Editable column in a query

I am trying to create some queries and post it on the portal as a dashboard using visual composer.
one query is a basic query with actual, budget, variance and forecast.
The client has a unique requirement. If in the query, the actual amount is more than the budget amount, he/she needs to have the option to change the forecast values to be more than the budget amount (also more than the actual amount) and save it. Additionally, the client wants the system to keep a track of the changes that were done.
Is it possible? The client will be seeing this query in the portal. i don't know if they can make changes to a report on portal.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
What version of BW are you on?
Where do your budgets/forecasts come from?
You could look at using an Integrated Planning layout if on BI7.0 and load the forecast into the Planning cube, then switch it to plannable and then they could amend the forecast using standard IP functionality.

  • Set Column width in query (not using SQL*Plus)

    How can I Set Column width in query
    I understand you can set column width using
    column col1 FORMAT A5
    select col1 from table1;But this only works in SQL*Plus
    I want to be able to do this in a regular SQL query window (not in SQL*Plus), how can I do it.....
    I am using a 'SQL window' in PL/SQL Developer IDE
    and when I use this syntax it says:
    ORA-00900: Invalid SQL statement
    Any suggestions are appreciated...
    thanks,
    M.

    Did you try using RPAD or LPAD functions? They fill the unfilled part of a string with character you provide... either on right or left side depending on what function you use.
    e.g.
    SELECT RPAD('Smith', 10, ' ') Name FROM dual;http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/sql/rpad.html

  • ADD a column in a query

    Hi
    I want to add a column in my query.
    This column is the sum of the net value and the tax ..please how can I do this without refering to ABAP development..
    thanks in advance

    This is not an SD question and you might want to use Search (and include other forums) in the future.
    There is no ABAP needed for such basic calculations in queries. In SQ01, this can be done in the 'Select field' screen (it's the 3rd screen where you select which fields will be included in the query.
    First, assign short names to your Net Value and Tax fields. Go to the menu Edit -> Short Names -> Turn On/off. This should open another column to the right from the field names. Enter the names, say NET and TAX.
    Then create a new local field. Same menu, Edit -> Local field -> Create. Give the field some name (TOTAL), assign a type ('Same field as -> use Net field or whatever is suitable). Enter formula NET + TAX and save.

  • Add Forecasting column to a Query

    Hi,
    The user wants to add a forecasting column to a query that has the actual and plan costs. He wants the option to change the values of this column in the query. Can I use any planning cubes for this?
    My plan is to make a copy of the cube that has the the budget data, but make it real time. Add a column in the query with this cube. Make this column editable.
    Will this work? Will the history of the changes be stored in the cube, or is it a overwrite function?
    Any input will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi,
    Yes you are on the right path. Using real time cubes, you can build an input ready query using which user can make manual entries. But you need not copy your budget data (not to be edited) to real time cube. Its better to keep it and the plan data in real time cube seperatel; build a multiprovider over both the cubes and build your planning application over the multi.
    Regarding storing history of changes, it does get preserved in planning cube, but you need to check if the default planning functionality satisfies your reporting requirements. If not, you might need to implement this in your planning model.

  • Multi Row Selector using Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)

    Hi,
    I created a tabular report which had a multi row select in it - got the deleting working fine.
    Am now creating a second tabular report, but because of the SQL:
    select
    "ID",
    "ID" ID_DISPLAY,
    "RESNUMBER",
    "RESDESCRIPTION",
    decode(RESTYPE,'R','Right Party','W','Wrong Party'),
    decode(DMCFLAG,'Y','Yes','N','No'),
    decode(SALEFLAG,'Y','Yes','N','No')
    from "CALL_RESULTS"
    I have to select the option Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only) otherwise I cannot save the form.
    My problem is I am now unable to add a multi row selector to the tabular form. If I do and run the form I get the following error - failed to parse SQL query: ORA-00904: "COL11": invalid identifier. Also when I go back and edit the form the multi row selector has been removed.
    Can anyone tell me why I can't add a row selector like I previously could?
    Regards
    Simon

    Arie,
    I added aliases and to the decode columns, and I can now add a row selector to the form without any problems.
    Thank you very much for your help.

  • Edit column issue in Premiere Elements 9

    Is there an issue with the Edit Column feature in the project window of Premiere Elements 9?
    When I add a Description or Comment column, changes are not saved when I close and reopen the program.
    Also, I cannot write any text in these columns to describe my videos (if I click on the space for writing comments, it just opens up a window to view the video) whereas I was able to do it with version 4 and earlier.
    I am using the trial version before buying and would like to know if the purchased version has this problem or not and if it can be fixed?

