Elements 9 shuts down.

In photoshop elements 9 I get a message that elements 9 has stopped working and that windows is looking for the problem. Then elements shuts down.
What can I do about this?

Can you think of any changes you made to your system just before PSE stopped working?  Such as uninstalling or installing any software or drivers?  Did this start happening after you began to import video files?
The other thing to do is see if the Windows Event Logs give us something to go on:  Start...Control Panel...Administrative Tools...Event Viewer.  In the left panel of the Event Viewer, expand the "Windows Logs" folder and select the "Application" log.  Look for any items with a red icon and that refer to PSE.  Copy the event info into a message here.

If you normally open with Organizer perhaps it is encountering a corrupt image in its cached folder on opening.
I just installed PSE 10 and set up a shortcut to go right to the full editor. See if that works for you.
If you have a lot of disk activity on starting, more than usual, previously installing certain plug-ins requires PSW to rebuild its cache system where these are stored.
In Organizer if you can set a preference to not open up the last folder used automagically, you might get it to start. Then when selecting folders to browse you can note which folder causes a crash. If you start the editor directly perhaps in preferences you'll find an Organizer setting to try this out.

  • When using New-Panorama Elements shuts down

I am running Elements on Windows 8.  Despite years of trouble free use, suddenly when trying to use the panorama option, each time Elements shuts down.  I have already re-installed Elements but no change. Any idea ?

Corrupted fonts could cause a problem whether you're using them or not. Try uninstalling them from the Fonts folder and see if that fixes things.
    Also, try trashing/resetting Preferences.

  • ELEMENTS SHUTS DOWN WHEN SENDING EMAILS

I have a Vista system and when I attempt to send photos through Elements 7 it shuts down completely. Tech support said I need Outlook, which is not on my computer. Is there another way to send photos? How do I set up an Adobe email account? Thanks!

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to the 12.1 Update using an opened projects Help Menu/Update. If not, please do so.
Let us go through the usual drill...
    a. Latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 12/12.1?
    b. Running program from User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    c. Is everything else working in Premiere Elements except for its YouTube feature?
    d. Does the problem exist with and without your antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Then the drill specific to Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube...
    a. What is the estimated file size and duration of the Timeline that you are trying to upload to YouTube from the Premiere Elements feature?
What type of formats are present on that Timeline?
    b. Please check out your YouTube account..... by exporting your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Timeline to a .mp4 file saved to the computer hard drive.
Then upload that .mp4 to YouTube at the YouTube web site. Do you have a regular account at YouTube or one of its time extended ones?
    c. Can you describe any differences between the 1 video upload that worked from within Premiere Elements feature versus the 1 that did not.
If you start a new project for the one that did not work, does it then work?
Please review and consider. Your answers will help us evaluate the situation for us to come up with a solution for you.
    Thanks.

  • Elements shutting down by itself

I have just upgraded to elements 10 on a computer running windows xp.  I am having trouble printing the pictures to a konica minolta magicolor 1600 printer.  I am also having trouble with the elements software shutting down repeatedly after a short period of time.  What can I do to correct this problem?  I find this totally unacceptable.

For a more stable experience, when you launch the program right click on the edit or organizer icon and choose “Run As Administrator”

  • Premier Elements Shuts Down due to Memory Shortage (it says)

I am running PE7 on a new Dell XPS with Vista 64 in either 32 bit compatibility or XP compability modes (tried both, same problem). Quicktime is up to date. Have 4GB installed. Ran the trial version ok for a month but the full purchased version always crashes after a few minutes editing of HDV saying it is running low on memory. Depending on how it feels either the screen turns pale (yeah really, so do I) - needs Task Manager to End Process or the PC totaly freezes meaning a power reset or I just get the shutdown message from PE and its gone. I cannot see what's wrong. Any suggestions?

Hi Steve, thanks for the quick reply.
According to the camera book the video is HD_####.MP4 format compressed in
H.264 format from a Samsung VP-HMX10 HD camcorder using SD card memory.
Some earlier files from this source are in SD format also MP4 and I think
the problem occurred with them but I have not been back to try recently. The
trial version of PE7 I downloaded was tested using HDV but was not quite as
large a project as currently editing (this is about 14 minutes of
recording). A crash typically occurs when moving through the video when
editing or assembling, it seems it can't keep up with the data and falls
over. A look at the task manager memory shows that up to 3GB has been used
but on other occasions this could be around 2GB when PE7 hangs.
    PC is XPS 430 quad core Intel Q8200, 2.33GHz, 1333Mhz, 4MB cash. 4x1GB RAM,
1067 MHz DDR3 dual channel. Hard drive 640GB with the partition in use for
editing the video projects 117GB, 54GB free.  No editing to external drive.
Operating system Vista 64 home premium with all latest updates installed on
a daily basis by Microsoft. (shipped as SP1).  SP2 per se has not been
    downloaded.
PE7 is installed under Programmed files (X86).  As explained I have also set
the the compatibility mode to XP and have the same problem.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Editor Shuts Down Without Saving for Web

