Editor: What HTML standard supported?

In our CSS, we would rather use ems for sizing instead of pixels or points. However, RoboHelp's editor doesn't seem to completely understand, something like:

Is there some way to get the editor to understand a normal HTML definition, or does it just not support such things?
BTW -- As a side note, given the environment at my workplace, it probably would be impractical to use an HTML editor other than RoboHelp's.

I'm using Apex 3.0.1 for my application. I've used text area in the UI with the Html standard editor. I see that the page loads slowly coz the editor takes time to load with all the icons and stuff. Is there a way by which I can show the editor to be minimized on load? I think when required by clicking the 'arrow' icon the editor can be expanded. My application is more like a content management and so I'm using lots of text areas as this.
Can someone let me know if this is feasible to do and so if, how to achieve it?

There is no way of minimizing things in html.
Off course you can hide items with javascript for example, but that doesn't prevent it from loading, so your load time will not decrease.
If you put a condition on the item, it's not loaded at all so you save time.
Then there's the advanced way: Replace a normal text area with an Ajax call to a editor text area. But that's some more work and not standard apex.

Error while using "HTML Standard Editor" item in "Array VPN"

Hi,
The "HTML Standard Editor" item is not displayed properly when the person is trying to enter data, when he is logged in using Array VPN. An error appears in the item box "Unable to Process request. The requested URL has an unsupported encoding.". Can this be resolved? This error is appearing in Firefox, and in IE the box appears but is not editable,i.e Nothing can be entered in the box.
Please assist me in this matter.

I've worked with clients in the past that used VPN clients that attempted to cache and compress JavaScript code being sent to the browser. The problem was that the algorithms were terrible and ended up breaking the code.
Do you know if this is happening? If so, there's probably an option to turn it off. Take a look at the source code for the problematic page using the VPN connection and compare it to the source from a page without using VPN. If the page is really busy you can create a blank test page and add the item that's not working. That should make comparing the changes easier. Consider using a code comparison utility.

HTML Standard/Minimal doesn't work in Safari browser

Here's an issue that has been bugging me for quite some time, it's more of a bug and I finally decided to post it in the forums.
I have an Item on a page for which the Display Type is set to HTML Editor Standard, the problem is that it works fine in most editors except Safari. Not sure what the issue is, has anyone been able to get this to work in Safari?
Another issue is with formatting, I have another report page that displays the field that's tied to the HTML editor standard form page. The report page does not show the same formatting from the HTML editor. You would think the report will at least show the same formatting that was entered via the field.

Thanks for replying. I didn't realize that Apex is certified for IE and FireFox only. Safari is one of the best browsers and I find it strange that Apex is not supported.
Since the HTML Standard toolbox is based on FCKeditor, just for kicks I checked their site and the demo works fine on Safari, i.e. I see the toolbar and the text looks formatted just as in FireFox.
Also I performed another test, I downloaded the latest FCKEditor 2.6.4 and uploaded the main js file to application images and associated that with a report field (displayed as textarea, with id=f01_0001) and that worked partially in Safari (i.e. the toolbar showed up, the text looked formatted). I bet if I ftp the entire FCKEditor library to the unix folder and reference it from there, it will work just fine. It seems like next version of Oracle Apex need to update their FCKEditor library as the latest version of FCK Editor is certified on all browsers.

What html code will start an EXE (program) with a click on a webpage link?

The code in bold below worked. After I switched my browser from IE 11 to Firefox to get the hover on hotspots to work, the program gave me this error message. I moved the EXE file to my local file folder and tried it as shown below. Still no success. Any suggestions?

It allows executables in Firefox to be run - it is an extenstion, though, so it must be installed in Firefox before your page will work.

However, you will still have problems with getting it to work cross-browser. Honestly, browsers are not supposed to have access like that to the client side file system, which absolutely makes sense for the web.
That is why you may have to approach the solution from a different angle - perhaps create a server side cloud version of your application(s) which can be easily accessed and run by your family members. I believe you used C to develop the applications? Although I have no experience with this framework, Wt might be a solution to convert your projects to server side applications:

What Metadata Standard is used for Face Regions?

Nice to see that LR6 now has support for Face Recognition and Face Regions. However, nowhere in the online help is it stated explicitly what metadata standards are used for the image regions.
I would hope that as Adobe is a member of the Metadata Working Group, then LR6 is using the metadata standard specified by the MWG for image regions.

It's the MWG.
Within Lightroom itself, the face regions are recorded inside the catalogue and this data is associated with keywords.
When you export a photo, unchecking the option Remove Person Info, the names are also written to the IPTC Extension Person Shown and the MWG Regions too.
I suggest you export a photo as above and examine its metadata in the Advanced tab of Bridge's FIle Info dialog box, or in some other metadata tool.

Does Acrobat X Standard Support "Edit Page Numbering Format"

In Acrobate X Pro, I can edit page numbers using the "Edit Page Numbering Format" feature. This is the icon in the Customize Quick Tools dialog box:

Yes, the 'Number Pages' option from 'Document Processing' is available in Acrobat X Standard too. This tool functions the same in both Acrobat X Standard and Professional.

What HTML code can I use in Mail (signature box composition)?

I'm from Spain. It appears that iOS 6 allows to use HTML code in order to compose signatures in Mail. I have tried to use several codes but they don't work... Do you know what HTML tags are accepted by Mail signatures in iOS 6? Thank you.

you can create a signature in mail preferences->signatures. the editing tools there are very basic but if your company's signature is not too fancy you might be able to recreate it. if that's not good enough, the only way around that i know is a the following hack
create a dummy signature in mail preferences->signatures. then go to the directory /users/username/library/mail/signatures and locate the webarchive with your signature. then make an html file using your favorite html editor. put whatever you need in it. save it and open it in safari. then save it as a webarchive from safari and overwrite the dummy signature you made with that webarchive.

Lion 10.7.5 is as far as you can go. You must have at least 2 GBs of installed RAM.

I can not get Firefox to play music backgrounds on pages in browsers it works in IE and other browsers but not firefox, what HTML or Jave script do I need too use to make them work?

I develop my pages in Front Page and I know that the music only works in IE, so if someone can tell me how to correct this problem as it is important as I use fire fox as my main browser.

If a website uses BGSOUND then it will only work in IE.
BGSOUND is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox.

What is it supported in BPC about SSIS pkg

I have some problems implementing SSIS dtsx for BPC.
A package with a sequenct container, or with a user variable to use to setting a property, or with a task to call another dtsx doesn't function!.
Does exist any technical documentation (not a user guide, please!) that describes what it is supported in BPC about SSIS dtsx?

There was a bug in AS that didn't keep partititon information but it was fixed.

You need to keep the keys pressed for several seconds. Close down Elements. Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option. You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?Click on YesThen wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences.