    I could be mis-remembering, but I think that Steve Grisetti has confirmed about what you indicate. I do not know if this was some sort of change in Adobe's thinking, and they did not clean up after themselves, or if this is just a Bug, that needs to be addressed.
    Personally, I would file a Bug Report, with the full details, and hope to get a fix in the works.
    Also, if I am mis-remembering, I am sure that Steve G. will correct me.
    Good luck,

    Hi,
    You will be able to do it with the help of cell definitions.
    Say,you have a structure in Rows :
    A
    B
    For A ..in corresponding column cell,use cell definition with KF1
    For B.....in corresponding column cell,use cell definition with KF2
    this way,you will be able to see both in one column
    I m not sure how much it is relavant to your requirement.But this is one way of gettin it

  • Comment column in a query

    Hello,
    In a BW query, I need to add a column of text comments (for example, the description of a calculation, the unit used, ...). These texts are static, the queries will only be used as static reports (download scheduler), in excel and web, so we can not use any VB script.
    Is it a way to add some text in a cell of a column, as in the following example (columns 2 and 3) ?
    KF1    |    Comment for KF1    |    Euros    |    12
    KF2    |    Comment for KF2    |    %          |    47
    Thanks in advance

  • Creating an empty column in a query

    Is there a way to place an empty column in  a query? I would like to put acolumn with no information into the middle of a query. The reason is that the information that goes in that column is not available on any tables in my SQL databases.
    SELECT
    hier.dir_name

    Hi
    "no information" in database is usually NULL value. Is this what you are looking for?
    SELECT
    hier.dir_name

    ,NULL as fm_name
    --,hier.fm_name INSERT BLANK COLUMN HERE
    ,hier.tech_name

  • Access Summary column in a query

    Hi All,
    I am new to oracle reports. I am using report builder 10.1.2.0.2.
    I have a summary column in my report. I would like to use this summary column in another query.
    if is use this column directly in the query, i am getting the below error:
    "Field 'F1' references column '<summary column name>' at a frequency below its group. "
    Both these fields are in the same frame. In the object navigator, both are displayed under the same group name.
    please let me know if there any way to access summary columns in another query.
    Thanks.

    You can use a field from one query in another query as parameter, i.e. preceded by colon. To do this first create link of "Group to Query" type between the first query's group where the summary column is, and the second query.

  • Reordering of rows - issue with drag and drop of editable columns in table

    JDeveloper: 11.1.1.6.0
    ADF Faces - Drag and Drop for reordering of rows within the same af:table
    I have a requirement for reordering rows in a table using drag and drop. This table is loaded using a list and I am able to programmatically do the reordering of the rows based on the events of drag and drop by manipulating the list. Reordering of rows is working fine if all the columns are read only. For all the input text and input date columns the values are not getting reordered. Anyone has any idea on what the issue may be with reordering of the rows for editable columns/rows (af:inputText and af:inputDate) in af:table. Below is what Iam doing on drop event which is a collection drop target.
    public DnDAction dropCollection(DropEvent dropEvent) {
    try
    Object dropSite = dropEvent.getDropSite();
    Transferable transferable = dropEvent.getTransferable();
    DataFlavor<RowKeySet> rowKeySetFlavor = DataFlavor.getDataFlavor(RowKeySet.class, "rowmove");
    RowKeySet rowKeySet = transferable.getData(rowKeySetFlavor);
    RichTable table = (RichTable) dropEvent.getDragComponent();
    if (rowKeySet != null)
    CollectionModel dragModel = transferable.getData(CollectionModel.class);
    Object dragM = dragModel.getRowData(0);
    Object currKey = rowKeySet.iterator().next();
    dragModel.setRowKey(currKey);
    table.setRowKey(currKey);
    OrderData orderData = (OrderData)this.prodReportTableData.get(Integer.parseInt(currKey.toString()));
    this.prodReportTableData.remove(Integer.parseInt(currKey.toString()));
    this.prodReportTableData.add(Integer.parseInt(dropSite.toString()), orderData);
    OrderData orderDataAdded = this.prodReportTableData.get(Integer.parseInt(dropSite.toString()));
    JSFUtils.addPartialTarget(this.getProdReportTableBinding());
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    return DnDAction.MOVE;
    Code snippet from UI:
    <af:table value="#{pageFlowScope.prodReportBackingBean.prodReportTableData}"
    var="row" styleClass="AFStretchWidth" rowBandingInterval="0"
    rows="40" emptyText="No data to display." id="t1"

    <af:collectionDropTarget dropListener="#{pageFlowScope.prodReportBackingBean.dropCollection}"

    Hi,
    not sure its the reason but you have huge bummer in your configuration.

