EH&S Work Area Versioning

Hi All,
    Is there anybody who can explain me, what's the procedure to assign a version to a work area? I mean that this link

is not enough because I can't understand (sorry but It's my first time on SAP) what is "change number" and how to define it.

Hello Mark,
Change number u2013 under Engineering Change Management for substances, the change number has high priority. This function enables you to carry out data changes for a particular key date using a change number. Each change number is valid from a particular validity date so that the data have a validity period in accordance with change number. When we change existing data, the product safety creates a change comment that contains the person responsible for the change, and the change date. If any changes are made without using change number, the standard validity period will be assigned by the system, which may have long span of time and likely to interrupt the assignment at later stages. Chnage number shall be created from ECM screen.
Work area u2013 versioning: Version numbers are assigned to work area to determine if any changes are made to work area that is relevant or not to its predecessor. Every change made to a work area that has been checked into the master repository results in a new version of the object. Once a work area version has been checked in, it cannot be changed. Versioning is also important in the context of reusability. You can decide what version of a work area should be referenced in a given context and it can be ensured that the version referenced cannot be changed by the author. As seen from link, and also the work areas are central reference object for the processes. As the central references are key objects, it must be tagged with version number so as to identify the data of information, latest updates, author, information provider & so on. By using version number, it is easy to know the changes in the information available in the work area. Under work area, much flexibility is taken by defining processes, installations, person groups or tasks, specific versioning for the work area ensures to know the changes incorporated and generation of updated versioning. This enables for planning and visualization of sequences by using the latest versioned work area. Versioning of work area provides to flexibility of using the reference information on the objects for the processes in IH&S.

I don't know why all of the sudden i have a stream problem with firefox, yesterday, i tried on IE which i never use and had no problem with it. i will try to do more trouble shooting and see, its really frustrating, if can't figure out, i guess will have to revert back to IE which i really don't want to do, but---oh well. thx for help.

    OK - to answer my own question, Apple recommend 8.2.1, but you can install 9.1.1 and it will run on a G3. Very slowly. Looks like this is the only option. Get it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1036. You need OSX 10.4.11 or later though....

  • Issue in 7.3 - The Work area is not long enough

    Hello All,
    currently i am facing issue in my new BI 7.3 server when i try to execute planning sequence, i am getting the below error:
    We have recently moved from 7.0 to 7.3 version very recently and when i try to execute the planning seq it raises above shown error but we have the same code in the BI 7.0 and nevere faced any issue while execution of Planning Sequence and we din't even changed the code.
    we are using this Work area <WA_STATUS> in Customer exit and also in the Program.
    It will be so helpfull if you let know why it is raising error and also wanted to check have any one faced simmilar issue in 7.3.

    We have solved the issue.
    the issue is really due to after 7.3 Upgradation the RSPC_MONITOR had two more new feilds added
    1) UNAME & 2) CHECK_TIME
    and this fields doesn't exist in the 7.0 Version so due to this inconsistancy the Structure was failing.
    so we have included two new Fields in the structure in the program and in the Customer Exit and working fine now.

  • How do you reset the Work Area Bar to auto adjust?

    This is something that's been a thorn in my side for a while. Maybe I'm just being OCD about it... but I've been wondering if there is a way, once you reposition the I / O points of the Work Area Bar (WAB) you can get Pr to go back to auto adjusting it to the end of your clip.
    You can double-click it to get it to expand to the full length of the sequence, if you remember to do that... Sometimes I'm in a rush, or I have 10 sequences and I miss the fact that my WAB is not all the way to the end. I select and batch drag them all to Media Encoder and *POW*... I've forgotten to stretch the Out to end on one sequence ... and I have to re-render. A pain, yes, something I should have double checked, but at 2am these things can get missed.
    So, can you get the Work Area Bar to auto adjust again?
    If yes, it's probably something ridiculously obvious – but I'll take it!

    I would have an issue with auto or a default  for a number of reasons.
    Not least this one...
    I now place dummy clip ( black video)  a  distance off the end of my sequence to prevent the End of Sequence Marker displaying at the end of my edited material.  I dont want that included in an export.
    Here is another...
    As I get to lock down and I am sending previews to clients...I insert Black Video head and tail of the edit so that the preview does not start  jarringly on first frame video.  I have I and Os marked so that I can simply  export "Program at length (without black head and tail) when I  come to master.

    Often I have edit versions (TVCs) on the same time line ( sequence) and I need to adjust WAB or I/Os to export them separately.
    Automating stuff to eliminate our dumb moments doesnt help much because it just opens the chance of another dumb moment driven by expectation and forgetfulness. .
    Mental checklist is the only way IMHO.

    in 4.7 version, directly trying to print the work area and assign to some other fields.

    text = mara.
    but in 6.0, its not allowing to assign directly like this.

    basically the problem might be in the ecc 6.0 for the attributes of the program where u r writing it might be u checked the unicode check box if it so remove it and then try or else it is proiblem with the unicode in the ecc 6.0 system where u r working

  • Work area colours different to exported colours?

    I have a wierd problem. When working within photoshop i can choose colours that i want but they show up a bit lighter on the screen in the work area, and when i click to export or save as the colours are shown a little darker and more saturated.
    The colours on the export are actually the right shade, so they must be showing wrong within photoshop while i work on a document. I've never had this propblem in any other version of photoshop, only CS5 and i'm wondering if there is some setting or somehting i can change to have the colours be the same on export and while i'm working on the document, because it's very frustrating when the colours i picked turn out to be different when i save an image.
    Could someone please help me?

    It sounds as though the problems you are describing are rooted within the fact that Photoshop is a color managed application, and (depending on settings) will respond to the color profile of the image and the color profile of your monitor.  To achieve the behavior you want (things not appearing unexpectedly different) we kind of need more info...
    What are your Color preferences (Edit - Color Settings...).
    What color profile(s) accompany the images you edit (i.e., where do you get them, how do you open them).
    What operating system are you running?
    What video interface (make/model/drivers) are you using?
    Have you calibrated your monitor?
    What are your goals (e.g., see the same thing on the monitor as Internet Explorer, or another app)?
    Take heart:  Photoshop can be set up to deliver consistent, expected results per your goals, and it will help to understand why you're seeing what you're seeing.

    You can't write out an internal table - you can only write out a line (or components of a line) of an internal table.  So you MUST use a work area.  If you use OCCURS 0 then you've a table with a headerline, and so don't need a workarea.  However, later versions of ABAP discourage tables with headerline, and it is preferred to define a specific work area.  So, either:
    data: BEGIN OF it_summ OCCURS 0.
    INCLUDE STRUCTURE yapn_summary.
    data: END OF it_summ.
    clear it_summ.
    it_summ-sumr = 'hai'.
    append wa_Demo1 to it_summ.
    LOOP AT it_summ.
      WRITE: it_summ-sumr.
    ENDLOOP.
    Now, you see here that at some points it_summ refers to the table, and at others to the header-line.  This is ambiguous, and therefore BAD.  It's better to define the table and work area seperately.
    data: it_summ TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF yapn_summary WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY table_line.
    data : wa_demo1 type yapn_summary.

    In ECC versions we all know that we need to declare the internal tables without headerline, and for handling the internal tables we need to use exclusive work areas.
    Currently i have an issue that we have been asked to use field symbols instead of work areas...can any one help me how to use the field symbols and also let me know how it will improve the performance of the program..

    Now the problem is you can't know the name of the fields of the table at runtime, so you can't write:
    IF <WA>-FIELD = .....
    ENDIF.
    Anyway you can create a field-symbols strcturated like the table:
    [code]FIELD-SYMBOLS <WA> TYPE ITAB.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
      IF <WA>-FIELD = .....
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    I don't know which are the differences for the performance between to use a field-symbol and to use a structure as work-area.
    The differnce between the field-symbols and work-area is the field-symbol is assigned directly to the record, so u don't need to do a MODIFY statament to change something:
    LOOP AT ITAB INTO WA.
      WA-FIELD =
      MODIFY ITAB FROM WA.
    ENDLOOP.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
      <WA>-FIELD =
    ENDLOOP.
    These two pieces of abap code do the same action, so probably the field-symbol improve the performance because it do an access directly to the record without to use an external structure as workarea.

  • Render Work Area only partially completes?

    Hello everyone,
    I have searched the Forum but not found an answer or discussion on this problem.
    My problem is that Render Work Area only partially completes, i.e. if I have several clips in the work area (all showing yellow in the status area) and I apply transitions or effects to several of them, such that the modified segments show red in the status area, I expect to be able to Render Work Area [ENTER] and have it render all the segments that are red.  But it doesn't.  It renders the first few red segments then stops.  I have to manually hit ENTER several times to get it to render all the pieces.
    I'm pretty sure this is not how it is supposed to work.  In previous versions of Premiere, it would render all red segments in one go.
    Does anyone know what I need to do to make it render everything in one pass?

    But no solution was ever reported.  The person just re-installed on a new machine and the problem did not appear on the new machine.  But I don't have another machine to try this on.  My machine is a Windows 7 64-bit i7.  I am running Premiere Pro CS5 5.0.0.  My footage is from a Canon 5D Mark II, 1080p, 29.97fps.  The footage natively displays and previews fine.

