Effect of Full Attribute Extract on Aggregate Attribute Change Run

Because we extract data that does not trigger the change pointer on 0CUST_SALES we do a FULL extract of this data daily instead of a DELTA.  We recently created an aggregate which contains navigational attributes of 0CUST_SALES (namely Sales Office & Sales Group).
My question is does the system look to see if any information has changed between the new and old values or does it assume since there is a new version for every entry that 100% of the values have changed?
The reason I'm asking is BW appears to be rebuilding this aggregate from scratch each day instead of changing the aggregate for the few entries that actually changed.

I did a FULL extract for 0CUST_SALES in our QA system.  It transferred 28617 records.  When I look into the monitor > processing > data package 1 > update I see the following:
3 data records in table /BI0/XCUST_SALES marked for deletion
3 data records inserted in table /BI0/XCUST_SALES
3 data records n table /BI0/PCUST_SALES marked for deletion
3 data records inserted in table /BI0/PCUST_SALES
Different database operations were executed
When I run the attribute change I see the following messages:
The Change Run is executing
Attribute 0CUST_SALES__ZZROUTE for basic characteristic 0CUST_SALES: 2 changes
Attribute 0CUST_SALES__0BILLTOPRTY for basic characteristic 0CUST_SALES: 2 changes
Attribute 0CUST_SALES__0PAYER for basic characteristic 0CUST_SALES: 2 changes
Attribute 0CUST_SALES__ZZACGRP for basic characteristic 0CUST_SALES: 2 changes
0001 ZSD_C02    100016     Aggregates Will Be Adjusted by:Reconstruction
0002 ZSD_C02    100019     Aggregates Will Be Adjusted by:Reconstruction
After seeing this i revisited the documentation for threshold value in RSCUSTV8.  Ours is BLANK!  So according to the documents when it is blank the aggregate is reconstructed generally.  Not what we want!!
I will change the setting to the suggested 20% to start and we'll work from there.
Thanks for your help Oliver.

  • Small confusion about aggregates and attribute change run.. plz explain

    hi bw experts,
i am having a small confusion regarding the aggregates and attribute change run.
as far as in know if there is any new master data loaded, then we will activate it by context menu on the particular info object and select the option activate master data.
the second one is going to tools--?apply hierarchy/attribute change run option.
my doubt is is the attribute change run related to aggregates is yes then how,.?
appreciated if you plz help me in detail both these concepts and wherther there is any connection between them.
    thanks & regards.

    Hi Vijay sagar,
    ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN:
1)It's used after you change (add/delete/modify) attribute in the master data. You've to make it in order to have an effect after you modify it.
2)Once the master data has been loaded, the hierarchy/attribute change run is performed. Once this process chain has been ended correctly, master data and texts are available in an active format in SAP BW.
    To get it :
    1. tcode : RSA1.
    2. Tools -> Apply Hierarchy/Attribute Change
    3. tap on Info-object list button (checking what master data you've modified before).
    4. tap on selection button for type of job
    5. Execute.

    AGGREGATES:
1)Aggregates make it possible to access InfoCube data quickly in reporting. In doing so, aggregates help improve performance. (See Aggregate.)
2)In order to be able to insert aggregates effectively, it is important to find out which aggregates are frequently used or have not been used in a long time.
3)Aggregates contains not only general data but also data that appears in an aggregate after data is filled and rolled up. Reporting in this InfoCube reveals how often data was loaded into an aggregate, how long filling and rolling up took, and whether it took longer to read or write the data.
4)Adding when Rolling Up in Aggregate  counts the time required to write the data to the aggregate.
The Records, Read for Aggregate Structure key figure  counts the data records that are read for constructing the aggregate.

Hi i have 50 infoobjects as part of my aggregates and in that 10 infoobjects have received changes in masterdata.so in my process chain the Attribute change run in running for a long time.can i kill the job and repeat the same.

    Hi,
I believe this would be your Prod system, so don't just cancel it but look at the job log. If it is still processing then don't kill it and wait for the change run to complete but if you can see that nothing is happening and it is stuck for a long time then you can go ahead and cancel it.
But please be sure, as these kind of jobs can create problems if you cancel them in the middle of a job.

  • Cost Order Attribute Extraction (0COORDER_ATTR) - ABAP Dump

I am having trouble with this Cost Order Attribute Extraction (0COORDER_ATTR).    It happened on the R3 side, and it is ABAP dump.

Any idea on how to fix this problem.

    Hello,
Have you checked the structure L_S_BIW_COOR if it has the field CCKEY ?
When it happens the dump? when you do a Check extractor in RSA3 t-code?
Have you done any enhacement to the datasource? adding extra fields and filling them in the EXIT...