    Hi
I have a mac version of Photoshop Elements 12 Editor. I have been using the products for a few months with no problems until recently when I try to save for web (after the preview is shown), the program will shut down by itself when I click the "Save" button.
    Mac version OS X 10.9.5

Oh, and while you're in there delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
There's a saved application states folder at the same level as the Preferences folder. Delete anything in there for PSE.

  • "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Premiere Elements to be shut down. We will attemp

I have been getting this message just a few nights ago after working on a project. Premiere was working at first for a few days but then this happened. Now everytime I try to activate the program it displays "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Premiere Elements to be shut down. We will attempt to save your current project".
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling premiere 3.0 but that didn't help. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My computer is a Dell Dimension Desktop running on Windows XP with 256 MB of RAM

There are a couple of similar threads, so I will post my solution to you also. This worked when I had the same problem.
I have found a couple of steps for a solutions that worked for the "encountered serious error" message when attempting to share the project to disk or computer file. Here was my solution that worked.
    1. I already compiled a project that took me 2 months and used video, photo, music. I added a new video track 'before' the other tracks and inserted a black jpg image, stretch it the entire timeline and make the opacity 0%. This covers any unseen 'gaps' in the project and won't interfere or cover anything else in the project.
    2. Go to file - project archiver - copy project to a new folder away from the current folder (this will include a copy of all media used in the timeline of the project - trust me it's worth the duplication!).
    3. Go to preferences - clear your media cache. Close the program.
    4. Hold down the left ctrl + shift and then click on the Premiere program icon. Keep holding the ctrl + shift until the welcome screen for Premiere appears.
    5. Open the new *.prel project you had saved in the new folder in step 2.
    6. Go to share and make your disk or computer file.
After trying all the recommendations of the various posts, this is what I found that worked (I didn't find step 2 in a post but was just trying to back up the work I did and found that it created a new *.prel file!). For some reason, when previously trying to share the project with the original *.Prel file, it didn't like having all the media in different folders from the project, even if they were a in a sub-folder within the project folder. It wanted all the media in the SAME FOLDER as the project.
I just now have a new error that I can't find the solution for in support or the forum yet. But that's another post.
I hope this helps someone else!

  • Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down.

I have Adobe Premier Elements 7. When I launch the application then try to begin using it an error is presented which advises Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.  When I click OK the program shuts down. I have tried fixes I have found on the Forum. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the program.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.9.4"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•How many and what speed are your hard drive(s)... ie 5400rpm or 7200rpm or?
    And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
•What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
•What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
•Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
•For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
    •ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
    •nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

  • Another "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."

When I try an open the original project or a copy of it I get this message.
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I have tried to create a new project and get the same message.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program a few times.
The last time I worked on the project I had no issues.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
    a. Open Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 - Yes, I get the welcome screen (v9.0).  I can choose open project, and choose my project.  The program will open and show that it is loading the project with the scroll line will show all the way to 100% and will stay there.  Sometimes I get the "Sorry" message and sometimes the loading project window just goes away and nothing is loaded and the program stays on the clock until I close it.
    b. You can find the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and deletion of it makes no difference to your issue. - Made no difference
    c. Have you deleted the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists? If not, please do so. - Done, made no difference
    1. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? - Running McAfee Total Access Protection.  Turned off firewall and anti virus. It works.  As a test I left the anti virus off and tried loading project with and with out the firewall turned on.  The project loaded each time.  I then tested the firewall on, with and with out antivirus.  Antivirus off - project loads each time.  Antivirus on - doesn't load and program stays on clock.
I will continue to experiment with it and see what happens.  The last time I used it I was running a different McAfee product than no.  So it seems to work with the Firewall on and the Antivirus off.

  • Premiere Elements 11 shut down while starting; without error message

    hello everybody,
pe11 worked well at my Laptop.
Since a week it always shut down while starting it.

Before a week ago, how long had you been working with Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit without problems?
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on that computer with Premiere Elements 11?
Any new programs, 3rd party plug-ins and codecs, installed?
Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free space is at those designated locations? Any pile ups
of preview files in the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder or conformed audio files in the Media Cache
    Files Folder.
Let us get the classic deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file out of the way.

and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11.0 Folder
in which it exists. Be sure to be working with Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
Depending on how things are going, you might also include right clicking the desktop icon for the program, selecting and applying Run As
