Easy to understand setup instructions?

Does anyone know where I can find easy to understand setup instructions for use of RDC on an android tablet? This can't be this difficult--there arent THAT many fields to complete! I've given up searching for instructions on the MS site. Thanks in advance

Instructions. Do not connect a USB cable to the router.  This will confuse and defeat the wireless connection.
Let's add the printer using WPS:
FIrst, start the WPS process from the front panel of your printer (Setup [Scan] > Network > Wifi Protected Setup).
User Comments: I pressed Scan, then I selected Wireless Menu, next I pressed WPS, that brought up the WiFi Protected Setup (Do I stop here, or select Push Button or PIN?)
    Then:
    open the Apple Airport Utility
    select your wireless router
Comments: I only have one router. It already appears to be selected because the dot beside the router name is lit in green.
    select Manual Setup
Comments: Here is where I became lost. After I selected Manual Setup, the following options appeared in a boxed headline: Summary/ Base Station/ Wireless/ Guest Network/ Access Control
I selected Wireless and two choices appeared: Create a wireless network, or Extend a wireless network. Does Extend mean the same as Add? I selected Extend a wireless network and Allow wireless clients appeared. Lastly, I need to Update the settings.
select Add Wireless Clients ... from the Base Station menu
Select First Attempt then press Continue.
Comments: I have not encountered First Attempt.
You have to start the Apple Add Wireless Client process within two minutes of starting the printer's WPS pushbutton method. Actually, order doesn't matter ... you can start the Add Wireless Clients process on the the Apple router first then start the printer's WPS pushbutton method.
Now your printer will be connected to your router.
Comments: Airport Utility asks for Wireless Network Name. Do I enter any name I choose or does one already exist?

OK, on the printer choose Push Button type WPS.
On the Airport software, the Base Station menu is in the menu bar (all the way at the top of your screen).

  • What does the VCRAM do and what will it do to my Mac Book Pro if I reset it? (Easy-to-understand information please!)

    (Easy-to-understand information please!)

    See -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379.
NVRAM is "non-volatile RAM" in which some system preferences are set. Resetting NVRAM will take you back to Apple's default settings for things like start-up drive, etc. Resetting NVRAM can sometimes solve some mysterious problems with your battery, screen resolution and a host of other settings. You needn't worry about 'losing' anything if you reset your NVRAM - and it could solve some problems.
    Good luck,

  • FreeTalk ConnectMe Talk-1200 Setup Instructions

I've misplaced the setup instructions.  The eBuyNow website no longer links to them.  I need to reset my adapter and I can't remember how the setup went.  A copy of the instructions or procedure would be great if someone could provide.
    Thanks!

You may want to check your router to see what it assigns the Connect Me device.  If you believe you know the IP of the device, try a continuous ping (ping -t) before and after you power cycle it.  If it is the correct IP, it will respond for at least a short period of time.  If it does, you may want to listen to hear if the device keeps resetting itself.  If it is caught in an endless loop, you can try holding the reset button for longer intervals.  Beyond that the device may have developed a defect in the hardware or firmware.  If that is the case, you would try to get a replacement in warranty or purchase a replacement.
I had a similar failure and got my device to finally reset,  but I believe it still has hardware/firmware issues that I have yet to resolve.

  • WRE54G v3 - Easy, Foolproof setup instructions.

    1. Throw out CD that came with it.
    2. Plug the extender into a wall outlet, then into your router via the ethernet cable.
    3. Open an internet browser and type in "192.168.1.240", default password is 'admin'.  Once you are in the set up screen, change all of the settings to match that of your router, exactly (channel, security, etc., EXCEPT SSID).
    3. In the gateway slot, put the IP address of your router (i.e. 192.168.1.1).
    4. Save settings.
    5. At this point, with the extender still hard wired to your router, it is a good idea to update the extender's firmware.
    6. When setup screen comes back after extender reboot, change the SSID to match that of your router. As soon as you have changed and saved your SSID, unplug the extender from both the wall and the router.
    7. Put extender in the desired place, and wait for the blue light to turn red, and then back to blue. If it doesn't turn back to blue in about 1 minute, reset the extender and repeat the steps over.
Note, the range extender does not support WPA2, only WPA.
I had a TiVoHD and PS3 in my family room go from 15%-40% singnal to 80%-95%.