  • How to make Attribute Change run alignment & Hierarchy changes in Aggregat

    Hello
I want to understand that How to make Attribute Change run alignment & Hierarchy changes in Aggregate?
I posted previously the same question but there were not good answers and i was not able to understand clearly .....
If there is Process chain XXY which makes Attribute change run for Master Data 0SPELLING ?
Now there is Aggregate TRT which includes :
0SPELLING , Fiscal Period , Purchase Product, Purchase Category ?
Now pls answer following question ?
    1) Does the Process Chain XXY which makes only attribute change run alignment for 0SPELLING , Will this process chain automatically do the Change run alignment for 0SPELLING in Aggregate TRT ? YES or NO
    2) If Yes, then we are just suppose to do Roll up for Aggregate TRT after Process chian XXY completes and finish job ?
    3) If No, then what steps are suppose to be DONE so as to make sure that Aggregate TRT has new values and perfect values for 0SPELLING ?
Please answer and coorect if i have any wrong question....

    for e.g.
u have 0spelling whicha has attributes x,y and z on day 1 with 10 records
so do ur aggregates on day1 with same values
now on day2 u had new values of attributes y,z,s,d and new hierarchies and so u add new records
with data load u will load the data with version M of modified and is not available for reporting
If u do attribute change run then this modified version is activated to A i.e. active version .
It will also do the change run alignment for Aggregate for new attribute values and new hierarchy values for aggregate.
now in order for this data to be available for reporting u will need to do the roll up of aggregate.....
if u roll up aggregate before attribute change run , new data is not avaialable for reporting
if u roll up aggregate after attribute change run, then data is available for reporting
if u dont roll up aggregate eventhough new data is in dataprovider, still new data will not be available for reporting.
    this is how it works

  • Wanted: only attributes .extract() - function returns the complete node

Hi I have xml documents stored as XMLType, I would like to extract only the attributes of a node which I point to using a xPath expression. As a matter of fact the funcion .extract( some XPath) returns the corresponding node inclusive all children. This is very costly since I have large XML documents having a deep structure.
    Thanks

    Your XPATH is incorrect
The XPATH you provided identifies the node with the attribute name = blah
The XPATH you want would end with /@*
    See
    http://www.w3c.org/TR/xpath#section-Location-Steps
    eg
    SQL> select extract(xml,'/Root/Element[@A1="FOO"]/@*')
    2 from
    3 (select xmltype(
    4 '
    5 <Root>
    6 <Element A1="FOO" A2="BAA"/>
    7 <Element A1="BAA" A2="FOO"/>
    8 </Root>
    9 ') xml
    10 from dual
    11 );
    EXTRACT(XML,'/ROOT/ELEMENT[@A1="FOO"]/@*')
    FOOBAA
Unfortunately, extract will return a concatenation of the value of the selected attributes

  • How does attribute change run works for Aggregates and Master data?

  • How to  extract  master data  attribute from  r/3 to bw give steps details

how to  extract  master data  attribute from  r/3 to bw give steps details screenshots

