Hi
Open the standard text in SO10.
FORMAT -

You can use/change paragraph and character formats which are there in the attached style/form.

  • Character Formats showing up in TOC

TOC entries for, say, "Heading4", are nominally controlled by the paragraph format of the generated "Heading4TOC" format.
Sometimes the body narrative will have local mods to the Heading4 text. Depending on what you're doing, you may want those mods to show up in the TOC, or you may not. In my case, I did not, and was surprised to see a TOC entry show up in color.
It turns out that if you apply a Character Format to text used for TOC (and perhaps IX, LOF etc) generation, that ChrFmt is retained when rendering the TOC.
So if you want the local enhancement to appear in the TOC, use Chr Fmt. I verified this by setting a heading word to Character Format "Symbol" (which applies the Symbol font`, all else As-Is). The TOC entry had that word in Symbol glyphs.
if you don't want the local enhancement to appear in the TOC, use local overrides. I verified this by just doing a Format > Font > Symbol on the same word of the heading. The TOC entry had that word in roman.
In my case, I have a table imported (as EPS) from a spreadsheet. I want the table title to appear in TOC, but of course Frame can't "see" that text. So the anchor line is that title in Heading4, which does appear in TOC. This particularly H4 has a local color override that is set invisible via Color Views. I want the TOC entry to be visible, but the Heading4 text in the body to be invisible. This works if the Heading4 has the invisible color applied with the graphics tools. It doesn't work if I use an invisible text Character Format.
Another way to hack this particular problem is to put the Heading4 title in a text frame behind the imported image. Then it requires no character formatting magic. But you can't see it during edit, and you need to hope that the table white fills really are, and aren't just transparent.

The TOC will only reproduce the character format of the heading if it  has that character format in its catalogue.
Thanks for contributing that. It stands to reason that if TOC gen is honoring and replicationg the ChFmt, the easiest way to implement that is just to drag the format in with the text being cloned.
Building on this, you can control the  appearance of the TOC entry by defining the character format – if you  wish, differently from how it is defined in the main text. So your  Heading 4 override may be coloured white in the main text, but black in  the TOC.
Thanks again. I'm going to use this starting now, since the present manual set has need of it.
The key aspects of the implementation:
The ChFmt name needs to be something very self-evident to future document stewards, like "Hide_Except_TOC".
In all .fm files except TOC, its definition is
    all As-Is, except for Color,
which is an existing author-use-only color "Invisible Text" already set Invisible by Color Views during render.
In the TOC file, the definition of "Hide_Except_TOC" is
    100% As-Is.
(first time I've ever defined a format like that)

  • Apply character formats in the Marker window

We need the ability to apply character formats (including superscript and subscript) in the Marker window. I use this feature to generate LOM files, which are greatly helpful, but after generation, I must edit the file directly to apply character tags to individual items to correspond with the style of the text from which the markers have been generated.
For example, I have a list of warnings at the beginning of my book. I place a marker in each warning in the chapters to generate the list of markers. Some of the warnings in the chapters contain the product name which includes an Italic character and a superscript registration character. (The client's style is to use the registration character at every instance.) When I place the text in the Marker window, I have no way to include the character formats for Italics and superscript. Therefore, when the list of warnings is generated, the product name is not styled correctly, and I must edit every instance in that file--every time I generate for a revision.
If the Marker window would accept character format codes like the Variable window does, the problem would be solved.

I've never done a LOM, but if you are pulling across text at the marker, and LOMs work like TOCs, try the following.
Apply a Character format to the source text with the attributes you need.
Make sure that format also exists in the Character Catalog of the LOM file.
In the case of TOCs, this causes the TOC lines to use that Character format (as defined in the TOC, as long as the format name is the exactly the same).

  • Edit standard bank-file formats Payment Engine

    Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to edit the standard bank-file formats for payment engine?
In swedish format is not correct in 8.81 PL06
All the formats are in dll-format...
We do not want to recreate a standard format from scratch

    Hi Anders,
It seems the .dll formats used for the payment engine are superceded by the new formats created in the EFM Format Definition.
There appears to be no assistance available from anyone to convert the existing formats and I have found no documentation that aids the creation of new formats that will link to the Payment Engine.
If you have found any way around this, please share?
    Thanks
The note referred to by Jitin explains how to amend existing BPP formats, of which there are none unless you have created one, and the suggestion to obtain them from support will get you sent back to the forums for support....

