i bought an imac g5 1.8 gig off ebay with os 10.3.5, the problem is the browser wont load videos animations etc and sometimes when rolling the mouse over highlighted text it just disappears. i suspect this may be flash orientated problem but when i find a version of flash(9) to download it disappears under the mouse again and i cant download, any help please?
i have the original 10.3.5 discs which are the grey ones

seems hard to belive that i should have to scrap a perfectly good machine(easily comparable with a pentium running xp) because of a software issue that apple have failed to address, i could probably buy a dual core machine for the price of apples os
PowerPCs are NOWHERE NEAR comparable to Intel Macs. They run hotter, slower, and they're just plain obsolete.
I had a 1st Gen G5 iMac. Whether I used iDVD or Toast,it took NO LESS than 18 hours to burn a 2 hour DVD from a video file.
My Intel MacBook Pro could do it in TWENTY MINUTES. My Corei5 Mini can do it in TEN.
PowerPCs were no longer sold (new) in 2006 - eight years ago. Apple hasn't supported them since October of 2009. more than four years ago.
Yes, it may still be a "working" computer, but it isn't "perfectly good" by a long shot... because it's comparable to a Sony Betamax VCR or an 8-track tape player from a usability standpoint.
Apple addressed the PowerPC issue. They got rid of them.

Safari can't load adf.ly server, what to do ?

It appears that currently Dynamic Web TWAIN Plug-in for Mac doesn't support Safari 5.0 when it's run in 64-bit mode (5.1 or above is ok) . Therefore you need to run Safari 5.0 in 32-bit in order to use Dynamic Web TWAIN Plug-in for Mac. i changed it to 32bit mode and it worked for adf.ly servers.

How can I load videos from a GoPro camera to photo stream? I can download pictures but no videos.

    Helllo AM and Bob,
It sounds like you are wanitng to add video to your Shared Photo Stream. this article outlines the requirements for video that can be used, named:
    iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5902
iCloud Photo Sharing supports both MP4 and QuickTime video file types, and H.264 and MPEG-4 Video file formats. Videos can be up to 5 minutes in length and are delivered at up to 720p resolution.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Safari browser not loading videos properly?

Every time I use Safari to load videos or go on YouTube, the video either does not load properly and gives me an error message "your browser does not currently recognize this format" or it says HTML5 and I have to click on it for it to load. The message usually goes away when I refresh the browser and the HTML5 message will appear. The video usually works after I click on it, however the video doesn't play in YouTube's video player. It's just really inconvenient not being able to use YouTube's video player or even other video players on different websites. I was wondering is there anything I can do to fix this, or this just the way Safari loads videos?
I've attached some images showing the issues.
    Thanks for any help!

    1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press “Delete All” button under “Browsing Data and Settings”.
    2. Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Download it and quit Safari from Safari menu in the menu bar.
Follow the prompts to install Adobe Flash Player.
    3.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.
    4. Safari > Preferences > Privacy  > Cookies and website data:

  • Safari can't load pages

Every time I wake my computer from sleep mode, Safari (and every other web browser, for that matter) takes a good 2 minutes to load a page. I'm connected to a solid Wi-Fi network, and I can access the internet through other apps (I can get email, for example), but I can't load anything through Safari. The loading bar moves across about a 10th of the way, but it stops there for a long time. I have to reload the page several times for it to load anything.
I have tried clearing the cache, disabling DNS prefetching, and even reinstalling OS X Mavericks, but nothing helps. I have parental controls enabled, but with no web filtering option, so I don't see why that would affect Safari. Any help wold be appreciated!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Recently safari can't load any page properly?

when i start up safari it loads google as my home page fine, but when i try to direct it to another site like youtube or twitter or anything at all it can't load the page properly, and instead loads the sites with a plain white background and all the links are in a norma blue font in a list type format on the page. does anyone know why this has happened?

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
Select:  Clear History / Remove all website data / Clear the Downloads list
Click Reset. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Can't load video

I rented a movie from the iTunes Store, and get about 2 minutes into watching it when it stops and a "Cant load video" message appears. I've tried everything: signed in and out of my account, restarted the iPad, closed apps, and my operating system is up-to-date (7.1). Please help!

Yes, the files I downloaded were H.264. I did some checking on the video files that could and couldn't be loaded onto my Nano (all were from the iTunes store); here's what I found from clicking on Info:
    * Files that wouldn't load onto iPod - Kind: Quicktime movie file / Where: .mov
    * Files that would load - Kind: MPEG-4 video file / Where: .m4v
My MacBook doesn't seem to be converting the mov files to MPEG-4 format (or other format that iPod will accept).
Anybody have any idea what's wrong, & how to fix it?
    Thanks!

  • Video app crashing & Can't load videos to Ipod Touch 5.1.1

My video app on my IPod touch (4th Gen 64GB) with 5.1.1 keeps on crashing.  I read that this is not an uncommon problem.  I click on the video app and a white screen shows up for a second, then the app crashes and reverts back to the home screen.  This is the only app that is not working.
I have tried the following so far:
Reboot by using the red slider button
Reboot by holding the home and off button for 10sec.  Apple logo appears and it reboots
Shut down the video app after double clicking the home button and deleting the open apps
I even did a complete "Reset all Setting" and then used my ITunes back up to load all the data back on.
I tried to delete all movies on ITunes and load a new one. - won't show up when I search for the video on the IPod
I tired to down load a movie from ICloud - won't show up when I search for the video on the IPod after the download
In ITunes the videos that I try to load to the IPod show up on the right menu bar under movies, but they are grayed out.
The one thing I have not tried for obvious reason is the complete wipe and start from scratch by doing the reset from ITunes and loading all apps and setting to the IPod all over again.  I was hoping to avoid that pain...
Now, I don't use the Video app much, and could potential wait for OS 6 that is supposed to come out in the fall.  That might load a new video app.  Unfortunately, I can't delete the video app as it is part of the original set up.
Any tips?  What will I lose with a compete wipe and how long will that take?
    Thanks for your help

I tried the restore from backup and it did not work.  I think I'll just wait until iOS6 and watch movies on my IPad.  Don't want to do the factory restore if possible.
    Any other tips are welcome!

  • Safari can't play video!

Hello, I'm from Singapore using an iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 without jailbreak. When I used my iPhone 3GS to go to Safari, I went to apple.com because I wanted to watch the iPhone 4 Keynote on my 3GS. Normally, we have to press on the play button on the video. But now, there is a slash on the play button? Can anyway help me with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. It is kinda a bit of a joke. I believe Apple has to put those videos in HTML5 for it to be viewable on the iPhone. They have been raving about HTML5 all along so it's a bit of a joke that this keynote stream is not available. If you watch their other videos on the site, it's perfectly ok. But to not be able to watch even ONE video from APPLE.COM on an Apple product is embarassing.

  • Safari can't load any web pages

I just installed Safari on a WinXP Pro machine and it shows a Can't Open Web Page error when trying to access any web page, while FireFox and IE function without problem. There are no proxies; local firewall is disabled; tried re-installing and clearing App Data. Safari loads file:// pages OK, so it appears to be something in the network access. (Not a DNS issue since I tried loading by IP address as well.)
    Any ideas?

I am using 4.42 version of safari.i did not get any message the thing is that when i enter my user name an password it just refresh the login page.
