ECM java client - example code
Hi,
Enviroment: ECM 11.x
I need to write ADF application integrated wit ECM. Is there any public java codes with examples ? I mean somethink like examples for SOA Suite http://java.net/projects/oraclesoasuite11g/pages/Home covers e.g. example how to write custom worklist. My requairement is to write some functionality from ECM console, so it would be useful to have some java api usage examples.

Actually, what workflows you intend to use? And, what's your use case what-so-ever?
I hope I won't confuse you, but in fact, you could mean three things:
- use UCM native (iDocScript workflows)
- use BPEL workflows
- use BPM workflows (as BPM Suite is now also part of the license)
The last is completely driven from the BPM side, so there you don't need to do anything.
The second works like this: you may define a criteria workflow which passes the item to a BPEL workflow. When BPEL finishes, it passes the workflow back to release the item. If you have samples for SOA Suite, you could reuse them.
Only for UCM native workflows, you would need to write your own codes (calling services - most likely WS), but havinf the first two options, is it worth?

Real Time Client example code?
Anybody have example code on how to build a "basic" RTC?
Hi
You can look "Perform Continuous Query" in the dev guide here : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14509/toc.htm

are there any java connector code samples which demonstrate on how to do simple queries as searching a customer and displaying the customer's address details? or modify an existing customer entry and such?
kind regards
pascalthanks, this was really helpful!
now i need to get the right vCompany. according to the api-docs that's an instance of ICompany and it seems like this is the way to set all the connection parameters... how do i do that?
maybe i should be more precise.. what exact properties of the ICompany do i have to set in order to connect to a company?
i tried with the folowing but did not succeed:
vCompany = SBOCOMUtil.newCompany();
vCompany.setServer("10.0.0.152"); //the sap / sql server's ip address
vCompany.setCompanyDB("SBODemo_Swiss");
vCompany.setUserName("username");
vCompany.setPassword("password");
vCompany.connect(); //returns -8008 (Error while trying to initialize database)
(of course i replaced username and password with those of a valid user)
if i add those two lines before the connect statement:
vCompany.setDbUserName("sa");
vCompany.setDbPassword("password");
connect returns -111 which means "Connection to SBO-Common has failed"
adding a line that sets the language doesn't change anything..
now i don't know if this really was a step forward or not, but i think it was since i get -8008 even if i enter the wrong ip ...
what am i missing?
if all these questions have already been answered in a tutorial or in any document, please give me a link or a hint what to look for, since i didn't find it so far.
kind regards

Error invoking Web Service from Java client
Hi
I have created an ALSB Proxy service and exposed it as a web service. I have created a Java Client the code for which is pasted below:
String ENCODING_STYLE_PROPERTY = "javax.xml.rpc.encodingstyle.namespace.uri";
String URI_ENCODING = "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/";
String url = "http://localhost:7001/Dummy_ALSB_Project/proxy/Dummy_Proxy_Service?WSDL";
String TARGET_NAMESPACE = "http://www.bea.com/servers/wls810/samples/examples/webservices/handler/log";
QName xsdString = new QName("http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema", "string");
ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
QName serviceName = new QName(TARGET_NAMESPACE, "LogHandler");
QName portName = new QName(TARGET_NAMESPACE, "ProcessSoap");
QName operationName = new QName("writeCustNameToFile");
Service service = factory.createService(serviceName);
Call call = service.createCall();
call.setPortTypeName(portName);
call.setOperationName(operationName);
call.addParameter("param0", xsdString, ParameterMode.IN);
call.setProperty(ENCODING_STYLE_PROPERTY,URI_ENCODING);
call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_USE_PROPERTY, new Boolean(true));
call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_URI_PROPERTY,"");
//set end point address
call.setTargetEndpointAddress(url);
call.invoke(new Object[]{ "The Joshua Tree" });
When I run the service, I get the following error:
java.rmi.RemoteException: BEA-380001: Internal Server Error
at com.sun.xml.rpc.client.dii.BasicCall.invoke(BasicCall.java:524)
at TC.methodB(TC.java:67)
at TC.main(TC.java:9)
Any clues about what is going wrong?? Thanks in advance.It's recommended to use the same verison of client and service.

