Elements 11- printer presets non changeable with mac OS X

My mac is OS x 10.7.5, my printer is Epson Stylus Photo 1400. When I go to print from Elements 11, I get only 3 settings and I can't bring up the Epson printer settings dialogue that allows me to set standard, photo, , paper settings as in Matt, Semi gloss etc. I only get 1. Select printer 2. select paper size, and 3. select print size.  In "Preview" The dialog box comes up with all the options-I get 1-5 which includes also step 2 is a "printer settings" which includes a change settings and brings up an advanced settings box, so I can change the print settings. I've tried to change the Elements presets, but there doesn't appear to be a way!  What is going on?

Hi,
Selecting "Allow Adobe to install updates" option enables your system to download and install updates automatically. This recommended option provides the best protection for your system as the update happens backend and you are always on with the latest version. Hope the above info helps.

  • Hp photosmart 7150 only prints black and white with mac

My hp photosmart 7150 only prints black and white with mac.  I have tried installing and uninstalling, installing drivers, but no change.

    Hi,
You did not mentioned your Mac OS X version, however I assume you have one of the latest versions.
The Photosmart 7150 is not supported on Mac OS X v10.6, v10.7, v10.8 or v10.9 and therefore it is more than likely that there are no drivers for your OS and the used Generic Driver only provide B&W printing.
Although it is not officially supported you may check 3rd party solutions such as the 3rd party HP-IJS print drivers which list your printer as supported.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads, then click the plus sign under Printers & Scanners, click the Use drop down and click on Select Printer Software.
Search for your printer model form the list and select the driver, I believe that may work:
    http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs
Although it only list up to 10.8 (Mountain Lion) it should also work on Mavericks from my experience.
    Hope that may help,

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • Photosmart C6280 not printing color/both sides with Mac

    Hello HP Community,
I have a Macbook Pro running iOS X 10.9.2 and a AIO Photosmart C6280. I am have downloaded the printing/scanning software and drivers. Everything installed without problem. I have also scanned with no problem. However, no matter what program I am trying to print from on my Macbook, the printer will not print in color and also will not print on both sides - even when the double sided feature is checked off.
I have been to all the discussion forums of relevance and can't find anyone with my same problem. Those that have similar problems, are running different versions of iOS and the steps suggested they take are not possible with this version. Please Help!

    Hello HP_USER,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're unable to print in color from you Mac 10.9.2. I will try to help you with this.
Have you tried making a color copy from the printer? If not please do so, this is to see if the printer is having the issue stand alone.
I would also recommend looking at these documents:
    Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors
    Wrong Colors
As for it not duplexing, according to the User's Guide, this printer doesn't duplex as in it doesn't have a duplexer. If you are manual duplexing that would be slightly different, as it requires you to be flipping the page after the first side has come out. This document can assist you with that: Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Manual Duplexing)
I hope this helps you out, thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • HP C5380 DVD/CD Printing Feature Not Compatible With Mac

I purchased this all-in-one specifically for the feature of printing direct to cd/dvds. Other functions work fine but this will not. After contacting HP Support I am informed that this feature is not compatible with Mac. Surely this is false advertising as nowhere on the packaging can I find any reference to this. Under specifications it shows that system requirements were Mac OSX 10.5.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? I have searched mac support but can find no reference to this. Interested to hear other viewpoints and experiences.

    Hello,
I would try printing directly on CD/DVD from the application HP Photosmart Studio.. Follow the steps below:
    1. Open HP Photosmart Studio
    2. Select an image from the Photosmart Studio library/browser
    3. Choose "Create" in the toolbar
    4. In the menu on the left, choose the following settings:
    - Project: CD/DVD Label
    - Label Type: CD/DVD (5 inch/120 mm)
    5. Move the image from the media bar to the label, resize it if necessary
    6. Click "Print" on the toolbar

  • Drivers for HP printer 5L compatabile with MAC OS 10 system

Does any one knows if Drivers for 5L HP printer compatable with MAC OS 10 ssytem are available? We have drivers for MAC OS 9 system but these do not work with MAC OS 10 system? Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
Although it is not clear which OS X version you refer to, the Laserjet 5L is not supported on Mac OS X 10.8:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?&objectID=c03411613
The same also apply for OS X 10.7 and 10.6 as well:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=...
If you have any of the operating systems mentioned above, although it is not officially supported you may still try the 3rd party HPIJS drivers which compatiblw with any of those latest OS versions and list the Laserjet 5L as supported.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads prior following the Printer Set Up Instructions below:

    Best of luck,

  • Can anyone recommend a solid, cheap mono laser printer that will work with Mac OS X?

I'm currently looking for a cheap, no-frills printer. So far, most are incompatible with Mac OS X or are too expensive to buy and run.
    Does anybody have any recommendations?
    Thanks!

