MapInit.jsp/DMAP.JSP Demo Question

I have played around with the demo of the dynamic map. I want to use the functionality that allows the mouseover effect for the state_abrv in my own application. When I try to change the demo to use my data I get an error in the bottom of the Browser that simply says "Error on Page" I get no other clue as to what my error may be, I assume it has something to do with this section of code:
String[] colsToSelect = new String[]{"Location, City", "State StateABRV"};
info = mv.identify(dataSrc,
"map_data", //which table
colsToSelect, //which columns to identify
"map_loc_data", //which geometry column
8307, //srid of the geometry column
x,y //mouse click position on screen
This is the Original Code Example:
String[] colsToSelect = new String[]{"City", "Pop90 Population", "State_abrv state"};
info = mv.identify(dataSrc,
"cities", //which table
colsToSelect, //which columns to identify
"location", //which geometry column
8265, //srid of the geometry column
x,y //mouse click position on screen
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong, or at least tell me how I can get the browser to give me more infomration on what the error might be.
This error shows up in the bottom bar in IE, in Mozilla I get no error, but the functionality still does not work.
Thanks!

Hi, your application (jsp pages) are processed at the server side (for instance, inside the standalone OC4J). Please check your server side logs for any suspicious error messages. If you are using standalone oc4j they should be displayed on the console/terminal it got started from. You should also check your mapviewer log if you enabled it, which usually lies inside $OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/mapviewer/web/WEB-INF/log directory.
without meaningful error messages or stacktraces you cannot debug such issues.

  • Unable to get the SVG demos to work in mapinit.jsp

    Hi forum
    I've played a bit around with the Mapviewer demos for Oracle Maps. I have loaded the demo data in a database and done the setup as described in the setup. Everything works - except all demos related to SVG, like mapinit.jsp in this case. I've tried both version 10.1.3.1 and 10.1.3.3. I've tried this in misc. browsers, and here's what happens in each
    IE7 + Adobe SVG Viewer: The SVG window is blank
    Firefox 3: For Mapviewer 10.1.3.1, displays a "Malformed XML document error". For Mapviewer 10.1.3.3, wants to install an "Unknown plugin" which it then can't find, and doesn't display anything.
    Google Chrome: Outputs an XML document as text in the SVG window
    I have tried adding an entry to mime-types like "image/svg+xml svgz", but that didn't seem to change anything. No browser wants to display the SVG correctly.
    Choosing "Regular image" for the same demo data works fine.
    How do you get this to work? What am I missing? The appserver runs 10.1.3.4.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jacob

    Hi Jacob,
    Since Adobe dropped support of their SVG viewer, MapViewer SVG support has not been updated with the new features added. Therefore, do not expect to get in SVG, what you currently get with other formats. The minimum support initially added for SVG, is still there. We will check the demos.
    Different browsers provider different levels (some rather incomplete) of support for SVG, and scripting with SVG is also done differently on different browser/platform, so this makes difficult to keep SVG support updated. You experienced these differences in your tests with different browsers.

  • Dynamic Themes in mapinit.jsp

    Hi ,
    How can I pass dynamic themes using mapinit.jsp ,
    For example alongwith all the parameters like map size , basemap etc..
    I want to give a new date parameter . based on the given date I need to put a where clause in my themes like where date=parameter.date.
    I have salesperson whose location changes on daily basis and user need to see their location on date basis , for example where all the salesman were on 28-10-2006 and where all the sales man were on 25-10-2006 and so on ..
    Please help

    Thanks a lot that worked out.But still as I have my complete requirement is I need to display set of radio buttons when I click on this link.
    Can this be possible by javascript.Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this. The actual scenario is like I get the a list of 30 dates and their corresponding radio buttons from a webservice. What I do is I read all the values from that webservice and convert them into text( actually I get the codes) and need to display that as a calendar to the user and when they click on a particular date { I copied a calender from the net and placed that code in my jsp to display the calender)
    the set of radio buttons should be displayed underneath the calender.That is both the calender and the list of radio buttons should be on the same page.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pavan.

  • Moving default location of JSP demo

    As you know that the default location of JSP demo for 9iAS is located at ~/Apache/Apache/htdocs/demo and I have successfully changed the doc root to ~/docs and served our locally created Web apps in that directory. But when I moved demo into ~/docs/demo and trying the demo apps such as lottery, I got error:

    You can move them from teh default location to wherever you want.
    Drag the iTunes folder from C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music to
    C:\Users\<username>\iTunes\iTunes Music.
    Hold Shift and laucch iTunes then select *Choose existing library* and select the *iTunes library file* in the iTunes folder.

