Editable table column ordering

Before I embark on a lengthy process of handling drag and drop events, I thought I'd ask the collective knowledge if there was an easy way to create a table in which the operator can modify the order of the columns? I want the operator to be able to reorder the columns, ideally by selecting a column header and dragging it left and right to move its position relative to its neighbours.
Thanks in advance,

Looks good, only missing the logic for the table data itself. See attached...

  • Table Column Ordering Matters when using Forms6i

    Just an FYI on something strange that we encountered...
    We have a Forms application that calls a function within a Package stored in the database. The only parameter to the function is a PL/SQL record that is based on the columns of a table. Our users need to run the application against 2 different database instances. We receve an "ORA-04062: Signature of Package has changed" error message when running the Form against the database that we DID NOT compile the form against. The reason is because the column ordering of the table that the record is based upon is different between the 2 databases.
    Here are the details:
    Setup:
         2 different databases. ( devDB and prdDB )
         1 table:
              On devDB:
                   create table test_file (file_id NUMBER,
    description VARCHAR2(256)
              Same table on prdDB but with different column ordering:
                   create table test_file (description VARCHAR2(256),
    file_id NUMBER
         1 database package in both databases:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PS_TEST AS
         SUBTYPE tr_file IS TEST_FILE%ROWTYPE;
         FUNCTION Create_File( r_file     tr_file ) RETURN NUMBER;
    END PS_TEST;
         1 Oracle Form that fills the tr_file record with data and calls PS_TEST.Create_File passing in the tr_file record.
    Results:
         If the above Form is compiled on the database devDB, trying to run the Forms Executable against prdDB will generate an error message stating: ORA-04062: Signature of Package has changed. If the above Forms executable is run against devDB, everything works fine. The problem is that when the Oracle form is compiled it apparently captures the tr_file signature from the package, which would be something like ( file_id, description ) on devDB since it is specified as %ROWTYPE. When this compiled form is ran against the prdDB database, the package signature is different because the tr_file signature would be something like ( description, file_id ) on prdDB because of the column ordering. The error doesn't occur if you recreate the "devDB" table with the columns in the same order as "prdDB". This would only be a problem with using the %ROWTYPE with PL/SQL records.
    So it appears that column ordering does matter in some situations.
    Thanks.

    would create a cell renderer only once -- the same
    JTextPane is used to render any cell in the table that
    shares the same renderer.Thanks for the reply. It's something I'm going to look into, but I do create only one renderer, and use that one renderer to create new JTextPane subclasses when getCellRendererComponent() is called - hence, there is one renderer, but there are multiple instances of the actual rendered component.
    In the meantime, I'm just marking up the text with HTML to create the presentation I want, and it works okay. It'd be nice if I can get it working with Styles, though.
    Thanks again,

  • Editable table column

    I have a column in a table. The input tag's readOnly attribute is set to false.
    How do I access this new value once I click the tables Update button? Heres the column code.
    <bc4j:column attrName="TableColumnName">
    <columnHeader>
    <bc4j:sortableHeader/>
    </columnHeader>
    <contents>
    <bc4j:input readOnly="false"/>
    </contents>
    </bc4j:column>
    Thanks

    You can use the attrName attribute te set the destination.
    I am not sure what you mean. What I have is a table, which has a column. This column can be edited. When the user types within the textbox, I need to grab the value which was typed into the column. Here's why; these values are being used to populate a new table. This is being taken care of within an event handler. My problem is, when I get within the eventhandler, and retrieve the row, the value that I have at that time is the value which is stored within the database, I need the value that was typed in by the user.In the element reference it's documented as: "The attrName attribute identifies which attribute information to access. If this value is omitted, then the current attrScope will be used."
    If I ommit, the attrName attribute, how will that give me the value I trying to capture within my eventhandler. Thats what I need to figure out. Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

  • Editing table column cell editor dynamically

    I have a table in my webdynpro application. after displaying it in the browser,when a user selects a particular row and click on a edit button i want that specific row to be changed to edit mode .can anyone help me how to do this??
    Edited by: harshith_reddy on Oct 20, 2011 7:49 AM

    Hi harshith reddy ,
    you can create attribute in your node for read only property for the table colums  and get the lead lead selection of the selected line and make it editable field
    below is the sample code snippet .
    NODE = wd_context->get_child_node( name = NODE_NAME').
    element =wd_context->get_element( ).
    *default you can set it to read only
    NODE->set_attribute( value  = 'X'         name   = 'COLOUMN1' ).
    NODE->set_attribute( value  = 'X'         name   = 'COLOUMN1' ).
    *make the selected line editable
    lv_current_index = lo_nd_dist_table->get_lead_selection_index( ).
    if lv_current_index le  0 .
    *   report message
        lv_msg_id = lo_message_manager->report_error_message( message_text = 'Please Select a Line Edit ').
    else.
    NODE->set_attribute( value  = '  '         name   = 'COLOUMN1'  INDEX  = lv_current_index ).
    NODE->set_attribute( value  = '  '         name   = 'COLOUMN2'   INDEX  = lv_current_index  ).
    endif.

