ECC5.0 upgrade
Dear gurus,
I'm in a middle of upgrade from R/3 46C to ECC5.0.
In the phase of IS_SELECT, when I choose the support packages for the installation, ECC-DIMP appears.
Did anyone have it ? I didn't find it on service.sap.com. Where can I get it ?
Please Advice,
Dimitry Haritonov
Hello Kasim,
1) There a SAP guide at service.sap.com/instguides -> MySap business suite solutions-> MySAP ERP-> MySAP ERP 2004-> SAP ECC 5.0.
It is a long and detailed process that comes with a long and well detailed guide (sap guide). But I found a lot of bugs and adds-on to the upgrade guide.
So I suggest you to start with SAP guide and note down every little change that you'll need to make for your upgrade.
2)About the client copy, I am not sure but my opinion that it won't work because there are a lot of differences (on the dabase level) between ECC5 and R/3 4.6C (like "enhancement category" on tables and etc).
Regards,
Dimitry Haritonov

SAP r/3 Plugin activitation or ECC5
Hi All,
Our company is having 4.6C in our landscape. We are having PP,MM,HR,FI/CO,SD modules. We are thinking to have a PM (Plant Maintaince) module in our landscape. Please let me know whether we require any other license or reactvitation from SAP. Or it will cover in our exisiting license.
Pleaes let us know about the ECC5 upgrade. What are the differnet features we will get more in ECC5 as compare to 4.6C. If we will go with ECC5 what is the License process. Will it change to our 4.6C license or we need to take a new license for ECC5. We are having Mainframe also in our landscape.
What is the recommandation to remove mainframe from our landscape and take in to ECC5 or BW. Form cost point of view how much difference?
Thanks and regards,
RipalWe are in the process of performing a 46C to ECC 5.0 Upgrade (very similar to a 46B starting point I would imagine). I have weblog diary of some of the activities:
/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/03/28/erp2004-upgrade-diary
I am due to make an update for the month of August (it is on my to-do list for this week). I have details about the number of Z-programs that will need changes. Most of them are pertaining to Unicode Support.
We are estimating about 2 days of development to make the changes to 110 programs (out of our possible 2,000 programs). So far the changes have fallen into 1 of about 5 easy to fix categories.
Far more important was training our developers for the vast new technical functionality in WebAS 640. You can look at the development training we came up with here:
/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/05/15/abap-46c-to-640-delta-training
I actually haven't made any updates to the diary since March/April because we took a few months to project plan, finish open development issues, and train everyone with the linked materials. It was just now in August that we really got started in ernest. -

Normally this error comes when you have incorrect entries created when you import Support Packages.
You can go thru the SAP Note 857276 which basically deals with a similar sort of a problem caused due to import of BI Content Support pack.
I had come across this error during my TEST upgrade and i had deleted the entries from the table and gone ahead. But do remember to take a backup of the tables before deleting the entries.

Recommended upgrade method from ECC5 to ECC6 for lowest production downtime
Hello everybody,
I've been looking through multiple documents concerning a system upgrade and I am still unable to figure out the recommended method for upgrading a system with minimum downtime.
My scenario requires that tests as rigid as possible will be performed and that development will be halted for the shortest time possible , therefore development must be continued after the initial upgrade.
We are currently debating the required way to do this - what should be done with the change requests that currently reside in the DEV system, in which steps the incomptabilities are fixed and so on.
I've decided that I'll share my thoughts with you and maybe you guros will be able to point out mistakes in the methodology.
1. ECC 5 Production System is copied aside, lets call this system EPC
2. Change requests from DEV ECC5 are copied to this EPC System.
3. EPC system is upgraded to ECC6.
4. Bugs and incomptabilities such as unicode incomptabilities are fixed and merged in a change request
This ends the preperation step and in my opinion is sort of a preperation step.
During the whole preparation step, which to my estimate could take at least one month, development in the original system must be continued, so this is my main trouble.
What is the recommended procedure from here?
I assume that another production must be done on the day of the actual upgrade start, then the fixes from the previous preperation system are copied to this actual ECC6 Production, but I am rather lost as far as it goes to having an ECC6 Dev with most current change requests.
I would appreciate any hints and help,
thanks in advance,
Eli.Ok, your idea of having a production copy for development and tests is a good upgrade strategy, we have done this twice due high quantity of developments and configuragion changes but I don´t see why you wrote " copy change requests from DEV to EPC " your whole configuration, programs, etc, are already in EPC once you copy the system.
In this scenario every change made in DEV ECC 5.0 must be also replicated and tested in EPC 6.0 because you cannot use the change requests from 5.0 in 6.0 once in productive upgrade, let me list the global steps:
1.- Homogeneous system copy from PRD to EPC, you will get a working test platform
2.- Upgrade EPC to 6.0
3.- Developers and functionals will do all respective changes and generate chage requests.
Once EPC is ready
4.- Upgrade DEV system to 6.0 transport change requests created in EPC to upgraded DEV, from this point you should only do emergency changes using Q&A system.
5.- Upgrade Q&A system, transport change requests from DEV, no changes are permited from now until PRD is upgraded.
6.- Do all tests very carefully
7.- Upgrade PRD transport change requests
Then you are ready. the downtime can be tune trough EPC, DEV and Q&A systems so you can determine what you shoud do to assure the shortest method.
I recomend you to use the downtime minimized upgrade method and from every upgrade take a deep look at the upgrade report generated after the whole process is completed. -

Purpose
As parallel maintenance has been deactivated, you have to implement various measures, depending on how your system has been configured, when you upgrade to release SAP ECC 5.00, Financial Services (EA-FS500). These measures affect release levels SAP ECC 5.0 and SAP ECC 6.0.
Process Flow
Use the graphic and the subsequent documentation to check which activities are required in your system due to the deactivation of parallel maintenance. The process represented in the graphic is explained in greater detail in the following sections:
1. Check whether you use the Real Estate (RE-Classic) solution.
¡ If you do not use the Real Estate (RE-Classic) solution, no additional steps are required.
¡ If you use Real Estate (RE-Classic), additional checks are necessary.
2. Check whether, in addition to Real Estate (RE-Classic), you also work with a solution that uses the SAP Business Partner.
¡ If you only use Real Estate (RE-Classic), additional checks are necessary.
For more information about the activities to be processed, see Steps for Exclusive Use of Real Estate.
¡ If, in addition to Real Estate (RE-Classic) you also work with a solution that uses the SAP Business Partner, additional checks are necessary.
For more information about the activities to be processed, see Steps for Additional Use of an SAP BP Application.

Combined upgrade and Unicode conversion for ECC5 MDMP system
Hello,
We are planning to do Upgrade and Unicode conversion of ECC5 MDMP system to ECC6 EHP4 Unicode. We are adopting Combined upgrade and Unicode conversion strategy to minimise the downtime.
In source version ECC5 we are in support pack level 6. Should we need to update the support pack to any target version to start with CU&UC or we can start with ECC5 with SP 6 itself.
Since we cant afford more downtime for support pack update also, is it ok to start with upgrade and unicode conversion with current version.
please advice.
Regards
VinayHello Vinay,
please note that as a prerequisite the Basis SP should be accurate for an MDMP conversion.
There is no MUST to have the latest Basis SP, but without you could have severe issues in SPUMG.
On the application side, there are in most cases no hard requirements on the SP level.
Best regards,
Nils Buerckel

Upgradation from 4.6C to ECC5.0
Hi,
What are the requirements for handling the custom development corrections in an upgrade project?
Upgradation from 4.6C to ECC5.0.
After upgradation testing/changing of the customer programming, user-exits, etc is required.
What are the requirements for this?
Regards,
UmeshHi Umesh!
In addition to the regular Upgrade Efforts that has to be taken care with the Custom ABAP Programs, For upgradation from 4.6C to ECC 5.0 you have to make a note that SAP ECC 5.0 is Unicode Complaint.SAP ECC 5.0 being Unicode Complaint, the ABAP Syntax check is more intensive. So some of the custom programs might miss this additional syntax check and needs to be repaired accordingly. The Transaction UCCHECK can perform the Unicode Complaint Test. The repair work depends on the volume of the custom ABAP programs you have.