  • Missing $$ORACLE_HOME/jsp/demo/README file

    I have installed OAS9i standard edition and I am trying to run the sample EJB calling EJB from the OracleJSP Demo. The decription says:
    This sample isllustrates how to invoke an EJB

  • Jsp demo under iAS

    I have been trying to test the sample jsps that came with iAS on Solaris 8.

    Is this a problem of memory or CLASSPATH setting ?

    Andre,
    I have found the answer to my problem and perhaps yours. It seems that I18N (internationalization) in SP4 may have a performance bug in it.
    My soak tests show that with i18N checked in the iAS Admin Tool, testing the fortune cookie sample application with light load (1 request / sec) resulted in a kxs response time initially of 15ms, however this response time increased by roughly 1% per request (i.e after 100 requests the response time had more than doubled).
    Switching I18N off yielded a steady 7ms kxs response time from the fortune cookie application.
    I would add that I turned I18N on AFTER the installation procedure.
    Is this a known issue in SP4? Is there a patch?

    Owen

  • Mapviewer demo mapinit.jsp with svg

    hi,
    the demo shows me per tooltip the number of a highway or the data about a county.
    how can i in a jsp-file get the highlighted data out of the svg-map, for example:
    if i get a tooltip for a highway and i click the mouse, i want to (onclick) get the highwaynumber. all i know now is that i can get the rowid of the selected feature.
    function my_feature(theme, id, x, y)
    alert('my_feature 1');
    alert(theme);
    alert(id);
    s_str = map.window.getinfo(theme, id); --> error
    alert('my_feature 2');
    is getinfo the right method?
    thomas

    getInfo is the right method for your purpose. However, getInfo returns the whole info tip string and you need to extract the attribute that you need from it.

  • Mapviewer demo mapinit.jsp with svg doesn't work with jdeveloper

    hi ng,
    i tried the source code for the svg-sample in jdeveloper and first of all jdeveloper dislikes the line "<embed id="map" src="<%= mv.getGeneratedMapImageURL() %>...". after "embed" a green line is to be seen.
    When i start the sample the map looks okay, but when i want to hide a theme (or zoom), i get the internet_explorer-message "error on the page".
    "themeVisibleArray[idx]='false';" goes right but the next line occurs the error: "map.window.hideTheme(theme) ;"
    map is not known at this place, it seems to me.
    who can help (please)?
    greetings

  • ASK:Mapviewer JSP demo not work in HTML DB

    Hi all, First I apologize if my thread is an old topic, but I need to know it...
    When I'm trying create a URL region...and I give an url like this...http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/demo/mapnavi.jsp?&centerx=106.88&centery=-6.94 and soon... I get the result like I need for the first time, but when I'm trying to submit some change (i.e. turn off one layer from base_map or zoom in the map) I get the error message from HTTP server like internal error or something (sory I forget to capture the error message)...
    How can I embed jsp page into HTML DB region without problem?
    Thanks for help!

    Hi Adhi,
    explaining the MapViewer API here would be a little bit too much... But there is a good documentation available under
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/mapviewer/mapviewer_doc_index.html
    I also think, questions regarding MapViewer itself are better placed in
    Spatial

  • Taglib and jsp pages question

    Hi, I just recently got tag libraries to work and I am wanting to send a dynamic attribute that has a value which is stored in the session. The problem is that I believe that the tag library is processed before the actual jsp code is, and therefore I get something like
    <%= someObj.getValue() %> instead of the actual value. Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so could you please recommend some solution(s)?
    Here is how I call the taglibg:
    <countytaglib:countyList state="TN" selectedCounty="<%= county %>" />
    The value ends up being '<%= county %>' instead of the actual value.
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
    -PV

    The required is only if the attribute is required.
    For your question's answer the rtexprvalue should only be true.
    in the TLD file for the TAG, for every attribute whose
    value can be evaluated by the JSP scriptlet put as
    follows:
    <attribute>
    <name>attribute_name</name>
    <required>true</required>
    <rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
    </attribute>rtexpvalue should be specified to true in case for the
    attribute
    name you would like something like
    <%= user.getFirstName() %>Hope that helps.

