Editing a Modified Applet

Hi all!
I have modified an Applet using the HTML converter and have then tried to add a javascript function to the HTML code.
However, when I try and load the applet in the web browser, I get an error message stating that the program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
What I wish to know is how do I edit an applet once it has been modified by the HTML converter?
Are there any rules for this?
For example, does all the HTML code have to be added to the applet first and then converted as a whole or can code be added in after the applet has been converted?

The HTML converter simply translates your HTML that included an <APPLET> tag into HTML that includes and <OBJECT> tag for Internet Exmplorer and an <EMBED> tag for Netscape.
You can edit the resultant HTML to your hearts content.

You need the fla file that created the swf. You edit the fla and publish the swf. Swf's don't usually involve css styles.

Javascript to do inline edits on web applet reports

This would be a weired idea, i created a web applet report for some users of mine. I gave them a link that will take them to the particular record, now they were wondering if they could do an inline edit - which i flatly refused.
I was wondering if any of you have done it with some javascript functionalities.

Imovie 08 glitches - can't select/edit/or modify clips with

I have used imovie 08 for multiple projects with no problems. My HD has plenty of space, and imovie is the only application open.
I can download video and audio from a camera in the events pane. Here are the problems:
1. Can skim the event video, but can't see where I am at or control the vertical line that runs left to right.
2. I can't select a specific piece of video out of the events pane to put in the project pane unless it is pre-cut/already there.
3. Once the video clip goes from event into project pane, I cannot trim it in any way.
4. I can get it to pull up cropping and audio.
Basically, I can't tell where I am at in the events pane while skimming, and I also cannot select peices of clips in the events pane. I also can't trim video in the project pane once some video goes in there.
Any help would be appreciated. It has worked great for three months of several projects, and now it is really acting up.

Have the exact same problem, up till now everything worked fine. Not sure when it started, various OS - iApps - QT updates recently, but here it is. I dragged a 90 minute .mov file to the clips pane, 55 minutes of importing (including the 5 minute beach ball at the end) and although the drop down finder bar menus work I can't select anything in the window including the clip itself, timeline/clip viewer switch, or the red-yellow-green buttons at the top left corner. Although "select all" is available in the edit drop down menu nothing selects. Tried tossing the com.apple.imovie.plist with no change. Opened a new movie with nothing imported same thing.
Any ideas?

The window where Domain Name, Edit, Modify doesn't show up to access my Fatcow website on my new iMac in Firefox (the only browser Macs can use). Help!

Just got a new iMac. For the first few days, I was able to log in to, then access the window in Fatcow web host that allows me to make changes to my website. Now, the window that is supposed to say "Domain Name" and "Edit" and "Modify" is blank, so I cannot access my website to make changes. Firefox is the only browser available to Macs through Fatcow. In the two weeks before getting the iMac, I had the same problem on an Acer laptop. Hughesnet is our internet provider, since we live in the country. I have worked with several Fatcow techs, and they do not believe the problem is on their end. When I open Firefox, there is now also a message that says I'm missing plugins, yet when I follow the plugin link, no plugins are listed as missing. I have removed/reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. I have turned off the clear-cookies-automatically add-on, cleared the cache and history, etc., to no avail. I have printed out the HTML script for the Fatcow window from my Mac at work (from which I can access the window) and compared to the one at home. There doesn't appear to be any script missing, but I can't say for sure. I have read several articles, hoping for clues to fixing this problem. Now I need your technical expertise. HELP!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Edit locally option using Applet not working

We do not want to use Activex control for editing a document locally,
so we are left with Applet option.
The steps we have followed for using the Applet:
1) Configuration -- Content Management -- Utilities -- Editing ,
Active component : Applet, Java Runtime version : 1.4
2) We have followed the note : 594980 but could find the
htmlb.properties file at the path specified in the note, so we searched
for it in our portal, we could find htmlb.properties file in the below
mentioned path:

1) Install JRE 1.4 on the client PC where you want to edit the document locally

Is it possible to pass a string from an applet to the web site?

Hi, everybody!
Is it possible to pass a String from an applet to a web site (as a field value in a form, an ASP variable, or anything else). Basically, I have a pretty large String that is being edited by an applet. When a user clicks on the submit button, a different page will show up which has to display the modified string. The String is pretty large so it doesn't fit into the URL variable.

Why do you want to do this in Java?
Javascript is the correct language for these type of situations.

Is it possible to edit or modify the (file) size of a photo using iPhoto? Thanks.

I've uploaded a couple of photos to my .Mac site, but when I view them on my website, the photo takes up the whole page rather than just a small part of it.
I hand-code the pages I upload to my .Mac site using.
I know I can do this using Adobe Photoshop but that's an added expense I really can't afford right now.

How to only edit one state when creating an animated .gif?

I created my first anaimated .gif image the other day. Now when I try to create a new one everytime I duplicate state and try to edit just the duplicated state all states are updated. I only click on one state then as soon as I do something it updates all of them! How do I turn this off? It's driving me nuts I've been messing with it for over 2 hours! Ahhh.... thanks!

Hi,
what's your Fireworks version? You should be able to edit and modify any state in an animated gif without all the States to modify.
Now all depends on what you have in your States. For example, if you have symbol 1 in State 1, you duplicate your State and get symbol 1 in State 2. When you modify symbol 1 all the symbols 1 will be modified at the same time.