  • SmartForms Character Formats, Fonts, and Sizes?

Does anyone have any good documentation, links, or suggestions related to character formats, fonts, and sizes we can use in SmartForms? My biggest challenges are trying to decide which fonts and their sizes to use in my windows.
For instance, what are good small, or medium, or large, font types to use under different scenarios, and what suggested sizes should be used with them? It would be nice to have some kind of a tip sheet that would refer to this. Because I spend more time playing with configuration then I do actually coding.
Open to all or any suggestions.    Thank-You.

  • Inline character formatting

    Battling on happily after that Aha!-moment before Christmas, and testing myself by retrofitting structure to existing documents – still having far more fun than I feel I should do at the office :-}
Today's question, which may well reveal an embarrassing lack of basic understanding. In my unstructured documents, I've always used specific character styles for options like !cite and !xph (book-titles and in-line code snippets respectively). Now I'm exploring structure, I haven't yet managed to work out how to handle these in-line changes. "Format change list" looked promising, but how do I define an element that's going to trigger the change? (if "element" is the right word at this low a level)
My battered copy of the FM 7.0 User Guide briefly but tantalisingly mentions "… wrapping items that are inside paragraphs" without farther explanation. What other (online) references would you recommend?

    Hello Niels,
I am a tad confused on what you doing. <cite> is an inline element in DITA. Are you building an EDD based on a pre-defined valid XML, such as DITA, or are you building and new EDD/DTD?
As for the EDD, you have options as to how to apply inline (as well as block) formatting. For inline elements, you can reference a character tag, define all the required character formatting in the EDD, or point to a format change list. Which one to use depends on the application. The majority of the time, I reference a character tag. Sometimes, if the formatting is based on an attribute value, and/or requires minor a change, such as increasing relative font size, by a specific amount (+2pt), I will define that in the EDD. That can also be done using a format change list (if there a lot instances). For example, I use format change lists to turn on and off change bars, based on an attribute value. For example, most DITA elements have a @status attribute. I use that to apply formatting to block or inline text.
I tend to point to paragraph and character tags 90% of the time. However, you can build an EDD that has all formatting defined in the EDD and basically creates a boat-load of overrides to the Body tag. I am not a fan of this. It will keep people from changing tags. However, if you want a single EDD for multiple page sizes, pointing to tags is the way to go. Then you only do formatting within the EDD for formatting such as adding relative space or increasing relative font size.
    Hope this helps.

    Stan

  • Disable Character formatting controls

I just wanted to control manual character formatting in InDesign CS4 and above. People gone ahead and change font using "character formatting palette" instead of the using character styles even I instructed best practising to use only character styles for various emphasis such as Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Superscript, Subscript etc...
I really wanted to disable for character formatting in control panel & character shortcut Ctrl+T (Win) Cmd+T (Mac) alone in InDesign CS4 and above. But the character formatting option should work in Paragraph and Character styles i.e. we should be able to create if new styles required instead of applying manual character formatting. Much appreciated if any one helps on this big issue.
    JA

To expand a bit on Jongware's suggestion about hiding the menu command to show the character panel you can also customize the Control panel to hide the character controls, and save this as a workspace, then edit the keyboard shortcuts to remove commands you don't want used. I don't recommend this, though. It's easily circumvented by anyone with ID expereince, and a much better approach is to stress to your people how important the use of styles is, and perhaps that their jobs depend on adopting good work habits.
One thing I WOULD recommend is that you add a set of standard character styles to ID as a default. You can make a master document someplace tha has your basic styles, then load those styles with nothing open and they will be available to all new documents, and add them to any templates as well. I think you'll find yo get much better acceptance of using styles if your people don't need to reinvent the wheel for every document they make.

  • Downloading and editing an existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver CS5.