I've been interested in this for some time and it all seems rather difficult. I had a Samsung ML-1610 mono laser before I bought my iMac three years ago. It worked fine with a Windows 98 laptop and was cheap and I think a bit of an out of date model then. When I bought the Mac one thing that worried me was - would the printer work? Discovered ML-1610 is not Mac compatible at all (officially). Searching for some time found various suggestions to make it work. The simplest was to download driver for ML-1710 and yes it DID work and still does. I even bought a replacement toner cartridge. Samsung mono laser printers are very good value but seem to be NOT very Mac friendly, even the models that are Mac compatible. It is too risky to get involved with models that are not on the Mac drivers list. Also not too happy about models that have Gutenprint or CUPS drivers. Yes, I believe Brother is quite Mac friendly, don't know how cheap. Mac showrooms don't have cheap mono laser printers, the style just isn't right, but they are great. I would never go back to an inkjet.

  • Wireless print server that works with Macs and Epson R1800?

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a wireless print server, which I could use as if the printer was connected directly to my Mac. So basically, it just needs to have printing over IP port (like port 9100 on HP JetDirect) and drivers for Mac OS X (or ideally, no special drivers needed at all). Devices that do sharing of the printer only over LPD (older Unix), SMB (Windows), IPP (Cups / newer Unix) or similar protocols is not what I'm looking for here.
The reason why LPD, SMB and IPP are not an option is that I'll need utilities such as Epson Printer Utility to work over the network too.
It looks like Linksys, Belkin and some other have products that allow access to the printer over port 9100 (standard HP JetDiret's port) as if the printer was connected directly to the computer. However, for the most part I was able to find only success stories for Windows users.
Windows has standard driver that allows connection to the printer to be easily switched from USB port to network port. Does OS X comes standard with that feature, or is the special driver needed?
Most importantly, has anybody had success with printing from Mac through wireless print server (any brand) to Epson R1800? Did the Epson Print Utility (checking the ink levels, checking and cleaning the head, etc) work? Any special drivers needed?
    Thanks

direwolf has hit the nail on the head - the Epson driver won't work for IP printing. The Epson driver is a Carbon driver, where they build the comm protocols into the driver instead of enabling use of the standard protocols on OS X (that are part of the CUPS system). You'll need a CUPS driver to use the standard network protocol(s). The printfab driver is a CUPS driver.
Exception - the Apple Extreme/Express/etc print servers have firmware that make them work like Macs - Mac-to-Mac sharing works with USB-only drivers! I hesitate to recommend the Extreme/Express, because Apple can't seem to get all the kinks out.

  • HP C7200 printer/scanner not working with Mac after new router installed.

I recently had my DSL modem go out and replaced it with a combo modem/wifi router. Since the install, my mac can't detect my printer. If I install it via the printer's IP, it'll detect ink levels for a day or two, but still won't print, and won't even detect the scanner. It says the printer is off-line when I try to print. I've rebooted everything, reset the printing system, downloaded updates, and downloaded the latest HP software. Nothing helps. So much for "just works".
My little Windows 7 computer was totally trouble-free after I reinstalled the printer.

If the printer does support Bonjour and it does not appear in the Default Add Printer view then I would say that the Mac is set to a different subnet to the printer (and the Win7 PC). This could also explain why you can add the printer via IP but it won't print.
If the Mac is definitely on the same IP subnet as the printer then check you don't have an application running that could block Bonjour.
With regards to IP queues, ensure you select HP Jetdirect rather than the default of IPP (Win7 will be using Jetdirect which is known as Port 9100). Also, some drivers cannot be used with network connections. If the printer supports Postscript then try a Generic Postscript printer to test. If it doesn't support PS but supports PCL then there is a Generic PCL Laser driver you would try.

  • Can someone recommend a good multi-function scanner/printer/copier that works with Mac OS 10.6.8?

I've just purchased a Canon Image Class MF4570dn. Very disappointed to find that whatever I do I cannot get the scanner to work & the Apple support board is of no help.
It seems like there is a conflict with OS 10.6.8 that does not let the scanner get recognized by any scanning software -- either the Mac native software in Preview or the Canon software included on CD with the box & via download from Canon's site. The Canon software is called "MF Toolbox" but for the life of me I can't get it to start without instantly crashing!
Any suggestions of set-ups that are working with you on a similar system set-up would be much appreciated!

This is  discouraging! I ended up trying Canon because my Macbook Pro suddenly stopped recognizing my previous HP scanner -- a MF inkjet printer.
I have been looking at HP multi-function lasers in lieu of this faulty Canon I just returned.
I intend to be doing very simple things with whatever MF unti I end upw ith -- no printing or scanning over the network. I'm happy to connect it directly to my computer via USB. So I'm not sure I'd experience the problems you are having.
Maybe I should go w/ one of these Brother units? Is there anyone on this board that can attest to these machines working with MacBook Pros?

