Elements7

I had Elements 7 on my laptop. While I had it I was able to go into my Artwork where the backgrounds and etc is well there was new backgrounds and other things that had like a blue thing in the corner meaning I could download them and use them. Well my computer ended up crashing on me so I had to re-buy elements 7 and I installed it on my computer. Well I go to edit a picture and when I go to go into Artwork I don't have this opinion no more. I also before could sign in to my photoshop like when it comes up organize,edit,create when u open photoshop it would be on the left side to sign in. I can't now. Can someone tell me what happened?

Photo problem in Elements7

I edited several photos through Elements 7 and when I pressed SAVE a box pulled up and I just skimmed it and I thought it just said it was going to group my photo on top of the original, but now when I go to open the photo back up it is not a photo but a box with a crack down the center of it. When I try to pull it up and edit it more it reads "cannot open the picture because it is the wrong type file" I need these picture badly and I cannot even find the original. PLEASE HELP!!!!

While on the Editor space screen on PSE7, on the top taskbar, the first
button should be the FILE option followed by EDIT and so on. When you
click on FILE, one of the options on the drop down window should be
"Close". This is what I use to close and save my edited images. When you
are on the organizer this options are not going to be present, these are
only available on the Editor workspace.

Photoshop Elements Photo problem in Elements7
for some reason when i click on it there is not an option for
File--Reconnect.
i can now see it using windows, but i can only see it if i choose to open
it through windows, not if i just look at the thumbnail through windows.

Camera raw /elements7

i have been editing my photos on a friends pc [ cs3 extended ] i have just installed elements7 on mine, and although the "dummies" book says it has camera raw i cant find it. ive xp, my camera is sony cyber shot 155,could anybody explain please? its just that i got use to it. the quick edit in 7 is similiar so its no problem im just curious .

Can the Cyber shot 155 shoot in raw?
Well, one can still use ACR on jpegs, but still...
ACR is supposed to be installed by default, but the current version is 5.2. Lokk in Help>About>plug-ins (if that exists for PS E) to see if it is listed.
Or in Bridge, if you can get "open in camera raw" on a right-click.

Back up error elements7?

elements 7 tried to back up. after choosing the destination drive errror message appears "error encountered while writing file" using XP

I had the same problem and was very afraid to do the things I read (e.g. kill the last backups)! Now I solved the problem with these steps. Before that I tried some of them alone, but in the end it worked after I just did all of them together:
Get a iTunes-install-programm, start it and then press repair iTunes.
Restart iPhone and the computer.
Connect iPhone and then I gave a password to my back ups, right in the first window of the iPhone folder in iTunes. The computer automatily start a back up.
I let him and finish everything after that.
Then, I tried often to back up normal by sync: Everything works!!!

Adobe Photoshop elements7.0 (Organizer) error, windows 7

Hi!
I'm getting a "adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 (Organizer) has stopped working error". I seached the knowledgbase and found fixes for previous windows versions but not windows 7. I tried searching for similar files to no avail. Customer service wanted money so I thought I'd try to the forums. Please help!

Raw files from canon 550D TO Elements7

Elements 7 appears to download the raw files from my camera ( I can see them as they are selected) but when I choose to import them, the message I receive is that the files are damaged or that the format cannot be imported to Elements 7. Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe that support for the Canon 550D was introduced with Adobe Camera Raw 5.7 which is not compatible with PSE 7.
I think that your options are to either upgrade to a later version (8 or 9), use the DPP that came with the Canon or to use Adobe DNG converter.

Using Photoshop Elements7 / How to enter text on Photo

I have a photo with around 75 people in it. I am attempting to identify each one with a number, by placing a number on each one, then at the bottom of the photo entering the number and name by the number. End result being able to tell who each individual is by the number on them. Can this be done and if so how do I do it.

This is a 2 step process:
Go to Image>resize canvas size and extend the canvas to give you additional room for the text. From the drop down, select inches or % in the vertical axis, then click on the anchor point.
Access the horizontal type tool, and type identifying numbers over each subject, and then in the canvas extension. Each will be on its own layer, so you can position with the move tool.
I added an option which you may consider. Access the custom shape tool, and there is a library called "talk bubbles." You can place a bubble pointing to each subject and type the number as illustrated in the screen shot above (3).

個人的な使用でいうとAcrobat 6.0 Elementsでは、後からビューワだけAdobe Reader 9.0には出来たような記憶はあります（保障されるものではないし偶然にもうまく出来たのかもしれない）。
以下のサポート文章によれば、Acrobat 7.0 Elementsの環境にAdobe Reader 8を入れると「Adobe Reader 8 をインストールした場合、警告メッセージなどは表示されませんが、Adobe Reader 8 によって置き換えられます。」とあります。
「置き換え」ということはインストールしてもよいという意味なのか分かりませんが。

Acrobat Elementsは2007年で開発終了しており、ライセンス版ならAcrobat 9 Standardへのアップグレードが可能みたいですね。問い合わせてみてはどうでしょう？
どうしてもAdobe Reader 9.0での利用が必要なら、いまのうちにアップグレードしたほうがいいような。他のメーカーから出ている低価格のPDF作成ソフトでも十分な機能をもつものはあります。

How can I retreve old stored pictures after reinstalling Elements7 on a new computer?