  • Newbie with JSP & JDBC questions

    Hi. I have a quick question. I have a client jsp page with a table, listing all the fields from my mySQL table called kellybclients. At the end of each row, I also have a submit button that I would like navigate the user to the campus jsp page that only shows the data associated with the client who's button they clicked on in the table. I'm trying to figure out how to pass this data from my JSP into the rowset.setCommand method in my connection/data bean. I am using a cached row set. Here's the code from my bean:
    * To change this template, choose Tools | Templates
    * and open the template in the editor.
    package ETS;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import javax.sql.rowset.CachedRowSet;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import com.sun.rowset.CachedRowSetImpl;
    public class CampusDataBean {
        private CachedRowSet rowSet;
      public CampusDataBean() throws Exception
        Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
        rowSet = new CachedRowSetImpl();
        rowSet.setUrl("jdbc:mysql://traderseven.nmsu.edu/is470Spring08?relaxAutoCommit=true");
        rowSet.setUsername("is470Spring08");
        rowSet.setPassword("1DoNtier");
        rowSet.setCommand("SELECT campid, clientid, campname,campcounty FROM kellybCampus WHERE clientid=?");

        rowSet.beforeFirst();
        while(rowSet.next())
          CampusBean campus = new CampusBean();
          campus.setCampID(rowSet.getString(1));
          campus.setClientID(rowSet.getString (2));
          campus.setCampName(rowSet.getString(3));
          campus.setCounty(rowSet.getString(4));
          campusList.add(campus);
        return campusList;
    public void addCampus(CampusBean campus) throws SQLException
        rowSet.moveToInsertRow();
        rowSet.updateString(1,campus.getCampID());
        rowSet.updateString(2,campus.getClientID());
        rowSet.updateString(3,campus.getCampName());
        rowSet.updateString(4,campus.getCounty());
        rowSet.insertRow();
        rowSet.moveToCurrentRow();
        rowSet.acceptChanges();
    }I'm sorry if this is too vague. I'd appreciate any help, fixes, or pointers on where to learn how to do this. Thank you again.
    KellyJo

    So the button should be a Submit button for a form. There are a couple of different methods for doing this:
    1) Each row on the table can be a different form, each form uses the same action (servlet) target and has a hidden input with a unique identifier for each of the clients:
    <table>
      <tr><form action="selectClient" method="post"><td> etc </td><td><input type="hidden" name="id" value="1"/><input type="submit"/></td></form></tr>
      <tr><form action="selectClient" method="post"><td> etc </td><td><input type="hidden" name="id" value="2"/><input type="submit"/></td></form></tr>2) Use a single form with a button type=submit for each row with different values (Note: This is broken in IE7 so you probably shouldn't use it)
    <table><form action="selectClient" method="post">
      <tr><td> etc </td><td><button type="submit" name="id" value="1">Submit</button></td></tr>
      <tr><td> etc </td><td><button type="submit" name="id" value="2">Submit</button></td></tr>3) Use a single form, have a hidden value with a blank value. Each row has a submit button with a javascript onclick method that sets the form's hidden value to one appropriate to the row, then submits the form. I won't show you this code but there are examples on the web.
    4) Use a single form with an input="submit" element on each row. Each button would have a different name with the ID info encoded in it, then you would have server-side code that takes parameters, finds the right one and parses out the proper row to edit:
    <table><form action="selectClient" method="post">
      <tr><td> etc </td><td><input type="submit" name="submit__id_1"/></td></tr>
      <tr><td> etc </td><td><input type="submit" name="submit__id_2"/></td></tr>I think most people end up doing some variant of 3, which I don't like because I hate to rely on JavaScript to make my web apps work properly. I would prefer 4, which takes more work on the server side (which I like better) but 1 works just as well with a lot more typing and uglier HTML code. Actually, I would like 2 the best because that is pretty much what the <button> element was designed for, but Microsoft screwed that up.

