Edit existing text

hi.. i dont know if this has been answered before, and if it has than am sorry for asking again.. am actually new to illustrator and was hoping to find out if it was in any way possible to edit text in an existing .ai file.. i had asked someone to create a logo for me using Adobe Illustrator and he has done a great job but has made a couple of spelling mistakes in the text of the logo.. how can i change this? thanks in advance..

hey thanks for taking the time to reply..
the person is not available for the next few weeks and i need it to be done urgently..
from the look of things, the text in the file has been converted to paths.. is it still possible for me to edit the text? or would that be an impossible thing to do?

  • Is there a way to edit a cell?  I need to put some spacing between the check boxes...  I already have the whole form done 60 plus text cells, except 5 check box cells.  Is there a way to edit existing text?

    Hi,
I am new to the forum, because I usually don't run into stupid format issues.  I create most of my forms in word or excel then import them into PDF.  I need help with figuring out if I can edit some text without having to redo the entire document.  5 cells are off... really be steamed if I have to do it all over.

Acrobat can make limited edits to the text on a page, but the control you have is limited and may not be sufficient for what you need to do. To access the text editing tool in Acrobat 11, select: Tools > Content Editing > Edit Text & Images
and then click where you want to edit the text, and see what happens when you attempt to make the changes you want.

  • Not able to edit existing text in a converted to Word PDF file.

I cannot edit text in a converted to word  PDf file. I can only add text. Why? I am using Export PDF

    Hi Mark,
Have you tried triple clicking on your document? Sometimes the conversion can come across as an image.
Let me know if that works!

  • Why doesn't keynote allow me to edit existing text in a powerpoint file?

I download powerpoint presentations from my professors and need to fill in some blanks. The presentations open in Keynote, but do not allow me to edit the exsisting text. All I can do is write over the exsisting txt which is not usefull. When I open the presentation in powerpoint, there is no problem. I have no idea what the issue may be....I am new to Keynote.

If you go to www.portforward.com it will give you both your external ip address, as well as instructions for port forwarding. ARD, in addition to ports 5900 and 3283, also uses port 5988. you need to set each to your particular client computer.
That said, some internet providers lockout your port forwarding capabilities...

  • Opened a jpg in adobe photoshop.how to edit existing text?

    please help

You can't. A jpeg is a flat file. The text is part of it.  If it were on a plain background, you could erase and overwrite, but if the background has detail, then not much you can do.

  • Editing existing PDF documents

I often receive PDF forms that require information to be added and then returned to the sender. How can you open a PDF file in Acrobat such that you can type in the necessary information and then resave it as a PDF file? Note that I have no design input or control for the original PDF documents.

You can add text form fields (under TOOLS in AA8), select the text touchup tool and hold the ctrl key as you place the cursor, edit existing text with this tool (not easy -- often seems to mess up), or use the Typewriter tool. Basically, editing a PDF is not recommended except for minor changes.
You could also use the commenting tools.

  • Trying to edit a pdf - Is there a strikeover key for existing text to line through text without deleting the orignal text?

I need to strike through existing text on a PDF I am trying to edit.  strikethrough like this but I cannot seem to locate this key  on the page where I am editing the pdf in adobe.
    Where do I locate this?

    Hi dhillionflygirl,
You can find a Strikethrough tool on the Comment pane in both Reader and Acrobat.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

I updated to Firefox 8.0 for Mac and when ever I try to log on to Facebook I get this error message Textarea Backup] Existing text detected in 'add_comment_text', overwrite with this backup? and then it says yes and gives you the choice of either canceling or ok and it doesn't go away when you click either button...What is going on?

  • Editing text in an existing text layer.

Running PSE 9 under Mac Snow Leopard.
I have a family photo including many text layers.  I'm trying to edit the text in a selected large multi-line text layer.  I'm following the steps from the appropriate PSE Help article, but I always end up creating a new layer and the red/green no-go/go option.    I thought I should just be able to double-click the text layer and start editing.

Can you post a picture somewhere from where we can download?  The above picture is flattened out and so we can't work with it to see what is happening.  Your file must have .psd file extension like the one I have uploaded here:
    <http://www.mytechnet.talktalk.net/text-test.zip>
You will need t zip it before uploading it and post a link here for us to download it.  You can use dropbox to share files free of charge.

  • Can you edit the text of a PDF that is placed in inDesign

I have placed a PDF in inDesign and am curious if I can edit the text of that PDF while in inDesign.

Edit it with Adobe Acrobat Pro, indesign can't. Option for Indesign is:
of course overlay text with new text
There is specialized software for editing PDF files, though the choices are much more limited and often more expensive than creating and editing standard editable document formats. Version 0.46 and later of Inkscape allows PDF editing through an intermediate translation step involving Poppler.
Serif PagePlus can open, edit and save existing PDF documents, as well as publishing of documents created in the package.
Enfocus PitStop Pro, a plugin for Acrobat, allows manual and automatic editing of PDF files, while the free Enfocus Browser makes it possible to edit the low-level structure of a PDF.
In Acrobat you should use the TouchUp Text Tool.
But in the end, PDF-files are not made for editing.

  • Photoshop cs6 won't allow me to highlight my existing text layers. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

Photoshop cs6 won't allow me to highlight my existing text layers. I select the text tool and the text layer I want to edit, hover over text and each time I attempto to edit a new layer is created. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

Be sure you go to Adobe's Web Site and make sure there are no Updates for CS6
    http://www.adobe.com
Remember if you have trouble with a software issue it is the software and not caused by the Mac you are using
Many users simply don't remember when you upgrade software you normally have to go to 3rd party web sites and update software as well.

  • Content Editing Add Text Format (How do I change the default, currently/always "Minion Pro")

Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, Creative Cloud Subscription
When I use Tools > Content Editing > Add Text
Under the "Format" section/box the font type default is "Minion Pro".  It's always Minion Pro, irrespective of the font of the document I have open.
I've tried everything in the recommended help, including directly editing the Registry, but everything seems to be focused on the default text of the "comments."
What's the fix?  Should I just make a copy of the font for Arial, rename it Minion Pro, and copy it over the existing Minion Pro (or reinstall the renamed Arial font or something)?

There does not seem to be a way to set the default. In fact, when I when to the edit text and selected some text, it came up in Times Roman and when switching to Add Text, the font was blank. Initially, it was Minion Pro as you suggested, but not after the edit text step. That probably does not help, but I suspect there is no default setting that you can use.

  • How to change color of font in JTextArea without changing existing text ?

Is there some way to keep the existing text in one color / size and change the color / size
of the yet "unwritten" part of text ?
Edited by: pimpcane on Dec 11, 2007 9:53 AM

The very first paragraph of the API documentation says
"A JTextArea is a multi-line area that displays plain text. It is intended to be a lightweight component that provides source compatibility with the java.awt.TextArea class where it can reasonably do so. You can find information and examples of using all the text components in Using Text Components, a section in The Java Tutorial."
In other words, if it isn't obvious from that, no. The actual link to the tutorial doesn't show up here but if you go to the API documentation you'll find it there.