Hello! New to the forums, here.
I'll try to be brief. I've got a WordPress site in-place at metalmeter.com that is hosted through HostGator. Basically, what I'm looking to do is get the site from the remote server and edit it in Dreamweaver CS5, previewing all changes on a local testing server before putting the updated contents back on the remote server.
Now, let me be clear: I've tried plenty of the tutorials. I've watched hours of videos. I still can't get it configured properly. I've got the FTP connection to the remote server running smoothly. I've got XAMPP installed. I'm having difficulties (and I apologize for being vague), and I just don't know where the problem is located. In my htdocs folder for XAMPP, I've got two subfolders 'metalmeter' for the remote server's downloaded contents, and 'wordpress' for the wordpress installation that every page seems to be pointing me toward. What confuses me is that when I try and open the uppermost index.php file on the remote server, the dynamically discovered content is not being displayed in the live view with my local testing server. I want to be viewing my existing WordPress site in its entirety exactly as I see it online while I'm editing it, and then pushing back updated files to the /public_html/ root directory of the remote server so that I can edit the site from my local client. I'm extremely new to Dreamweaver, so any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
If you know how to do exactly what I'm trying to do and have been successfully viewing and editing your existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver for upload, please take some time to explain the set-up. I'd be forever in your debt!

    Nancy O. wrote:
I've been following this discussion for a while now and I don't understand why you hope to edit articles from DW.  That's what the WP Admin panel is specifically designed for.  Besides, you won't find your articles in any of the site files because they don't exist there.
I agree I don't see any reason to want to edit a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver. If you are using Wordpress then you may as well put Dreamweaver in the bin. Although people do actually want to edit and manipulate the design in Dreamweaver (including myself) and from what I've read its possible but I've never found a source which explains fully how to achieve this and those that I have it seems too much effort to even bother about.
I guess the Dreamweaver environment feels more like home and is more user friendly.
To put it another way, a typical WordPress installation contains around 800 files in some 80 folders.  Those files don't contain any content, just a whole lot of PHP code.   In fact, the only page most people ever see on your site is the index.php page which is dynamically created over & over by the server with content from the MySql and various include files.
For sure and that's why people who use Dreamweaver and feel the need to manipulate a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver because Wordpress is 'in vogue' get lost. Wordpress just containes a lot of pages with nothing to see apart from some php, many of who will not understand one jot.
Unless you're a coding guru, you should definitely NOT touch any of the core WP files as this could cripple your site.  If you want to customize your Theme, look at the CSS and include files in your Themes folder.   See Anatomy of a WordPress Theme:http://yoast.com/wordpress-theme-anatomy/
    lol your not wrong there!
For a quick tip on Theming, open your remote site in Firefox equipped with the 'Web Developer Toolbar'.  Edit CSS on screen.  Save changes to your local site and upload it to the remote server.  No testing server required.
Wordpress is Wordpress and Dreamweaver is Dreameaver. As far as I can make out the two don't mix.
Ideally you would just choose a Wordpress theme which most relates to the nice site you have designed in Fireworks of which you won't find any however goodthe themes are. Then manipulate the themes css that's if you can understand it. Even for a seasoned css expert its heavy going because everyone produces css differently to achieve the same results.
Leave Wordpress well anlone unles you're going to use it out of the box so to speak or as a web-developer don't mind a bit of reverse engineering.

  • How to edit an existing muse created website with muse on a new computer?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm pretty new hear and could use some help. I downloaded Muse back when it was still in beta and used it to create a website www.southernski.com      I really liked it's ease of use since i'm a newb at writing html and haven't gotten the hang of Dreamweaver. I need to update the site and make changes. The pc i was using before was running XP and the version of Muse then worked on it fine. But Muse has left XP behind and will not install the update on that machine and so I've installed a new version of Muse on a laptop with Windows 7. The files i used to create the website are on the pc that has failed and so I need to try and find out if it is possible to edit the existing site I have uploaded on a hosting site (not muse or adobe) and make the changes that are needed. Can someone please help me answer this question?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Sean

    Hello Sean,
It is not possible to import the pages etc. from the hosting site to Muse for editing purposes. This is because Muse only opens files with the extension .muse (which is the extension for the muse website file that is created and saved in Muse). It is not possible to import .html files etc. in Muse for editing purposes, hence, you won't be able to edit your current website in it, however, if you are able to locate the .muse file that you created earlier (if you have a back up somewhere), you can simply copy that file in your new computer and open in it in Muse to start editing.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • How can I get a list of SAPScipt character formats?

