Elements 5.0 Demo Question

I downloaded 5.0 yesterday. What I want to know, and can not find any info on, is when does the 30 day trial period start. When I download the file, or when I install the program?

  • Adobe premiere elements 10 trial watermark question

    Hi there,
I just had a question regarding the water mark in premiere elements 10. I know the watermark stays until I buy the full version. But if I was to find a full version on another computer. Can I take the file to the other computer to remove the water from it?
I did some work on it and I don't want to go to waste. I have a friend that has elements 7 I believe. It would be great if I can just save the file and open it there for the watermark to disappear. I just wanted to ask if that would work.
    Thanks!

When you do go to a "full-paid" version of PrE, on another computer, this FAQ Entry might prove useful.
    Good luck,

  • Crystal Reports Web Elements - database write back question

    Hi,
I have a question about Web Elements. In description of them on SAP site it says they can provide "write-backs to the database". This is something I would really like to see. I have a scenario:
User sees a long report and sometimes she needs to add a quick note that should be saved into the database. That note can be entered into WETextArea I suppose and WESubmit button click can be an event  trigger for such a write back.
I would like to see example of such functionality on Crystal Report rpt file.
Please advise if anybody knows, I would highly appreciate your assistance.
    Regards, Grettir

    hello,
webelements can be used for the interface to database writebacks...they don't do the writebacks themselves but create the interface to make it easier for an end user to add annotations etc...these values are then passed to a second report or a subreport. using the default prompting interface makes this quite difficult.
here's where the database writebacks are done...since version 9 of crystal reports there have been command objects. command objects have the ability to use any database syntax that is compliant with the database connection. i.e. if the syntax can go through the odbc layer then you can do this in a command in crystal reports.
commands will honour database securities so you don't have to worry about someone dropping a table if rights have been properly assigned. a word of caution there to ensure that database rights have been done properly as you don't want all end users to have the ability to write a report that can do database updates.
commands are also database specific so you would have to check your database online help to see what syntax would be appropriate.
the workflow would be to have 2 reports, one that had the webelements user interface and one that did the writeback. this user interface report would have the text object and submit button and using open document syntax, the values would be passed to the 2nd report that had the command object. the command object would have a prompt that would take the values from the open document url and then use the values in the write back.
    for example,
    1) the user interface report has one text object called "t1" and one submit button.
    2) the target command object report has a prompt called "t1".
    3) the target report command object has syntax like
    INSERT INTO yourtestable
    VALUES    ('{?t1}')
    SELECT     1
    4) yourtesttable in this case has only one text field
    5) the "SELECT 1" at the end of the command ensures that a dummy value is returned after running the update...to avoid a database error
    6) this syntax would be for sql server
this is of course a very simplified example.
if you are at tech ed phoenix, please drop by the business objects test drive area & i will be there. i can show you a bunch of different webelements examples and write back reports etc. until you become quite bored
    i hope that this helps,
    jamie

  • Premiere Elements 7 Basic Editing Question for DV

    Hello all,
    I have PE7, a Q6600 quad-core, and Windows 7 64bit.
I have captured about 6 hours of Standard Definition 16:9 DV footage from my church's grand opening ceremony.  Video was captured from an old Pana PV-GS320.
The church wants a dynamic video to be produced from the captured footage (60 minutes at the most in length).  I plan on doing many different effects including semi-transparent video layering, picture in picture, inserting photographs, and inputing audio clips from the ceremony.  The final product will be a standard definition DVD disc.
I've done some research regarding how DV is interlaced and output for  DVD should be interlaced (unless I'm wrong in that conclusion, let me  know).  I also know that doing heavy editing with interlaced footage  (slowing/speeding footage, zooming in and out, rotating, multiple  layering, etc) may create flickering and "mice teeth" in the video.  I've also searched through these forums and keep on running into HD  questions/solutions...  I guess I'm asking an old question that was probably  answered long ago when DV tape ruled the world.
    QUESTION 1:
So, if I may ask, in order to get the best results, should I prepare my raw footage in PE7 before editing it by (1) by deinterlacing it? (2) exporting it as progressive? (3) both? (4) leave it alone and begin editing away? or (5) am I missing another option?
    QUESTION 2:
Also, what resolution would be best to import the photos into the project?
I know the best way to work with any video is to make as little changes as possible to it, but this is unavoidable in my case.  No one wants to sit through 6 hours of video...
Thankyou very much for reading my questions and I really hope you have some time to answer it!  Thanks for any information!  I really appreciate it!
    -141rockwell

Relax, rockwell. You're making it all unnecessarily complicated.
If you've captured your video as DV-AVIs over a FireWire connection, you won't get "mice teeth" in your final product. The program is designed to work with interlaced video and create interlaced DVDs. The results should look virtually as good as the original footage! You can't damage video with "excess editing."
Just trust the program to take care of the technical issues. You can concentrate on the editing.
As for any photos you want to add, you'll get the best results if they're no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size, per the FAQs to the right of the forum.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Commercial Use Questions

I am planning to record a youtube video of me doing a "speedpaint" video as they're called by many on the internet where I will paint something using Photoshop Elements 8 and am wondering if it's ok to show Photoshop's User Interface in the video... And also if it's ok for me to "monetize" the speedpaint video of me painting with youtube's ad revenue service, the focus is on me painting the video, so i am wondering what the official word on this is. I would also like to know if Photoshop Elements 8 can be used for commercial purposes, for instance if I create a painting or any kind of jpeg using Photoshop Elements 8, will I be able to benefit commercially off of my artwork by selling the digital artwork? I am confused now because of something I read. Any help would be much appreciated!

Well I'm just a random guy who happened to see your post on the Adobe forums. I don't work for Adobe so don't take my view as gospel.
What you're planning probably won't incur the wrath of Adobe but you won't know that until they decide to issue you with a cease-and-desist letter. I doubt that they will.
I've seen projects such as yours done countless times without incident. Doesn't make it OK and does not mean that Adobe condones it or gives any kind of permission to do so.
What is certain though is that you are definitely permitted to use Adobe software for commercial purposes ie. make money off it. Even students can do that with the Educational version.
The best contact method is http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
But, again, you won't get an official response to such questions.

  • Newbie Demo Question

My friend tried the Demo and had issues... A hardware message and another observation is that the product features that he tried stated that you needed the plue $50 per year option.    I am asking for my friend as I am interested in getting into video primarily from still.. Now I do CS and heavy LR3 still.
We both do not want to pay $50 per year but in your opinion, is this something that most people would need?  I know I am not being specific and it depends..
Also the demo download should download the current product (current fix level)... Any feedback would be appreciated.   I buddy is not going to spend any more time with this unless it is a known fix.
Do you like the product ? and compared to other products, why?...
Thanks I know that I am all over the place with this post.

You do not need to pay $50 for Photoshop.com Plus unless you want the added online storage space and the added templates and effects.
The program is full and complete without it.
If you'd like to know more about the product and what I like about it, check out my page and the links on http://Muvipix.com/pe9.php
I've been using Premiere Elements since version 1 and, despite an occasional aggravation, I've found it to be far and away the best product of its kind out there. That's why I co-created Premiere Elements support site http://Muvipix.com and why I've written over half a dozen books on using it.
But it is an intensive program so:
    1) You want to make sure youv'e got an adequately powered, well maintained computer to run it on, and
    2) You want to make sure project settings match your source footage. If you're trying to edit video from a $100 still camera or that you downloaded from YouTube, you're likely going to have problems. But if you're working with video from a good Sony or Canon camcorder, you'll probably find great success!

  • StoreFrontModule   demo questions

    Hi,
I have a few questions on the Design and Build of the StoreFrontModule demo based on the FOD Schema.
I am using JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0 Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407 and as an exercise building the demo StoreFrontModule from scratch to see how this useful demo was designed.
Starting with the Model layer project StoreFrontService and looking at the Entity Object definitions in JDeveloper i see the Numeric and Date types are assigned to domain types "oracle.jbo.doamain.Numeric or Date" .
Project Properties SQL Flavor = Oracle
    Type map = Java
After creating Entity Objects the Types are naturally set to Java types like Bigint, BigDecimal and you go through the entities to reset these values to the relevant "oracle.job.domain types" .
    Questions :
1.0 In a large Datamodel this would be rather tedious, is there an way to automatically remap these Java Types to the Oracle Domain types from JDeveloper or must this be done with a tool set like JHeadstart ?
    thanks in advance
Edited by: russellw on Aug 25, 2009 5:18 AM

    Hi Frank,
If i create a new ADF Project in the Store Front application and then reverse engineer the ADDRESSES entity to
this project the attributes are indeed defined with oracle.jbo.domain types
    AddressId oracle.jbo.domain.DBSequence
    Longitude oracle.jbo.domain.Number
    Latitude oracle.jbo.domain.Number
    CreationDate oracle.jbo.domain.Date
    LastUpdateDate oracle.jbo.domain.Date
    ObjectVersionId oracle.jbo.domain.Number
However if i start from scratch to define a clean Application i cannot replicate this behavior
New Application XYZ --> FUSION WEB APPLICATION ( ADF )
Copy the Database FOD Connection to the Model project and reverse engineer then ADDRESSES
set the SQL behavior to the same as in the StoreFrontDemo
    SQL Flavor = Oracle
    Type Map = Java
Just like in the StoreFrontDemo project
    Query and Import ADDRESSES
then the Entity always has the following definition
    AddressId BigDecimal
    Longitude BigDecimal
    Latitude BigDecimal
    CreationDate Date
    LastUpdateDate Date
    ObjectVersionId BigDecimal
Of course if i choose Type map = Oracle the Types are set to normal Oracle Types instead of the jbo classes
The clean application appears to be set up the same as the StorerFrontDemo app but the behavior when reverse
    engineering is completely different.
I note that the StoreFront Model has additional Libraries defined on its model and have also tried defining
these libraries in the Clean App Model but it does not affect the reverse engineering behavior.
    My question is
What has to be done in setting in setting up the clean App to replicate this behavior.
Is the option New Application Fusion Application the wrong choice, perhaps i should be using New generic Application and configuring it from that point ?
    thanks
    Russell

  • Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac Question about Opening Files

Hi. I somehow must have changed some settings in Photoshop Elements and I don't know how to change them back. Whenever I open an image, it opens at a size of 34.5% and the window is sized accordingly. When I change the view to Actual Pixels, the image gets bigger but the window stays the same size as before so I need to manually resize the window. Anyway, I don't know how I accidentally set these settings as the default. I'd like Photoshop Elements to open images at 100% and have the window size be the same. Does anyone know how I can fix it? Thanks.

Elements will open an image at the largest size it can so that the whole image fits in the Active Image Area. It's the same as Fit on Screen view.
You can make the Active Image Area larger by collapsing Panels and the Project Bin.
To get your window to resize with your photo you need to choose a Preference. Go up to the Photoshop Elements menu (Edit menu for Windows users) and choose Preferences > General and click on the box next to Zoom Resizes Windows. Click OK.
    Hope that Helps!

  • Photoshop Elements Serial Number Deactivation Question

I bought Photoshop Elements 8.0 a few years back and have been using it happily and successfully since. However, I have now run into a serial number activation problem that will not allow me to use the software. The error given is: "Our records indicate that this serial number has already been used to set up and activate Photoshop Elements 8.0 on two other machines, which is the maximum allowed."
Of course, it is simple enough to deactivate a computer if that computer is accessible, but therein lies the problem. One of the two machines that is taking up my activations is my old Macbook, which experienced a total motherboard failure in March 2-13. I restored onto my new Macbook from a Time Machine backup, but when I did so, PSE required me to re-enter my serial number. This was easy enough, but it considers this new Macbook to be a third activation and thus will not allow me to use the software. And, of course, given that my previous Macbook is dead and gone, I cannot access my old Macbook to deactivate the software there.
What can I do to solve this?
Computer specifications: Macbook Pro, 15" (bought 2013). Mac OS X Version 10.8.5. 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 8 GB of RAM. The software is Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0

  • Repeater demo question: how to filter by name?

    Hello,
I was looking at the repeater demo in the JSF beta distribution for some help with a problem I'm having.
For example, how would one modify the demo so that #{RepeaterBean.customers} only returns those customers who have a specific name?
    My thought:
    1) add a new property in RepeaterBean called "customerName".
    2) add the following above the data_table in the repeater.jsp:
    <h:input_text value="#{RepeaterBean.customerName}"/>
    3) Add the appropriate logic in the "RepeaterBean.customers" method to only add those customers to the list whose name is equal to "RepeaterBean.customerName".
Unfortunately, this idea doesn't work. The "data_table" gets at the value of "RepeaterBean.customers" before it sets the value of the "RepeaterBean.customerName". In other words, when "RepeaterBean.customers" is called, it has no idea what the value of "RepeaterBean.customerName" is because it hasn't been set by JSF yet.
The above is a very simple example, and obviously not very useful, but it illustrates a particular problem: data_table inspects its value before other values from the form are set, and thus the data_table's value cannot be based on other form data.
Any ideas on work-arounds or solutions!?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

The approach you suggest is failing in the beta due to a bug in UIData, where it is too aggressive about caching the list of customers. This has been corrected for the final release.
One thing you might experiment with is having the getCustomers() method return a javax.faces.model.DataModel instead of a List. (You might even find the existing ListDataModel implementation useful for this.) By providing your own DataModel, it may be possible to update the underlying data directly, and therefore not be impacted by the caching.

  • MapInit.jsp/DMAP.JSP Demo Question

I have played around with the demo of the dynamic map. I want to use the functionality that allows the mouseover effect for the state_abrv in my own application. When I try to change the demo to use my data I get an error in the bottom of the Browser that simply says "Error on Page" I get no other clue as to what my error may be, I assume it has something to do with this section of code:
    String[] colsToSelect = new String[]{"Location, City", "State StateABRV"};
    info = mv.identify(dataSrc,
    "map_data", //which table
    colsToSelect, //which columns to identify
    "map_loc_data", //which geometry column
8307, //srid of the geometry column
x,y //mouse click position on screen
This is the Original Code Example:
    String[] colsToSelect = new String[]{"City", "Pop90 Population", "State_abrv state"};
    info = mv.identify(dataSrc,
    "cities", //which table
    colsToSelect, //which columns to identify
    "location", //which geometry column
8265, //srid of the geometry column
x,y //mouse click position on screen
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong, or at least tell me how I can get the browser to give me more infomration on what the error might be.
This error shows up in the bottom bar in IE, in Mozilla I get no error, but the functionality still does not work.
    Thanks!

