Editing a software created with labview

Hi
I have a software which was created using labview. it is basically a sofware to control a laser machine used for material deposition. i also i have the source code for the software. I want to make some modifications to the program. When i make some changes in the source code. i see that there is no change in the actual software which is an exe file. so how can i overcome this problem? I guess once i make the changes to the source code I need to create a new excecutable file from all the VI's. So I want to know how can i make a new exe file from the changed VIs.
I want to know what is the difference between the following
.vi file
.llb file
.lvllb file
Thanks in advance

Vikas,
when working in LV, you have an edit time compiler, compiling you source code (the block diagram) into executable code. Still, you need the developement system to  start the execution of this code.
Therefore, you will create a *.exe file out of your application when finishing all changes in order to execute the application without the need of the developement system (still you need the LV Runtime Engine).
VIs are the modules in LV and they consist of three parts stored on disk:
a) Frontpanel, the interface (IO or user interface)
b) Block Diagram, uncompiled sourcecode
c) compiled sourcecode
LLBs are the old version of LV libraries:
+ free naming (obsolete since break up of 8.3 naming convention)
+- VIs contained in the LLB are slightly packed
+-single file (good for deployment, bad for SCC)
lvlibs are new LV libraries:
+ lvlib-file is XML based "filehandler"
+ namespacing allows same VI names in memory (still bad idea for disk!)
+ VIs know about "their" lvlib
- Under certain circumstances maybe a little confusing for deployment
hope this helps,

I am trying to edit a form created with LiveCycle version 8.08.2073 (installed with Adobe Pro 8).  I am using LiveCycle version ES (installed with Adobe Pro 9).  I can open the fhe form, but the tools are greyed out.  It apears the file is locked for editing, but I cannot determine where/how to unlock it.

You should try to start in safe mode which runs a file check. You hold the shift key down during a start up till there is a progress bar towards thr bottom of the screen. This start will take a longer time than normal. In safe mode try the functioins you are having problems with to see if there is an improvement. Some links below to read.

If the form was created using LCD then it can only be edited there. This
application used to be bundled with Acrobat Pro, but that's no longer the
case. So if you want to edit this file then you need to purchase it, yes.

  • Editing a webpage created with Frontpage

Is there any software available that will allow my mac to edit and continue working with a html website that was originally created with Microsoft Frontpage? This is the only part of my ex-windows based past that I haven't been able to fully switch to my Mac!

Give me an example of a software program that will let me open and edit a page previously created with Frontpage. I have attempted with Rapid Weaver. Thanks for your help!!

  • Editing a form created with trial version of XI

I have some forms that I have created with the trial version of Adobe XI and now I need to edit them. I keep getting an error that says the file is restricted and asks me to save a copy that is not restricted. When I save the copy, it won't let me edit that copy either.... HELP!!!!

Pay close attention to the saving process. When you save a copy, it makes a NEW COPY of the file, and leaves you with the old file open. You therefore have to CLOSE the file you have open, and OPEN THE COPY.
In general, be sure to save PDF files BEFORE adding the special rights, because you sometimes can't go back at all.

  • Cannot trim or edit a movie created with a Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 camera?

Hi there people. I've created some mpeg movies using my Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 then copied them onto my Imac. I want to trim the start and end of the movie which i know is possible within Quicktime as i've done it with other video formats from other sources and you just drag the selection markers on the playback bar to the desired points then re-save. However when i open the mpegs in Quicktime created with the Sony camera, the in and out selection markers are not there? Can somebody help me with this situation as it's driving me nuts. I have the full Quicktime Pro version too so know that's not an issue.
I've exported the mpeg as an Mp4 as a test and it then lets me edit but i'm losing video quality. I've also got a program called MPEG streamclip which lets me clip the mpeg but still getting the quality loss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Multiplexed compression formats have never been "fully" supported by QT. And, as a result of a number of recent updates, many of the "contextual" features are now correctly turned off when they should be turned off while others "partially" work even when they shouldn't. When dealing with multiplexed files, you should use an MPEG-based, third-party application like MPEG Streamclip to ensure all features are properly functioning.
I've also got a program called MPEG streamclip which lets me clip the mpeg but still getting the quality loss.
If you use the "Save As..." option to save your files after trimming, there should be absolutely no loss in quality since there is no re-compression of the data. (I.e., the trimmed data is simply copied to a new file container.) On the other hand, if you are exporting the data after trimming, then there is always an opportunity for a loss in visual quality -- especially if you use a lower data rate than your source in order to create smaller files. In this case your are actually "throwing away" data which is what causes your loss in quality.