I know that SAPScript use the <> for capturing - i.e. preceed text and fields with <NN> and end with </> to change the format.
For example <B> is for bold.
i want to know where i can get a list of all the possbile values - have looked thru SDN and the Web with no success on this.
I used to know this but it have been many years since used sapscript.
    Thanks

    Hi
I am not sure that I have understood your question correctly.
But if you want to see all the character formats available inside the form in SE71, there is a push button named "Character Format". Press that button and you would see all the character formats available for the form.

  • Creating a new page type or editing an existing one?

whenever i create a new document, i select blank page then under page type list several diffent page types. i would like to edit an existing one or create a custom one. for example, every time i create a new document i have to clear out the code and type the following...
    <?php
    require_once('classes/class.layout.php');
    $layout = new Layout;
    $layout->page_title = 'This can be different each page';
    $layout->render_header();
    $layout->render_footer();
    ?>
i tried to create a template but it always wants editable regions and i don't want it to be stuck using that system. i would like the above code to be typed out every time i create a new document. is this possible? do i have to edit some kind of system file that's xml or js? i'm using CS5 and i'm on a mac.

this is exactly what i was looking for! thank you murray! i created my own Page Type and it shows it. all you have to do is add your custom document type.
inside the DocumentTypes folder you will find the MMDocumentTypes.xml file. this file contains all of the default dreamweaver document types: html, asp, php, asp.net, etc. you can add your entries here, just use the same structure. it's safer not to modify it but create your own. so i created a CustomDocumentTypes.xml file. i just used camel-case to keep the file names consistent. according to documentation, dreamweaver checks this directory and uses the settings it reads off the xml files. so as long as it's a well formed xml file, it will try to read it. if not, it will ignore it.
next i created my default page in the NewDocuments directory. i restarted dreamweaver and there it was.

  • Premiere and Media Encoder will will no longer export my edit to any file format.

This is on a Windows 8.1 PC.
The edit exported fine until I made one big mistake.
I created a Nested Edit to make a quick alteration.
Since then the following is now the case and I cannot go back to an earlier edit to fix this.
Premiere and Media Encoder will will no longer export my edit to any file format. Using either the Export Option or Media Encoder.  Get a dialog that says "Unknown Error Compiling Movie"
There is nothing wrong with my footage.  This edit worked fine and I export through Media Encoder many times until I made a Nested Edit within the Premiere Project.
I have tried all sorts of searches on the net for a fix to this but nothing seems to be current or indeed works.
Any help would be appreciated as this is a show stopper.

Thanks for the reply Mark, appreciated.
I have found a work around but it still leaves a long term issue for Adobe to fix.
    As to your first solution:
1).  The nested edit is already in its own timeline panel.  It will not export or encode via media encoder.  This is the problem.
2).  I will try the KEM roll feature but I have a work around see following.
3).  No I do not have a nested edit within a nested edit.
I did a lot of research on the net on this issue as it happened to a colleague of mine on his machine about two weeks ago.  It took me six hours to get a fix and in his case there were six video clip that had read errors.  When I overwrote those clips from the original backup master it fixed the problem.  However I was never able to use Media Encoder again to export his project without it failing.  I could only use the Export feature.  Again he had used a nested edit in his project.
I my case I do not have any nested edits within a nested edit.  All I did was drag my main edit onto the New Sequence icon at the bottom of the Project Bin.  This of course created a nested edit in a new Timeline Panel which is what I wanted.  I then slid the entire nested edit to the right in the timeline by two seconds as all a wanted to do was add two seconds of black at the head of the edit.  That was it.  From that point of creating the nested edit Media Encoder and the Export option failed every time with the fore mentioned error.
The final work around was one of those I found previous mention of during my research.  I created a new clean Premiere Pro CC 2014 project, I then used the import option under the file menu.  I imported only the original main edit which brought in that edit along with all the required footage.  This would then export to disk using the Export feature.  However, Media Encoder will still not encode this new edit, it fails the same way every time, 'Unknown Error Compiling Movie'.
As a test I loaded the old corrupt edit project back up and deleted the nested edit sequence completely and re-saved it.  This had no effect and did not fix the problem.  This particular project file will no longer export directly or via media encoder at all no matter what I do.
This seems pretty serious to me.  I worked on this edit for a whole month without issue, encoding out roughs as a went without any issue, it was only yesterday after I made the nested edit that the project file is now useless as it will not encode out at all.  Yes I have a work around and was able to salvage my project and get it rendered in time for my deadline but the fact I have a partially working Project that Media Encoder will not touch does not instill me with confidence for long term use of Premiere Pro if this is going to happen again.
Is there some place I can send this project file to Adobe to see if they can find out what is wrong with it?  I am not the only person having this issue I have seen other post going all the way back through CS6 it seems.