  • JSP demo PTS included with Oracle 9i Developer Release for Mac not working

    Hello all, please pardon my ignorance, but I am an Oracle DBA not a JSP programmer.
    I have installed Oracle 9i developer release for Mac OSX and it included a demo application in JSP called pts.
    I followed all the instruction and it still doesn't seem to work.
    When I try to login to the application I get the following exception:
    exception
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    An error occurred at line: 3 in the jsp file: /oradev/pts/solmktinit.inc
    Generated servlet error:
    [javac] Since fork is true, ignoring compiler setting.
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file
    [javac] Since fork is true, ignoring compiler setting.
    [javac] /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.24/work/Standalone/localhost/_/oradev/pts/login_jsp.java:7: cannot resolve symbol
    [javac] symbol : class DBAccess
    [javac] location: package pts
    [javac] import oradev.pts.DBAccess;
    I'm not sure what this means or how to fix it. I'm sure it's something simple like modifying my classpath or something, but, as I said, I don't know where to begin.
    Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Can't you just use the 10g client ?
    I have not tested the 9i dev. with oci calls but I would not be surprised if you try this on tiger. That won't work AFAIK.
    regards,
    Ronald.

  • JSF Backing bean / JSP interaction questions

    A few questions about JSF beans and JSP page interactions. Bear in mind that I'm new to both JSP and JSF, so a solution that might be obvious to the rest of the world may be new to me.
    1. Can I pass a parameter to the backing bean method from an "action" attribute:
    <h:commandLink action="#{TableData.SortRec}">
    <h:outputText value="#{msgs.selectedHeader}"/>
    </h:commandLink>
    I'd like to call the same method from several controls, but pass it a parameter to determine which field to sort on.
    2) Is there a way for a backing bean method to determine which control invoked it?
    3) Is there a way to access JSF backing bean methods from JSP tags. I'd like to do some conditional page assembly based on a JSF bean property... JSF doesn't appear to have a conditional like JSP's <c:if>, but I could use JSP's if it could access the JSF bean.

    Could you pl tell me how to pass parameter thru CommandButton
    I have the following situation
    1) greetingList.faces which list the Ids & greeting Text
    Id Text
    1 Hello World
    2 Hello World
    2) Pl note Ids are h:commandLink. A click on the Id will render greetingForm.faces with data pertaining to that Id and with Update h:CommandButton
    3) When i click Update button it results in the following error
    javax.faces.FacesException: Error calling action method of component with id greetingForm:_id4
    Caused by: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Exception while invoking expression #{greetingForm.update}
    Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
    So i verified with h:message that Id is passed as Null when click on Update button. I also checked greetingForm.faces has a not null value by printing <h:outputText value="#{greetingForm.message.id}"/>
    So i guess the Id value is overwriteen with null. Also i have defined Id as property in managed bean
    <managed-bean-name>greetingForm</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>com.mycompany.GreetingForm</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>id</property-name>
    <value>#{param.id}</value>
    </managed-property>
    Any pointers/suggestions at the earliest on how to pass the value of Id on a click of update button from greetingForm.faces to greetingForm.java will be highly appreciated
    I am willing to upload my war file

  • JSP/Access question

    I'm a webmaster for a non-profit site and I'm looking into adding some
              member login, web-based forms for updating the site. I get free
              webspace from a local provider who says our site is on a machine
              running Apache and Linux. The tech said I can't use ASP (without some
              mod) and I should look into using JSP or Perl.
              So, question for you guys:
              If I only have access as a database program, what is the best language
              to use? JSP, PHP, Perl?
              Thanks,
              John

    either u can make use of
    <jsp:usebean scope="application" id="<InstanceName>" class="<CLASS_NAME>" >or make use of scriptlets code
    <%
    Vector<Object> oBj = (Vector<Object>) application.getAttribute("<AttributeName>");
    %>

  • Servlet + JSP + SQL question

    I have a servlet that is executing a few queries against a database. I am fowarding the results to a jsp page to display the results. I have been able to do this. My problem is when my query selects more than one field I am unsure on how to read that into an array or something like that. All the results I have done so far have had multiple results but only from one field in the database. Here is my serlvet and jsp code. If some one could tell me how to read multiple field into an array and display them on a jsp page that would be great. Thank you

    OK if you look at the code I pasted above I have doen that. I hav ethat book and it is good. My question is how do I get the data read into a multidemisional array or an arraylist like I am using in the code above so I can access that on the jsp page. Can you give an example. Here is what I want . I have a table called anouncements with 3 fields (ID, name, url) I am returning say 10 results. I want to store them in a single arraylist or multideminsional array and call them on the jsp page. What syntax would I use on the servlet and on the jsp page for this? I know how to do it as seen above when I return only one field with many results from the database. Thank you in advance for any help