  • Dynamic table column editing

    Hi,
    I made a VO with quite complex query (nested subqueries linked with inner join) and when I dragged it from Data Control to the page I didn't get the familiar context menu with implementation options I used to get it earlier.
    Instead of, I got an implemented table with following structure:
    - af:table - t3
    - af:forEach
    - af:column - #{...}
    - af:outputText - #{...}
    Did I get a dynamic table?
    My problem is that I cannot get the list of attributes from VO query and then to edit table columns.
    They are shown in table at runtime but with default properties. I can set up af:column options generally but I need to set up all of the attributes individually.
    Is this a query-level problem or there is another way doing this?

  • Can't change column order from document content type

    Hi,
    I noticed a strange error in our SharePoint 2010 environment:
    We are using a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition which was migrated from a MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition with one central document library.
    In this library are several content types plus the given document content type which was already there.
    When I try to edit the column order in the document content type settings the following error occurs:
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    Description:
    An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and
    where it originated in the code.
    Exception Details:

    Source Error:
    An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location
    of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

    System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +2427
    This error only occurs with the document content type. Furthermore I am not able to reproduce this error on other libraries except when
    I am using a template from this library.
    I tried to delete this content type but every time an error occurs which is saying that the content type is still in use. I checked the entire library and all informations from the SharePoint Manager 2010 Tool but the content type is definitely no longer in
    use.
    I appreciate every little bit of help regarding this problem.
    PS:
     There is also another error concerning every content type in this library: I can’t create a new or use the standard Microsoft document information panel template because every time I try to there also occurs an error which
    states out a NullReferenceException regarding the metadata of this library. But that is another story which is next on my to-do list. First I would like to solve the first error concerning the column order.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Schema Comparisons - Ignore column order

    I'm using SSDT for the first time and I want to be able to ignore column ordering when doing schema comparisons.
    There was a setting in GDR that I cannot find called - "Force table column order to be identical" - does this still exist?
    Also in the old sqldeployment file there was an IgnoreColumnOrder setting. Cannot find either of these.

    It's unfortunate that the general attitude of Microsoft seems to be geared towards coming up with excuses and explanations instead of solutions. I was excited to use schema/data compare in VS2013 but found that it's basically useless to us because of the
    lack of this feature. I'm just glad there are other reasonable programs on the market to do comparisons (RedGate, for example).
    It's evident that each year Microsoft becomes even more detached from reality. People complained about IE, Microsoft didn't solve the problems, and now hardly anyone uses IE. No one is going to use this shoddy comparison tool for the same reasons. You're
    just wasting people's time with incomplete products like this, and that's frustrating and builds resentment in the people who are paying to use your products and services. I'll have no problem jumping ship for any given Microsoft product the second a competitor
    releases something better.

  • How to restrict the columns order movement at runtime in 7.3

    Hi Experts
    We are using EP7.3 Portal.
    We have modified the  Cats table in a customized ESS Cats DC . We have added a another table
    say subTotals table (This table does not have header) to calculate the hours as per business requiremnt just below the cats table with proper allignment.
    Now at run time i.e when launched through Iview in the portal, the user can able to
    personalize the columns order of Cats Table (Moving columns from one place to other) by Right click on the
    table>User settings->other-->Re Arrange the columns
    We have 2 tables so moving the first table column order will effect the second table which displays the totals (This is readonly)
    Our requirement is we should not allow the user to change the column order at run time (At least we need to restrict 8 columns outof 13 to 14 columns)
    How can we restrict the columns order through code i.e by controlling the property if any

  • Rename of table column messed up field in Edit Screen

    I renamed a table column. I have a report page with an edit form page tied to it based on this table. I changed the SQL statement in the Region Source on the report. The appropriate column value is displayed in the report. I changed the Page Item name on the Edit Form page. I changed the Source Value to match the new field name.
    The problem I am running into is when I run the Edit Form page and change the value in the item of the renamed column, the field in the database table is blanked out. Even if I change the value to be the same value, the column is blanked out.
    What did I miss in renaming the table column?

    I've had a similar problem. I added a couple of new columns to a table and attempted to manually add the fields to an existing form. However, as described above, whatever value was entered on the screen, a NULL was stored on the database.
    I created a new form using the Form Wizard and copied the columns between pages and got them working. In the process, I tracked the problem down to the variable name.
    For example: for the column PRC_SCHEDULABLE, a item named P5_SCHEDULABLE works but any other item name produces the NULL problem.

