EC-CS Reports via SAP NetWeaver Technology

Hi Guys,
I would like to know if its possible report consolidated financials (EC-CS tables) via SAP NetWeaver technology. Can I use web services to fetch data from EC-CS tables (FIMC table, for example).
Please, let me know tips to start that work.
thanks in advance,
Luciano

Hello Ariel,
EC-CS. Does consolidation of financial data based on group, company code, business area, profit center etc.
SEM BCS Does consolidation of financial data based on consolidation units which can represent, for example, companies, plants, business areas, profit centers, and cost centers.
EC-CS part of ECC 6.0 and SEM BCS 6.0 does the same thing.
EC-CS part of ECC 6.0
Pros:
Consolidated data is on the same system ECC 6.0 ( OLTP)
The reporting part is carried out with report writer.
Drill down and basic reporting.
Cons
Reporting on large amount of data does take a toll on the system
Rolling 12- 24 month report
Comparing actual/prior/budget
Reporting flexibility is limited
SEM BCS 6.0
Pros
The data is extracted into the underlying BW/BI system which operates exclusively for consolidation.
Sky is the limit in terms of customization and delivery of reports with Bex functionalities like Bex Analyzer, Web Application Designer, Report Designer.Reports can also be directly printed in Excel, Pdf format.
Reporting needs wont affect the performance of ECC 6.0.
Cons
SEM Implementation cost
Hope this gives a rough Idea. Let me know if you have any further concerns or comments.
Thanks
Raj

  • Publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal

We are trying to publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal.  So far we found that we always have to save to BusinessObjects Enterprise first, and then we found the ID from Crystal Reports in the InfoView.  After that, we put that ID in our iView using PAR template.  Here are our questions:
    (1) After we save Crystal Reports to BW server, how can we run that report from BW without saving to BusinesObjects Enterprise?
    (2) Can we directly publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal without saving to BusinessObjects Enterprise first?
Thanks a lot for your answers!
    Paul

Thanks for the answers. From your answer, I believe what you are trying to say is that we need to save Crystal Reports to BusinessObjects Enterprise no matter what. We need to save Crystal Reports to BOE first, and then we need to have BOE in order to run Crsytal Reports.
    >> Yes
Then we can publish our Crystal Reports saved in BOE to iVew in SAP NetWeaver Portal. Wether we save Crytal Reports to BW is not necesary.
    > correct. That is your choice but remember that saving to BW does come with benefits such as an integration into transports.
This also means that we cannot just create Crystal Reports, save it to BW, publish it to SAP NetWeaver Portal, and run it from SAP NetWeaver Portal w/o BOE. Please correct me if I am wrong

  • Execute PowerShell Scripts via SAP NetWeaver Identity Management

    Hello,
Has anyone implemented the execution of a PowerShell script from SAP NetWeaver Identity Management (7.1, 7.2, 8.0?).  Currently implementing 8.0, and our client is looking to kick off PowerShell scripts that would generate Active Directory accounts, Exchange accounts etc.
    Thanks!

    Hey Brendan,
We've done this out of a 7.2 implementation for exchange 2010 admin processes.  We started with running powershell via a command line pass.  It worked pretty well but it wasn't plain sailing.  We used positional parameters to pass data to the scripts in question, we also had to come up with a return process that deals with any errors that might come of the powershell session.  We had some issues with the shell sessions closing after the script completed.
We've since redesigned and now drop flat files to a constantly running powershell script that acts a bit like an IDM dispatcher (but obviously not integrated with IDM).  It kicks off other powershell sessions and monitors their progress allowing it to process time outs, stack work up, etc.
We also found timing the processes to be an issue.  If you create an AD account in IDM and then try to immediately move onto mailbox enable (for example) the account we created wasn't yet replicated to exchange so we had to build wait time into various parts of the process.
    Thanks,
    Pete.

  • Crystal Report via SAP BO

    Can somebody help me?
    I am using VB6 and CR 8.5.
How user query that we have made can be displayed in Crystal Report, how connection within it?
an somebody gives me a sample code
    Thankss...

