Editing my custom templates

OK lads just two quick questions.
I'm creating new templates and there isn't an option to store them anywhere other than my users folder and as I need to 'collect' the media, my boot drive won't have enough space, it's already told me so.
Anyone have a workaround for forcing motion to allow me to store custom templates somewhere else?
2nd question. I would like to give my custom theme folder an appropriate icon instead of the default folder icon. I've copied a preferred jpeg, did 'file info' on the theme folder, pasted the jpeg into it's icon tab and in the finder the folder has the appropriate icon but in Motion it ignores the pasted jpeg and still presents the default folder icon . Again is there a way to get Motion to accept the icon I've created for the Theme folder?
Peter

First of all you can store the Template anywhere, but if you want it to be available in FCP, then it needs to be in a specific place which just happens to be in the Master Templates folder inside Application Support. If your system drive is that full, I suggest you take steps to remedy that as it could affect any application that you run. Either move your itunes library or other large, unnecessary files off the system drive, or buy a larger system drive and set that up as your boot drive. Either way, the templates need to be in a specific place to be available in Final Cut.
2ndly, Mark Spencer has a quick tutorial that shows how to give your custom template a custom icon. Go to his website at: www.applemotion.net and check it out.

I have a custom template.  When I edit it and try to save it asks me to name it and then I end up with an additional custom template.  How do I edit the template and save the changes without creating another template?

    Hi Atrec,
If you don't need your old custom template, save your changes with the same template name. It will tell you that this template exists and will ask you Replace? Say yes (if you do want to replace the old with the new!)
To delete unwanted templates, go to Finder > Menu > Go and press the option key. Your Library will show in the Go Menu. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
Delete any unwanted template by dragging it to the Trash or click on it then command-delete.
Having gone to all that trouble to find My Templates folder, right click (or control click) on it and Make Alias. Drag the Alias to any convenient place for a quick way to get back to that folder.

  • How do you make a customized template?? When I customize an original template it does not apply it to the whole document! How do you apply style changes permanently to your document???

When one customize text styles or spacing between paragraphs. How do you apply settings permanently to a document???
Should you create a new template???

Happily, when you edit a document created by a given template, the changes aren't stored in the template.
If you want to get a template embedding your changes, you need to use :
    File > Save as Template
then use the newly created custom template as starting point.

  • How to make a custom template the default for Apple Mail (10.7.5)?

    Hi,
I'm OK with making a new custom template in Apple Mail.  It shows up fine once under "custom" in the stationary pane (and once I take off signature in a new email).  But... that's a lot of trouble to go through everytime I want to send an email.
So the question is: can I make my custom template my default for all my emails, unless I want to manually change it?  Seems like this should be possible but I can't figure it out and haven't run into any solutions (only on how to make a template).
Do I really have to select it each time?
    Best,
    Joel

As an FYI: I just solved the problem by going the "low road." I'll be a bit laborious in case someone else wants a solution at a later date (I know I Googled the topic and found nothing). I experimented by simply:
    Opening a new email message
    Selecting my custom template
Copying the custom signature (Select All)
    Opening another new email message
Selecting Edit on the Signature pulldown menu
Hitting the plus symbol to create/add a new signature in the pane
    Pasting into the new signature
    Naming it
Selecting "Choose signature" at the bottom of the signatures pane
    And violà!!
It now appears as a possible selection *and* as the default.
Better yet - it is now my default and will work as a reply to an email.
I think I got it all right in the list above.
OK, granted, this is a pretty simply signature - a list of my website, SoundCloud, twitter etc with those names in bold and a graphic of my color logo - but... it works! YMMV.
Give it to Apple to make it so simple that any fool could do it (that would be me), you wouldn't need a "specialized" app, and - of course - there wouldn't even be instructions on how to do it!
    Best,
    Joel

    Hello Jagadish,
    thanks for your support.
I went with Visual Admin tool to node SID - Server - Services - SLD Data Supplier.
I saw some information - how can I check here?
Afterwards I went to node SID - Server - Services - JCo RFC Provider and saw informations about client, user password. How can I check these informations? I stopped the SAPSLDAPI_SID RFC listener and started again. This worked without problems.
I closed visual administrator and tried to login again via http://hostname:50000/sld. After cklick on button "Administration" there is no reaction - I get a blank site with no information on it.
When I start configuration again through SOLMAN_ADMIN system hangs now in step 107 " SLD Server Configuration".

  • Creation of Custom Templates Premiere 4.0/Photoshop Elements 6.0

Premiere Elements 4.0 user manual says:
"You can also create custom templates in Adobe Photoshop Elements, and add them to the Adobe Premiere Elements template choices."
When I open an exiting template in Photoshop 6.0, layer sets are locked so the only change that I can do is text font.
How to create a new template?
How to edit an existing template?