[SOLVED] GNOME 3.8 Classic mode - can't edit panels

Hi!
I've just switched from MATE to GNOME (3.8.4).
I use gnome-classic ("gnome-session --session gnome-classic" opened from whether gdm or slim/xinitrc).
How do I edit panels and applets on them?
I know that Alt+Right click on the panel doesn't always work and everybody recommends Super+Alt+Right click on a panel but it doesn't work for me either.
I also tried a lot of other shortcut combinations (Ctrl+Super+Alt+Right Click, Shift+Super+Alt+Right Click, etc.), I still can't get the menu to show.
I tried clicking both on top and bottom panels.
How do I debug this?
I tried removing all user configs (.config/dconf, .config/gconf, .config/gtk*, etc.), creating a new user, reinstalling GNOME, nothing helped.
I also tried default gnome-session (without any flashbacks/fallbacks/classic parameters). It doesn't work there either.

Applets and File I/O

As an attempt to familiarize myself with Java, I decided to create an applet to display my collection of collectible trading cards so that other collectors could view it and offer trades. The data is stored in a .txt file, which the applet reads when setting things up. The data is never edited by the applet, only read. Everything is working fine until I put the applet on the web page.
At first, I ran into the security problem that it appears others have run into, and I searched the forums to figure out what to do about that. I'm not getting security exceptions any longer, I'm merely getting a "File Not Found" issue instead.
The data file is included in the .jar file, so I didn't think I'd have to do anything other than this when I try to open the file stream:

But this is what I see when I attempt to open the page:

After some investigation, I added a getCodeBase() before the file name to tell it explicity where to look. Now I'm seeing this:

I changed the file name from before and omitted the first part of the URL for privacy reasons. But what baffles me is that I can paste the full URL for the file it says it can't find into my browser, and the file pops up exactly as I would expect. I've tried this on two different web pages, and the only differece in the error is the first part of the URL, so I know the getCodeBase call is working properly. Has anyone seen this problem where it can't find the file despite the URL being correct? More importantly, does anyone know what to do about it?

Editing a downloaded document "in place" and re-uploading it

The issue we're running into, is that when a user wants to download a document, the user is presented with the choice of opening or saving the downloaded document. That works OK, but what we'd really like to do is offer the user a chance to edit the downloaded document and then by saving the changes (such as by closing the window in which the downloaded document appears, after making edits), the modified document is "re-uploaded" to the database. What we have to do now is save the download document to the user's PC, then the user has to open the document and modify it, save it, and re-upload it to the database.
Any ideas on how we can save the users a few steps and upload the document directly after editing? Thanks.

Then the answer is no. The file needs to be saved down to CS5.5 or exported as IDML from CS6.

Problems with editing/opening PDF's in Acrobat X

We have 2 situations going on with Acrobat X:
1. We are scanning drawings on a Xerox Wide Format scanner to PDF's. When I open them in Acrobat 8 Pro I can rotate and edit them. When my boss opens them in Acrobat X the same file opens as a PDF/A and he can't do anything with them. Any thoughts on how we can change this?
2. When my boss get's PDF attachements in his email he is not able to open them, he has to email them to me so I can open them in Acrobat 8 Pro.
We were considering upgrading the whole office to the latest version of Acrobat but until we can get these 2 basic items solved it won't happen. Any help is appriciated.
We are running Macs with OS X verison 10.8.4

Hi Christina,
For first issue, you are scanning your PDFs as PDF/A i.e why Acrobat 10 cannot edit them. (Acrobat 8 could edit PDF/A, this feature not to enable editing on PDF/A files were added in later versions). Now you can:
1. Either turnoff the checkbox to create PDF/A while scanning as shown in image below: You need to click on "PDF Output Options" button on the scan dialog to access this and other options.
or
2. When you open PDF/A in Acrobat X, you will get a blue message bar at the top, saying that "This file has been opened read only" along with the button "Enable Editing". You can click on "Enable Editing" to modify the pdf. See image below:
This should take care of the first issue.
Regarding the second issue of PDF attachments, I am not sure what could be the problem. It may be an OS issue related to file association. You can try associating the pdf files to Acrobat. To do this, Right Click on any pdf file and click "Get Info", then under "Open With" panel, select Acrobat and click on "Change All". See image below:

Have an application that allows for both uploads of documents (using a File Browse item and transferring the relevant fields from the HTMLDB_APPLICATIION_FILES view to my customized table) and downloads of documents (using a call via a URL to a customized copy of the Oracle download procedure presented in the sample application). The issue I'm running into, is that when a user wants to download a document, the user is presented with the choice of opening or saving the downloaded document. That works OK, but what we'd really like to do is offer the user a chance to edit the downloaded document and then by saving the changes (such as by closing the window in which the downloaded document appears, after making edits), the modified document is "re-uploaded" to the database. What we have to do now is save the download document to the user's PC, then the user has to open the document and modify it, save it, and re-upload it to the database.
Any ideas on how we can save the users a few steps and upload the document directly after editing? Thanks.

Well, you can only do that when the content being edited is plain text (mime type text/plain) and less than 32K (hard limit in PL/SQL)
Looking at how that page (4000:46) is built in f4000.sql, there seem to be some APIs that do some magic

Search around on asktom.oracle.com, I am sure you will find code examples that do this sort of thing.