Simple Server/Client Applet example code ???
Hi to all.
I would like to ask if possible to someone to tell me some example code to do this simple thing:
I want an applet showing only a TextField and a button. When the user writes something on the textfield and press the button, it should send the text in the textfield to the "server", and then it should save it in a variable.
I think there should be 2 different classes at least (server and client), but no idea in how could I make this on Java.
So I am asking if possible for some sample code for make this.
Thank you for the information

Example code for Trigering a workflow using WAPI from JAVA based tool
Hi Experts,
I am the newest guy in SAP workFlow and BAPI world. I need to trigger a workflow defined in WebFlow engine from a Java client. I know i can use JCo and to use WAPI to get workflow information but i am not sure how it works. Can you give me some example code to trigger one workflow defined in WebFlow using WAPI? If there is any alternative i am interested to know that as well.
Thanks in advance.

Trouble to invoke BPEL from Java Client following rmi example
I still have troubles to invoke my BPEL process from Java Client by following tutorial sample of 102.InvokingProcesses/rmi .
I created my Java class within NetBeans IDE. And the following line of code return null for url,
java.net.URL url = ClassLoader.getSystemResource("context.properties");
I think that I need to have SystemResource set up somewhere, how should I do that?if you using oc4j.. then please make a small change in oc4j_context.properties
from
java.naming.provider.url=[java.naming.provider.url]
to
java.naming.provider.url=ormi://hostname/orabpel
And please make sure the context.properties file which gets copied to classes/context.properties has this above entry. For more details please refer to build.xml under rmi folder.
Please do let me know if you face any issue. -

hi ,
I have to design a java client (which is basically a JMS message listener)which
is deplloyed to all the servers in the cluster. But as these are message listeners,
i want only one of the instance to be active at a time.
If the server on which the client is active goes down , I want the second server
to start listening to messages.
How do i design this ? Also is there a public api for multicasting that we can
use ?
Anybody has an idea on how to go about this..
Thanks
nisha
Hi Nisha,
Failover message listeners? Sounds like you want MDBs, which are deployed on all nodes in a
cluster. If your JMS destination is a queue, then only one MDB will pick up the message. And just
like any other ejb service, MDBs failover.