  • List data validation failed when creating a new list item but does not fail when editing an existing item

    Dear SharePoint Experts,
    Please help.
Why does my simple formula work in Excel but not-work in SharePoint?
    Why does this formula...
    =IF([Request Type]="Review",(IF(ISBLANK([Request Date]),FALSE,TRUE)),TRUE)
...work in Excel but fail when I try to use it in SharePoint?
The intent of this formula is the following...
If the field "Request Type" has the value "Review" and the field "Request Data" is blank then show FALSE, otherwise show TRUE.
SharePoint saves the formula, but when a list item is saved where the formula is implemented, (under List Settings, List Validation), SharePoint does not, say anything other than that the formula failed.
Note that the "list data validation failed" error only happens when I am creating a new item-- the formula above works just fine when one is trying to Save on the edit form.
    Can you help?
    Thanks.
    -- Mark Kamoski

    Dear Jason,
    I appreciate your efforts.
However, it seems to me that this statement of yours is not correct...
"If it meet the validation formula, then you can new or edit the item, otherwise, it will throw the 'list data validation failed' error, it is by design".
I believe this is NOT the answer for the following reasons.
When I create a new item and click Save, the validation error is "list data validation failed".
When I edit an existing item and click Save, the validation error is "my custom error message" and this is, I believe, the way it needs to work each time.
I think, at the core, the error my formula does not handle some condition of null or blank or other default value.
I tried a forumla that casts the date back to a string, and then checked the string for a default value, but that did not work.
I tried looking up the Correlation ID in the ULS when "list data validation failed" occurs, but that gave no useful information because, even though logging was set to Verbose, the stack trace in the error log was truncated and did not given any
    good details.
However, it seems to me that SharePoint 2013 is not well-suited for complex validation rules, because...
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation (NOT column-level validation) allows only 1 input for all the multi-field validation formulas in a given list-- so, if I had more than 1 multi-field validation rule to implement on a given list, it would need to be packed
into that single-line-of-code forumla style, like Excel does. That is not practice to write, debug, or maintain.
SharePoint 2013 list-level validation only allows 1 block of text for all such multi-field validation rules. So that will not work because I would have something like "Validation failed for one or more of the following reasons-- withdrawal cannot exceed
available balance, date-of-birth cannot be after date-of-death,... etc". That will not work for me.
The real and awesome solution would simply be enhancing SP 2013 so that column-level validation forumlas are able to reference other columns.
But, for now, my workaround solution is to use JavaScript and jQuery, hook the onclick handler on the Save button, and that works good. The only problem, is that the jQuery validation rules run before any of the column-level rules created  with OOTB
SP 2013. So, in some cases, there is an extra click for the enduser.
    Thanks,
    Mark Kamoski

    hello,
i want to apply a character format on my include text, as we do on text elements .. how to apply it on include text ??
    thanks..

    Hey dude ,
Just go to the <b>output option</b> of the text and include the smartstyle, where you have mentioned the required charecter format. Before doing this you should have activated your smartstyle .
    Your problem will be solved.
