EEM/SSH onto another device: Can I avoid password in cleartext?

Hi All
I would like to create an EEM script on Switch A which ssh's onto Switch B to run a second EEM script.
After looking on the Cisco site and forums, I believe the following would allow me to do this:
Switch A
event manager applet Script1
action 1.0 cli command "ssh -l <SwitchB_User> <SwitchB_IPAddress> "event man run Script2"" pattern "word:"
action 2.0 cli command "<password>" pattern "#"
action 3.0 cli command "exit" pattern "#"
Switch B
event manager applet Script2
action 1.0 mail server "<mailserver>" to "<toaddress>" from "<fromaddress>" subject "<subject>" body "<body>"
Would you be able to help with the following queries:
a) is the configuration correct?
b) Is there any way of encrypting the password so that it doesn't appear as clear text in the running/start up configurations?

The configuration looks good as far as EEM is concerned, but you will run into trouble with the SSH password. SSH uses a keyboard-interactive process by default, which is unfriendly to scripting/pasting, so it's most likely that your script will hang after executing the SSH command, never receiving the password prompt.
SSH supports establishing connections without passwords using pre-defined RSA private and public key pairs, but only the server side of IOS SSH supports this. It would be workable if you were running the requests from the Unix/Linux box, but not from IOS.
If you want to be able to quickly execute commands on other routers without transmitting or storing passwords in the configuration, falling back to the older RSH technology might be applicable here. RSH works by establishing trusted connections without authentication, so you need to be careful about how you allow it to connect and what you allow it to do, but it might be just what you need.

As long as both iPads use the same Apple ID, it should be easy. But you can't move books to another device that's not registered to the original account that purchased the book. There is no book sharing.

Well, wait: did you just delete the "iTunes Library" file, or the whole iTunes folder?
If you only deleted the "iTunes Library" file, then your stuff should still be on your hard drive. If not, then you probably don't. This is the biggest reason to keep frequent backups of your computer.
Now, if you deleted all of your media, you may be able to nicely write that Apple Support guys, and they may be able to give you "re-download grant". They did for me... I lost all of my purchases and I wrote them, and the let me download my stuff. (She did say they can't normally do this... That was my one shot to do that.) Be ready though, if they let you do this: it'll start downloading all of your purchases at once, once you start.
Now, remember, even if you're frustrated, *be nice!* If you're rude at all they probably won't let you.

You don't. You will need to transfer the video files from your old computer. The movie studios do not allow re-downloading of movies.

Adding another iPod - can I avoid upgrading to iTunes 6?

My wife has a Mini and we are using iTunes 4.90.17 + iPod Updater 2006-06-26 + QT 6.52 on a XP Pro/SP2 machine with NIS 2005. The Mini is set for manual control and everything works fine right now.
I just got a Nano and don't want to risk all the problems I've been reading about on this board (and elsewhere). How can I add the Nano to the system without upgrading to iTunes 6 and QT 7? Can I just plug in the Nano and have the 6-26-2005 version of iPod Updater set up the Nano, or do I need to use the Updater version that came with the Nano?
We just move music to the iPods manually and don't have time to fix any serious problems. Any ideas?

I just checked my copy of 2005-06-26, and it doesn't contain iPod nano Software 1.0. probably best to download, install and run a copy of iPod Updater 2005-10-12 from Apple for the nano setup:

If I purchase the in-app content for GarageBand on one computer, could that purchase be transferred onto another device? Or would I have to repurchase the content on the new computer?

The in-app purchase will be tied to your Apple-ID. You can download and install again any software you bought from the App Store on any computer you own or control and are using with the same Apple ID (for private purposes).
When you buy the in-app purchase now on your Deskop computer, you can use the menu command "GarageBand > Restore Purchase" on your second Mac to obtain the purchase.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

Can I access an iTunes purchase made on a pc....on another device(iPad) ?

Tv show, music can be seen under the purchased section in the iPad itunes app.
If connected to wifi you can download them, music can also be downloaded on 3G.
Apps can be seen under purchased in the app store and downloaded.
Movies cannot be accessed due to licensing restrictions.

Turn off automatic downloads to stop it from automatically downloading.
You can delete from the other two. It has no effect on the others.