Hi, your application (jsp pages) are processed at the server side (for instance, inside the standalone OC4J). Please check your server side logs for any suspicious error messages. If you are using standalone oc4j they should be displayed on the console/terminal it got started from. You should also check your mapviewer log if you enabled it, which usually lies inside $OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/mapviewer/web/WEB-INF/log directory.
without meaningful error messages or stacktraces you cannot debug such issues.

  • Photoshop Elements (6 thru 12) questions

    1) Updates for 6, 7, 9, & 12 on Mac 10.7 &/or Windows 7Pro 64:  will the most recent updates include all the earlier updates for that version?  If not how do I know where to begin?
    2) How many copies of each version are you allowed?  I have a desktop with PSE 9 & 12.  I have a Mac laptop with Parallels.  The Mac side has PSE 6 & 9.  I would like to put PSE 9 on the newly installed Win 7 side.  I don't know if Adobe counts the Mac/Parallels installs as one or 2 versions.
    3)  My installation of PSE 12 has a white background (rather than a zone 3 grey) which makes it totally unusable.  I have been told that it should be able to change it to a background shade  similar to my PSE 7 &/or 9 - so I can actually use it.  I can't find a way to do it.  Please give the step by step procedure.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Thanks for the answers to the first 2 questions.
As too no. 3:  My monitors are all calibrated.  I just compared the screens on PSE 9 & 12.  The photo screen on both are very close to 18% grey, or zone 5.  The boarder on PSE 12 is a bit lower than the 90% white side of a gray card, maybe 75 to 80%.  The boarder on PSE 9 & 7 are more like a zone 3 (i.e. deep gray).  As any photographer, painter, graphic artist, or moth knows the eye is drawn to the lightest & brightest color.  In the case of PSE 12 that would mean your eye is drawn AWAY from the photographic image & towards the boarder.  Nobody who knew what they were doing would incorperate that into the design of an editing tool.
There has to be some way to make PSE 12 useable.  Until then I'm pretty much stuck with 9, & maybe 7.
So can I, or anyone else who got PSE 12, do to correct this problem.
    Bob

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Slideshow transition question

    Hi,
I'm creating a slideshow using Photoshop Elements 8 and can't seem to figure out how to have the pan/zoom effect per picture continue through my transitions.  I was able to successfully have pan/zoom work through my dissolves when I created a slideshow in PS Elements 7... but now it's been awhile since I've done it and I'm now using PS Elements 8.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Leann

Maybe I'm not seeing what you are... but when I'm in PS 8 editor, I see that I can change from a fade to a wipe, etc.  But I still don't see a button that will make the photo continue to pan/zoom through the transition.  What happens is the outgoing picture freezes when the next picture starts to fade in with the pan/zoom.   I know I did it in past versions... just don't remember how I did it.  Am I making sense?  I just want to have the incoming and outgoing pictures continue to pan/zoom throughout the transitions.  Maybe I just haven't followed your instructions fully?

  • Elements Organizer 8- A question everyone should consiter

Will the picture management system I've programmed with Elements Organizer 8 be lost if I reformat my computer?  How do I prevent the loss of my picture management system I've programmed with Elements Organizer 8 while reformatting my computer?
I store my photos on an external hard drive, because I have about 500Gigs of photos.  Therefore, any metadata saved to the photos would not be lost, but metadata saved to the Elements Organizer would be. I am not positive about this, but organizer Organizer seems to store the metadata I add through Organizer somewhere within the organizer's archiving system, as oppose to adding it to the metadata programmed into the picture file by my camera. Am I correct?
If I would lose my system, could this loss be prevented by using the online sycronizing Adobe offers?  I haven't yet synced because my photos far exceed thier photo backup stoage limit.  Although I'm wondering if by syncing I could backup all the metadata I've added for all my photos so that elements could reload it when I reinstall the program after the reformat.

I like #1, I did a 'test run' and it copied a lot of data files along with my pictures, so it seems to be what I am looking for.
However, #2 might still apply.  I edit and manage my photos out of the aforementioned external hard drive, but I have back ups of the origionals and edits on a second external hard drive and a second back up of the origionals on DVDs: Both of with I manage manually.
Where would I locate the *.pse8db file to copy it?
