Effort to upgrade from GRC 5.2 to GRC 5.3

Hi,
We're looking to begin an upgrade of GRC 5.2 to GRC 5.3 and I've been going through all of the upgrade documentation and the associated notes for the current GRC 5.3 version.  I was wondering for those that have done this upgrade if you can tell me approximately how many hours it took to not only install but test and deploy.  I'm starting to build the project plan and want to know what I'm going to be looking at from an effort standpoint.
Any help that can be provided is appreciated.
Thanks!
Elizabeth

Elizabeth,
It does not take much time to install and deploy, since you are only replacing the front-end application.  If you have an experienced Basis person, then it should not take more than 1 day to install, and maybe 2 days for post-installation.
Breakdown (assumes best-case scenarios):
Replace 5.2 with 5.3 front-end: 1 day
Upgrade to 5.3 RTA's in target systems: 1 day
Post-install configuration: 2 days
Testing: will depend on customer and what functionalities they are using and want to use in AC5.3
AC5.3 possesses new functionality, like UAR/SoD Review.  So if that needs to be configured, you will have to build that into your project plan.  In addition, you will need to build your testing scenarios and that will depend on your customer/client.

  • Which option is the best - Upgrade from GRC 5.3 to 10.1 or migration from GRC 5.3 to 10.1

    Hi All,
One of my client is expecting to use GRC 10.1. Currently they have GRC 5.3 and want to upgrade to GRC 10.1
Can anybody give me benefits of both options - Upgrade vs Migration then it would be great ?
    Thanks,
    Aditi Shah

    Hello Steve,
Migration you deploy Java component and extract data form 5.3 and import in 10.
still lots of work to be done like and implementation as there are pre-requisite.
second approach does not need to extract all data from 5.3 system(apart from Ruleset,if at all its required)
I never migrate workflows better to create new one identical and faster i believe .
Second approach is little time consuming but good from my point of view.
In java stack people normally go with 2 system landscape .
there has been client where in ABAP people go with 3 system landscape.
now where tricky consulting part play and which data to be imported where.
and few other points needed to be looked like when you use tools and import data.
you actually import all transaction  data which contain all active and inactive
    expired.
in you go with 2nd option you will have only valid data to start with.

  • Effort to upgrade from version 9.0.4.5 to 10.1.3.0.0

What kind of effort is required to upgrade from 9.0.4.5 of Toplink to 10.1.3.0 (or later)? Any tips on estimating this effort? Any gotchas? Good Experiences? Bad Experiences?
    Thanks,
    Michael

If you're talking about a big system, 200+ descriptors, it could be like this:
    Sorry for the long post.
I have been upgrading from 9.0.3x to 10.1.3.0 and have been running into quite a few things that seem to have been tightened up in the tl runtime.
Now, I would say that we have a test suite of 550 tests that tries to excercise the code and the TL implementation. And the way we implemented many of tests was with disregard for how TL would react to cached object changes. So, for example, in 9.03 we could get away with adding objects to TL-cached container objects outside of a UOW and it would not affect other objects in the system. But with 10.1.3 the cache got globally messed up and subsequent tests failed.
It was aggrevating that the tests would run independently and I had to debug the test suite. BUT this is mainly in the way we were testing and goes against the TOPLink mantra of "don't change a toplink object outside a uow". So you probably won't run into that.
I had a couple of remappings I had to do after using the Workbench to convert. Most were because in 9.0.3 you weren't required to have all of the heirarchy present in the builder for mapping inherited attributes and the builder left a few subclass descriptor mappings off.
I had some expression issues when dealing with the aggregate object vs. query keys. In 9.03 you could say exp.get("date").equal(aDateWrapper.getDate()) and if date was an aggregate mapping of DateWrapper and a querykey it would still work. But this threw an exception in 10.1.3. I had to clean it up to say
    exp.get("date").equal(aDateWrapper), which is more correct.
If your object model is pretty complex, like ours, you may have implemented some strange hierarchies/mappings. Another thread "Trouble implementing non-key relationship", highlights an issue I couldn't figure out.
The Package renaming gave me some issues because the UnitOfWork deprecation was not included. The original UnitOfWork remains in the code but shows a deprecation marker. That's fine. But there are so many deprecations in 10.1.3 that I had some trouble tracking down ALL of the deprecated declarations of UOW. SO, to get rid of this UnitOfWork deprecation use a global replace if you can. Or just take better refactoring steps than I did. It would be best if the package rename could have somehow included that.
It's been three weeks so far and I'm just now testing the application instead of the test suite. Overall I'm glad to be upgrading, but I'll definitely keep a closer watch on upgrades from now on. And I'm glad for the 550 tests.

