settings."

  • How do I set up an IMAP account in mail

I've tried several times to set up a new account in Mail in Mavericks but it always defaults to a POP account. I can't see any way of setting up an IMAP account. Please help.

Thanks Barney-15E:  I've tried holding down the Option key at every option to Continue and I never get the option to configure the account manually, it just always sets up a POP account.
Thanks Donald Morgan: that support article does not help. it has step 4 "Deselect "Automatically set up account" if it is enabled. Click Continue to proceed." but I cannot find any checkbox or other way to deselect Automatically set up account.
I've set this account up as IMAP in every system since OSX came out and I've never had this problem.
Does anybody know how to set up an IMAP account in Mail in Mavericks !?!

  • How do I set up yahoo mail on my iPad?

I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S.  I set up yahoo mail on both and have never had an issue.  I recently got an iPad Mini.  I've attempted to set up yahoo mail with the same settings I have on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.  After several weeks and countless attempts, it still doesn't work.  What's the secret?

From your home screen tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then select Yahoo.

  • How do i set up yahoo mail beta account on mail app?

    Hi everyone!
I would like to set up my yahoo mail beta account in the Mail application. How do I do it correctly?
I've already try it once, but I was only able to receive e-mails not send them. Does someone already has this problem?
Can someone help me please?! I really don't want to use my browser to check my e-mails.
    Thanks!

If you're using Yahoo Plus, you have access to Yahoo's POP3 server, so can use the normal Yahoo detected settings.  Otherwise, there appears to be IMAP access:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=325139
The important thing is imap-ssl.mail.yahoo.com on port 993.
...I've already try it once, but I was only able to receive e-mails not send them...
And SMTP is also SSL for Yahoo, so set the appropriate checkboxes.
I have configured OSX mail and Outlook and can send mail.
My experience is that IMAP-SSL access seems to be a bit slow.  But I also have a a large number of folders in my inbox so perhaps if your inbox is kept "clean" and with few messages, perhaps your experience will be better.

  • How do I set up shared IMAP folders?

Does anyone know how to add a shared IMAP folder on a client machine so that it appears in their Mail account? I'm doing some support for a small company that has its own 10.5 Mail server in-house. Three of the users in the office are able to access a shared IMAP folder (it's just the sent mail from another user's account). Now the owner wants me to set up the other two clients in the same way but i don't know how the original three were set up. The icon on the correctly configured client machines shows a gray folder instead of the usual blue. I thought it might be a subscription, but the folder I want to subscribe to doesn't show up as an option when I go to the Subscription List (by right-clicking on any IMAP folder on any given client account). Do I have to delegate who has authorization by adding permissions to the account that is doing the sharing? I poked around in the WGM and the Mail service but didn't see anything relevant...

well, you can use cyradmin to take a look at the other shared folders on the server side without changing anything. i'm going to guess that's the way the shared folder was setup in the first place.
of course, this begs the question: why does this client/company share 45 gb of sent mail in this fashion, and how could they better use technology and/or resources for their needs?
it sounds like yet another gross misuse of mail standards. just because you can share that huge pile of mail data doesn't mean you should.

  • How do I set up using IMAP

When I was setting up my iPad 3 I was only able to set up using POP with no SSL . I am using Telus mail . I would like to use SSL . Also , after I did this my Mac Pro would no longer allow me to use SSL on port 993 to recieve mail ? It will only work on port 143 with no SSL . I have set up iCloud for the iPad , just in case it matters .
    Thanks in advance

I do not sync any of my mail accounts through iTunes. I have a total of 24 . . . yes <GRIN> . . . e-mail accounts that are active, using Yahoo, Gmail, ATT and .MAC. Some more active than others, obviously. I use both IMAP and POP settings, as the need presents. I do not access my Yahoo accounts with Apple mail on my computer, however as that would be an extra charge, and those accounts are not used much any more. I also do not use any Exchange accounts, because I am retired and have no need to connect to a corporate account any more.

