Efficient Transaction System

Hello
I need to design a wallet system for a product of ours. Basically it will manage a large number of "wallets" for the users registered with the product. Obviously it requires transaction logs and support rollbacks and all that jazz.
My question to those people that have worked on systems like these or have an educated insight on it is to please share some information or pointers to information with me.
For example, i see the transaction log tables becoming way to large to do common queries on such as extracting the transaction log of a specific user, so i assume i have to keep said personal transaction logs up to date with every transaction that occurs.
I'm sure there are quite a few bottlenecks here and there and i'd much appreciate any input you guys can give me. thanks!

By wallet do you mean money?
And what do you mean by 'log'? Typically that can either refer to debug information or it can refer to requirements logging. For example it is the difference between logging 'Entered method x now' and 'User A withdrew $20'.
If requirements logging then you must keep it.
As for large you first need to size it. What is the actual size of a record? How many average transactions will occur for a given day? What is the peak rate? How will both of those grow over time?
Additionally you can not just allow any query. You must define acceptable queries now and only allow for those. If you really have large volumes then just managing the indexes can become a problem.

Call transaction system lock error

Hi friends,
i am uploading data to some transaction using call transaction method with synchronus update.
when i schedule the same program as 2 jobs in the back ground (splitting the file in to 2) most of the records are failed with the error 'SYSTEM_LOCK'.....
any suggession on this? thanks

That would depend on a number of factors - the transaction you are using, your hardware platform and other system activity while the load is going on. So no, I can't tell you how long this will take.
But if you load say 1,000 records into your QA system (and multiply by 100), this should give you a rough idea of how long. The Production load will take more or less time depending on hardware and system usage.

ADS Error Transaction system failure in method rpData

Hi, just wondering if anybody has experienced this error and would have a clue. In one of our environments, ADS server returns this error for a few of our forms. These same forms work in all our other environments. And most of our forms DO work in this environment. So apart from checking our ADS configuration, does anyone have an idea why we could get this error FOR JUST A FEW FORMS, IN ONLY ONE ENVIRONMENT ?
( Guess if our logic was wrong in a few forms, they would not work in any environment. If ADS / SAP was not configured properly in this environment, none of our forms would work in this environment. Note that this environment was just refreshed from our production environment where everything works.) Thanks for your help,

Hi Mireille,
Just a guess, on ADS server check for the table named 'ADS_TABLE' (i forgot the exact table name, hope this is correct one). This table stores all adobe form names used mainly for licensing. Clear this table and it should start working again.
Once the table is empty if user accesses any adobe form, this form technical name will be stored in the table again. (So no need to worry about adding the entries in the table once it is cleared as system adds the entries in this table)
If this doesn't solve your issue I would suggest to restart ADS.

Transaction System trace code

I'm looking for code that would run in background for a trace on all programs, tables etc. that are accessed during a certain transaction, but the catch is that I'd like to run this and do my own filtering, evaluation etc. of this trace data. The standard transactions e.g. ST05 and SE30 is of partial assistance, but I'm looking for a more programatically manageable solution.
Anyone done something similar. A pointer to a class or function group would be helpful. Thank you.

De-duplication in MDM but there are transactions in client systems

Hi every one,
I have a question about removal of any duplicate record in the MDM consolidated from any system. Let suppose if there are several transactions are purformed using that duplicate master record. What if that master record has been deleted in de-duplication in the MDM. How do you change that master data used in transactions to a orignal and master copy.
For example there are parent-child relationship. Master data can not be deleted if there are transaction available.
If you know to deal with this scenario then please share with me as well.

Hi Naeem,
Firstly, MDM does not delete any duplicate records identified by the SAP-MDM system being fully aware that there may be open transactions on these master records which will have a direct impact if deleted.
When MDM identifies Duplicate master records across systems it merges them in MDM.Merging does not delete the original records in MDM but saves them as one merged record in the Key mapping.
The original records local key is still maintained on which existing transaction can continue to run.
The point here is these identified duplicates by MDM system can be informed to the transaction system team and futher transactions can be stopped on those duplicate master
Also we can then gradually move to the CMDM phase where once the duplicate masters are identified the new masters creation can be done centrally through MDM.
These are the Major actions that can be taken after duplicate finding using SAP-MDM.