    Hi Jyoti,
When UNinstalling 5.2 have you  uninstalled   virsa~ccxsysdb.sda file.?????
As per the Upgrade guide we should not uninstall virsa~ccxsysdb.sda.
you need to redeploy the Database file named "virsa~ccxsysdb.sda" of CC 5.2 with the overwrite option in the SDM

  • Why upgrade from Compliance Calibrator to GRC?

Hello Experts- My company has yet to implement GRC 5.3. We already utilize SAP Compliance Calibrator by Virsa Systems 4.0, which works fine, so what would be the benefit of upgrading to GRC? Is it really necessary? Is it just to stay current? Also, is it true that GRC will be moving from Java back to an ABAP stack? If so, when is the new ABAP version of GRC set to be available?
Thanks for your advice and opinions.

Regarding the upgrade from 4.0 to 5.3 I concur with Alpesh and Varun.
Regarding the upgrade to 10.0, current plans are for Ramp-up to be available in December 2010 with general release scheduled for mid 2011.
According to the latest material from SAP, they are only supporting a migration path as follows:
    4.0 -->5.3 --> 10.0
There is no supported upgrade path from 4.0 directly to 10.0.
It should be noted that it is a significant change in architecture and therefore not a simple migration path. SAP are recommending an upgrade to 5.3 followed by a migration to 10.0 for the technical side of things.
5.3 does still have some significant advantages over 4.0 and therefore is still an option. owever, if you wish to register your interest, SAP are seeking ramp up customers so I would suggest you contact your Consultants or account management within SAP to discuss the options if you are considering it.

  • Finder crashes with OS 10.6.8. With or without any apps running finder will hang repeatedly causing the iMac to hang also. I upgraded from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 recently and finder was OK for 1 week. How do I submit a crash log?

Folllowing an upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8  (Snow Leopard) Finder frequently hangs, causing any open apps and the iMac to hang. This will occur whether or not any 3rd party apps or Safari are open. About 50% of the time trying to empty the trash will cause a finder hang. There are no error messages to let me know what code such a hang may be. Repeated attempts to force quit the iMac always fail, so I have to hard crash using the power button. Multiple attempts are required to successfully restart via the login screen. I do not know whether any other apps, such as Safari or screen saver may be involved. I think a crash log would help, however I am not sure whether I should look in: useres/library/logs/DaiagnosticReports or : users/library/logs/CrashReporter, and whether I should attempt to open the latest in either in Console or Text edit and then post here. Also, is this the appropriate site to post a log in the hope that Apple may look at it? I have read through threads on Apple finder, and am stunned to find that after all these OS-X versions finder is still buggy and inferior to MS Explorer and Apple appears to be in denial. Maybe their efforts are in devices such as iPhones and iPads? Ths issue never occured in OS 10.5.8.

  • Idsm-2 problem: sensor upgrade from 4.1 to 5 or higher

    Hi all,
I have a problem with my IDSM-2 module. I'm trying to sensor upgrade from IDS to IPS software (from 4.1 version to 5.x or higher).
If I do this from sensor under "admin user" and use major patch - IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg then I receive error:

But file "IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1e-S149.rpm.pkg" is NOT corrupted. I cheked it under "service user" with md5sum utility - checksum is correct.
If I try to upgrade from maintance mode (ie re-image with wipe all information in application partition) then I receive:

It has been a long time since I've seen a sensor running 4.1 or an upgrade to 5.0(1e) . If I recall correctly, there were some issues with upgrading if you were running a release from the 4.1 train earlier than 4.1(4). Additionally, the upgrade from 4.1 -> 5.0 includes a configuration conversion (due to differences between the software trains), which was prone to failure depending on the presence of certain configuration options.
Unless you absolutely need to keep the existing configuration, you would save yourself time and effort by simply re-imaging the sensor directly to the desired release. Modern (supported) releases would be either 7.0(5a)E4 or 6.2(3)E4.
Next, I'm reboot IDSM-2 module and receive:"000133: Sep 7 15:10:18.622 MSK/MDD: %HA_EM-6-LOG: Mandatory.go_bootup.tcl: GOLD EEM TCL policy for boot up diagnostic000134: Sep 7 15:10:18.290 MSK/MDD: %DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 4: Online Diagnostics detected a Major Error. I would try re-imaging the sensor once more using the IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.bin.gz System Recovery Image file found here, following the procedure described here. If the module still fails to boot after that (still citing a Diagnostic Failure), try moving it to another slot in the chassis (if possible).
What color is the IDSM-2 Status LED (on front of module) when it is in this state? An RMA may be necessary to resolve this.