    Hi
You have to access the data first with a SAP Recordset object.  Then pass the results to either an ADO recordset (through use of a loop, row by row) an or either an xml, access database or an intermediary.  You cannot pass the SAPs Recordset object direclty to CR since it doesn't not recognize it.
You could also query directly to the tables using ADO, but i can't recall if this would be a violation of SAP data integrity requirements. (i think not since it's only a SELECT query involved)
    Hope that helps

    Hi everybody,
we have the following error on our system:
When trying to create a new crystal report on a SAP query, using the entry "Create new report from a SAP query" in the SAP menu an error occurs: An error ocurred while generating a new report template
The error message appears after the SAP logon and the SAP query selection.

Is there any default template for SAP integrated queries?

  • SAP Netweaver Portal - Folder structure and report publishing strategy

    Hi gurus,
I'm working on a project in which we are publishing BW reports in SAP Netweaver Portal (prior to this, we were using SAP Bex Browser) organizing it by Department (workset, 2nd lvl of navigation), Business Processes (workset, 3rd lvl of navigation) and "iview types" (transactions, queries, dashboards and so on). On 1st level we have a workset simply called "Reports".
For each PFCG role we have on BW (ABAP Server), we created a portal role and defined which of the higher navigation tiers is visible to users (delta-linking the top level navigation worksets to the portal role and setting visible accordingly) and then we assigned Portal roles to the appropriated Group (PFCG role) so all users that have access to certain PFCG role can have access to the corresponding Portal role.
    For example:
In BW (ABAP) we have a PFCG Role: Sales PMR Analysis - Administrator, which grants access to Sales Infoproviders, queries and data for PMR analysis. The user that have access to it, should be able to see:
    |Reports|
    |Sales Administration|
    v PMR Analysis
      > Web Queries
      > Transactions
      > Dashboards
      > Workbooks
In Portal we create a workset that has: "Reports" and under it, all Departments (Sales Administration, Financial, Services, Human Resources and so on) set as "not visible". We create a Portal role called PMR Analysis and add the Report/Departments workset, set Sales Administration as visible and add worksets/folders named PMR Analysis, Web queries, Transactions, etc, and all the corresponding iviews under it.
If we assign this new Portal role to the Group of the corresponding PFCG role, the user will see exactly as the example from above.
Pros: The users have a clean view of the reports he/she has access.
Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
So, I'd like to know how other consultants are defining this kind of folder structure and report publishing strategy in Portal. Ideally we would like to be able to have:
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
I'd appreciate if you guys can share your experience on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leandro

Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist
This is not a refutation: your BW developers/consultants should be able to write reports, which points you in case of insufficent backend rights. EP is not designed to be familiar with ABAP security concept and cant take any influence at it.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
    Yes, bad idea.
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
As you already wrote on your own, this would be not good
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
This is not covered by SAP, if you wanna provide that, develop it on your own.
    cheers

  • SAP Netweaver BI Connection

    Hi,
When I integrate a BEx report with Xcelsius via "SAP Netweaver BI Connection", dashboards can only be published to portal.
Is there any chance to use them locally (e.g. pdf, swf)?
    Thanks,
    Erdem

    Hi  Michel,
i got the same "COM Exception".
Our BI application server belongs to a restricted network. We can only access through SAProuter service.
I changed the SAPString field of my BI entry:
    Original SAP GUI entry:
    Application server: 192.0.0.194
    SAPString: /H/paquito.elchocolatero.local/H/
    New SAP GUI entry:
    Application server: /H/paquito.elchocolatero.local/H/ 192.0.0.194
    SAPString:
With the original one, it tried to connect to the Application Server directly. It didn't use the SAP String field. With the new one, i forced to use it.
It worked for us. Maybe a XCelsius bug. We are using the XCelsius SP3.
    Kind regards,
    Raul.