Well, you can't create a custom menu template, but you can take an existing template, swap out the background with a custom still or video and customize the text with your own fonts, colors and positions -- essentially creating a custom DVD menu.
My Steve's Tips article "Creating DVD Menus in Premiere Elements" walks you through the process.

  • D7560 DVD printing - custom template or custom position of image

How do I create a custom template or custom position images in order to print a CD or DVD directly on my D7560?
I do not want to use any of the templates in Photoessentials, or at least I'd like to customize one to fit what I want to do.  There is a "customize position" button on the "edit" page, but it's grey'd out and won't let me select it.
Can anyone help me with this?  Do I have to create a template in Photoshop and just import that as the image or is there actually an easier way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Brian

I'm looking for the same thing too. I had an Epson before & it had a great DVD printing program, full size, complete . This is crap. I'm on a mac. If I had know it was this bad, I never would have bought it. Any answere yet? Thanks.

  • Strange Custom Template Sections Behaviour

I've created some custom template sections so I can insert my own various page types for a document I'm producing. The strange thing is Pages will insert an extra blank page (similar to the master but not exactly the same it's missing a text box) between sections when I add a section—but only some of the time!
It will not do it when I initially add the section.
It will only add in a 2nd page between when I add additional sections, be they the same type of section or another type of section.
I cannot delete this 2nd page without deleting the 1st page of the section as well.
When I try to capture just the 1st page to make another version of the custom template it still exhibits the above behaviours, inserting this "buffer" 2nd page in between sections.
All the other custom sections I have created do not exhibit this behaviour.
I've turned on invisibles and can't see anything that makes this section special or different.
Any guesses as to why it inserts this extra page in between sections to make a 2 page section instead of staying as a 1 page section?

    Nathan
You have some text being forced over to the next page, either because you hammered away at the spacebar/return key/tabs, or have some object wrap pushing returns over, or both:
    +Menu > View > Show Invisibles/ Show Layout+
Once you have cleaned up your pages recapture them as sections and resave your template over the old one.

  • Pages  Custom Templates

I've created several custom templates for a home business. I've saved them in the "My Templates" section of the Template Chooser, so I know that much. My problem is that I need to make it so that the text box (and other features) can't be re-sized or moved when the person using it customizes the text. Does anyone know how to do that?

    YES!
Make the template, highlight the pieces you want to stay the same, and then from the Arrange Menu, Lock them. Now you can zip the template and send to others and those locked pieces can not be changed unless the other person unlocks them.
    Have fun.

  • Share custom templates?

can custom templates be shared from a network location? Right
now we distribute templates to each workstation, which makes
maintentance difficult when they need to be updated/deleted
    etc.

    thanks Jeff,
    the KB article,
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_17144
explains how to share snippets, toolbars, color palettes,
thumbnails and searches. But not templates
I dug around the registry but could not find an obvious
    value to edit.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Edit wordpress custom page with style loaded

    Hello,
I have created custom template  wordpress pages and I am succesfully editing the content in Dreamweaver.
The only tihng is, the style.css file doesn't load into my view when editing the page. So I actually don't get to see the way the design at least approximately looks like.
And I have the styles file on my computer downloaded and all.
Do I need to somehow reference it?
    Thoughts and suggestions appreciated!

If you want to see how it looks in Design view you need to add the reference. Check the link to the style.css file in the head tag. Try to link the file again by putting it in the css/styles folder of your site.

  • Problems with custom template splash page

    Hi Folks,
We're having issues with a custom template which is used for our splash page at https://servername:8000/index.html. Autoconfig is set up correctly and should be parsing some variables but doesn't seem to be doing so.
    It parses this ok:
<a href="%s_webentryurlprotocol%://%s_webentryhost%.%s_webentrydomain%:%s_active_webport%/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp" style="font-size: 160%;">Click Here To Login</a>but then this part is not parsed at all:
    <td>
          <p style="font-size: 70%;">You are connected to %s_systemname% on %s_webhost%.</p>
<p style="font-size: 70%;">These details may be required for support purposes.</p>
</td>Can someone enlighten as to why this is happening please? I've tried many combinations of variables and html tags but am lost.
    Many thanks in advance.

There is an "undocumented" parameter you need to include in your
page. It MUST be a hidden field value called "p_action". The
form hidden value is either "OK" or "CANCEL" (case sensitive).
Thus, when the form is submitted, this parameter states to
commit the changes. Useful if you have a "Save" button and
    a "Cancel" button.

I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.