  • Upgrading from windows vista to windows 7

I am upgrading from windows vista to windows 7. The upgrade I am using is going to delete all of the information I currently have on my hard drive.
I have itunes set up with all of the correct artist/album/track/cover image information for my files. I also have consolidated all of these tracks to an external hard drive - no mp3s in itunes are stored on my local hard drive. I consolidated these tracks after I edited all of the artist/album/track/cover image information.
My questions is this. Once I reinstall itunes on windows 7, when I import these tracks from the external hard drive - are the edits to the files (artist/album/track/cover image information) going to be shown in itunes like they were prior to the windows upgrade? I have a large number of tracks that I have invested a huge amount of time into and I really don't have the time or patience to duplicate the effort.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Can we activate Classic General Ledger in ECC6.0 during upgrade from 4.6C

    Dear SAP Gurus,
    Greetings
My Client's technical team had upgraded their system from 4.6C to ECC6.0 and they had activated classic GL instead of New GL. And they had also activated classic withholding tax in place of Extended Withholding tax.
They are facing some error during posting of transactions (like generation of excise invoices, posting of WHT transactions, etc.) I told that it can be a reason of not activating New GL.
Is my understanding correct...?? Can we activate classic GL during upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6.0...??
In case of a new client built (with ECC6.0), can we activate the classic GL instead of the New GL..??
Does the system will work correctly in the long run if they had activated classic GL and classic WHT...??
Please clarify. Thanks in advance for your time and efforts
    Regards,
    Chaps
P.S. Points will be awarded for answers !!

    Hi,
I think that you should read long text of OSS note 999614 carfully and you are
aware of the fact that you will have additional migration efforts in
case you need to migrate to new G/L later on.
In case you are convinced that  this is the best way please feel free
to deactivate new G/L as described in note 999614.
Please make sure that you deactivate new G/L in all clients of your
new system in case there were already client copies done.
Yes this is possible and I would not automatically assume that
error during posting of transactions are due to New GL not being activated.
Note 756146 documents the issue and possible repercussions
    of using Classic GL.
In the case of a new installation the new G/L accounting
is active by default in ERP. In principle, the use
of the classic GL is also possible for new customers, however,
SAP does not recommend it since this requires an additional
    migration expense in later years.

    Aidan

  • Advice on upgrade from Ecc 6.0 (No enhancement pack) to EHP 7

    Dear Friends
Our customer is thinking about upgrading  from  ECC 6.0 (No enhancement)  to EhP 7. Can anybody tell me what are major efforts, steps and approx. time and precautions to consider in this case.
    thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,
SAP Library for SAP ERP on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/erp. Choose a
release and then choose Application Help. In SAP Library, choose Business Functions (SAP
enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0) -> Business Functions in SAP ERP -> Enterprise
Business Functions -> Accounting -> Financial Supply Chain Management -> SAP Treasury
    and Risk Management.
    Hope this helps.

  • How  to Upgrade from SAP NetWeaver 7.01 to NW 7.02?

    Hi Experts,
I am working on GRC upgrade project,we need upgrade to GRC10.0 from GRC3.0.
GRC 10.0 only work on NW7.02,we now have NW7.01.
How  to Upgrade from SAP NetWeaver 7.01 to NW 7.02?
Use EHPI tools or just spam/saint  or any other way ?
    current version:
    SAP_ABA 701 0006 SAPKA70106
    SAP_BASIS  701 0006 SAPKB70106
    PI_BASIS 701 0006 SAPK-70106INPIBASIS

    Thanks!

    HI,
Net wevaer 7.2 CE is totally different from Net weaver 7.01.
No relation i feel.kindly check the links.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce72/helpdata/en/44/d958673ef05f4de10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
    http://help.sap.com/content/documentation/netweaver/index.htm
                      OR
You do not need Netweaver 7.2 CE for using NWBC 3.0. You just need netweaver 7.02.
You simply need to apply enhancement package 2 on your existing 7.01 system to make it 7.02.
Please refer to installation guides on service marketplace, there you can see the EHP2 installation guides.
Also, see SAP Note 900000 - Netweaver Business Client - FAQ. This will give you all the details required.

  • Upgrade from 867 Mhz to 1.33 Ghz?

Hi, is it possible to upgrade from 867 Mhz to 1.33 (or better) Ghz?
I have a Powerbook G4 I bought in June 2003. I am still running on 256MB RAM and 40G. The battery doesn't really work anymore. I'm guessing I need a new battery, more memory, etc.
I realized I need to upgrade to 1.33 Ghz because iTunes 7.0.2 will no longer play video, and apparently I need at least 1 Ghz to play video.
Should I attempt these upgrades, or should I try to trade in my Powerbook and get a newer model?
    Thanks so much,
    Lisa.