Thanks for these instructions. Got me up and running. Note (probably obvious, but had me guessing for a bit) if you have activated *MAC address filtering* on your router, don't forget to assign the WRE54G's MAC address to the list!! (The MAC address appears at the top of the information window when you log on to the range extender, following the above instructions)
    Cheers!

okay.. i do not know anything about networks  so i need some help please.
I can log into my Router using the 192.168.1.1  the interesting thing is once i do log in to my router like that, on that very page it tells me that my ip addres is169.254.237.73..? so when i log into the wre54g using 192.168.1.240  (which does work for me)  im not sure what to put where it says
    ip address:
    default gateway:
plz someone help this is my fourth day straight working on this, i feel like this ip address is the only thing holding me back ,, i know what to put for all the other slots except these two.

Assigning a static IP address on a computer allows it to obtain the same IP address every time it boots up. The static IP address that you will create should have the same first three (3) sets of numbers on your router’s local IP address. This enables the router to determine that the computer is part of its network.
So here is the link for assigning the static ip address: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=7e4956723e074191bdf33777314ddfd8_3998.xml&pid=80&r...
Well if you want to connect the WRE54G for that there are four (4) wireless settings that you need to identify on your router or access point:
    • Wireless network name (SSID)
    • Wireless channel
    • Wireless security mode (WPA/WPA2 Personal or WEP)
    • Network key or passphrase
Here is the link for configuring the Range Expander: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=4d0870bf247a47e5b49b945a7a1ff515_Setting_up_the_Ra...

I got those errors like above!!! I don't understand what the
instructions said. any assistance would be appreciated!

    David,
    I am afraid that the
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE ('An error occurred');
was my fault. I had intended it as an example to provide only
minimal syntax where no exception handling whatsoever previously
existed. Beau is a student and I am trying to guide him in the
right direction without just writing all of it for him. In
fact, I am afraid I may have already provided too much code
without sufficient explanation. For you and others who may wish
to help, here are the e-mails that provide the background on how
we got to this point, with the most recent on top, starting with
the last resonse I sent to him:
    Things that are wrong:
The instructions say to be sure to use the sequence number for
the student's ID, so you should not have p_stuID as an input
parameter. Instead you should create a variable and select the
student_seq.nextval into the variable from the dual table and
use that value to populate the stuid column.
Your input parameters should only have the variable type, not
the size, so just use varchar2 and number.
The check constraints only belong in the script that is used to
create the table, not in your procedure with your input
parameters, so remove them from the procedure.
The order and number of your columns you are inserting into and
values you are inserting must match, so if you insert into fname
then lname, you need to insert the values p_fname then p_lname.
You must either have first name then last name in both or last
name then first name in both, not one way in one and the other
    way in the other.
The idea is that when you execute the procedure you specify the
values of the input parameter variable, then use those input
parameter variables to insert the values into the table. You
should not be specifying any specific values anywhere in your
procedure. In other words don't insert 'HEATHER', instead
    insert fname, and so on.
You should only have one insert statement. Each time the
procedure is executed, a different set of values will be
provided, and the same insert statement will be used.
    Additional suggestions:
Although it is not required, since IN is the default, it is
generally considered to be a good programming practice to use IN
with your input parameters. It just makes the code easier to
read and understand. As you write other code, you will learn to
use OUT for output parameters and IN OUT for parameters that are
    both input and output parameters.
It is generally recommended to store all data in upper case,
that is capital letters, so that it is easier to index and
search and avoid duplicates and so on. In order to ensure that
your data is input in upper case, it is a good idea to use the
    UPPER function.
Different programmers and companies have different standards
that they use for capitalization, indentation, spacing,
alignment, and so forth to make their code uniform and easier to
read. You may want to look at some various styles and see what
you like or ask what your instructor recommends.
You should add some sort of exception handling section. For
example, if someone attempts to insert a value for standing that
isn't acceptable, then the procedure will fail due to the
constraints and the student will not be added. You probably
want to display some sort of message to the user. You might
also want to display a message if the input is successful.
When you attempt to compile your program and you receive a
message that says "Warning: Procedure created with compilation
errors." or some such thing, then from the SQL> prompt, type
SHOW ERRORS and it will list the error message number, a brief
description of the problem, and the line of code that the
problem occurred on. You can then type LIST and it will list
the code with line numbers, so that you can tell what line
number the error message is referring to.
In the following example, I have fixed the things that were
wrong, formatted it the way I usually do, and added minimal
exception handling and messages. There is a lot more that you
could do. I have also demonstrated how the program can be
tested and the results of proper input and improper input. In
the example below, two students are added correctly, then an
attempt to add another fails because the standing is not valid
and violates a check constraint, because graduate is not
acceptable. After each execution of the procedure, I have
queried the table, so that you can see what was added and what
    was not.

