EDL Image sequence relink...is it possible?

I load my EDL and start to relink the clips, I navigate to my DPX sequence, but I don't see the option for an image sequence, I select the first frame in the sequence and it only brings that one in for the entire duration of the clip.
I end up having to manually bring each sequence in and place them in the time line by hand.

This is a real problem, especially when doing a round trip to something like Resolve, but is function of a bigger issue - DPX files should be treated as footage by default.
I don't know anyone who uses a DPX file for still work. DPXs are for footage. To that end, they should default to being treated as an image sequence, you shouldn't have to check a box. Even better, they should appear in the Import Footage window and the Media Browser as collapsed stacks - single objects for a sequence of frames that constitute footage. That way I could have 15 image sequences in a single folder, and Premiere would collapse that down so that all I'd see when browsing for footage would be 15 pieces of footage. I could drag all of them in at once, or replace existing footage with them. Also, it would avoid the problem of the image in the sequence you select being treated as the first image, making it easy to accidentally cut the head off footage.
It's great that Premiere supports DPXs, but this stuff is a basic neccesity when working with DPXs, and needs to be included.

  • Time-lapse and Image Sequence issue (Possibly also Frame-Rate)

So I'm in the process of making a time-lapse, and have batch edited and exported (in jpeg) 627 images.  My sequence settings are 23.976fps 1920x1080 (1080p).  Doing some quick math, 627 images at 24 frames a second should give me a little over 26 seconds.  However, I'm only getting a 20 second clip.  The settings on the clip are 29.97fps and 5184x3456 (I scale it down and use some keyframes to add some motion.)  So my question is is there a way to import an image sequence as 24 fps, rather than the default 30 that the clip is imported in?  Even when I put it the clip on the timeline and click "Keep sequence settings" it cuts it down to 501 frames, and I still only get 20 seconds worth of clip.   Thank you for your answers!

I am in PAL land so I not that familiar with ntsc but I think the difference has to do with the 23.97.
If you make a custom sequence you can set that to 24 fps exact.
Import the jpegs as an image sequence. this means select the first image, check image sequence at the bottom of the window and hit OK.
Also in the preferences under Media set the Indeterminate Media Timebase to 24.

  • Sending image sequence job to compressor in command line : how to set the framerate?

    Hello,
In Compressor, when you import a image sequence, it's possible to set the framerate and add an audio file before choosing a preset and lauching the encoding task.
I want to dlo the same thing with command line. I know how to send a compressor job with command line, but no how to add theses settings.
In the compressor command line help, we've got this :
Job Info: Used when submitting individual source files. Following parameters are repeated to enter multiple job targets in a batch
-jobpath <url> -- url to source file.
-- In case of Image Sequence, URL should be a file URL pointing to directory with image sequence.
-- Additional parameters may be specified to set frameRate (e.g. frameRate=29.97) and audio file (e.g. audio=/usr/me/myaudiofile.mov).
So there are also framerate and audio parameters in command line but i've no idea how to write the command line with theses parameters
Here is an example of command line for Compressor (by Apple) :
    ./Compressor ‑clusterid tcp://127.0.0.1:51737 ‑batchname myBatch ‑jobpath /Volumes/Source/ShortClips/NTSC24p.mov ‑settingpath /Users/stomper10/Library/Application\ Support/Compressor/PhotoJPEG.setting ‑destinationpath /Users/machinename/Movies/myDestinationFilename.mov.
    Thank you for your help!

You can see in the command sh running-config command
show running-config : Displays the current access point operating configuration
Use the guest-mode SSID configuration mode command to configure the radio interface (for the specified SSID) to support guest mode. Use the no form of the command to disable the guest mode.
    [no] guest-mode .
Here is the guideline for usage
The access point can have one guest-mode SSID or none at all. The guest-mode SSID is used in beacon frames and response frames to probe requests that specify the empty or wildcard SSID. If no guest-mode SSID exists, the beacon contains no SSID and probe requests with the wildcard SSID are ignored. Disabling the guest mode makes the networks slightly more secure. Enabling the guest mode helps clients that passively scan (do not transmit) associate with the access point. It also allows clients configured without a SSID to associate.
    Examples
This example shows how to set the wireless LAN for the specified SSID into guest mode:
    AP(config-if-ssid)# guest-mode
This example shows how to reset the guest-mode parameter to default values:
    AP(config-if-ssid)# no guest-mode