    You should install the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) update. The recent updates fix a lot of problems.

  • Adding container headstart to 'GLOBAL WORK AREA'

    I am trying to install HEADSTART 10G r2 for designer 10.2 into Designer. I got everything working the demo, utilities and the designer forms templates.
    Finally I want to imported the headstart 10G R2 Dump file (versioned) into designer. The import did not work first because we needed to use IMP 10.2 but designer uses IMP 10.1. But that problem is solved.
    At the moment I have a container with headstart 6.5.4.0a which I want to include (with Edit Workarea of Include Workarea) into the WA 'GLOBAL WORK AREA'. But that failes with the error message
    - CDR-01006: Failed to process rule specification.
    - CDR-01059: Rule INCLUDE_FOLDER has an invalid path (headstart=Application
    - CDR-01000: Unable to locate object with path headstart=Application System.
    I did everything mentioned in the document 'installation instructuctions for oracle Headstart 6.5.4.0 for 10g R2'.
    please can anybody give me a clue what I can do to include this container in the WA.

    To add to the above, I've been using WSBR_API.ADD_ITEM(p_text, ...), and when I check out the WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS it would seem as though the text field is a CLOB. This would lead me to think that my error is caused by me trying to push a CLOB through a VARCHAR2.
    What's the standard way, using the API, of adding an item that is a CLOB?

  • Error Creating Work Area in JDeveloper for SCM

    In the Repository Object Navigator for 9i SCM, my userID has been granted the the following permissions to a shared work area called pdshare by the owner/build manager:
    Select
    Administrate
    Insert
    Update
    Delete
    Version
    Compile
    Update Spec.
    However, in JDeveloper 9.0.3.1 When I create a work area from this shared work area I keep getting this error:
    "BHART has insufficient privledges to Manage WorkArea".
    Does anyone have suggestions for how to resolve this so that I can access the shared work area?

    It's actually simple if yyou use dynamic tables and field symbols.
    In the program that calls  methods / attributes in the class
    define some field symbols
    for example
    FIELD-SYMBOLS :
      <fs1>           TYPE  ANY,
      <fs2>           TYPE  STANDARD TABLE,
      <field_catalog> TYPE STANDARD TABLE,
      <dyn_table>    TYPE  STANDARD TABLE,
      <orig_table>   TYPE  STANDARD TABLE,
      <dyn_field>,
      <dyn_wa>.
    in the class define data
    DATA:
    dy_table         TYPE REF TO data,
        dy_line          TYPE REF TO data,
    etc.
    field symbols work both INSIDE and OUTSIDE classes and are extremely useful for passing / receiving data. You have to define the field symbols in your main program however.
    METHOD create_dynamic_table.
    CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
        EXPORTING
             it_fieldcatalog = it_fldcat
          IMPORTING
             ep_table = dy_table.
    ENDMETHOD.
    CALL METHOD me->create_dynamic_table
        EXPORTING
          it_fldcat = it_fldcat
        IMPORTING
          dy_table        = dy_table.
         ASSIGN dy_table->* TO <dyn_table>.
    CREATE DATA dy_line LIKE LINE OF <dyn_table>.
    ASSIGN dy_line->* TO <dyn_wa>.
    ENDMETHOD.
    Then in your program (or class)  your data is in <dyn_table>.
    Use dynamic tables and dynamic field cats as these give HUGE flexibility and you can re-use code over and over again for different structures.
    The new RTTI  gives you any table structure whatsoever so you can make the whole thing completely general.
    That's one of the advantages of Classes and OO as opposed to older FMODS.

    It is not a problem if there are different versions between your Development, Test & Production. The versions do NOT have to be aligned...and should not be really.
    The way transportation of workflows operates is as folows:
    - Create or make a change to a workflow in your development system and transport it to Test.
    - If the workflow already exists in Test and it has running instances then a new version of the workflow is created automatically in Test. This is done so that the existing instances (work items)  can use the old version and new instances created after the transport can use the new version. If the workflow already exists but had no existing instances (In Test) then it would simply be overwritten with the new transport.
    - The same applies when you transport from Test to Production.
    You do NOT need to have versions synchronized between systems.

    The help mention something about a WorkArea privilege that I am not sure the Repsitory Owner has:

    You need to enable Versioning. Do this by starting the Repository Administration Utility (RAU) as the repository owner. Select Options --> Enable Version Support.
    Once enabled, you cannot disable version support but you will be able to manage Work Areas.