    Subject: RE: PL/SQL
I am not sure what part of it you don't understand.
The first section that you included is a script that you need to
copy and run, in order to create the sequences, tables, and data
that you will need to complete your assignment. You will need
to edit an empty .sql file, copy the script into the file, save
the file, then start the file. For example:
    SQL> EDIT test
Type or copy the script and save the file.
    SQL> START test
You should see various messages as the items are created. Then
you can use the following commands to see the tables and
    sequences that you have created:
    SQL> SELECT table_name FROM user_tables;
    SQL> SELECT sequence_name FROM user_sequences;
To show the structure of an individual table, for example the
    course table:
    SQL> DESC course
To show the data in an individual table, like the course table:
    SQL> SELECT * FROM course;
In the second section that you have provided, your instructor is
asking you to create three different procedures to do three
different things. To create a procedure, you edit a .sql file,
type the code to create the procedure, save the file, then start
the file. I usually make the .sql file name the same as the
procedure name. So, for example, in number 1, you are asked to
create a procedure named AddStudent, so you would:
    SQL> EDIT AddStudent
    Type your code.
    Save the file.
    SQL> START AddStudent
You should receive a message that says:
    Procedure created.
    Then, to execute your procedure:
SQL> EXEC AddStudent (put your parameter values here)
The basic syntax for creating a pl/sql procedure is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE procedure_name
    (put your parameters here)
    AS
    put your variable declarations here;
    BEGIN
put your code that you want to execute here,
    like insert statements and update statements;
    END procedure_name;
So, if you are trying to create a procedure to add a new student
(which means inserting a row into the student table), you will
need to accept the values (parameters) that you are going to
    insert, then insert them:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE AddStudent
    (p_first .....
    p_last .....
    p_major .....
    p_standing .....
    p_GPA .....)
    AS
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO student .....;
    END AddStudent;
I have just given you a starting format and deliberately left
out a lot, because you will learn more by doing it yourself. I
hope that makes things a little clearer.
I would like to know a little more about the class you are
taking. Please let me know where you are going to school, who
your instructor is, what is the name of the class you are
taking, and what book are you using. Also, please let me know
where you got my e-mail address (from one of the forums?)
    Good luck,
    Barbara

The lab notes from my professor said
    1. your system will often need to create a new student. Write
PL/SQL code for an object named AddStudent that will take values
for first and last name, major, standing and GPA and add a new
record in the Student table. Since advisors aren't assigned at
registration time, we'll add their advisor at a later date.
Don't worry about the student's address. Be sure to use the
sequence number for the student's ID.
    2. Write a procedure that will retrieve an existing record in
Enrollment usiing the student and section Ids and set the grade
to a specified value. (use update instead of insert)
    3. Write another procedure that will assign a given student a
    given advisor.

  • 3rd PARTY ROUTER SETUP INSTRUCTIONS?

This might be a dumb question but...
I was about to buy a LinkSys WRT54G wireless router to go with my TiBook's AirPort card(classic) but I see that Linksys doesn't support the router with Macs.
I live out of the US & this particular router is easy to get where I am.
I know this particular router works with Macs but how would I configure the router?
It comes with a windoze setup CD but not a Mac CD.
I configured the same router for a friend's windoze system & both his machine & my TiBook work on it.
Do I have to configure it with a windoze machine first before I can use this?
I'm new to the wireless thing so instructions & any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    JRM