    Hi
Go through the below process to extract Master Data Attribute from R/3
    Hi,
    Maintaining Generic DataSources
    Use
Regardless of the application, you can create and maintain generic DataSources for transaction data, master data attributes or texts from any transparent table, database view or SAP Query InfoSet, or using a function module. This allows you to extract data generically.
    Procedure
    Creating Generic DataSources
    1. Select the DataSource type and specify a technical name.
    2. Choose Create.
The screen for creating a generic DataSource appears.
    3. Choose the application component to which you want to assign the DataSource.
    4. Enter the descriptive texts. You can choose any text.
    5. Select the datasets from which you want to fill the generic DataSource.
    a. Choose Extraction from View if you want to extract data from a transparent table or a database view. Enter the name of the table or the database view.
After you generate the DataSource, you have a DataSource with an extraction structure that corresponds to the database view or transparent table.
For more information about creating and maintaining database views and tables, see the ABAP Dictionary Documentation.
    b. Choose Extraction from Query if you want to use a SAP Query InfoSet as the data source. Select the required InfoSet from the InfoSet catalog.
Notes on Extraction Using SAP Query
After you generate the DataSource, you have a DataSource with an extraction structure that corresponds to the InfoSet.
For more information about maintaining the InfoSet, see the System Administration documentation.
    c. Choose Extraction Using FM if you want to extract data using a function module. Enter the function module and extraction structure.
The data must be transferred by the function module in an interface table E_T_DATA.
    Interface Description and Extraction Process
For information about the function library, see the ABAP Workbench: Tools documentation.
    d. With texts you also have the option of extracting from fixed values for domains.
    6. Maintain the settings for delta transfer, as required.
    7. Choose Save.
When performing extraction, note SAP Query: Assigning to a User Group.
Note when extracting from a transparent table or view:
If the extraction structure contains a key figure field that references a unit of measure or a currency unit field, this unit field has to be included in the same extraction structure as the key figure field.
A screen appears on which you can edit the fields of the extraction structure.
    8. Edit the DataSource:
    &#9675; Selection
When you schedule a data request in the BI scheduler, you can enter the selection criteria for the data transfer. For example, you can determine that data requests are only to apply to data from the previous month.
If you set the Selection indicator for a field within the extraction structure, the data for this field is transferred in correspondence with the selection criteria in the scheduler.
    &#9675; Hide field
You set this indicator to exclude an extraction structure field from the data transfer. The field is no longer available in BI when you set the transfer rules or generate the transfer structure.
    &#9675; Inversion
Reverse postings are possible for customer-defined key figures. Therefore inversion is only active for certain transaction data DataSources. These include DataSources that have a field that is marked as an inversion field, for example, the update mode field in DataSource 0FI_AP_3. If this field has a value, the data records are interpreted as reverse records in BI.
If you want to carry out a reverse posting for a customer-defined field (key figure), set the Inversion indicator. The value of the key figure is transferred to BI in inverted form (multiplied by –1).
&#9675; Field only known in exit
You can enhance data by extending the extraction structure for a DataSource by adding fields in append structures.
The Field Only Known in Exit indicator is set for the fields of an append structure; by default these fields are not passed to the extractor from the field list and selection table.
Deselect the Field Only Known in Exit indicator to enable the Service API to pass on the append structure field to the extractor together with the fields of the delivered extract structures in the field list and in the selection table.
    9. Choose DataSource ® Generate.
The DataSource is saved in the source system.
    Maintaining Generic DataSources
    &#9679; Change DataSource
To change a generic DataSource, in the initial screen of DataSource maintenance, enter the name of the DataSource and choose Change.
You can change the assignment of a DataSource to an application component or change the texts of a DataSource. Double-click on the name of the table, view, InfoSet or extraction structure to get to the appropriate maintenance screen. Here you make the changes to add new fields. You can also completely swap transparent tables and database views, though this is not possible with InfoSets. Return to DataSource maintenance and choose Create. The screen for editing a DataSource appears. To save the DataSource in the SAP source system, choose DataSource ® Generate.
If you want to test extraction in the source system independently of a BI system, choose DataSource ® Test Extraction.
    &#9679; Delta DataSource
On the Change Generic DataSource screen, you can delete any DataSources that are no longer relevant. If you are extracting data from an InfoSet, delete the corresponding query. If you want to delete a DataSource, make sure it is not connected to a BI system.

  • Aggregates with Attribute Change Run and Master data

    Hi !
I created Aggregate which includes Master Data such as Customer , Customer Number , Material , Material Number.....
It also contains navigational attribute and hierarchy...
Now we all know that if Master data and Hierarchy changes frequently(or some new values are added or new attributes are added etc.) we want to see the respective change in Aggregates too
So just Rolling up aggregate will not help.
We need to apply Attribute Change run for this purpose, to aggregates..
Now the question is HOW TO  APPLY ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN to aggregates?
How to automate this process with Process chains..?
If i create Aggregate on Master Data CUSTOMER NO., DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE THAT AGGREGATE IN ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN FOR THAT CUSTOMER NO. PROCESS CHAINS ?   Yes or No..........
(What i mean to say is if there is Attribute Change Run for Customer No. and if this is in Process chains specially created for Customer Number , than as aggregates are created on  Customer No., does i t automatically applies and make changes to Aggregate too, or do we hvae to create special process chian for it ?)
Please reply asap ? its urgent

  • Attribute change run and aggregates

    Hi Gurus,
After loading to master data, we do the Attribute change run via RSA!->Tools and select the particular infoobject (which was loaded).
After this do we need to activate the aggregates or are they taken care by the change run which was done for the infoobject.
Also do we need to activate the master data via its context menu or is the attribute change run sufficient.
    Thanks,

Whenever you load new datas into your master data table it wil be in M version(Modified version). you are running an attribute change run to change the M version to A version(Active version). so you dont have to activate the master data separately via its context menu.
The attribute change run will aslo take care of your aggregates. You dont have to activate your aggregates separately.

  • Extracting CRM Marketing attributes

    Hi all,
I've to extract some marketing attributes to BW. There are no datasources available in rsa5. Marketing attributes are created in CRM through FM.
I'm new to BW, can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Kr.