  • Tween text, publish as image sequence

I'm trying to tween one font into another, which I am able to do by breaking apart the text into objects and using a simple shape tween.  The preview and exported movies look as they should, but I would like to be able to export the frames of the animation as jpegs, targas, or pngs so that I can import this image sequence into photoshop as layers.
Idealy it would be great to be able to take the .fla file itself and open it up in photoshop as a layered document, yet I don't see how this is possible either.  Does anybody know how I can automate the process of exporting an image sequence without having to go frame by frame and exporting bitmaps individually?
    thanks

    jdehann,
Thank you, that is exactly the export option that I was looking for.  I knew it was in there somewhere, just never had reason to look before now.  Thanks for your help.

  • How do you export a movie to an image sequence in iMovie 10.0.4?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create an animated gif.  In order to do so I need to export my short two-second movie as a sequence of .jpg's or .png's.  This was possible in earlier versions, but I can't find it on this one.
I'm using an iMac with OS 10.9.4 running iMovie 10.0.4
If it isn't possible in iMovie 10.0.4, is there another way to create a sequence of images from a short movie using native tools?
    Thank you!

    I see.
I know that QuickTime Pro can do it.

    But that's a $29.99 purchase.
Not sure about the regular QuickTime Player 7
QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later
There's also something called Movie2Picture in the Mac App store that I think will do it, but I have no experience with it.
Lastly, check out MPEG Streamclip it's free and I bet it will export to an image sequence, though I haven't tried it.

  • Imported image sequence in PP CC 2014 causes animated layers to flicker

I have a project which has a primary layer formed of imported JPGs that are in sequence. These are shots from a time lapse and are sequentially named and imported without issue into Premier Pro. I then have a secondary layer with a simple After Effects composition that comprises a slow fade and animation of some title text. The problem I have is that during playback in PP (or once rendered) the animation of the text in the AA layer flickers. Watching it frame by frame in the preview window it is slowly fading in but each alternate frame it's opacity seems to go back one frame before advancing.
Now I can completely fix this by exporting the image sequence clip in my bin to a video file. If I then replace the image sequence with a video made using exactly the same images it works fine and the animation is perfectly smooth. My question is why does PP not treat the imported image sequence the same as a video with its interaction with other layers?

    Hi there.
Looking at the footage, you are exporting at 24P. There are books written on 24P and how to shoot (or edit) for it. What I see as a possible mistake.
You are moving the photo too fast across the screen. That could be the same as panning too fast in 24P. Same result. The video clips are moving much slower and don't show the staggering.
    Give it a try.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro: place image sequence in reverse order on timeline

    Hi all,
I have a jpg image sequence numbered from frame000 to frame100. It imports in numerical order...obviously. I am trying to find a way of dragging the files onto the timeline so they begin at frame and descend in order. Shift clicking in the direction you want doesn't work as it does in aftereffects.
I know I can nest and reverse the speed but I would prefer to avoiding nesting at this stage. I also have no option to renumber the files as this is how they are generated and I have a tonne of them to import.
    Hope someone can help.

The thread that you posted above was a lot more specific, not easily repro-able by all of us, and doesn't seem to have any easy answers (at least not yet). I see that both Trent and Kevin have commented to try to help you now, so the best thing is to just try to work with them and other users to see if you can alleviate your frustrations a bit. • Bug: QT Pro fails to properly play PDF image sequence?

    Hi folks,
I have a series of numbered PDF files that represent an animation. I can open these files as an "image sequence" with QuickTime Pro, but then the resulting movie seems corrupt. Only the first frame renders properly, and the remaining frames are white, sometimes with some garbled information from the PDF. (I'm using the latest version of QT Pro.)
Is this a known limitation? Should QT be able to open a sequence of PDFs properly?
I know that as a workaround I can rasterize the PDFs first, but this isn't really what I need. The eventual goal is to get this animation into Motion, so keeping the vector graphics as vectors for as long as possible is important. Also note that directly importing the image sequence into Motion produces the same problem, so I suspect that this is a QuickTime issue.
    Any thoughts?
    Zach Pincus
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I believe QuickTime will only show page 1 of a single PDF, I'm not sure if that applies to multiple single-page PDF's within a single mov file though.
    http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1247.html
So they are saying that if imported as a movie it can display multiple pages, if brought in as a graphic it can't.
Instead of importing as an image sequence, you could open each pdf in QT Player, select all, copy, paste into the final movie (or seperate movies which you could then import) and hopefully you would end up with movies of multi-page pdfs instead of single page pdf graphics. What a mess.

