Easy way to audit high activity on table

Hi,
There is the case (db is 10g):
We have some tables which we wanna audit. If any user make "mass" select (e.g. 100 or more records per time) - we'd like to know he did it. Normal activity is selecting one record per time.
What would be the best tool to reach it?

Hi,
Given that your Database is 10g, the auditing options were extended to included DML from only SELECT in 9i, but not audit on procedures. You could double check the Fine Grained Auditing options in 10g, but I don't think this extends to DBMS_ packages.
I would consider writing a trigger or a small job that monitors the DBA_LOGSTDBY_SKIP view for additional entries. This is the only workaround that I can suggest that might fit your needs.

How get highly active TABLES in the database ?

1) Is there a way to find which table in the entire database (or) schema is HIGHLY ACTIVE ?
Highly Active in the sense which has gone through lots of SELECT,UPDATE,DELETE,INSERT
2) Is there a way to find as how many DML's happened on table SCOTT.EMP from time A to time B ?
INSERT,DELETE,UPDATE
If YES please give all the steps

Is there an easy way to see how many rows in a table? (selected or unselected)

Hi all,
Forgive me if this is a REALLY dumb question but I would love to know if there there is an easy way to to see how many rows there are in a table in InDesign?
(And I bet I am really going to kick myself when I hear the answer and how simple it probably is..lol !)
I am working on a huge catalog and am dealing with LOTS of tables...very long tables too at times. I am also doing a lot of copying and pasting back and forth between InDesign and Excel and it would REALLY help if I knew how many rows there are in a table without having to manually count them (TIRESOME!!).
Also, is there a way to see how many rows I have selected at any one time? It would be SO WONDERFUL if the info box could also provide this information.

You need not select whole rows, just one or a couple of cells.
Then run the script.
An alert message is telling you how many rows belong to the cell range you have selected and:
which rows of the table are selected…
A typical message would be:
6 row(s) selected.
3 to 8 out of 20 of current table.
The script does some basic checks of the selection.
If no cell or table is selected, it will just do nothing…

Is there an easy way to create or import tables into muse

I'm trying to create a website that used tables for things like league tables and results, but I need an easy way of placing them into muse.
I've had a go at creating tables in dreamweaver and importing the resulting html and i've created tables in Indesign and imported them as jpegs, but this obviously then does not allow me to edit on the fly.
Can anybody help.

We hope so. From my experience with indesign cs5.5. The export to HTML feature does not maintain the layout of an indesign document. You will require a developer with knowledge of HTML to style accordingingly in DW. I don't think this is an intended workflow by Adobe. Until then I dont think Muse or Indesign will export to HTML while maintaining the integrity of the layout design including adaptive fluid layout support. The closest the Adobe team have been able to do is to export to epub format.
My observation, Adobe should have given print designers option of exporting indesign files to Muse(With support for fluid/adaptive layout just as the export to epub format is supported). That way the fear of killing another tool in the Adobe bouquet won't arise. Something like 'Export to Muse' in Indesign cs6 would have been the killer. Why? Web design trend is converging with print design metaphor. I think Adobe should be leading that trend now. Tomorrow might be too crowded.

Is there any easy way to compare LIKE Addresses from one table, which contains 3rd party data, to another table, our database source

We have a 3rd party that is supplying us data and we need to compare the addressing between the 3rd party data to our source database addressing. I'd like to make it somewhat flexible meaning I'd like to somehow use the LIKE comparison rather than comparing
the exact address values. (I have noticed that the 3rd party addressing sometime has a leading <space> at the beginning of the address...why I'd prefer to use LIKE)
Is there any easy way to do this? Or does this dictate using a CURSOR and processing through the CURSOR of 3rd party data and plugging in the address LIKE as dynamic SQL?
Please let me know your thoughts on this and I appreciate your review and am hopeful for a reply.

Yes, it's possible and there are a variety of options but it's may not be for the faint of heart.
The last time I did it, I ended up taking several passes at the data.
1st pass was a straight up comparison with no modifications or functions.
2nd pass was the same but with all special characters removed.
3rd pass involved splitting the numeric portion of address and comparing just the street numbers and used a double meta-phone function (kind of like a soundex on steroids) to compare the street names.

va01, va11,va21etc this are very easy to remember but ovr1 ,vo51 etc are very difficut to remember , so please tell me the naming convention to remember.

It is very difficult to remember all the T.codes and it is highly difficul.Based on daily practise and work u can remember those.

The JDBCRealm is not multithreaded so what are options for high activity site??
I would like to have Apache as front end doing load balancing, Tomcat as server and JSF.

One more question.
Since Tomcat has this setup.

It seems like a huge pain to keep a user with every role. What happens when you have 500,000 users???
Also, the authentications on every page....would it be easier to login once and setup a session bean check that on with the page header ??