Update multiple fields using select query efficiently – 9i

I need to populate a table called prop_charact used for synching data to a legacy system.
Prop_charact has fields that are found in a few other tables (no one field is found in more than one table outside of prop_charact). I want to pull the data from the corresponding fields in the source tables and put it into prop_charact. I only want to populate prop_charact with records that have been updated, but want to pull all fields for those records (whether or not that field has been updated). I am getting the list of updated records from a transaction history table.
After getting that list, I was not sure what to do with it.
I put what I want to do in terms of strictly SQL. I am thinking there are more efficient (less system resources) ways of doing this, but I am not sure what to pursue. I can use PL/SQL, but please keep in mind I am limited to using version 9i. Anyone have any hints about what I should look into using instead of just thes particular SQL statements?

Database transaction management with MDB

Hi all,
I'm working on an Online Order Processing system. One of the functionalities that we've developed is mass order upload, that consists of one CSV file with a lot of orders inside.
To have concurrent processing on the processing of an order upload file (as the orders present in file are independent of each), we've implemented a Message Driven Bean that receives an order to process in a request queue, processes the order and answers with the processed order in a response queue. The flow is like:
1- Struts action is invoked to handle order upload.
2- A method on a session bean is called to process the file.
3- The session bean parses the file, separates all the order lines by origin customer (one order for each customer in the file) and sends messages to the request queue.
4- For each order, an instance of the MDB will receive the message, process the order and send the processed order via response queue.
5- After the Session Bean sends all the requests with the orders to process, he will wait for all the responses in the response queue until all the orders are processed and provide a valid answer, according to the whole process result, to the online user.
My doubt is how can I manage efficiently transactions (mainly database transactions) so if inside a bunch of 200 orders processed concurrently one fails, I am able to rollback all the database transactions used by the MDB to process all the orders?
As the failure of an order can be related to some error in the file, I want to rollback everything, give a message to the user to fix the file and allow him to upload the whole file (fixed) again.
Any help would be appreciated.

1) As Of Version 4.6 C BAPIs has autocommit.ie Once you call a BAPI from anywhere before it returns it commits.So, we no need to worry about that.
But some BAPI's doesn't in that case only we need to make COMMIT call.
2)Transaction doesn't depend on Client object.
3)No.

Error while doing the Usage Decision in transaction QA32

Hello Friends,
While doing the goods receipt for customer returns from customer, system generated a inspection lot with inspection type 06.
So in QA32 transaction, system is showing that inspection lot, but in same screen, against the column InspPlan: Material, system is not showing any entry.
Later on after analysis, i found that no inspection plan was assinged to the material, Plant for which that inspection lot was created. When i checked that inpection lot in transaction QA03, in Insp. Specifications tab, agaisnt the Assigned Specification section, system was not showing any entry in fields Group, Group Counter, Plant, Usage.
And against that inspection lot,status CRTD, PREQ, CHCR are active.
Because of which, when user is trying to do the UD against this lot system throwing the error message as Status check error.
When i checked again i found that status CRTD is throwing the error message.
Hence friend, i want to do the Usage decision for that inspection lot than how to do?
Now user has assigned the material, plant to the inspection plan in QP02.
Should i go to QA02 transaction, and in Insp. Specification tab, for fields group, group counter, usage, Plant, maintain the values?
Will this allow me to do the usage decision against the inspection lot which got generated when no inspection plan was assingned to that material, plant?

is missing in inspection lot,generally inspection plan for that u run QA02 enter inspection lot no go to specification tab
there a button assigned specification there click on that as u click on button u will find that plan for above material copied to lot and it will show u plan detail line group and group counter no.
then go to next screen Sample if sample management is active and click on sample then system will calculate sample size then save ur lot. it would get Status As REL now ui can enter result or take UD

SAP J2EE Engine JTA Transaction Xml for table TABLE could not be ana

I'm having a weird case. I created 3 entity bean. In my R/3 will call this JCO.Function to do the insert to database. But out of 3 entity bean, only 1 entity bean got error where it unable to insert to database and have this error in the log.
The case is quite weird where i created the same entity but only 1 entity is not working as expected. Wondering what cause this problem.

I have solved my problem. Just want to let everyone know if u have to install the SP's for WEB AS 6.30/6.40.
You start from the installation from CD 6.30/6.40. Everything will be working at this point. You can login to Visual Admin, Config tool and SDM.
Before you apply any SP's, do the following:
a) Create an emergency user with the Administrator rights: Ref OSS Note:669848
Try to follow this route for SP's:
From CD 6.30/6.40 -> SP04 -> SP07
Apply SP04 first before applying SP07 (Recommended Approach).
Refer the installation guide: SAP Web AS Support Package Guide 630SP2 to 640SP4.
Use JDK1.4.2_05 to install SP04. You must reference the following OSS Notes and apply to your system accordingly, this is the key to an error free installation:
a) OSS Note: 697535
b) OSS Note: 709140
c) OSS Note: 716604
d) OSS Note: 706378
You have to be really careful with SP04 installation, because it changes the version from 6.30 -> 6.40.
Once you are able to install SP04 without any problems, you can directly apply SP07 or the highest 6.40 SP.