Error when executing Prepare in upgrade from R/3 4.7EE to ECC5.0
HI,
I am trying to upgrade R/3 4.7EE to ECC5.0 DB :Oracle:OS:Windows.I am executing the Prepare.bat fron upgrade Master and I choose the EXIT option at the last. After that from cmd I ran java -cp <UPG DIR>\ua\ua.jar UaServer ,but after that it is not asking any password for administator.I am trying to login to the Upgrade console from http://localhost:port but it is asking administrator password. My question is in my case why it is not asking any password though
I am getting Uaserver started message.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Sagar Askani.Hi,
After entering EXIT, from command prompt you would need to go to "ua" foler and the execute the following command.
java -cp ua.jar.UaServer
then it will ask for administrator password.
And then the Ua server will be started.
Leave this window as it is.
Open another window in command prompt.
then execute the command
java -cp uagui.jar.UaGui.
This will open the upgrade assistant. Enter the Host name and then the User name as Administrator and the password.
This should help you in resolving the issue.

PC00_M14_CDTA ECC5 to ECC6 Upgrade Missing Selection Field
Hi All,
Found out Selection Field of (Pay date) during Upgrade from ECC5 to ECC6 on TCODE : PC00_M14_CDTA.
More information you can refer to below print screen.
Thank in advance for advice.
Trevor Wong. This has been replaced by "Requested Execution Date". Here is the standard hlpe for this:
Requested Execution Date on Which the Payment Is to Be Made
Use
In this field, you can enter a date on which the bank is to execute a payment. The date is transferred together with the payment information to Financial Accounting (FI), where the payment is executed.
You can use the date to override the default setting or the date determined by implementing the Business Add-In (BAdI) Change of Requested Execution Date for the Payments (HRDME_B_ REGUH_DUE_DATE).
In many countries, the system date is used as the default value for the execution date. In some countries, the payment date of the payroll period is used.
Dependencies
The following sequence applies to determining the execution date:
1. The defined default value is used as the execution date.

Nishabefore upgrade you have to run the pre-requiste checker. It will check the system and tell you exactly whether this system can be upgraded. Once that is done you can download the sap quick sizer from service marketplace to chekc the hardware scope of the upgrade. Else you have th implimentation experience then there will be extra 10 to 15,000 tables added in new version and also the changes in program and also you need space for shadow instance.
Check the DB files area and if the data is 4-5 years old you can archive the data if the company policy support. Keep suffiecinebt space in SAP Application drive and also the DB files drive. See the virtual memory properly see also the RAM 16 GB minimum if you can keep will be better. If it is more excellent and also the CPU's. If you have more CPU capacity the processing will be faster you can define more parallel processes during upgrade. So, these are the few hardware related things to take care of.
About documentation refer the sap upgrade guide and all the sapnoten download which are mentioned in the upgrade guide. It is excellent. I have used these guides and sapnotes while upgrade and it was ok.
During the upgrade you may face some problems this is normal and you should look the logs which are there in the upgrade directory \usr\sa\put\.....
be careful in analyzing the errors and all the pr-requistites which you have to do before upgrade mentioned in the guide. If you follow these properly you will have very less issues. During phase act_640 you may have to do some dictionery adjustments which depends on the dictonery objects you can take help from the developer for this.
There is one tool to restore the variants that is ASU(application specific upgrade).
Then your variants will not be lost. Go to sap site http://service.sap.com/upgrade and checkout all upgrade related documents. You are done.
It will be a smooth upgrade.
Rgds and Good luck. -

Regards,
KumarHello Kumar9,
if I understoon correctly your last reply, you have doubts if PSAPPRD640 should exist at all, correct?
Please do the following:
1) Check any object assigned to this tablespace PSAPPRD640
2) If any object occupied to PSAPPRD640 then reorganise to new tablespace
If any object not occupied to PSAPPRD640 then check the table entry
a)TAORA for tablespace PSAPPRD640(if exist delete)
b)IAORA for tablespace PSAPPRD640(if exist delete)
3) If above done then drop the tablespace through BRTools.