  • Printing/creating PDF problems with Mac OS 10.6.4 and word v.X

In my job at university I use Word 2003 (version 10) in my new iMac. Since I updated to MacOS 10.6.4 I have problems with the printing menu. That means that I can not print or convert to PDF or even generate a preview. When trying to print or obtain a preview, word freezes and I have to force quit. When trying to generate a pdf file it does, but the generated file is unreadable (it says is damaged) and word freezes again. I have played with the preferences, change user and it didn't help. I checked the Font Book and indeed they were many duplicated fonts. I sorted them out, but the problem persists. With very short files it works, but with longer ones word invariably crashes when trying to print or make a pdf. I took one long .doc file and I copied into my laptop (MacBook pro, 2008) that was running 10.6.3. I printed it and converted to pdf; no problems at all. Then, for the sake of knowledge, I updated the system to 10.4.6 and then I couldn't print or create a pdf with the very same file, so it seems that certainly the update is reponsible. So now I know cause but I can not print from any of my computers. To me convert to pdf is an important functionality so I would appreciate any help. I have some ideas: reinstall Office 2003? reinstall 10.6 from the disk (and not update)? use Time Machine to restore the system as it was before the update?
I didn't detect problems in Office 2004, or any other programs in my macs. Unfortunately, I need Office 2003 for compatibility with some other software. Thanks in advance!

I updated my MBP to 10.6.4 last night and today I was printing fine from Word 2008 (v12.2.5). I haven't used Office vX since Tiger so I cannot comment on its stability with the latest update. But I suggest that if you haven't done so already, try opening Disk Utility and running Repair Disk Permissions on the 10.6.4 partition. Once this has completed I also suggest that you reset the printing system, restart your Mac and then add your printer queues again.
*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac

  • Considering replacing G5 PowerMac(non-intel) with Mac Mini.

I have a G5 PowerMac running Tiger.  The machine is ~6 years old.  I want to replace, but no longer need the Pro Apps (Final Cut Pro, Vectorworks) that I was running before.  Also want to shrink footprint in the office, so I am considering a Mac Mini to connect to Internet service with a NAS device for agnostic file storage, and a wireless home network.  I will be using windows laptop wirelessly.
I have two computer-using kids now and would put them at the Mac-mini for homework, an iPad or laptop each for me and my wife for work/life purposes.
We have loads of digital content: movies, photos, etc. and need storage volume.  I'll be consolidating over 6 external drives to the NAS
Anyway, what do I give up when I move from PowerMac to MacMini in terms of Ports, Bus, etc.
Also, I spent a little time over at the AppleTV forum and am intrigued...
I haven't yet pursued a solution at an Apple Store, because the sales people I've dealt with lately have been more about sales than about solutions.

    Thanks for the thoughts, John.
Our household now has two young computer users and so demand for mouse-time is high.  I think the new environment will be a Mini - NAS - WiFi - Printer base camp.
What's the tipping point between getting an iPad2 and MacBook (Pro or Air) given that there's a perfectly fine desktop system elsewhere in the house?   The computing power is not the guiding factor it's mobility and app choice.   I think it all boils down to: how easy is it to type on an iPad?
I need to spend an hour or two at the Apple Store playing with all the gadgets, but I'd like to hear some user comments too.

  • Which printer brands work best with Mac?

Well, it sounds like my HP LaserJet 3015 will not duplex with my new Mac (only with PCs, I guess), so I am going to need a new printer. Does anyone have suggestions on which brands of printers work well with the Mac? Thanks in advance...

There are a number of Laserjet 3015 models. Some have automatic duplexing and others do not. If it has duplexing, it should do it whether it is on a Mac or a PC. Make sure you have duplexing and the proper driver for your printer. If you are using a Gutenprint driver instead of the HP driver, you may not have duplexing available. If you click on Options & Supplies in Print & Fax, you will be able to see which driver you are using.

  • Printing on MF 8450 with MAC OSX 10.6.7

    Hello,
I started to have problem with Canon MF 8450.
I upgraded my OSX from 10.5.8 to 10.6.7.
Yesterday, it wrote that I have to install driver through "Software update," but there was no update for this printer.
Lately the printer wrote: "*Network host is busy printing to 192.168.1.20. Retry in 5.....10....15secs*"
I searched for any answers on Apple support communities and found that on Canon Australia there is newer update and I installed it.
Now, when I start printing, Print queue shows me the document and then it shows that the job is completed but the printer prints nothing.
    Please, what to do?
Thank you very much for any answer!