  • Re: Solution Manager & SAP Netweaver

    Hi,
I would like to know about the solution manager, whether it is pre-configured one SAP R/3 or external tool for monitoring sap.
SAP R/3 is an ERP. If i need to install BW then i need Netweaver to be installed to have components like BW APO XI etc.
My understanding is rite or ...
Please give more information about solution manager.
    vivek

    Hi,
The SAP NetWeaver technology platform is a comprehensive integration and application platform
that helps reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO). It facilitates the integration and alignment of
people, information, and business processes across organizational and technological boundaries. SAP
NetWeaver easily integrates information and applications from virtually any source.
SAP ERP is the underlying technology on which all the packages work like SAP BW, EP, NW etc.
SAP Solution Manager is SAP's new service and support platform that helps to implement and operate SAP solution efficiently.
    SAP Solution Manager consists of:
    1. Central documentation of system landscapes and core business processes
    2. Implementation tools, key functional implementation aspects such as blueprinting, configuration and testing
    3. Access to SAP Support Services and Best Practices
    4. Periodic service level reporting and real-time monitoring of system components and business processes
    5. Advanced message handling for fast problem analysis and resolution including the SAP Note Assistant and a direct connection to the SAP Support Back Office.
Note : Be aware that you require an SAP Solution Manager system (minimum release 3.2 SP8) to install or upgrade to SAP NetWeaver 7.0. An SAP Solution Manager system is required to generate the SAP Solution Manager key needed during the installation or upgrade process. Without this key, the
installation or upgrade process cannot continue. For more information, see SAP Note 805390.
For more informaton on SAP NW & SOLMAN you can download the guides from SMP :

  • Need information about notification with SAP Netweaver Identity Management

    Dear Experts,
I need some informations about send e-mail from SAP NIM. We want to send an e-mail after creation of sap users etc.
Please note that today we have a Domino/Lotus server.
I  undertsood that we can send e-mail through the Identy Center (IC) component. But I did not find how to set up this solution? I did not find architecture informations?
Could you please provide me the different configuration steps?
Should I install another component? Or I just have to configure my SMTP Server?
Also, have you got the best practices for this step?
Thanks a lot for your help
    Regards
    Hocine NAÏ

    Hello,
For notification, first you need to create a repository of generic type and provide the lotus notus host details in the repository constant.
    Eg:
    EMAIL_SERVER                     abc.def.com
    EMAIL_ORIGINATOR              orignator mail ID
Then create a task with the "To Generic" type Pass.
Select the name of the function below in the Next data entry of the Destination tab of the pass.
and provide the attribute and value as below:
    MSKEYVALUE                                   %MSKEYVALUE%
    EMAIL_RECIPIENT                               recipients mail ID
    EMAIL_SUBJECT                                 Hello %DISPLAYANEM%
    LOCATION                                          %LOCATION%
Eg of a Function to sent mail is shown below:
    function SendEmail(Par){
         Recipient = Par.get("EMAIL_RECIPIENT");
         Subject = Par.get("EMAIL_SUBJECT")
         Location = Par.get("LOCATION");
         Body = "This is a report from SAP NetWeaver Identity Center at %$ddm.date% %$ddm.time%<BR><BR>";
         Body = Body + "Your location is <B>" + Location + "</B><BR>";
         Body = Body + "<BR>";
         Body = Body + "Best regards<BR>";
         Body = Body + "MaXware AS<BR>";
         UserFunc.uSendSMTPMessage("%$glb.EMAIL_ORIGINATOR%", Recipient,Subject,Body,"%$glb.EMAIL_SERVER%",1);

  • SAP NetWeaver component naming (and numbering)

I have noticed this week (10-Oct-2005) that a number of the NetWeaver components have been renamed. For example, Enterprise Portal now seems to be called NetWeaver Portal, etc.
What is the next 'evolution' of SAP NetWeaver component naming (and version numbering)?