  • Multiple columns from a query sorted vertically

    Is it possible to sort a query resultset vertically, with
    multiple columns across the page, in the following manner, with
    page breaks after 40 rows? I can get it to sort horizontally just
    fine with tables, but how can it be done vertically as shown?
    JONES, Abby JONES, Betty JONES, Dawn JONES, Frank
    JONES, Adam JONES, Bill JONES, Debbie JONES, Gayle
    JONES, Alice JONES, Bob JONES, Denton JONES, Henry
    JONES, Ben JONES, Cathy JONES, Emma JONES, John

    This will get you started. I assume you had the appropriate
    order by clause in your query. I also assume you want 4 columns per
    line.
    My approach would be to convert the query to an array and
    then output the array.
    columns = 4;
    maxrows = 40;
    recordsperpage = columns * rows;
    records = query.recordcount;
    myArray = ArrayNew(2);
    ThisColumn = 1;
    ThisRow = 1;
    if (records gt recordsperpage)
    LoopTill = recordsperpage;
    else
    LoopTill = records;
    for ( ii = 1; ii lte LoopTill; ii = ii + 1){
    myArray[ThisRow][ThisColumn] = query.field[ii];
    increment ThisRow;
    if (ThisRow = MaxRows + 1) {
    ThisRow = 1;
    increment ThisColumn;
    } // if
    } // looop
    You can do the rest

  • Retrieve varchar column from Oracle query in a resulset

    Hi, I'am a begginer in JSP Technologies.
    I've do a small jsp that opens a db connection to an oracle, execute a query a show results.
    When the columns of the query are int I've no problem, the jsp show the columns of the resulset, but when the columns selected are varchars the jsp doesn't show anything....
    Can anyone help me?
    Example:
    Table: CUSTOMERS
    Col1 : ID_COSTUMER int
    Col2: CUSTOMER_NAME varchar
    <%
    Connection canal = null;
    ResultSet tabla = null;
    Statement instruccion=null;
    try { Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    canal=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXp");
    instruccion = canal.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
    } catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e){};
    String Query = "SELECT ID_CUSTOMER FROM CUSTOMERS";
    try { tabla = instruccion.executeQuery(Query);
    out.println("<TABLE Border=10 CellPadding=5><TR>");
    out.println("<TD>CUSTOMER</TD></TR>");
    while(tabla.next()) {
    out.println("<TR>");
    out.println("<TD>"+tabla.getString(1)+"</TD>");
    out.println("</TR>"); };
    out.println("</TABLE></CENTER></DIV></HTML>");
    tabla.close(); instruccion.close(); canal.close();}
    catch(SQLException e) {};
    %>Results:
    CUSTOMER
    1
    2
    3
    4
    Doing the change in query:
    SELECT CUSTOMER_NAME FROM CUSTOMERS
    I have not results....
    Thank you.

    sorry, I misplaced an ending code bracket on last one
    I'm not really familiar with doing this inside a jsp.. but there are a few things that you should try to make sure that it isn't a database problem before assuming it is a problem on your jsp.... It is possible you have already tried the following but just to make sure.
    When you do the second query does the first two out.printlns that are before the while still output? If not then your query is incorrect.
    Second I would try
    String Query = "SELECT ID_CUSTOMER,CUSTOMER_NAME FROM CUSTOMERS";
    try { tabla = instruccion.executeQuery(Query);
    out.println("<TABLE Border=10 CellPadding=5><TR>");
    out.println("<TD>CUSTOMER_ID</TD><TD>CUSTOMER_NAME</TD></TR>");
    while(tabla.next()) {
    out.println("<TR>");
    out.println("<TD>"+tabla.getString(1)+"</TD>");
    out.println("<TD>"+tabla.getString(2)+"</TD>");
    out.println("</TR>"); };
    out.println("</TABLE></CENTER></DIV></HTML>");I suspect this will also return nothing.. if that is the case then you need to check your database. If it does infact return values for the ID and nothing for the NAME then I'm not sure at this point what the problem is.