Error While Activating the Table

i have created a table name ZEMPLOY11 in ABAP Dictionary containing fields Client [NUM] Carieer [NUM] Firstname [CHAR] and Surname [CHAR] and save it . when i activated this table it shows and error Mesage "Errors occurred during activation". kindly help me out

Hi Ammad,
Could you please paste the error what you are getting so that we can help you in a bettre way, I think most probably you haven't assign a key variable while creating the table, so in the screen where you have mentioned the fiels Client NUM Carieer NUM Firstname CHAR and Surname CHAR ,mark client and carrioer as key fields, then try to activate it after setting the technical setting of the table.
Hope now you will able to activate your tables.

Is there an easy way to replace spry menus with jQuery menu system?

I just learned that Adobe is no longer using spry or that spry does not work on mobile devices. My entire site (built in CS5.5 moved to CS6) is built with 3 different spry menu systems. I have been told about jQuery, and many other menu system options. I work in design view and can copy and paste code, read code etc...but cant write it to save my life. I cannot seen to understsand how a different menu software system will integrate with DW especially when I use design view. My question is, is there an easy way to change my spry menu's? I have 2 spry menu bars, spry tabbed menus on EVERY page and a spry accordian menu that repeats on all pages. I am working with a template I built, so hopefully it is an easy fix.

Is there an easy way to print a PDF in B/W in Lion?

I would very much like to print in black and white to save ink (I hate printing). Is there an easy (or not-so-easy) way to do this in OS X 10.7 Lion?

There's a "Plain Paper, Fast Draft, Black and White", but no 'just remove colour" type of selection.
You're right, of course, this is a B/W selection, but it degrades the quality (maybe that's too inherent in removing colour?). I was looking for higher-quality colour removal. Reading what I just typed makes me sound like a nitwit, so maybe that's the best I'm going to be able to do... Thanks for putting my head straight!

Insert a flash file to iweb 09 or an easy way to display photos

Goal: have a photo space on my home page that plays automatically - dissolving one to the next.
I am trying to either insert a flash file to my home page http://web.me.com/ksporterproductions/PWF/Home.html

Easy way to migrate users from one machine to another?

I have an iMac lab where students have their own local accounts. The machines are bound to W2k Server with AD. New school year, new seating charts, some users must move. Is there an easy way to migrate a user and all their stuff from one machine to another? We do have Remote Desktop BTW. I'm not finding an obvious answer so I guess there isn't but I sure wish there were. I suppose they could copy anything they want onto the server. set up a new account on the new machine and pull it all back off the server, but that's not "easy".

This could be a telling statement although without further information it would be hard to say?
What I'm assuming from this is that current mac clients are bound to Active Directory. This would mean that user accounts exist on the Server and not locally. In which case there would be nothing to transfer other than the local admin account - again assuming you want the applications installed on the current client macs transferring over to the new client macs.
To be honest it would be easier and less hassle to create a new local admin account and install compatible software fresh. Use the same tools you used to 'bind' the old client macs to Active Directory for the new client macs.

You could utilize this to (a) name all the new mac clients with appropriate hostnames and (b) 'bind' new mac clients by issuing dsconfigad from the command line. If this seems like too much hard work then you could simply exercise your legs and walk round each one in turn.
Even if your current mac clients are configured with Mobile Accounts (locally cached network accounts) this would still not be a problem as you can manually or automatically sync the locally cached networked home folder back to the server and then log in with that account again on the new mac clients. The home folder should then be cached locally.
This assumes you've configured Directory Utility in the appropriate way.

is there any easy way how to convert a complex deep structure to XML. I have XSLT transformation ready for using, but when I look on examples on using CALL TRANSFORMATION, I am finding only examples for internal tables.
Something like this CALL TRANSFORMATION SOURCE tab = sometab[].
Instead of this I need to convert a comlex deep structure.
Any help is appreciated.

What is the best way to audit data

What is the best way to audit actual changes in the data, that is, to be able to see each insert, update, delete on a given row, when it happened, who did it, and what the row looked like before and after the change?
Currently, we have implemented our own auditing infrastructure where we generate standard triggers and an audit table to store OLD (values at the beginning of the Before Row timing point) and NEW (values at the beginning of the After Row timing point) values for every change.
I'm questioning this strategy because of the performance impact it has (significant, to say the least) and because it's something that a developer (confession, I'm the developer) came up with, rather than something a database administrator came up with. I've looked into Oracle Auditing, but this doesn't seem like we'd be able to go back and see what a row looked like at a given point in time. I've also looked at Flashbacks, but this seems like it would require a monumental amount of storage just to be able to go back a week, much less the years we currently keep this data.

1. Implement your own custom auditing (as you currently do)
2. Flashback Data Archive (11g). Requires license.
3. Version enable your tables with Workspace Manager.

Unfortunately, auditing data always takes lots of space. You must also consider performance, as custom triggers and Workspace Manager will perform much slower than FDA if there is heavy DML on the table.
