Easy way to enable/disable built-in iSight?

Hello everyone!
I am trying to figure out how to enable/disable built-in iSight camera on my MacBook Pro. I do quite a bit of video conferences lately so I went out and bought a decent camera that produces a nice picture and has zoom in/out controls etc. It all nice and well but now I have a little problem - most web-based conferencing software simply uses the "default" camera, which is in my case the built-in iSight. I want to disable the iSight and make my external camera "default" one instead but I just can't figure out how to do it... Any ideas?
Cheers
Alex

Scripts like this can easily disable and enable built-in iSight:
  http://techslaves.org/index.php?page=62
However, such scripts simultaneously disables ALL USB webcams when active.
Instead of disabling USB cams, select your other camera in the Flash Player settings.  If you need help with settings, see Adobe Help: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html
If necessary, you can quit your browser, launch Photo Booth or some other video app to keep your iSight busy.  Minimize this app if you like, launch the browser and go to your video web site, and then check that Flash can use the camera you want.

  • Disable built-in iSight or otherwise enable External Webcam

    Hi All,
I'm trying to take pics directly onto a MacBook. Don't need anything fancy, so PhotoBooth would suffice, but I need more control over where the camera is pointing than lifting and trying to aim a laptop. We have a Logitech 9000 but we can't get photobooth to use it. We tried tying up the built-in iSight with another app: this just causes photobooth to open with a blank black screen. We tried an applescript to disable the internal iSight (script "Intel Mac iSight Disabler" from [email protected]): this caused photobooth to launch with an error "No Camera" icon.
Anyone know either a way to disable the built-in isight and have an external webcam work OR an app that does basically what Photobooth does but with the ability to choose the camera?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hello Jeff.
    (1) Re-enable your built-in iSight. The script you mention disables ALL USB webcams when any are disabled.
To use a different (must be compatible with your Mac) camera, occupy your built-in iSight in another app that lets you select the camera BEFORE you launch Photo Booth. Then, when you launch Photo Booth, it will automatically connect the webcam that is not already in use. For more details, scroll down and take a look at (3) in this link:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11033260&#11033260
It deals with built-in iSight and the iSight in an LED Display, but the idea is the same.
    (2) For more info on alternative webcams, take a look at this use Tip:
      http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2018211
Depending on the exact model of your Logitech, macam drivers apparently may allow it to work with your Mac. More info at the macam site:
      http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/index.php
Depending on how much budget you have and whether you have trouble making your Logitech work, you may find buying a new "UVC" webcam to be a simpler solution for a second webcam.

  • Is there a way to enable/disable a tabular form item based on the value of a second item?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a tabular form based on a collection.   The column c050(maps to f30) will be either Y/N.  If it is Y, then I would like to enable column c024( maps to f24) (which happens to be a radio button based on lov).  If the value of c050 = N, then disable c024.   There are potentially many rows, and the item c024 would only be enable/disabled for the specific row.   So if row 1 has c050=Y and row 2 has C050=N then row 1 c024 is enabled, and row 2 c024 is disabled.  Hope that makes sense.
I have created a dynamic action called enable/disable HMS fields.
    event=CHANGE
    selection type = jquery selector
    jquery selector = input[name='f30']
    condition EQUAL TO
    value Y
    true action1 - enable, jquery selector, input[name='f24']
true action 2 - alert, You have added an HMS Species.   There may be additional data to enter.  thanks
    false action1 - disable jquery selector, input[name='f24']
false action2 - alert, no hms worries.
The alerts in both cases show properly...but nothing seems to happen to f24.....what am I doing wrong?
    thanks

Agh! This is the first time you mention this is a radio button!  That changes things a lot! As you can see, the format is different (f24_0001_0001) than what we have discussed (f24_0001).
Radio buttons have their own quirks.  My bad, I should have asked what you had.  But since you said your original selectors on input were working I just thought these were text fields or something like that.
How about you change it to a drop down list just so that you can see all work?  And fully understand it.
Then you can work out the radio button option.
If that doesn't get you there... I'm going to ask you setup an example in apex.oracle.com and give me credentials to log in and take a look.
I could re-try the js on my side with a radio but it will take some time.
So just to be clear... f30 is a drop down and f24 is a radio?
    See, this line:
    $x_disableItem("f24_" + row, true);
Is NEVER going to find the radio buttons because it's missing the 3rd 0001 and 0002 (how many options do you have?)
So perhaps you try it like this:
    $x_disableItem("f24_" + row + '_0001', true);
    $x_disableItem("f24_" + row + '_0002', true);
... keep going for the options...
Do the same for the false of course.
But I think this needs a better approach if you'll have radio buttons.  I just need to work it out.
    Ok, go try things...
    Thanks

  • Disabling built-in isight

I'd like to learn how to disable the isight camera when it's not in use. I read a report about a flaw in the codeing where someone can come into my computer and use the isight to view what I'm doing. Call me paranoid, but that's messed up. And even if the report was false, I'm sure its possible. If I have to go into the code to disable it I will, just give me the steps. Thanks.

The report you read is flawed, the only person who has access to the iSight image is the person currently logged in.
Having said that, it's fairly easy to grab an image and email it for example - Google for isightcapture and authsight - without the current user being aware of that. Some of the software to assist with MacBook theft/recovery applies this method (at failed Logins).