  • Image Sequencing in Quick Time Pro

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have been unable to get Quick Time Pro to created an Image Sequence. I'm wondering if this is an issue created by Quick Time Pro being moved to its new location in Snow Leopard.
Can anyone, who's recently upgraded, test Image Sequencing out and see it is still working in Snow Leopard?
    Here's what I've been doing:
I have a folder of photos named sequentially:
    photo1.JPG
    photo2.JPG
    photo3.JPG
    photo4.JPG
    photo5.JPG
I choose "Open Image Sequence"from the File menue
I choose the first file in the folder
A dialog comes up asking about the frame rate
    The entire screen turns black
I choose "Present Movie" from the View menu
The controls show the movie is playing, but nothing but black shows on the screen.

My experience is that the feature 'open a sequence of images' does not work in 10.6.
I ran Software Update hoping to upgrade to 7.6.4 but was not prompted to install any updates.
    Steps taken:
Clicked File, Open Image Sequence…, Select folder
The Open button is not available to click after this is done where it was in the past.
Selecting an image, within the selected folder, illuminates the Open button. It is not possible to select additional items by keyboard (shift, option, command) with they keyboard or mouse and mouse alone (click & drag).
Quicktime prompts as the OP notes but I see the image with the selected time delay where they did not.
This has been tested on a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro, both running 10.6.1.

  • Feature Request: Please allow us to merge audio with image sequence in AME.

So far the only programs that allow this (that I'm aware of anyway) are the old version of QuickTime Pro, and Apple's Compressor. I simply want to add an image sequence to AME, and combine an audio track to that image sequence for export. This would save me an extra step. 80% of my work begins and ends in After Effects. I do very little video editing, so most of my exports are rendered from AE and then exported from Quicktime or Compressor to whatever file my clients request (Most often ProRes for a master version, and h264 or x264 Quicktime files for the web).
Is it possible we might see this feature added anytime soon? Thanks!

This is a good feature request and should be submitted here: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
The team reviews all the requests that come in through that form. It is a guaranteed way to get your request seen while we do not always see everything that gets posted to the forums.

  • Exporting Still Image Sequence in Quicktime 10?

I've been spoiled by the feast of 'export as' options in every quicktime I've used before, especially exporting as a still image sequence.  Just got a new macbook pro (os 10.7) that came loaded with quicktime 10, and now there are virtually no options for exporting.  I also need to be able to import the still image sequence again back into quicktime.  Is it possible to run an older version of quicktime?  Or is there another way to do it in the new version?  OR is there some free program out there that will let me do the same thing?
    Thanks
    Nate

Is it possible to run an older version of quicktime?  Or is there another way to do it in the new version?  OR is there some free program out there that will let me do the same thing?
You can run the QT 7.6.6 Player Pro app under either Snow Leopard or Lion. Both QT 7 and QT X players can be installed simultaneously. The QT X.1 Player app does not have this feature. MPEG Streamclip will open a sequence of images but has a fixed frame rate unlike QT 7 Pro which offers user selectable frame rate options when opening image sequences.

  • How to merge 2 halves of an image contained within 2 separate folders + repeat (2 image sequences)?

I have two folders of image sequences. Folder 1 contains images for the left hand side of the frame. Folder 2 contains images for the right side of the frame. Each image in folder 1 pairs with a corrosponding image in folder 2 and I want to merge the two.
Is it possible to batch process the merging of these 'halves' into a third folder?

You're quite right Mylenium, ignorance of course is the answer to your question and I did exactly what you describe after a few more hours...converting the DNGs to Tiffs and opening as two image sequences each in a layer, with a Layer mask, and using Motion workspace to merge and preview.
Of course it worked better than an automated process as one side of the image needed repositioning by a line or two of pixels to make them line up perfectly.
The result is that I have a 3135 × 1333 (2.35:1 ratio) video which looks great. My only regret is that I now don't have the same latitude to grade in DaVinci Resolve that I had in DNG form - it would be ideal to open and merge as a DNG image sequence.
I'm grateful for your comments, it's been 10 years since I have used Photoshop and I have just signed up to Photoshop CC. I'm a camera operator / DP by trade. Excuse the basic question.
Best wishes and thanks for taking the time to comment.

