what html editor i use ?
i used to work with frontpage in windows, but now i have tried
nvu, but it have some problems formatting text and photos
and some others, but i dont know so much of html, and frontpage was perfect because i always use the layout preview
dreamweaver is paid, so its not a good idea

How to print html text created with HTML Editor Standard?

I would like to print the text I added with the HTML Editor Standard, using advanced printing. I have made up a Word document with a Report Query and a Report Layout, but the text pops up as html text. Also when I use HTML as output the text shows as "p strong hallo /strong /p" (but then with < and >) instead of hallo . I understand what goes wrong, but I am unable to solve it. Is there a way to work around this?

Changing the font size does not work with Textarea with HTML Editor

If you change the font size in the text area of a "Textarea with HTML Editor" item it does not work. I've searched the forum and the only solution I've seen is to use an HTML editor foriegn to APEX. Does anyone have a better solution? Thanks, Elizabeth

I'm having a similar issue except with HTML Editor Standard.
What I'm doing is allow someone to write to an HTML Editor Standard field and then an HTML marked up text is saved to a db CLOB column. In another page, I reference this DB column and show it in an HTML Region (I do a computation Before Regions for a hidden item that writes out the html with "htp.p")
Everything shows up fine EXCEPT the font tags and headings. I'm finding that the HTML Region sets the font size only with the < d i v s t y l e="font-size: large" >and NOT < f o n t size:6 >. When the HTML Editor renders the user's text input, any size changes are made with the < f o n t > tag, which is depreciated anyways, and not with "style". That's why the size is not showing up.
I can't really figure out why the headings aren't showing up except maybe the css style in the region is overridding it...
Is there another APEX item type like HTML Editor (which uses FCKEditor) that I can use, or maybe another approach to remedy this issue? Or maybe this post calls for an enhancement with the HTML Editor?{size}{size}

Reg HTML editor

hi all
I had a form item declared as HTML editor standard on a clob column. As there is a limit of 32k on the data in HTML editor i want to notify the user when the data he entered exceeds 32k. Is there any way to notify user through an alert box when he submits the page or as soon as the length exceeds 32k.

yeah you are right, but how to get the context of the HTML editor, iam using the following code.The function is not being called from HTML editor item but works fine when i replace it with Text item. Is there any way to deal with HTML editor items

Use of javascript and textarea with HTML editor

Hi all,
I have been trying to use some onchange javascript in the HTML Form Element Attributes of an item which is a textarea with an HTML Editor. It just seems to ignore the code. When you "view source" the code does not seem to be there.
What I am attempting to do is described in thread: detecting changes to items prior to submitting page
i.e. to warn a user that if they leave the page without saving they will lose their changes. It works fine with most of the other items on the page i.e. text boxes, select lists but not the textarea with html editor.
Is there somewhere else I should be putting my js for items of this type? I have spent some time looking through the forum posts but cannot find an answer so far.

I'm having the same problem.
Would like to use the onChange event in a textarea with html editor.
This works in Firefox (where I don't get the html editor but only a textarea) but doesn't seem to work in IE.
Is there another way of detecting the user has changed the text in the html editor?

Using Visual Studio as an HTML editor with SharePoint's Design Manager

I'm building a master page using Design Manager. I've mapped a network drive so that I can access the MasterPage.html file with an HTML editor.
I'd like to use Visual Studio 2012 as my HTML editor. But, when I modify MasterPage.html in VS, it creates a MasterPage.html~RF9158aed.TMP file alongside the MasterPage.html and MasterPage.master files, which breaks the master page in SharePoint.
I can modify MasterPage.html successfully with NotePad. I can also modify an html file, that is not associated with a folder in SharePoint via a networked drive, with VS.
Can I use Visual Studio as an HTML editor in this scenario? If so, what am I doing wrong?
Your help would be much appreciated.

The TMP file is used by VS to save off changes in the file your working on, so you can perform Undos for instance. If you shut down VS it should clean those up for you. However, this can be a challenge if you're still working on the file.
I would just make a copy of the MasterPage and place it in a folder outside the mapped folder. Then you can simply copy and paste it back into the mapped folder.
FYI, don't do this with any OOTB MasterPages! Please make a copy and rename one that comes with SP, you don't want to change those in case you need to revert back.

What HTML code can I use in Mail (signature box composition)?

