Editing Form Fields

I need to integrate a 3rd party conversion tool and they want me to update the form field names and I wanted to double check that this doesn't break anything in BC.
Does BC use the field input name or input field ID to track the data?  Can I change either without breaking anything?
<tr>
                <td><label for="FirstName">First Name <span class="req">*</span></label><br />
                <input type="text" name="FirstName" id="FirstName" class="cat_textbox" maxlength="255" /> </td>
            </tr>
            <tr>

Yes. It needs to know which field it is so it can enter the data in the system. If you change it it won't find it.

  • What is the best method of making revisions to a PDF document with editable form fields?

I created several documents/forms in Microsoft Word in order to use tables for formatting, then turned them into PDFs using Acrobat X Pro.  The auto form field recognition feature in Acrobat doesn't always recognize every field in the document, so I had to manually create some of them and alter their properties for correct font size, scroll long text, etc.  I now need to revise / add more information to the documents.  The only thing I know to do is to make these revisions to the original Word document, save as PDF, and redo all editable form fields again.  Is there an easier way to edit these documents while keeping the current editable fields and their properties?  Thanks.

Thank you!  That seems to work fine and keeps my old editable form fields.

  • Quick Tip: How to create editable form fields | Acrobat X Tips & Tricks | Adobe TV

A short tip that details how to create editable form fields using Acrobat X Std. or Pro.
    http://adobe.ly/wzXkmL

I have created a form which will be filled out by customers and sent back to me via 'submit' button. What I am trying to figure out is when we receive the filled out form, is there any way to have it as a pdf. To clarify, when the form is filled out and sent, the receiver opens the email and attached is a non-editable pdf. This way the customers information is no longer editable.

  • I need to substitute the default font (times roman) in my editable form fields with a san serif...

I am making a PDF with editable form fields out of InDesign CS6. When I make the interactive PDF, the font, Helvetica Neue  is being substituted with the default font, Times Roman. The client has provided me with last years PDF which has a nice San Serif for the editable fields. I need to change the font either to Helvetica Neue, or at least to a nice San Serif common system font. I have Acrobat X.
    Thanks in advance!!

I called a friend of mine who walked me through this so I will post the instructions for anyone else who may be having this problem...
    1. Open the PDF with the form fields in a recent version of Acrobat.
    2. Click on the Toolls tab.
    3. Under Forms, click Edit.
    4. Now you will see your fields listed under "Field" > "Sort by"...  "Text Field 1"...  etc.
    5. Holding "control" click where it says "Text Field 1" and some options will pop up.
    6. Click on "Properties".
    7. A "Text Fields Properties" window will pop up.
    8. Click on the "Appearance" tab.
    9. Here you can change your fonts and font sizes.
    Good luck!

  • Editing Form Fields inside Acrobat? (after using LiveCycle Designer)

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended ==  Acrobat
LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 == LiveCycle Designer
    =========================================
Say I downloaded a new PDF from the interwebs.
I want to add some forms fields so I go to Forms ==> Add or Edit Fields... (inside Acrobat)
Now Acrobat will detect possible places where to add the form fields. I make changes etc. Then I am  satisfied with my form fields.
Now say I want to remove a particular object from the PDF, lets take an image as an example.
So I fire up  LiveCycle Designer; File ==> New ==> Import a PDF document ==>  Create an Interactive Form with a Flowable Layout.
I remove that pesky little object.
In LiveCycle Designer, I save the file as PDF.
I open up Acrobat. I realize I need to make some more changes to some of the Form  Fields.
But now instead of "Add or Edit Fields..." option I get "Edit Form in  Designer..."
I hate the GUI of LiveCycle Designer --- I had rather edit the form  fields from inside Acrobat, as it is easy and fast to change multiple  form fields in a few clicks.