    Hi,
    Please check this link below
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm50/helpdata/en/51/a39a653491e549b4476d90ab4b7c86/content.htm
    I think these are correct,
    0CRM_MKTATTR_ATTR
    0CRM_MKTATTR_TEXT
    0CRM_MKTMETA_ATTR (metadata)
    0CRM_MKTMETA_TEXT (metadata)
Procedure for Data Loading for CRM Marketing Attributes
           1.      Fill the ODS object 0ATR_DS01 using the DataSource 0CRM_MKTATTR_ATTR.
           2.      Load the texts for info object 0MKTATWRT using the DataSource 0CRM_MKTATTR_TEXT.
           3.      Load the metadata using the DataSources 0CRM_MKTMETA_ATTR and 0CRM_MKTMETA_TEXT.
    Business Partner Marketing Attributes
Marketing attributes are used in CRM for business partner segmentation and can have single as well as multiple values (for example, hobbies), or can be created as intervals (for example, age from/to).
The multiple value attributes can be extracted using a generic extractor to an ODS object in the BW system. The update to the business partner attributes as well as the attributes themselves strongly depend on the modeling of the marketing attributes in the CRM system. The delivered content is therefore not valid for all situations. For this reason, demo content is delivered with this InfoArea, which you can then use as a template for your own development. You can find this demo content under SAP Demo ®  SAP Demo CRM Marketing Attributes.

  • TREX python extension for HTML attribute extraction

How is the TREX python extension for HTML attribute extraction supposed to work?
I activated this extension and indexed an HTML document containing:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <META content="debian, GNU, linux, unix" name=Keywords>
    <HEAD>
    <HTML>
Why when submitting the query "unix" this document is not found by the system?
    (TREX version 6.1.11.02)
    Davide

The trick doesn't work on my system (TREX v. 6.1.11.02).
    1) This is the edited line in getDCAttributes.py:
    knownAttributes = ['description','Keywords']
    2) Only the HTML Attribute Extractor extension is activated in extensions.py. In particular, the Dublin Core extension is deactivated.
    3) This is the pythonextension section of TREXPreprocessor.ini:
    extensiontype= beforeHTTP
    4) This is the parametrization of the newly created property in CM:
    <i>Unique ID: html_keywords
    Description: not set
    Property ID: Keywords
    Namespace Alias: trilog
    Type: String
    Group: html
    Mandatory: not checked
    Multi-Valued: not checked
    Read Only: not checked
    Maintainable: not checked
    Indexable: checked
    Default Value: not set
    Allowed Values: not set
    Key for Label: not set
    Meta Data Extension: not set
    Folder Validity Patterns: /
    Document Validity Patterns: /
    Resource Types: not set
    Mime Types: not set
    Default Sorting     Ascending: not set
    Label Icon: not set
    Hidden: not checked
    Dependencies: not checked
    Additional Metadata: not set
    Property Renderer: not set
    Virtual: not checked
    Composed of: not set
    Comparator Class: not set</i>
    5) I've added this property in the parameters <i>Allowed Predefined Properties</i> and <i>Predefined Properties</i> under <i>Content Management -> User Interface -> Search</i>
    6) Now it's possible to filter by the <b>Keywords</b> predefined property in the Search UI, but no matches are ever found.
    7) No significant message is found in PythonExtension.log:
    # running global extensions.py at Tue Jul 12 11:13:03 2005
    ### import getHtmlAttributes
    # running global extensions.py at Tue Jul 12 11:13:04 2005
    ### import getHtmlAttributes
    8) I've run another test <b>activating the Dublin Core extension</b> in extensions.py as well, and setting extensiontype to beforeLEXICON in TREXPreprocessor.ini. Nevertheless it didn't work.
    9) Here's some DC extension's output:
    ### Parse document with key: '/davide_test/attributi/GNU_Emacs.htm'
    ### extracted attributes: []
    This is the GNU_Emacs.htm's <head>:
    <META content=emacs name=keywords>

  • Attribute change Run Failed/Scheduled

    Hello All,
For a process Chain Attribute Change Run has failed in BW 3.5,and I Repeated the Change Run in Chain only
where Repeat option is ,now the problem is in RSA1 it is now that change run is scheduled
and sm37 it is showing that Canceled.
Now there is Other Process Chain in BI7.0  which picks data from  3.5
Should I repeat the Master data Chain in BW 3.5 followed by in BI 7.0
Or any other way is possible as in BI7 the chain has run successfully..
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran.......
BI 7.0 and BW 3.5............totally two seperate systems..............here BW 3.5 is just act as a source system of BI 7.0.............if change run fails in BW3.5...............it is not going to effect BI 7.0.............
As ajeet already said............it will effect the SID s in 3.5.............because attribute change run activates the master data...........and SID get generated during the activation of master data.......
Also it will effect the aggregates............because aggregates also get adjusted during change run.......if any of the aggregates contains the master data.........which are getting activated in the change run....
Now u r saying........that in SM37 it is showing that the job got cancelled............So it will not locked the master data..............terminated change runs generally lock the master data............then we hav to repeat the chain run to release the lock.........and u hav already repeated the change run............so no issue........
    Hope this helps..........

    Debjani........