No, the router will have a web browser interface built-in, you can access it by entering it's (supplied) IP address in while connected via ethernet. You will need to set your Macs IP address to be in the same domain as the router.
You will probably need Internet Explorer and Netscape unless they've improved the interface compatibility............try IE first anyway.
The address will be a collection of numbers like 111.111.1.1 and you need to match the first three groups but put a different number in the last to be on the same domain.
You can than connect to the router and set up your WEP key etc and then connect wirelessly. The important parts of the wireless setup are the channel number, password and network name - these will all need to be repeated on your Mac.
Note also that you will need to set up the outgoing end of the router while you're there so that you can connect to the internet.
FYI the interface looks like this.
It's fairly easy but it is completely manual for Macs - it may be easier to set it up on a PC (if possibla) and just input the relevant details you need.
    Good luck!

  • How is easy is to setup Time Capsule as a wifi router

How easy is it to setup Time Capsule as a wifi router?

The following would be the basic setup steps for the Time Capsule (TC):
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the Cable modem, TC, & computer(s); Wait at least 30 minutes.
o Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the TC; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
Either connect to the TC's wireless network or, temporarily, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the LAN ports of the TC, and then, using the AirPort Utility in Manual Mode, check these settings:
    AirPort - Base Station
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    o Base Station Password: (optional)
    o Contact: (optional)
    o Location: (optional)
    o Set time automatically (optional)
    o Time Zone: <select your time zone>
o Status Light: Always On (Default)
o Allow configuration over Ethernet WAN port (unchecked)
o Advertise configuration globally using Bonjour (unchecked)
    AirPort - Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Create a wireless network
o Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Allow this network to be extended (unchecked)
    o Radio Mode: 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Wireless Security: None
AirPort - Wireless - Wireless Options
    o Region: <select your region>
    o Multicast Rate: 2 Mbps
    o Transmit Power: 100%
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
    o Use interference robustness (unchecked)
    Internet - Internet Connection
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    o IP Address: <provided by your ISP>
    o Subnet Mask: <provided by your ISP>
    o Router Address: <provided by your ISP>
    o DNS Server(s): <provided by your ISP>
    o Domain Name: <provided by your ISP>
    o DHCP Client ID: (optional)
o Ethernet WAN Port: Automatic (Default)
o Connection Sharing: Share a public IP address
    Internet - DHCP
    o DHCP Range: 10.0 1.x
    o DHCP Beginning Address: 10.0.1.2
    o DHCP Ending Address: 10.0.1.200
    o DHCP Lease: 4 hours
    o DHCP Message: (optional)
    o LDAP Server: (optional)
    o DHCP Reservations: (optional)
    Internet - NAT
o Enable default host at: (leave blank)
o Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol (checked)
Once you have verified Internet access, I strongly suggest that you use wireless encryption (WPA or WPA2) to secure your network.

  • Component Services (COM+) re-installation or repair: using Easy Transfer to setup a new pc breaks COM+????

Recently I have noticed a third party application we are using in our company has not been working properly on certain computers.  I contacted the vendor for support, and they said I should check if My Computer under Control Panel-->Administrative
Tools-->Component Services--> Computers has a red line through it.  On all the computers where the app is not working, this line appears indicating that there is a problem with Component Services.
Doing some further research on the internet, I have found several posts that indicate that if a computer was setup using Easy Transfer, that this leads to a "broken" Component Services.
And indeed---every one of the computers with a broken Component Services was one that had been setup for a new user by using Easy Transfer.  The issue with Component Services does not appear on computers that were a "clean" install.
So--I know my third-party app is not working properly because of a problem in COM+.  There is info to indicate that using Easy Transfer somehow "breaks" Component Services---but no one seems to know how it does this.  There is also no clear advice
or info on how to fix it properly.  Just some general advice to "reinstall Windows".
Can anyone advise if it is possible to re-install or fix COM+ Component Services WITHOUT having to do a complete reinstall of Windows?  I have setup quite a few pcs in my company using the Easy Transfer.   Is a complete OS reinstall the
    only way to fix this?

    Hi,
    Yes, agree with Luigi.
Furthermore, if you try to migrate the systems in your enterprise environment, I suggest using the User State Migration Tool 4.0.
    More information:
User State Migration Tool 4.0 User's Guide
You may try to use the installation disk to test if it is able to repair the Component Services.