  • Built-in iSight and Logitech Fusion

I have an iMac-Intel with built-in iSight and a new Logitech Fusion web cam. Both work fine in iChat as it recognizes both and let's me easily choose one or the other in Preferences.
However, when using video chat at sites that use the Flash player, only the built-in iSight is selectable and the Logitech cam (also USB) is not.
Is there a way to deactivate the built-in iSight so that the Logitech cam can be my primary cam?
    iMac - Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

This problem occurs because Flash is only listing drivers (instead of devices) and the two cameras are both using the Apple UVC driver. Here's a possible workaround, but I can't try this, as I don't have a Fusion here:
    1) Download macam 0.9.1 from here:
    http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/downloads.html
    2) Install the macam driver by dragging macam.component to the "drag component to here" folder.
    3) Make sure your Fusion is connecting, and open macam.app. If you don't see the settings drawer, choose "Camera Settings" from the "Control" menu.
    4) In the settings drawer, you should see a "Disable" checkbox in the lower right-hand corner. If it's checked, make sure it is unchecked.
    5) If you made changes, choose "Save Current setting" from the "Control" menu.
    6) Quit macam.app, and any open web browsers or video chat programs.
    7) Relaunch your web browser and bring up the Flash video settings. You should now see a new item in the list of cameras, as the Fusion should now be using the macam driver.
    I hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Glen

  • Enabling/disabling mobile broadband on laptop

Will there be a faster way to enable/disable mobile broadband in future builds?
As of now, I first have to press the network icon down right, then press "show available connection" before I can enable or disable it.
I wish I could just press the networking icon in the taskbar, and the "show available connections" slide would show up.

No one knows but IMHO I doubt it.  They have many more problems to address.  Have you used the built in feedback app?  that would get it to those who matter

  • Easy way to send every possible IDoc to a Logical System

    Hi all,
With the help of the SAP Java Connector I'm trying to create an application that receives (and further processes) IDocs. The idea is then to walk through a process in SAP, e.g. Procure to Pay (PR, PR approval, Request for quotation, PO,...), and to receive an IDoc after each step of the process.
is there an easy way to enable the sending of all possible IDocs to a specific external Logical System (the JCo). This way the JCo can listen, identify and handle incoming IDocs, and thus reconstruct the process that was executed in SAP with the help of the IDocs.
I can already send some IDocs to my Java Connector, but setting this up for each action or process seems quite a lot of work.
    Hope it's clear.
    Cheers,
    David

    Hi,
Understand the query to establish the interface so as to send the IDocs to specific LS (Logical System) which will be connected to external system through JCo.
For Procure to Pay process, external documents (PO,Contract for e.g.) can be sent to external system through output determination process wherein settings can be made to send the output immediately (as soon as document is saved) and output conditions can be maintained per logical system (by maintaining LS as one of the partners) this will also reduce the condition records.
Further it can be achieved to deliver the output to specified folder per document/process wherein Jco will handle further process. In other words create no.of folders per process/document whichever best suits.

  • Using the built-in iSight for flash video applications

The main question I have is how do I get my camera to turn on with my browser to use a Flash movie application? I know you can use it for the like: iChat, Photo Booth, iMovie. But I have no idea how to get it to work with the internet. Any suggestion would help me in any direction.

  • Built-in iSight produces heavy load (Tiger) using flash applications

On my MacBook the built-in iSight produces a heavy processor load when the camera is used in a flash application and the skype viedo beta.
The load is about 120% in Firefox, Safari and Skype, when the application connects to the iSight camera. In other applications (iChat, photoBooth) I don't have that problem. Under Windows, the same application in the same Browser (Firefox) works just fine with round about 11% processor load.
Does anyone else has this problem (maybe in other applications) ??

  • SCCM 2012 R2: easy way to disable/enable MULTIPLE maintenance windows at once?

I have been racking my brain on this one for a while.
Scenario: you have an ADR set up that is deploying updates once a month. You have multiple collections set up that each have their own special maintenance window (example: 1st weekend - sat - 8-9pm)
Then, one week you are asked to not deploy updates for the upcoming weekend. Well, the ADR already ran and the machines for "1st weekend" are just waiting for the maintenance window to open. Now, at this point you can obviously go into EACH collection
associated with "1st weekend" and disable the maintenance window. But if you are asked to do this often and/or you have multiple collections with maintenance windows this could be a hassle.
Is there a way to easily enable and disable multiple maintenance windows at a time?
GUI: I have not found a way to select multiple collections and disable all MWs
PowerShell-module: set-CMMaintenanceWindow doesn't appear to have ability to modify "IsEnabled" property of MWs
PowerShell-WMI: Can't find in WMI where to modify "Isenabled" Property
    Please see my other thread
    regarding PowerShell
What other creative options are there? Disable a service via PowerShell on members of "1st Weekend" collections? Which service? Should I be looking in SQL? Where? Other options in GUI?
I may end up getting stuck doing this manually but I want to make sure I am not overlooking something first... it's such a simple task - just seems like there should be an easy way to accomplish this.
(And please, for the sake of my question, lets not get into the semantics of whether or not the ADR technically DEPLOYS the updates or not.)

I didn't even think about that.... so having one MW that is disabled or having no MW at all would allow the client to install at will? I guess I was thinking that if it had a MW but it was disabled it just wouldn't update.
The MWs on the collections are all different.
Perhaps I need to re-assess my approach...
The original plan was to have one ADR (patch tuesday) update 1 SUG (which is deployed to all machines) each month. Machines would then install based off MWs.
Now I'm thinking it might be best to have 2 ADRS:
ADR1- updates existing SUG which is already deployed to Dev/Test machines.
ADR2- creates new SUG - which I then manually deploy to Prod collections.
This would automate the deployment to Non-Prod machines but it would give me the power to withhold updates to Prod machines for the month if needed.

I'd ask in the Audition forum but I cnanot post there for some reason.
Anyway, I sent a range of clips from my work area to Audition. Made some edits on some clips and realized that I left a track disabled in premiere when I sent them to Audition. is there any way to enable this track now in Audition or am I going to have to scrap whatever I did so far and start a new import with that track enabled?