Thank you Niall for the above response; Your response gave me an idea which allowed me to remove that line by zooming in to 200%
You know Acrobat detects Form Fields for you.
But many times it makes mistakes, for example in the screenshot below it made the boxes that came with the PDF as text fields instead of check boxes.
The thing is rather than me delete the (form) fields it detected, and start over by making new check boxes, I will not be able to place my new check box in exact locations as Acrobat has done.
When I imported the fields that Acrobat made into LC (by saving the PDF in Acrobat and then opening it with LC) I get option to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box when I right click the object.
Is there a similar way to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box inside Acrobat? Any suggestions?
    ===========
I would really like to do it inside Acrobat because then if I have to make some minor changes to some field properties, all my hard work which I did by filling the fields gets deleted, as I am forced to use LC. The text I add to the fields don't get deleted when I edit the field properties inside Acrobat. I don't know why LC decides to delete all the text which is filled out in the form fields even though the PDF is saved in Acrobat before being imported into LC?
Here is the above PDF file with the text boxes:

Again thanks for all your guidance so far.

  • No editable form fields in ABAP Web Dynpro

    Hi,
I created a form with layout type ZCI. The interface type is "ABAP Dictionary-Based Interface".
This form I embedded in a abap web dynpro component.
In the ABAP WD interactive form element I marked the enabled property.
Unfortunately the displayed form fields are not editable.
When I use a interface of type "XML-Schema-Based Interface" the fields are editable.
Is this a bug or is something missing?
    I am using Live Cycle Designer 8.1 and SAP_BASIS 7.0, EHP 2, SP07
    Thank you and best regards,
    Eddy

    Hi Eddy,
In your Interface, you probably have to pass the "Fillable" flag in your importing /1BCDWB/DOCPARAMS structure.
I've developed many forms over the past few years and have learned that when using web dynpro, it's almsot exclusiely easier to use the XML-based schema than DDIC.
The only time I'm using DDIC instead of XML when in WDA, is because I'm having to pass in rich text formatted objects through a Text Node.

  • Edit form fields to be check boxes?

once the fields have been automatically made, how do you make them check boxes?

    Hi jaya67496045,
Could you please be more specific on the same.
What type of form fields have you used in the PDF that you wish to convert to check boxes?
Using Acrobat, you can simply choose "Tools> Forms> Edit" and add check box to the desired place in the PDF.
Is this what you really wish for?
    Please let me know.
    Regards,

  • Cannot edit PDF form fields

    Windows 8.1, IE 11, Acrobat Reader (11.0.10), Acrobat Pro X1 (11.0.10)
I received a PDF that contains what are supposedly editable form fields. When I open the document in Adobe Reader (11.0.10), a green bar appears above the top of the document stating that "This file includes fillable form fields. You can print the completed form and save it to your device of Acrobat.com", however, I am unable to type into any of the fields. Its document properties indicate that the file has "No Security", and that all operations are marked as "Allowed". I click "Highlight Existing Fields" and all the fields (dozens of them) appear highlighted, as expected. I simply cannot enter any data into the form.
To investigate further, I opened the file in Acrobat XI (11.0.1), and enter Form editing mode (Tools->Forms->Edit).  I am unable to directly edit the form fields by clicking on them directly. There doesn't seem to be any invisible graphic layered on top of everything. The individual fields almost seem "disabled". I can, however see the list of fields in the navigation pane, and click on them individually from there and bring up their properties and modify them that way. I have checked the field properties and they all seem to be enabled, not locked, not read-only, etc...so I am at a loss as to what is preventing this form from being filled out in Reader, or edited normally in Acrobat.
Additional info: I checked the document properties, (Document Propertied-->Description) and in the "Advanced" section, the PDF producer says that the PDF version is 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) so I suspect this might be part of the problem. I therefore did a "Save as other...-->Reader Extended PDF-->Enable More Tools" as an attempt to upgrade the file, but that didn't help.
    Any help appreciated!

  • Why does Acrobat crash every time I try to organize form fields?

