Elements 13 scanning slides with Epson 4990

I can scan my slides with Elements 9 but not with Elements 13 - any suggestions?

If you have a 64 bit windows system you will need to use WIA. In 32 bit win or the mac version, you need to install the TWAIN plugin:
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/twain-installed-photoshop-elements-11.html
The file paths are the same in PSE 13; just substitute 13 where it says 11.

  • Elements 9 printing problems with epson 3880

    HI All:
Elements was working fine with epson 3880.
    Problems developed:
    1. Would print color pics in black and white only while in Editor; color pics printed ok in Organizer
    2. Now Print Preview does not work in either Editor or Organizer
    3. Now cannot print in either Editor or Organizer
I purchased Elements online.  I do not have a CD for reinstall.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I am having a similar problem that seems the reverse of yours in a way, though it may be related. Mine occurred only with the disk-installed version, not the downloaded trial version, and it was present from the start on my iMac. Everything worked fine with the 3880 and 2400 printing from the trial version of PSE9 (downloaded), just as it had with PSE8. CS5 and Apple Aperture are also installed and had been working normally. Then I received the install disk for PSE9 and installed it. After that, Preview did not produce a preview, PDF did not produce a PDF, and Print did not produce a print. CS5 also would not preview or print after that. Aperture, however, was unaffected. Some experimentation revealed that the problem occurred only with "Photoshop Elements Manages Color" selected and printer color management turned off. With "Printer Manages Color" selected, it printed.
I uninstalled both CS5 and PSE9 and reinstalled 8, which once again worked properly. Hoping there had been an install error as the cause of the problem with the original installation of 9, I then uninstalled 8 and reinstalled 9, and the problem recurred. So it's back to PSE8, and try to figure out how to call the problem to Adobe's attention without paying for a tech support session. Interesting that a glitch that causes a problem with PSE's printing can also affect PS's printing.
I suspect your problem is related to mine. Do you use a Mac? I think the reason the problem didn't occur at first with my system is that the trial installation is not the same as the paid one, if only because the trial version doesn't have the user sign up with Photoshop.com or whatever it is, which I had never done until I installed 9 from the disk. So it seems that something in the full, purchased version is causing the glitch. I have no idea why your version should have worked at first, then crumped.
Two more things I'm going to do now: reinstall CS5 on the iMac (should be OK, as it was before I got 9), and install 9 on my laptop to see what happens.
My advice for now is to download the trial version of 9, uninstall the current installation of 9, install the downloaded trial version, and (without entering the serial # from your downloaded version) see if it works properly. Then contact tech support. Especially if you have a Mac, tell them you have heard from others who have related the same problem to you.

  • Scanning wirelessly with Epson printer and OS 10.6.4

Cannot scan wirelessly with Epson NX515 and 10.6.4. Will print, but not scan. Will only scan with ethernet connection and using Image Capture app.
Error message indicates No Connection. But there is a connection because I can print wirelessly.
    Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Ella.
Epson Support indicate that you must install Apple's Rosetta software - available from the installation disk for SL. In addition they indicate a communication problem which they are working on but I don't know how old this message is, ie how well they keep their website updated, nor do I know whether this affects wireless communication for scanning.
Epson also indicate that some of their supplied software comes from other companies and you might need to download updates from those companies directly. This might apply to the scanning software or a component of it. They do give web links for this.
I don't know how compatible this model is with wireless scanning but there is a note about making sure that the wireless settings allow the a/b settings as it's not able to operate through the n setting. I imagine that the settings are usually set for compatibility.
You should use Software Update to ensure you have the latest Epson software.
Note that scanning seems to put greater demands on the network than printing.

  • Scan problems with Epson XP-800

Just switched to Mountain Lion and now cannot scan with Epson XP-800. Just get empty files. Installed Epson new drivers, but no help. Printing is fine. Any ideas?
MacBook Pro 2,5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (early 2008)
    4 GB RAM
    OS X 10.8.

Eric - First, thank you for such a quick response!
Yes I've tried your suggestions already.  When I open Image Capture it reads "No Camera or Scanner Selected".  There is no way to load a scanner.  :\
When I open System Preferences/Print&Scan, click on the Epson, click on Scan, click on Open Scanner... the little scan "icon" in the upper right hand corner isn't lit up.
In Preview, when I click on "Import from Epson XP-800 Series", the screen is blank.  Eventually an error reads "An error occurred while communication with scanner.
Nor can I scan from the Epson into my Mac.
I'm not the only one.  I found one other person online with the same problem.  My sister and I also have the same printer and she's the one who alerted me of the problem.  When I tried to fix her printer... I couldn't do.  So I checked mine... same problem as her's.
This problem started after one of the last 2 upgrades, because we were scanning not that long ago.
As for the link you provided... been there, done that.  I already uploaded their most recent driver... and nothing changed.
Please help we are dead in the water on some work projects!!!
    With sincere appreciation,
    Celeste

  • Pictures print dark from Elements 12 on imac27 with Epson R1900

Both my colleague and I cannot print pictures matching screen brightness. I have Elements 12 with new iMac 27 and Epson R1900. He has new PC and Lightroom with Epson R1900 printer.
    Message was edited by: Powellpics

This is a common problem when the monitor is set too bright. Hardware needs to be calibrated with tools such as X-rite ColorMunki or Spyder Elite. You can then match your monitor to your print profile (combination of printer, paper and ink) to ensure consistent results.