I'm from Spain. It appears that iOS 6 allows to use HTML code in order to compose signatures in Mail. I have tried to use several codes but they don't work... Do you know what HTML tags are accepted by Mail signatures in iOS 6? Thank you.

you can create a signature in mail preferences->signatures. the editing tools there are very basic but if your company's signature is not too fancy you might be able to recreate it. if that's not good enough, the only way around that i know is a the following hack
create a dummy signature in mail preferences->signatures. then go to the directory /users/username/library/mail/signatures and locate the webarchive with your signature. then make an html file using your favorite html editor. put whatever you need in it. save it and open it in safari. then save it as a webarchive from safari and overwrite the dummy signature you made with that webarchive.

Is it better to have a servlet do the database work and call it from JSP?No, it's better to have persistence objects do the database work. Servlets handle HTTP requests, and JSPs are HTML factories that should be pure view.
But there are lots of ways to do things. You just have to understand the tradeoffs when you decide.
I do not want to hammer out code, I want to learn the
best way to do things from experienced developers. Sorry, sounded like you just wanted to churn stuff.
"best way" can be subjective. In one app, "best" might be "delivered fastest". For another, "best" might be "most secure" or "most easily modified" or "best performing" or whatever. You won't get a "best" answer, only different choices. And they aren't always so easy to explain or execute.
I'd recommend that you start by reading about layered applications (3-tier architectures) and MVC separation. Once you've Googled enough about that, look into a framework like Struts or Spring or WebWork. That'll help you figure out where to put each responsibility in your app.

Uploading files using a separate HTML editor

Because the Verizon website builder is not consistent, I am using a separate HTML editor for uploading files to my personal webpage. However, sofar I am unable to get information from Verizon as to what folder I should upload the files to, in order to view them through my browser. Anyone went through the same experience?

Creating a small HTML-Editor using JEditorPane

Hello! I'm trying to create a small HTML-Editor. Via this editor users shall be capable to create formatted text (bold, italic, underlined, different sizes, different fonts, different colors). Furthermore, if the user pushes the enter-button a new line-break ( ) shall be inserted. Basically my editor is working but with some big problems:
1. When I create an instance of my editor, I initialize it with some html-code.
this.m_EditorPane.setText("<html><head></head><body></body></html>"); Without this initialization between the <body> and </body> and will be inserted, what I don't want. But if I push now the enter-button at the beginning, -tag will not be inserted in the <body>-area but in the <head>-area.
2. Styling text is working really good, but when I insert a line-break (via enter-button), the -tag is inserted after the (e.g.) closing bold-tag (). So, in the next line, this style-property must be reselected.
Can anybody help me to change this behavior?

I can not get Firefox to play music backgrounds on pages in browsers it works in IE and other browsers but not firefox, what HTML or Jave script do I need too use to make them work?

I'm having a problem with firefox playing background music on some sites, it works with IE and other browsers but not with fire fox, what html or java script do I need to add to the pages so that they play the music?
I develop my pages in Front Page and I know that the music only works in IE, so if someone can tell me how to correct this problem as it is important as I use fire fox as my main browser.

If a website uses BGSOUND then it will only work in IE.
BGSOUND is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox.

I have been experiencing similar problems with the HTML Editor and have managed to find an answer that should start to answer some of my questions. The Apex HTML Editor Standard is actually an HTML editor called FCKeditor. The FCKeditor has a Javascript API that can be found at http://docs.fckeditor.net/FCKeditor_2.x/Developers_Guide/JavaScript_API. Unfortuately this doesn't seem to give the whole answer and I found more at http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:49607.
I needed to get the text entered within my html editor standard (e.g. P1_MYTEXT) and use it within my javascript function. I did this by using the following script

Is it possible to write an HTML editor using Java?

I have this final year project (for my degree), where I need to use Java to write an HTML editor.
It doesn't have to be fancy or anything, just need to be able to generate HTML files from the GUI frontend where text, images and tables will be created.
I'm new to Java, and I'm having problem with it.
Please help, I only need to know whether it's possible, and possible a little guideline on how to go about it, please?

Editor: What HTML standard supported?

In our CSS, we would rather use ems for sizing instead of pixels or points. However, RoboHelp's editor doesn't seem to completely understand, something like:
p {
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-size: 0.9em;
    line-height: 120%;
    margin-top: 0em;
    margin-bottom: 0.8em;
    background: none;
    color: #000000;
Is there some way to get the editor to understand a normal HTML definition, or does it just not support such things?
BTW -- As a side note, given the environment at my workplace, it probably would be impractical to use an HTML editor other than RoboHelp's.
