Effect of Mass Compile on VI default values?

Does a mass compile during upgrade from one version of LabVIEW to
latest version cause default values of VIs to be reset? Here and
there I set front panel defaults so I can easily do standalone testing
of the individual VI. Furthermore, there are times I keep the
defaults for actual application use.

when i do a mass compile on my project , it keeps on looping during a save operation
and it does that may be a 50 times & eventually ends also without error.

Just as TiTou said: it looks like recompiling each VI which depend on any class hierarchy makes LV recompile each VI of this hierarchy, and then each VI of this class makes recompilation of each other VI, etc... As a workaround you can try closing the project and mass compile project folder from Tools->Advanced menu. I noticed this does not loop as much as there are not all dependencies loaded, but there are many more factors to this (i.e. how you managed libraries and classes dependencies). Furthermore, this might not give you exactly the same effect as mass compiling the project (same reason - not all dependencies are loaded).

Hi DiracDeltaForce,
As a first pass, I would recommend disabling or deleting a section of code that you suspect may cause the compile error and see if you can get through synthesis. Once you get through a compile, you have at least isolated the trouble spot.
Something I would look for in your code is attempts to access the same IO node in multiple clock domains, ie inside and outside of SCTL (single-cycle timed loops), timed sequence structures, or in muliple timed structures with different clock rates. Attempting this would force LabVIEW to create arbitraion and hand-shaking logic to safely pass data between clock domains. This type of logic doesn't work in a timed structure because the hand-shaking operation takes multiple clock cycles.
If you are only using traditional sequence structures (rather than the timed sequence structures) I wouldn't suspect this type of issue.

TestStand - Default Values 82.llb missing

I've recently upgraded to Labview 8.2 (I already had TestStand 3.5), and when I try to call a VI using some default parameters and some defined parameters, I get an error saying that "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\AdapterSupport\LabVIEW\TestStand - Default Values 80.llb" is missing. Where do I get this file from? In the directory I see versions of this file for 8.0, 7.1 and 7.0 only. I've tried reinstalling TestStand and LabVIEW, but the installation options say everything is already defined, and i don't see an install component for anything like TestStand 3.5 LabVIEW Support.

Copy the 80 version, rename it 82. Mass compile this LLB in 8.2. This should fix your problem.

SQLLDR - how to set a default value for an empty string

I'm using SQLLDR to load data from a flat file on Oracle 10g 10.2.0.4 EE, Linux RHEL 4 update 6. Seems like my question is simple, but darned if I can't find the solution.
My source file (comma delimited extracted form a different RDBMS) has some (not all) rows where the output for a string is "", and not NULL. How do I check for empty string and add a default value in the control file? The target column is non-nullable
Here's my current control file - however, the column attributeName where sometimes the source record is "" does not get evaluated as NULL.

I just loaded following data successfully in my_data table using the same control file I posted. Yes it will evaluate "" as null and replace with none, remember in control file you have this option, "optionally enclosed by '"'.

I recently ported my project to a new PC. Everything seems to run fine uncompiled, and I am able to build an executable without issue. However, my build specification shows up in the project explorer with question mark next to it. When I try to build again or edit the properties I get a popup with the information below:

I've seen messages from people getting the same error when trying to run a compiled executable, but mine actually runs fine. I am just unable to open the build specification to rebuild or edit its properties.

This application is for a Windows machine, and I am not using the Report Generation Toolkit. However, I shut down my computer last night and when I booted it up this morning my Build Specification now opens fine and I am able to edit it. My only thought as to why it occured in the first place is that I had added several files to user.lib and instr.lib and restarted LabVIEW, but it appears that it required my computer to be restarted as well.

I have a program written which uses the print report function. Everything works fine in the uncompiled code, my report prints just fine. I can compile my project all the way to a full installer. When I run the executable I get the error:

Setting a Default Value in SQL Query Report

Hello:
We are using a SQL Query Report to provide a mass update to a table. We are using the apex.collection and having it display a number of records in a SQL Query Report for mass update. We have 14 columns in the report, for which the first 11 are populated via the collection. The remaining 3 are open for input but the individual making the updates. We've were able to provide a default value for 2 of the remaining 3 columns using a named LOV's - however the fourth column we would like to default a sysdate - but we are not successful.
We've attempted many things but none seem to work, including adding that column to the collection and assigning it a default sysdate value. We've also tried changing the settings in the report attributes --> Tabular Form Elements by setting the Display as to: Datepicker, Default type to PL/SQL Expression and setting the default to sysdate. We've also tried caputuring a date on the previous page and loading it onto the report page and trying to default the date column to a page item default.
I'd appreciate any help.