Status used in open and completed transactions in Fact Sheet

Hi! I would like to confirm the logics used in the fact sheet to display open and completed transactions. I read on the help that for open (for example) transactions, system is using status 'open' and 'in process'. This seems to me like system status. However, when I ran the fact sheet, the control is more at the user status level. So, I need clarification on this. Also, where can I find the status and transaction logics used for the extraction of these transactions (e.g. what transaction types are used)? I could not find the codings in the method GET_REPORT under class CL_CRM_CCKPT_PROCESS_CLOSED for example. Perhaps I have looked in the wrong place?

Curiosity about the level of load on SAP ERP systems

In my company, I'm in charge of the SAP capacity planning and so, every month, I fill several Excel sheets to follow the load of our systems.
I am curious to know if our load is similar to that of other SAP ERP customers.
I would be happy if some of you would like to post their monthly load statistics for R/3 or ECC systems.

460 declared users, average 110 concurrent users

We are a manufacturing company and we have a lot of batch processing (MRP et al).
Yes - the systems are pretty big
DB-Server/CI: 4 x DualCore Opteron - 48 GB Memory (ENQ, BTC)
AppServer: 4 x Opteron 48 GB Memory
From a technical point of view we wouldn´t need the application server, the DB server could handle that load too.
The main requirement we have is, that the avg. reponse time in VA01 for each line item is below 450 ms everywhere on the world (China, Poland, Russia) on those remote locations - the system is in Germany - so we are trying to make sure, that the main time consumed on the box itself is rather small because of not always reliant network connections to the east part of the world (actually VPN). 1/3 - 1/2 of the actual avg. reponse time is consumed for network transmission.
On top of that we have about 550 printers defined because we print everything, that is related to the business process out of this SAP system which will also consume quite a bit of network speed/bandwith.
Our users are pretty much "regaled" with response time, on days, where the avg. time is increasing 100 ms, we get a LOT of calls because of a slow system. The benchmark assumed 2 seconds are unacceptable for our users thus it may appear, that the boxes are oversized but we need that power to ensure the speed.

No Company Code Track in Inter Company Code Transactions

Hi,
When we post an inter company code transaction system generates two documents in Both company codes involved in the transaction and an internal auto generated cross company code document number. But when i view these documents i am unable to see from which company receivable is standing and two which company payable is standing. it only shows in which company code the transaction was posted but no information is being provided against line item so that we can see on which company behalf have we booked or paid the expense. we are posting inter company code transaction through f-02. is there any other specific transaction code for this? or any report or any other way to view how much from which company is recyclable/Payable standing? please also not that we are using two different g/l for inter company receivable and payable.

Can you please post the screen shot of one of those document . IF i am not wrong you want to know that in which company ocde it posted . YOu can find out from the Number range and then Comapny code in Docuemnt number .( In this Trading Partner poplauted Automatically) So definately you need Tranding partner to do intercomapny reconciliation
IF you have Cross comapny code Transaction you will have cross comapny docuemnt number in FB03 as below which you can see in FBU3 .
Sometime you do not post Cross company transaction but you post in Individual companies with trading Partner .
in this case there will not be any cross company document .. Please check your OBYA configuration and check which GL code you have defined and whether you have maintaned the config tfor that

Oracle 10g database as Resource manager and heuristic transaction decision

Hi,
I have read in documents about distributed tarnsaction that resource manager like oracle databasecthat are involved in distributed transaction can take heuristic decision(unilateral decision) and can either rollback or commit the transaction associated with itself without having confirmation from the transaction manager.
I want to know how a resource manager take this unilateral decision and can we set this as parameter either in resource manager or in application server.

Heuristics
To achieve consensus, two-phase commit is a blocking protocol. This means that, if a coordinator fails before delivering the final phase messages, the participants must remain blocked, holding onto resources. Modern transaction systems add heuristics to two-phase commit, which allows such participants to make unilateral decisions about whether they will commit or rollback. If a participant makes a choice that turns out to be different from the one taken by other participants, then non-atomic behavior occurs.
I got this problem while trying to do a distributed J2EE tarnsaction with two XA (one MQ and other Oracle 10g database XA) and one non-xa (oracle 10g database). According to above docs a resource manager can decide tarnsaction final state unilaterally and that can result in unatomic transaction.
Do oracle also make such decision and if yes then on what ground it takes decision? Can we change this according to our requirement either always rollback/commit anywhere as parameter setting?