  • Very poor Playback of imported image sequence

    Hello,
I really tried to work around this problem but I'm resigned to see that premiere pro seems to handle very bad the playback of imported sequence of numbered stills.
I began with premiere elements. I imported my footage as image sequence (from 3dsmax), and saw that the playback was poor. It seemed to be playable after background rendering was finished, but BG rendering is soooo long due to an issue with nvidia hardware. So I'm forced to disable BG rendering, but the problem is that the sequence go unplayable again, etc, etc.
I decided to install premiere pro cs5 trial to test, thinking that it will definitively fix the problem,
but... same poor, almost unusable playback with numbered stills.
I have a strong hardware (dual xeon 5650, quadro 4000, 48gb ram), so I think it's not the cause.
I disable my antivirus while using premiere.
Video sequences (avi, mov, etc), play smoothly, but when you work with CG 3D footage, you always export in image sequences, and I want to be able to edit my footages in premiere, as compositing softwares aren't built for the same kind of tasks.
After effects plays images sequences very smoothly, so why not premiere?
I did convert my image sequences to avi or mov uncompressed, but even with no compression, there's a significant loss of quality, and I want to avoid this loss to be able to edit my footage and output my final video based on the best image quality possible.
    Thank you for answering

I have a strong hardware (dual xeon 5650, quadro 4000, 48gb ram), so I think it's not the cause.
You did not mention your disk setup.
Playing back numbered image sequences at high resolution is
probably the most disk IO intensive thing you can ask Premiere to do.
Without a dedicated RAID controller and multi-disk setup, you will likely be
forced to timeline preview render all your image sequences for real time playback.
After effects plays images sequences very smoothly, so why not premiere?
AE will not play image sequences in real time until you render a RAM preview.
I did convert my image sequences to avi or mov uncompressed, but even with no compression, there's a significant loss of quality...
There will be no loss of quality if you use a lossless codec for your
digital intermediate file (i.e. Lagarith or UT), and these uncompressed files
will play smoothly in Premiere without needing to render timeline previews.

  • Image Sequence Issue

I've got some large pictures I've been asked to make into a sequence and retain as much of their quality as possible, they will be used in a PDF plan report. I started with Flash but it couldn't handle the full size images (5184x3456 - 72dpi). I've moved over to Premiere but I'm getting something weird happening when I import them in as a numbered group. They import fine but only 1 image is being shown in the preview for the complete sequence and the sequence icon in the project is a jpg icon not the little movie film icon you normally get. Any idea what might be happening?
My sequence setting in Premiere is 5184x3456 10fps. There are 17 images and I want them to play about 3 seconds each.
    Thank you for your help,
    Jenna

Don't import as an Image Sequence.
Start by going into Preferences and change Default Still Duration to 3x your intended frame rate.  (3 x 24 fps = 72, or 3 x 30 fps = 90, etc.)  Then import all your images normally.  When you bring them to the sequence, they'll be 3 seconds long.

  • Exporting animated symbol to image sequence

    Hi guys!
I'm unable to export an animated symbol to image sequence properly because the symbol does not animate.
I created the tweens in multiple layers, then cut-pasted all layers to a new symbol. I did this so I could then just do some tween motions on the symbol.
The tweening is perfect, but when I export the image sequence, the images do not animate the way it does on the Flash player. All I get is an image sequence with the tweened symbol, but the symbol itself does not animate.
I'd really appreciate if you guys could give me a tip on how to get the symbol to animate when exporting the image sequence.
Alternatively, is there a way to motion-tween multiple layers simoultaneously? (Layers which are themselves tweened)
    Thank you guys!
Any additional info, I'll be checking regularly so I can provide as much description as possible to get this to work.

    Ok, I figured it out!
I changed the symbol type to "Graphic," and I was able to see the animation in the timeline. Easy!
Now I just exported the movie to png sequence, and bam! Magic!
If anyone has this problem, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll ellaborate on what I did.
    Thanks!