  • How to Sort Dimension in Pivot Table via Order Column which is changing like Factual values

    Hi,
    Recently in of our product offerings we got stuck on this following question:
    How to Sort Dimension based on the Order Value which Keeps Changing with Factual Values??
    We have a data source laid out as (example)
    In the above the “Order” columns are changing per
    Company/(DimensionA) for DimesnsionB.
    Instead what we want is: (But only if we can get the following result without putting the “Order” Column in the “Values” Section.
    If there are any configurations that we can make to our power pivot model for the similar data set so that the
    DimesnionB in this case can be sorted by the Order column, would be greatly helpful to us.
    Sample File:
    http://tms.managility.com.au/query_example.xlsx
    Thanks
    Amol

    Hi Amol,
    According to your description, you need to sort dimension members in Pivot Table via order column, and you don't want the order column show on the Pivot table, right?
    Based on my research, we can sort the data on the Pivot table based on one of the columns in that table, and we cannot sort the data based on the columns that not existed on the Pivot table. So in your scenario, to achieve your requirement, you can
    add the column to pivot table and hide it.

    Hi,
    See, if you bind only one attribute to the readonly then the entire column would be readonly or editable. I can think of two ways to solve this problem.
    1. Add a new attribute to your node like _readonly
    Bind this _readonly to the celleditor readonly property of the table coulmn.
    You can fill this attribute either in the back end per row or loop through the node in the webdynpro and by default set it false. Enable true based on your condition.
    2.Bind the attribute property read_only to the cell_editor  readonly property of the table column.
    Based on your condition use the if_wd_context_element method set_attribute_property to set read_only property true or false.

    I am using JDeveloper 12c.
    I want to know why ADF selected input string: "2013-10-06 01:00:00.0"  for parsing? maybe it took wrong value. I just made one column: YardFixedSlot.STATUS_C ediable. input string: "2013-10-06 01:00:00.0" is a value for row key column: YardFixedSlotRecomm.START_DT.
    The row key compose of 4 columns with  respective types: [Interger,String ,Interger, Timestamp]
    YardFixedSlot.FIXED_SLOT_ID
    YardBlock.BLOCK_M AS BLOCK_M1
    FxedSlotRecomm.FIXED_SLOT_ID AS FIXED_SLOT_ID1
    YardFixedSlotRecomm.START_DT
    But error message show 3 parameters:
    Root cause error code is JBO-25009. Error message parameters are {0=java.lang.Integer, 1=2013-10-06 01:00:00.0, 2=java.sql.Timestamp}

  • Column Order in a pivot table

    Hi,
    I have a question about the column order in a Pivot Table in a WebI (xi r3.1) report
    At the moment I have the following Pivot Table
                       |1                                                 |  2
                       | Produced Water | Produced Oil  |  Produced Water | Produced Oil
    Platform 1   | 2                         | 3                    |  4                         | 5
    Platform 2   | 3                         | 4                    |  5                         | 6
    I want to have the following pivot table instead
                        | Produced Water                         |  Produced Oil
                        | 1                         | 2                    |  1                         | 2
    Platform 1    | 2                         | 4                    |  3                         | 5
    Platform 2    | 3                         | 5                    |  4                         | 6
    Is it possible to setup the above pivot table in a WebI report?
    Many Thanks for any help,
    Dirk Jan

    Dirk Jan,
    That's a question regurlarly asked to me by users and the solution (as long as nobody is comming up with a better one) is to create variables for the measures for each month (using the WHERE operator).
    So you need to define 12 variables (for each month) for Product Oil and Product Water (PO month1, PO month 2, ...., PW month 1, PW month 2 ....) using the formula (eg. PO month1):
    =[Product Oil] Where ([month] = 1)
    Then instead of a crosstab you build a table where you can put the variables in any order you want.

  • Disabling validations if the first column is empty in an editable table

    Hi ,
    I'd want to disable validations if the first column in an editable table is empty - coz we'd assume that the user does not want to enter any data in the new row. How can this be done ?

    Hi Viren,
    It is correct that the first line for every Master Data is an empty row, if I am not wrong it derives from SEM settings.
    1.If you have some rows with 0CUST_SALES without any attribute it is because you are uploading this MAster Data with a source that does not consider compound objects: it is surely a Transactional DataSource (you do not upload Attributes). So for every Transactional record for which you do not upload also compound objects the system creates a record in your Master Data that is not correct.
    2. If you do not have Distr Channel update in Inventory Cube I think you must re-upload all your request starting from PSA. If you have deleted your PSA you can create a DataSource on your cube and feed once again your cube with its same data (built Update Rules that start from Cube and end in the same Cube). Make an upload of all your request and the delete all previous request.
    Ciao.
    Riccardo.