  • Editing a site created with Iweb - with another program

    Hello,
I built a website for a friend and he wants to be able to make small changes on it from time to time and I downloaded a WYSIWYG editor and none of them are compatible with sites created with Iweb...
Does anyone have any suggestions? He runs a windows machine.
    Thank you so much!!!

Well, not really. A lot of people have their sites built for them and then, with a little guidance, can change out photos, or do a little editing here and there. So your idea certainly has merit.
The problem is, iWeb is a unique html generator. It stores everything you create in the application in a single file, (Domain.sites2), and only the application itself can open this file for editing. iWeb doesn't even create the html until you publish the site, either to a folder or to an Apple server. iWeb also changes many things into .png files--including text--believe it or not, in a well intentioned effort to cross platform better with other browser applications. So even simple text editors, which would normally be fine for changing small things in most websites, will struggle.
Your idea was a good one; it is iWeb that isn't a good candidate for it.
You must therefore now convince this person to become an Apnewbie, and buy a Mac!

  • How to edit a PDF created with Acrobat XI Pro after signatures have been applied (like I can in 7, 8.0

I have a major issue that I need to resolve before we can purchase Acrobat XI Pro:
Currently, with Acrobat 8.1 Pro, after all signatories sign a document, we add an Effective Date (we add it after they sign since we don't know when the last signature will be acquired and we can't have an Effective Date that is before the date of the last signatory, otherwise, it would be effective before they signed it, which is not possible). I'm also allowed the latitude (as stated in our Documentation Control procedure) to make spelling corrections, hyperlink updates and minor formatting changes (by using the typewriter tool and also by replacing a page that is NOT the signed page if the change repaginates the document or involves modifying a hyperlink that has changed).
In all of the previous versions of Acrobat that we've used (7 Pro, 8 Pro and 8.1 Pro) , this has been easily possible and all changes would be listed under the Signatures tab, which is exactly what we want, which is traceability.
I'm using the trial version of Acrobat XI Pro now but am getting the message "This document is signed and can not be edited." If I bring the same PDF that was created from Word 2003 & 2013 using Acrobat XI Pro into 8.1 Pro, though, I CAN add the date, use the typewriter tool and replace non-signed pages, save it and exit without clearing or losing any signatures.
My question is this: How can I do this in Acrobat XI Pro, as XI Pro (in the Signature pane) also lists the changes made to the document when it was edited using 8.1 Pro? (It's OK that the changes made to the PDF then mark the signatures as "invalid", as the reason why they were invalidated is also listed in the Signature pane, e.g. "Form Field Added", which is usually the applied Effective Date.)
    Thanks for any help!

Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

  • How do i edit a site created with iweb

I created a site last year with iweb, but now when I try to open it, it only lets me create a new site.  I can see the thumbnail in my finder view, but cannot edit it. Help.
    Thanks in advance

    Try this:
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Cannot execute a library created with Labview 2011 in visual C++

I created a very simple DLL in Labview 2011, then, I try to call this DLL from a Visual C++ 2005 application.
I have tried to load the DLL at compilation time with the .LIB and .H files, and also dynamically with AfxLoadLibrary.
When I try to call the library function, it works fine, but the second time i call the library freezes the app.
all the library does is to show a simple dialog box and that's it, no params, no returns, no nothing,
but it freezes the app, why the VI works in Labview, but in DLL doesn't?

    Hi Alveru,
What might be happening is that the process never ends and when you try to re call it, it fails and that it is why your app freezes, what you can do to probe is that is what is happening is to test your DLL directlly in LabVIEW with the Call Library Function Node so you can import the DLL and test it. If it also freezes or not work as expected the problem is with the DLL.
The proceses are automatically closed by LabVIEW at the moment the VI stops running; however, when you deploy the vi, you need to close them manually.
    Try this out!!

  • Some pictures not available to edit in movie created with stills

some pictures seem to be "behind" other pictures. this has something to do with adding transitions as i found when i deleted a particular slide; others would appear. now i have a particular slide i want to remove but it is located behind another slide. is there a way to pull that one forward without deleting the transition?
in the timeline view i can move the indexer along the timeline until right in the middle of the slide, another slide will appear on the preview screen.
all slides work well when the entire show runs.

Everything goes according to plan, until I try to 'open' into iMovie.
You must IMPORT it into imovie.
Once in iMovie, you can do your edits. If it's one series of clips it will come in as one movie.

Does anyone know how to edit a sub menu that was created

Alternatively, one of my pages appears to be stuck on the server

create a link to) so does anyone know how I'd re-set it or