    Hi,
Just to add to my colleagues response. The SAP NetWeaver components are actually going away (they still exist for historic reasons). The new approach will start with SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
Because of the growth of SAP NetWeaver technology and the reuse of features from one component in another and in new capabilities there is little sense in retaining the components naming.
Is BI still BI if new functionality means you always access it through a portal for admin and query execution?
So as the portal needs J2EE, BI will requires ABAP, J2EE, Portals, kmc, and BI from SAP NetWeaver. Is this the same old BI? We don't think so.
This simply stops making sense to have pigeon holing component names on an ongoing basis especially when you start really blurring the lines between 'components'. They do not work!
So SAP is now delivering SAP NetWeaver features and functions as IT Practices and IT Scenarios. These replace the component based rollout of SAP NetWeaver. For more information see the SAP service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver)
You will still see the SAP NetWeaver 'fridge' slide as this is showing capabilities of SAP NetWeaver (example: BPM and Integration broker). Their will be more and more capabilities added as we add more meaningful groupings of technologies (example of recent ones: SAP NetWeaver MDM and Visual Composer).
So, in short the component names are going away and being replaced by IT Practices/IT Scenarios.
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.
P.S. Release numbers also history for SAP as we don't have components - so you will only see SAP NetWeaver release names like 2004s.

  • HOW INSTALL SAP NETWEAVER

    Dear All,
first af all i have to say that is my first SAP installation. I never worked with SAP, so may be my question could be "stupid".
    - I received the SAP NETWEAVER with al tleast 20 from CD and DVD.
    - I have a server with Windows 2003 Server
1)Which CD or DVD i have to use to install NetWeaver?
    2) I have to add XI, may be i have to install the UNICODE version.
    Thanks....FOR NOW...

    Massimo,
Not sure if this will help you but I went thru some headaches trying to figure out how to install Netweaver locally. Take a look at this thread for how my situation went.

  • SAP Netweaver Interest

    Hi,
I am a certified functional consultant in SAP PP (Production Planning) and MM (Materials Management) Modules. I am learnt from internet that SAP will be concentrating more on Netweaver Technologies in the future. I would like to expand my knowledge horizon from SAP functional to SAP Netweaver. Please give your opinion about scope for functional consultants in SAP Netweaver Technologies.

    Anant Joshi

    Hi Anant
SAP XI has a wide scope and high values in market
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape:
&#9679;     Modeling and design of messages, transformations, and cross-component integration processes
&#9679;     Configuration options for managing collaborative processes and message flow
&#9679;     Runtime for message and process management
&#9679;     Adapter Engine for integrating heterogeneous system components
&#9679;     Central monitoring for monitoring message flow and processes
SAP XI supports internal company scenarios and cross-company scenarios.

  • Error when saving Crystal Report  to SAP BW (via SAP toolbar)

    Dear Experts -
    Our landscape is:
Backend - SAP BW7.4 with Service pack 5
    Crystal Version - Crystal Reports 2013 SP1 Patch 6
    Business Objects - SAP BI 4.1 SP1 Patch 6
I'm trying to save a crystal report to SAP BW via the toolbar option, but the attached error is being returned.
Also, if I try to create a new report from BW, an error is thrown.  'An error occurred while generating a new report template; No error'.
    Any feedback/pointers would be valuable.
    Regards,
    Tarun.

I realize this post is a few months old, but did S. B. O. Shell Business One get this issue cleared up by installing the BW transports mentioned in Josh's reply?  I'm interested in knowing whether this was resolved as we are receiving the same error as the one shown in the initial post.

  • Run a Crystal Report published on BW from SAP NetWeaver Portal without BOE

    Hi all,
We need to create a report using Crystal Reports, save it to BW, publish it to SAP NetWeaver Portal, and run it from SAP NetWeaver Portal. We do not want to use BOE here.
Currently, we are able to save the report on BW.
With Xcelsius, we have seen that we can directly refer to the dashboard's technical name from SAP NetWeaver Portal. Is similar thing possible using Crystal Reports? If yes, how this can be achieved?