  • Scanning Slides with G4010

I have started to use the Scanjet (G4010) to scan my slide collection and I am finding the images produced are not as clear as they should be.  Turing the slides upside-down in the holder improves things a bit and scanning them flat on the glass does even better but because the slide mount holds the film off the glass they are still not quite right although acceptable.  Scaning flat on the glass (not in the holder) defeates the purpose of the scanner and will take far too long.  Increasing the scanning resolution (from 300 to 1200) does not help as this is clearly an optical problem.
Is there any facility (through the driver) to adjust the focus position so that the best results for slides in the holder can be achieved?

Hi @KA45 , and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into adjusting the focal position of the scanner.  That is not a feature that is available in the software.
For further information, I would recommend utilizing the HP Scanjet G4010 Photo Scanner User guides, as well as these documents on Scanner Options.
For further information, I would recommend contacting HP directly. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

  • Scan slides on Canoscan 8800F/Mac OS 10.8.5

I am not a techie and would like advice on scanning slides with Canoscan 8800F, Mac OS10.8.5. I have been told this can be done in Preview but there doesn't seem to be a slide option and the slide shows up as opaque black, likewise don't see any slide option in Image Capture. Have downloaded MP Navigator EX but get list of supported models which does not include 8800F and need to install correspondent MP Navigator or MP Navigator EX and driver/scanner driver which supports my product model (have already downloaded driver which is supposedly correct). I'm very confused, will probably go for Vuescan option, but welcome any advice. (And why isn't there a scanner section in this forum?)

  • Difficulty scanning slides on my Epson V600  running Lion, Adobe Photoshop CS6,  and can no longer use the Epson scan application or the plug in for Photoshop. Should I revert back to leopard in my time machine to finish scanning my family slides?

I am running Lion 10.7.5, Adobe Photoshop CS6, scanning slides on my Epson V600 and can no longer use the scan application or the plug in for Photoshop. Should I revert back to leopard in my time machine to finish scanning my family slides?
In 10.7 there is not a twain that works with Photoshop for importing with all the options needed to scan transparencies. I noticed that when I was scanning in October 2012 I was still using CS6 so somehow I was managing to be able to use all the scan features.
They sell 2nd party software (VieScan and Silverscript)which I found to be just mimially OK and very hard to use.
I just want to scan like I used to.
Can I use time machine to go back to an earlier operating sysytem LEOPARD,  and then do my scans and then save the photos and them go back to the LION system?
I spent 7 hours trying crazy solutions - downloading Windows CS2 Photoshop and then using a program so I could run it on the apple. Then I couldn't figure out how to put a plug in for the scanner in the stupid windows Photoshop program. Googgling the computer like a mad woman trying to ask questions. I am not giving up...
    Please help if you can...
    Thanks...

I assume you've tried using Image Capture. Give VueScan a try.

  • How do scan strip negatives via my Epson 4990 scanner using Image Capture since upgrade to OS X Mavericks

Hello Everyone. OK I upgraded to OS X Mavericks without thinking that by doing this would stop me using my Epson 4990 scanner as no driver / software currently available - OK my fault. Anyway as Epson have not yet provided an update (yet?), all advice being recieved is use "Image Capture" for the time being. I have tried this along with using the "Help" files but unfortunately dont seem to be be any assistance. In simples terms I just wish to scan film negative strips (and transparencies) but it dont seem to be possible. Could any member advised how to get solve this problem as I am in the middle of a major scanning exercise with the worst case senario that I wil have to revert to my Windows based laptop to carry on and temporary reduntant my iMac which defeats the point of the exercise. Thank you in advance (hopefully)

Replay I received from Epson today:-
"In response to your email, we unfortunately do not have any update available for your model at present. We have no confirmed date for this but as far as we are aware this is likely to be in the next two weeks"

Also, how to find that tutorial?

  • Premiere Elements 12.1 and Scanned Slides

I have 370 JPEG scanned slides that I want to make into a video.  Each slide will run for 5 seconds for a total of 30 minutes.  I have a Dell desktop with 8 gigabytes of RAM and a 7200 speed hard drive. The computer has an Intel 1.5 processor.  Can Premiere Elements handle this amount of slides?

    Michael Stehly
Yes, on handle that number of slides, but......
What are the pixel dimensions of these 370 JPEG scanned slides and what is the destination for them?
If you are using Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, you can get away with higher pixel dimensions that would be indicated by
the classical recommendations that you may see for "not to exceed 1000 x 750" et al.
The answer goes to computer resources, pixel dimensions of the photos, and the number of photos. No matter how high the resolution of the photos, the export will be forced to the specifications of the export format selected. You need to define your fine line between letting the program do the resizing and that process slowing down or stopping that process.