How to insert message in OC4J JMS from standalone java client.
Hi,
I have been following available examples for creating standalone java clients to insert messages in JMS queues.
I am able to insert using java client when the SOA suite and the standalone java code are on same machine.
package producerconsumerinjava;
import javax.jms.*;
import javax.naming.*;
import java.util.Hashtable;
public class QueueProducer
public static void main(String[] args)
String queueName = "jms/demoQueue";
String queueConnectionFactoryName = "jms/QueueConnectionFactory";
Context jndiContext = null;
QueueConnectionFactory queueConnectionFactory = null;
QueueConnection queueConnection = null;
QueueSession queueSession = null;
Queue queue = null;
QueueSender queueSender = null;
TextMessage message = null;
int noMessages = 5;
* Set the environment for a connection to the OC4J instance
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "oc4jadmin");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "mypass");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"ormi://myserver.company.com:12402"); //12402 is the rmi port
* Set the Context Object.
* Lookup the Queue Connection Factory.
* Lookup the JMS Destination.
try
jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
queueConnectionFactory =
(QueueConnectionFactory) jndiContext.lookup(queueConnectionFactoryName);
queue = (Queue) jndiContext.lookup(queueName);
catch (NamingException e)
System.out.println("JNDI lookup failed: " + e.toString());
System.exit(1);
* Create connection.
* Create session from connection.
* Create sender.
* Create text message.
* Send messages.
* Send non text message to end text messages.
* Close connection.
try
queueConnection = queueConnectionFactory.createQueueConnection();
queueSession =
queueConnection.createQueueSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
queueSender = queueSession.createSender(queue);
message = queueSession.createTextMessage();
for (int i = 0; i < noMessages; i++)
message.setText("Message " + (i + 1));
System.out.println("Producing message: " + message.getText());
queueSender.send(message);
queueSender.send(queueSession.createBytesMessage());
catch (JMSException e)
System.out.println("Exception occurred: " + e.toString());
finally
if (queueConnection != null)
try
queueConnection.close();
catch (JMSException e)
System.out.println("Closing error: " + e.toString());
But when the SOA Suite is remote, I am struggling to get the settings correct
Till now, here is what I have figured out from looking at blogs/tars etc on the Net:
1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactory (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14101_01/doc.1013/e13975/jndi.htm)
2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml file, which may be dummy (http://www.wever.org/java/space/Oracle/JmsTar1). Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.
Errors:
When trying to run exact same code on local server that tries to enqueue JMS on remotee serverer
Exception occurred: javax.jms.JMSException: Unable to create a connection to "xxxxxxx.yyyyyy01.dev.com/10.42.456.11:12,602" as user "null".
Any help is greatly welcome.
As an exercise, I copied this complete code on the server and then ran locally using a telnet client...it worked. So the problem is coming when accessing the server remotely.
Rgds,
Amit1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactoryNot necessarily.
2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml fileThat's only necessary if going the ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory route.
There are two types of JMS client applications you can write -- a pure/plain Java app, and an "AppClient". That first is your everyday run-of-the-mill Java application, nothing special. That latter is a special, complicated beast that tries to act as a part of the whole client/server/J2EE architecture which provides you with a semi-managed environment. Either can be made to work, but if all you need is JMS access (using plain OC4J JMS factory/queue names and not JMS Connector names), then the first is easier to get working (and performs a tiny bit better as well due to being a lighter-weight solution).
I think the problem you are having might be: When you use the plain Java client solution, you do not have any type of management, and that includes user management. With no user management (and if the JMS server is not configured to allow anonymous connections) you need to include the username and password in the call to createConnection. (I think it may be that this is actually true in the AppClient case as well -- I avoid using the AppClient model as much as possible so my memory there is weaker.)
If you prefer to go the AppClient route, I would point you to a demo I wrote which had a functioning example, but Oracle seems to have removed it (and all of the 10.1.3 demos?) from OTN. :-(
Hmm, it seems to still be available on the wayback machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/20061021064014/www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html
(Just look down the page for "With OEMS JMS (In-Memory and File-Based)" -- there is an .html document with info, and there is a .zip file with source code.)
Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.The app client in my demo had the following directory structure:
myjavaclient.class
jndi.properties
META-INF\MANIFEST.MF
META-INF\application-client.xml
META-INF\orion-application-client.xml
When you use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory I think it just looks under .\META-INF for the .xml files.

Creating a WCF MTOM application with Java Client
Well I am treading into new ground here. I need to create a WCF that will pull files from a database in an image column and either send them to a Java service that will accept binary data. We send an XML file to the Server which is running Java.
During the processing of the XML the message may indicate that there are files that need to be included (like attachments in email). So the Java Service (I suppose) would send a request to a .NET WCF service requesting the files. The service would
then retrieve the files from the SQL Server (in the image column) and send them to the calling Java application. I have been looking around the web some and run across MTOM and I suppose this is the best way to send this, but I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to grab the files from the database and stream them to a temp file first, then use MTOM to send the files?
2. Can I just send the files from the database to the Java client? The files are read into a byte array and then saved as a binary data type in SQL Server. (Code to create the file below).
3. I am coming into this new so examples would be nice, I mean real basic stuff so I can understand how to make this WCF the correct way. I have no control over the Java Client, I will let them deal with how to configure the data they get.
Any help is appreciated.
Code I use to store any file into SQL:
Dim fs As New FileStream(filePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)
Dim ilen As Integer = CInt(fs.Length)
Dim bFile(ilen - 1) As Byte
fs.Read(bFile, 0, ilen)
fs.Close()Hi,