  • Need help in figuring out how to set up an IMAP Yahoo account

    Hello,
I am trying to help my dad (who is 80 years old) in setting up his iMac and iPhone 4S with his email. His email address ends in "sbcglobal.net", however, he is able to check his sbcglobal email through Safari by going to Yahoo Mail. I don't know how or why this works, but it does--I've seen him do it many times. Even though he is logged into Yahoo mail, he is receiving his sbcglobal mail. And when he sends email through Yahoo Mail, it shows as coming from his sbcglobal account. I'm assuming that somewhere along the way, Yahoo bought sbcblobal or vice-versa.
My dad went to the Apple Store because he would like his email to be "sync'd" with his iPhone 4S. The only way to do this is to have an IMAP email account. His sbcblobal account is POP---not IMAP. However, the Apple employee he talked to (during a One-to-One training session) printed out a thing for him that shows him how to "add" an email account to his "Mail" application on his iMac. I've seen the printout, and it's just the usual manner where you go to Accounts and then click the "+" button to add an account. But I don't understand why this would accomplish anything, because he already has his sbcblobal email account set up in "Accounts"----why should he do it all over again with the exact same information? The Apple employee told him that if he adds the account, it will show up as a Yahoo IMAP account, but this makes no sense to me at all.
So I'm trying to figure out how to help him, and I'm trying to understand what the Apple employee was asking him to do by "adding" another Account to Mail. He already has his sbcglobal account in Mail, but the employee told him that it would show up as Yahoo IMAP? I'm VERY confused.
Attached is a picture of what the Apple employee told my dad to do. How did she get "Anthony" as an IMAP account?
    Thanks much!

however, he is able to check his sbcglobal email through Safari by going to Yahoo Mail.
Almost evert Mail Provider also has a WebMail interface you can get to in browser.
THe reason to set up a new one is safty, though it's possible to change the existing one, best to set up a new one first, then move any eMails he wants to keep to the IMAP account.

  • Yahoo IMAP set up

I know this is being discussed in various forms throughout the Forum, but I can't find an answer to the most basic question of all: How do i set up my Yahoo! accounts with IMAP instead of POP? I have two accounts, a yahoo.com account and a small business account with myowndomain.com. I cannot find any IMAP option either through Yahoo's settings or through my iPhone's settings. Anyone know the basics of setting this up?

    stubbeelo,
If you use the Y!Mail preconfigured option it will use IMAP.
If you configure it manually it will use POP3.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • I have an iPad with IMAP email accounts set up but I can find no "inbox, drafts, trash" folders anywhere, either on my ipad or desktop Mac.  How can I set them up?  They do not show on my MacMail preferences either and I can find no way to add them.

I have an iPad with IMAP email accounts set up but can find no "inbox, drafts, trash" folders for each email account anywhere on my iPad or in Mac Mail.   How can I set them up? I can't find anyway to set them up anywhere.  Thanks

    Hello blu monkey,
I found some resources that I think might help with the visibility of your IMAP email folders on your iPad and Mac.
On your iPad, you may need to follow the steps in this article to make sure your folders are visible:
iOS: If IMAP Mail folders are not visible
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1393
On your Mac, I am not sure if you have the sidebar enabled, but you can enable it using the steps in the article below.  When this is showing, you should see your email account listed near the bottom with a triangle next to it.  When the triangle is pointing down, it should show your folders:
Mail (Mountain Lion): Show or hide the sidebar

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • How do you set the time period on IMAP email accounts (razr maxx)

    Hi Guys -
Does anyone know how you can set the time period that the stock email will keep the already downloaded messages for IMAP email accounts?
Mine never seems to show more than a couple of days worth at a time. I'd ideally like to be able to see at least 2 weeks worth of messages without needing to download them again!
On other phones I've had there was a setting in the menu, but either I can't find it...or it's not there. I've found the setting for how OFTEN it checks the accounts, but not the setting I am seeking.
    Your help is appreciated!
Best Wishes for the Holiday Season.
    -Rich

Hey Rich.  Once in 'settings,' there should be a "days to sync' under the 'data usage' section.   You don't have that?