I am working on an 18 page pdf that was created in InDesign. I am copying and pasting fields from an existing document to retain importability. Every time I drag a field to a new location in the field menu, Acrobat crashes. Any idea how to fix this? My software is up-to-date, and I am working on a Retina display MacBook Pro hooked up to a Thunderbolt display. I have had nothing but issues with Acrobat since upgrading to Creative Cloud. I know that there were issues a few months ago with Acrobat & the Retina display MBPs....does this have anything to do with that?

As a test, try the following preferences:
Acrobat > Preferences > Forms > Automatically adjust tab order when modifying fields [Deselect]
    and:
Acrobat > Preferences > Forms > Show field preview when creating or editing form fields [Deselect]
So deselect if either are selected. No guarantees, but it's something to try.

  • Form Field Mode in Acrobat X Standard?

My company is currently using Acrobat 9 Pro to design forms and we’re constantly using the “Add or Edit Form Fields” function. We also resize, and modify the properties of each form field in “Form Field mode”. Are these features found in Acrobat X Standard or do we have to get X Pro?

Yes, you can create and edit forms with Standard. It won't allow you to add/edit document-level JavaScripts or add the digital signature usage right when Reader-enablinga document, however.

  • Acrobat X keeps crashing in Edit Forms mode

    Hi!
I use Acrobat primarily to edit forms I made before I started using LiveCycle.  I have recently used the adobe cleaner and reinstalled all of CS.5 (because I couldn't figure out how to uninstall Acrobat alone), I am on Windows XP 64 bit--- Acrobat stopped crashing for a few days after the reinstall, now it's crashing when I try to edit form fields.  I have a deadline to meet for some form edits... please help?
    Many thanks,
    Laura

    Hi again,
I tried Adobe's help/customer support/chat thing to try to find out why this is happening, and the answer I received was that I had to rebuild my 11-page, 665-field form from scratch. Yikes!  All my fields are "hand-made", or customized from "detect form fields": there's no quickie way to recreate them.
The person I spoke with said the problem was that the underlying page layout had originally been built in aiCS3 (though I've edited it in CS5.5 since), and so it was too old to use in Acrobat anymore.
It's puzzling- I had been able to make my layout edits in ai, then field edits in Acrobat, up until a couple of weeks ago.
I'm growing concerned that all my forms will become obsolete after a couple of years.  That's scary for a company, to have to have all its custom-built and branded forms rebuilt from scratch every year and half or so.
    Am I understanding this correctly?
Thanks for any help or information,
    Laura

  • SharePoint 2013 July 2014 CU - People Picker fields empty in Edit forms

After applying the July 2014 CU for SharePoint server, I discovered that Person or Group (People Picker) fields are not populated with server values in list item Edit forms.  However, the field values can be viewed in list views
and in Display forms.  I examined the client side code and determined that field data is not being returned from the server for Edit forms.
In a test environment, I uninstalled SharePoint 2013, reinstalled SP 2013 with SP1 and the issue went away.  I then applied the May 2014, June 2014, and July 2014 CUs.  The issue did not exist after applying the May and June CUs.  It
did exist after applying the July 2014 CU.

There is a workaround for this issue.  It's a little convoluted, but hey, it's SharePoint.  First, you must have a list that has at least one entry in it.
To begin with, you must first
have a list with at least one item in the list.
Next you edit the item with a role that has at least Design privilege, but don't save your changes.
Instead you Edit the page so you can then edit that web part.  You can edit the page by clicking on the cog icon and selecting Edit Page
    Edit the web part itself
Under “Miscellaneous” section on the just exposed web part window, select "Server Render (Server Render)" in the drop down labeled “CSR Render Mode
Click on “Apply” button within the web part
    Save
I was told also the Sept CU would fix the issue but it is under review and to wait until the first of October.  Incidentally we found that if you put the entire list into Quick Edit mode, the issue does
    not appear.
    I hope this helps someone.