I wonder whether it would really be worth the effort. As someone else has said, the logic boards from the later versions are not the same and it is unlikely you would be able to successfully upgrade.
Having said that you might want to consider upgrading the memory and the hard drive. I have the same model as you and have 1.12GB of RAM. I don't have any problems playing video from iTunes (although the odd video will sometimes stutter). In addition there isn't really anything that important (to me) I can't run. Programs like Garageband can put a bit of a strain on the system and iDVD encoding/burning is an overnight job for a full DVD but overall this is still one very useable system. Increasing you hard disk space can only be a good thing for your system too! One benefit of hanging on is that you will save a bit of money which you can put towards a new one!
The processor upgrade mentioned here sounds interesting but I have never heard of it before so am not in the position to offer any advice on it. I am a little surprised about the battery. I use my Powerbook everyday, often using the battery and have done since I got it in Feb 2003. I still get a couple of hours out of it...

  • How to migrate Master Data (Rule set etc.) from GRC 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool"

    Greetings,
We are currently on GRC 5.3 SP 18 (Java ONLY) and migrating to GRC 10.1. I referred the Migration Guide which outlines that GRC 5.3 needs to be upgraded to SP 20 as pre-requisite for using the "Migration Tool" . Our BASIS team is reluctant to perform this upgrade from SP 18 to SP 20.
Having said thus, I'm exploring options of migrating data from 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool:.
    Rule set Migration:
I'm in the process of preparing the 9 different files (listed below) and later utilize the "Upload Rule" option for migrating the Rule set data from 5.3 to 10.1.
While I'm able to gather data for most of the files I'm not sure how can I obtain the data pertaining to the two files (Function Actions and Function Permissions) underlined and highlighted in Red below.
    1. Business Process
    2. Function
    3. Function Business Process
    4. Function Actions
    5 .Function Permissions
    6. Rule Set
    7. Risk
    8. Risk Description
    9. Risk Rule Set Relationship
    10. Risk Owner Relationship
Can someone please enlighten me and share their experience with regards to this exercise. Really appreciate your help !
    - Janantik.

I have done this successfully before.  Because you are having issues, I would NOT recommend using the migration tool to move the ruleset.  Instead:
    1. Download the ruleset files from 5.3
    2. The 5.3 tcode-permission file, which defines which tcode permissions from SU24 need to be checked during risk analysis, needs to be split into the two files you mention above in red.
FUNCTION_ACTION : this file represents S_TCODE objects and TCD fields mapped to each function (Function to Tcode relationship).  In the 5.3 file, you will filter on object S_TCODE and field TCD, and you will get a complete list that now represents "FUNCTION_ACTION".  BUT instead of having all the jumbled permission info, you will just have 3 columns: Function - Tcode - Status.
    3. The remaining permissions that are left over, after taking out the S_TCODE -TCD items, represent the "FUNCTION_PERMISSION" file in GRC 10.
    4. Manually create the excel spreadsheets for each file.
    5. Copy and past each sheet to a unique .txt file.
    6. Upload the ruleset manually through SPRO-->GRC-->Access Control-->Access Risk Analysis-->SoD Rules-->Upload SoD Rules.
    7. Select each file and then upload to the correct Logical Group.
This is a huge pain, but it works.  Let me know how this goes and if you need any assistance.

  • Upgrade of GRC 5.2 to GRC AC 5.3

    Hello,
During an upgrade of GRC AC 5.2 to GRC AC 5.3, when we uninstall GRC AC 5.2 and install GRC AC 5.3 on the same server,
1- Do we lose all existing configurations of GRC 5.2 eg. workflows, connectors, rule sets etc and will I lose existing request data?
    "OR"
Will GRC 5.2 uninstall will keep all the previous data & configurations of GRC 5.2? intact?
2- I assume rule export/ import  under utilities of rule architect from AC 5.2 to AC 5.3 will overwrite the existing ruleset?
3- I assume rule download/ upload from AC 5.2 to AC 5.3 will append the existing ruleset and will not overwrite it.
Please let me know, if my assumptions in (2) & (3) are right.
    Thanks,
    Haleem.

    Abdul,
       Here is my response:
1- Do we lose all existing configurations of GRC 5.2 eg. workflows, connectors, rule sets etc and will I lose existing request data?
    "OR"
Will GRC 5.2 uninstall will keep all the previous data & configurations of GRC 5.2? intact?
Everything will stay the way it is. You won't lose any data after the upgrade as the uninstallation does not allow you to remove data from the database.
2- I assume rule export/ import under utilities of rule architect from AC 5.2 to AC 5.3 will overwrite the existing ruleset?
That is correct. If you import new ruleset it will fully overwrite existing ruleset.
3- I assume rule download/ upload from AC 5.2 to AC 5.3 will append the existing ruleset and will not overwrite it.
There is not role download utility. You can upload fresh rules by uploading different different files via configuration -> rule upload.
Please let me know, if my assumptions in (2) & (3) are right.