Add DFF to iProcurement Requisition header in the same way. Define a DFF again:
1. Create a new Value Set.
2. Define Values for the value set created in step 1.
3. Add Value Set to the Flex Field Segment in Application: Purchasing and Title: ReqExpress Headers.
4. Freeze and Compile the FlexField definition.
The steps to enable DFF in IP HTML pages are as follows:
1. Enable profile Personalize Self-Service Defn to yes at the user level
2. Log in to iProcurement
3. Go to Checkout: Requisition Information page
4. Click Personalize Page at the top of the page
5. Look for Flex: (ReqHeaderDFF)
6. Click Edit (Pencil)
7. Change Rendered from false to true8. Click Apply
9. Click Return to Application

Thanks for your quick reply. I did a different solution just by adding value set with Pop List and attached to DFF segment. The value set that I created is for single value saying Yes. So on the page by default it will display NULL. If user want to select a value then they will select Yes from the pop list. On that same region I created TIP and left a note.
I will follow the approach that you mentioned, for my future extensions. Thank you for your help again.

Default Values for Creation of STO's.

Hello Experts:
When I create STO's, I don't see any source of default values, like Delivery Tolerance, Confirmation control key, etc, that for a PO usually come from the Vendor or The Info Record.
We have managed to add these values via BADI, but for STo's created from APO via Transportation load Builder, this Badi is no taking effect. (The Badi I used is and works fine when doing it online, in ME21N or via a BAPI.
Do you have any experience on where (user exit, etc) to add logic for putting these default values in the STO's created by TLB.

Setting Default values in portal form

I have a portal Master/Detail Form. I want to set some of the detail block columns value to the value of a field in the master block.
In the formattng option of the detail column, I tried setting default value to:
p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(p_block_name=>'MASTER_BLOCK', p_attribute_name=>'A_CLASS_CD');
and default value type to: function (I also tried expression). It compiles, but gives me an error when I ry running form. How can you set the default value (from the value of a differnt field)?

Best practice for default values in EO

I have and entity called AUTH_USER (a user table) within it has 2 TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE columns like this ...:
EFF_DATE TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE NOT NULL DEFAULT current_timestamp,
TERM_DATE TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE
Notice EFF_DATE has a default constraint and is not nullable.
In the EO, EFF_DATE is represented as a TIMESTAMPTZ and is checked as MANDATORY in its attribute properties. I cannot commit a NEW RECORD based on VO derived from this EO because of the MANDATORY constraint that is set in the EFF_DATE attribute's properties unless I enter a value. My original strategy was to have the field populated by a DEFAULT DATE if the user should attempt to leave this field null.
This is my deli ma.
1. I could have the database populate the value based on the default constraint in the table definition. Since EFF_DATE and TERM_DATE resemble the Effective Date (Start, End) properties that the framework already provides then I could set both fields as Effective Date (Start, End) and then check Refresh After Insert. But this still won't work unless I deselect the mandatory property on EFF_DATE.
2. The previous solution would work. However, I'm not sure that it is part of a "Best Practices" solution. In my mind if a database column is mandatory in the database then it should be mandatory in the Model as well.
3. If the first option is a poor choice, then what I need to do is to leave the attribute defined and mandatory and have a DEFAULT VALUE set in the RowImpl create method.
4. Finally, I could just force the user to enter a value. That would seem to be the common sense thing to do. I mean that's what calendar widgets and AJAX enabled JSF are for!
Regardless to what the correct answer is, I'd like to see some sample code of how the date can be populated inside the RowImpl create method and it pass to setEffDate(TimestampTZ dt). Keep in mind though that in this instance I need the timezone at the database server side and not the client side. I would also ask for advice on doing this with Groovy Scripting or expressions.
And finally, what is the best practice in this situation?

How about setting the default value property of the attribute in the EO to be adf.currentDate ?
(assuming you are using 11g).
This way there is a default date being set when the record is created and the user can change it if he wants to.

Default value at Account Object Field setup

Hi,
How to give default value as ‘On Demand’ for the Source field at the time of Account creation and also we need to bypass this default value if the channel is web service and data import. This default should only effect if it is being done from OD UI.
I added below expression in DefaultValue

but it giving an error as below when clicking New button in Account Object:
