ECATT: SAP's Best Practice For eCATT
Hello All,
If multiple projects are handled on same server, then the master data keep on changing due to which the screen sequences of transactions may change and hence causing the failure of earlier automated eCATT scripts.
What is the best practice recommended by SAP for such situation both in long term as well as short term considering project deadlines?
Thanks & Regards.
Hi SAP Developer,
as far as I know there are no best practice guides for that from SAP.
But from common experience in automating testing one can propose:
For long term:
- organize your processes to be tested aligned as a number of szenarios; do a test case design also incorporating test data to be used; on that base derive (master) data that can be used in common by all szenarios; all other data should be used from single szenarios exclusively;
- use scripts also for creation of (master) data;
- try to use internal number assignment or create numbers in your eCATT script, so that every process run uses new new data accroding it's needs
- try to check customizing using CHETAB or BC Sets, stop the process if important settings are not there
The target of all this is to ensure, that neither customizing nor master data properties can raise different screen sequences.
Another option is to make your scripts more flexible regarding 'small' sequence changes like upcomming popups etc. when using SAPGUI command. This can be achieved by setting the 'Active' option of 'ProcessedScreen' elements.
If you use 'O' like optional, eCATT will only process the ProcessedScreen branch if the programm and dynpro number are matching the screen currently shown by SAP Gui.
Hope I could help a bit.
Best regards
Jens

But here the requirement is a resource can be billed based on time sheets. So to create a value contract & based on contract create a sales order may not satisfy the process.
But my concern is a person is billled based on times sheets, how the cost of the person fetched in the sales order?

Best Practice for report output of CRM Notes field data
My company has a requirement to produce a report with variable output, based upon a keyword search of our CRM Request Notes data. Example: The business wants a report return of all Service Requests where the Notes field contains the word "pay" or "payee" or "payment". As part of the report output, the business wants to freely select the output fields meant to accompany the notes data. Can anyone please advise to SAP's Best Practice for meeting a report requirement such as this. Is a custom ABAP application built? Does data get moved to BW for Reporting (how are notes handles)? Is data moved to separate system?

More Details
This section details the most common business scenarios u2013 those that benefit most from the application of best practices.
Sales and Marketing
SAP Best Practices for Chemicals supports the following sales and marketingu2013related business processes:
Sales order processing u2013 In this scenario, SAP Best Practices for Chemicals supports order entry, delivery, and billing. Chemical industry functions include the following:
u2022 Triggering an available-to-promise (ATP) inventory check on bulk orders after sales order entry and automatically creating a filling order (Note: an ATP check is triggered for packaged material.)
u2022 Selecting batches according to customer requirements:
u2022 Processing internal sales activities that involve different organizational units
Third-party and additional internal processing u2013 In this area, the SAP Best Practices for Chemicals package provides an additional batch production step that can be applied to products previously produced by either continuous or batch processing. The following example is based on further internal processing of plastic granules:
u2022 Purchase order creation, staging, execution, and completion
u2022 In-process and post process control
u2022 Batch assignment from bulk to finished materials
u2022 Repackaging of bulk material
SAP Best Practices for Chemicals features several tools that help you take advantage of chemical industry best practices. For example, it provides a fully documented and reusable prototype that you can turn into a productive solution quickly. It also provides a variety of tools, descriptions of business scenarios, and proven configuration of SAP software based on more than 35 years of working with the

SAP Functions in Detail u2013 SAP Best Practices for Chemicals
The package can also be used to support external toll processing such as that required for additional treatment or repackaging.
Tank-trailer processing u2013 In this scenario, SAP Best Practices for Chemicals helps handle the selling of bulk material, liquid or granular. It covers the process that automatically adjusts the differences between the original order quantities and the actual quantities filled in the truck. To determine the quantity actually filled, the tank trailer is weighed before and after loading. The delta weight u2013 or quantity filled u2013 is transmitted to the SAP software via an order confirmation. When the delivery for the sales order is created, the software automatically adjusts the order quantity with the confirmed filling quantity. The customer is invoiced for the precise quantity filled and delivered.

SAP Best Practice for Water Utilities on ERP2005
Hi All,
I want to load SAP Best Practice for Water Utilities on ERP2005. I have downloaded the package from Marketplace but there is NO transport file included on it. It only contains documentation. My questions are
1. Does anyone know where I can download the transport file, if any?
2. Should I use the transport file from Baseline Best Practice instead?
Thank you,
BomoHello!
The file should contain eCATTs with data according to best practice preconfigured scenarios and transactions to install them.
Some information about preconfigured scenario you could find here:

SAP Best Practice for Document Type./Item category/Acc assignment cat.
What is the Best Practice for the document Type & Item category
I want to use NB - Item category - B & K ( Blanket PO) , D ( Service) and T( Text) .
Is sap recommends to use FO Only for the Blanket Purchase Order.
We want to use service contract (with / without service entry sheet) for all our services.
We want to buy asset for our office equipments .
Which is the best one to use NB or FO ?
Please give me any OSS notes or reference for this
Thanks
NickThank you very much for your response.
I hope I can provide some clarity on how the accounting needs to be handle per FERC Regulations. The G/L balance on the utility that is selling the assets will be in the following accounts (standard accounts across all FERC Regulated Utilities):
101 - Acquisition Value for the assets
108 - Accumulated Depreciation Value for the assets
For an example, there is Debit $60,000,000 in FERC Account 101 and a credit $30,000,000 in FERC Account 108. When the purchase occurs, the net book value for the asset will be on our G/L in FERC Account 102. Once we have FERC Approval to acquire the plant assets, we will need to enter the Acquisition Value and associated Accumulated Depreciation onto our G/L to FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 respectively with an offset to FERC Account 102.
The method that I came up with is to purchase the NBV of the assets to a clearing account. I then set up account assignments that will track the Acquisition Value and respective Accumulated Depreciation for each asset that is being purchased. I load the respective asset values using t-code AS91 and then make an entry to the 2 respective accounts with the offset against the clearing account using t-code OASV. Once my company receives FERC approval, I will transfer the asset to new assets that has the account assignments for FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 using t-code ABUMN or FB01. -
Best Practice for the database owner of an SAP database.
We recently had a user account removed from our SAP system when this person left the agency. The account was associated with the SAP database (he created the database a couple of years ago).
I'd like to change the owner of the database to <domain>\<sid>adm (ex: XYZ\dv1adm) as this is the system admin account used on the host server and is a login for the sql server. I don't want to associate the database with another admin user as that will change over time.
What is the best practice for database owner for and SAP database?
Thanks
Laurie McGinleyHi Laura
I'm not sure if this is best practise or not, but I've always had the SA user as the owner of the database. It just makes it easier for restores to other systems etc.

Best Practice for enhancing the SAP delivered standard WD ABAP application
Hi,
I am new to WebDypro ABAP.
To enhance the SAP delivered Standard WebDynpro Component (complex component with Business objects & powl).
Kindly let me know the best practice for enhancing the Standard WD ABAP from the below 1 or 2.
1) To copy & create a "Z" of the component & make changes in that (or)
2) to enhance directly on the same standard component without making "Z".
Regards,
NSHi NS,
If it is a standard component its better we go for enhancing the component rather than copying it into Z component.
If there is any issue with in the standard component , SAP supports it through notes and OSS messages. If it is a Z component, SAP doesn't support it.
If there is any up gradation of business packages, changes will be done to standard , but not the Z components, wherein we could miss it.
Further, since it is a standard component it might have been used at many places, changes that has to done to reflect all changes might be difficult in this case if it is a z component.

Best practice for the Update of SAP GRC CC Rule Set
Hi GRC experts,
We have in a CC production system a SoD matrix that we would like to modified extensively. Basically by activating many permissions.
Which is a best practice for accomplish our goal?
Many thanks in advance. Best regards,
ImanolHi Simon and Amir
My name is Connie and I work at Accenture GRC practice (and a colleague of Imanolu2019s). I have been reading this thread and I would like to ask you a question that is related to this topic. We have a case where a Global Rule Set u201CLogic Systemu201D and we may also require to create a Specific Rule Set. Is there a document (from SAP or from best practices) that indicate the potential impact (regarding risk analysis, system performance, process execution time, etc) caused by implementing both type of rule sets in a production environment? Are there any special considerations to be aware? Have you ever implemented this type of scenario?
I would really appreciate your help and if you could point me to specific documentation could be of great assistance. Thanks in advance and best regards,

Best Practice for PDF print forms based on SAP standard
Hi,
I have copied the SAP standard PDF form F_D_INT_SCALE_00 to a Z form, and am using it in conjunction with the standard print program RFDZIS01_PDF. However I need to output some additional fields that are not supplied by the print program / interface (for example Customer VAT number).
What is the best practice for achieving this? As far as I can see the only way is to take a copy of the standard print program and modify it to select the extra data, and modify the interface. I never like taking copies of standard programs though for obvious reasons.
If I had this requirement with a smartform it would be a simple case of embedding ABAP code into the Z smartform and leaving the print program alone, but unfortunately there is no provision for the non-PDF version of the Interest Letter to be sent by email.
Thanks in advance,
VindalooThanks for your reply Robert.
However I think you are referring to Smartforms when you mention Code Initialization and Global Data declarations. I need to know the best way to modify copies of standard Adobe Print Forms.