My computer with windowsXL crashed. I now have Windows8 When I reinstalled Elements 7 most of the oictures were missing. I thought they wre all stored. Is there a way to get them back?

The photos are not stored in PSE. The photos are stored on your old computer's hard disk(s) somewhere. If those disk(s) are available, retrieve the photos and the PSE catalog file (*.pse7db) and move those to the new computer. The photos need to be in the EXACT same folders on the new computer that they were in on the old computer. The Catalog file can go anywhere. Then double-click on the *.pse7db file

In general, Paige is correct that you can't open a catalog from a newer version into an older version.
However, in this particular case, PSE 7 may be able to open PSE 8 catalogs because there was no change in the database format:
1. In PSE 8, find your catalog folder by doing Help > System Info.
2. In Windows Explorer, make a copy of that catalog folder somewere else.
3. In the copied folder, rename catalog.pse8db to catalog.pse7db. Delete the files collstatus.dat, fpstatus.dat, itemData.mk4, itemDataUpdate.mk2, rm5.3.cache, tagstatus.dat, thumb.5.cache, watch2.cache, and the folder sync2db. (Don't worry if some of those files aren't there.)
4. Double-click the file catalog.pse7db.
Beware that I haven't tested this extensively, so there may be all sorts of problems lurking underneath, even if it appears to work superficially. That's why you want to try it out on a test copy of your catalog folder.

Is there no way around this?!

I've just bought After Effects CS5. I've also bought a new Mac to run it on. So far, so good.
Now, this new Mac is not going to be connected to the internet. I have another computer, (this one, a PC), that I use for all my internet activities. It's my "sacrificial" computer, and I've had to wipe it and reinstall its contents several times over the years, because of viral and other attacks. I do not want to expose my new Mac to that.
So, before installing the software on my new Mac, I thought I would just check and make sure that I would be able to activate the program via this PC, even though the software is actually installed on the other computer, the Mac. I was able to do this when I bought Premiere Elements7 and Photoshop Elements 7 from Adobe. Actually, I installed those programs on a PC that isn't connected to the Net, copied the number that was generated on that computer when it was installed, and came back to this computer and entered that number into the Adobe site's activation page. This generated an activation key, which I then took back to the other PC and entered. This process activated my software. Yes, it was a bit of coming and going, but far preferable to putting my expensive graphics-dedicated computer at risk by putting it online, out in the minefield that is the Internet.
But now I find that I do not have that option with After Effects CS5. Apparently I am forced to set up an internet connection on my Mac, thus exposing it to all the hazards of the internet, just so that I can activate my (very expensive) After Effects. As I understand it, there is no option for activating via another computer.
What this seems to boil down to is that Adobe customers have to put their computers at a real risk, to protect Adobe from the possibility of piracy. And I do not accept the argument that Macs are "safer" or more secure on the Net. Maybe viruses are fewer, but obviously there would be just as much adware and spyware and god-knows-what that will contaminate a Mac. Why should customers who buy Adobe's expensive products be forced to run that risk?
Sure, I can temporarily set up my new Mac on my home network, and then permanently disable the connection as soon as I've activated my software, but what if I pick up a bunch of Internet garbage in the process? To protect the computer during that period, I'd have to install another copy of virus-protection, and that means paying for it, because my Norton has already used up its installation limit. So, that's extra expense as well as exposure to hazards.
Okay, desperate question - is there any option under any circumstances for a legitimate owner of a legitimate copy of CS5 to activate it without the very real possibility of corrupting a brand new computer?

Rick, I think that only applies to versions prior to CS5. I had a chat with an Adobe rep, who told me that you could activate by phone only up to version CS3. With CS5, that option isn't available any more.
Anyway, it was a storm in a teacup, really, because although my computer automatically detected my home network and connected to it, the activation process was done pretty much immediately. I guess I was only on the Net for less than a minute, (it's impossible to know for sure, because it's done silently). But I was able to disconnect afterwards and I very much doubt any harm was caused in that time.
So, all good.

Problems with pse 7

I have pse elements7 and am unable to access learn more on the introduction of help topics on edit. Can anyone help.

scott... when you create albums in PSE, they are by default set to sync with PS.com. maybe you've created a bunch of albums, or albums that contain a lot of images? check in Edit > Preferences > Backup/Sync to see what albums are set to sync. can you upload photos by logging into photoshop.com directly? this could just be a glitch caused by damaged preference files, too. to reset them: 1. close PSE. 2. on vista, go to c:\users\<YOUR USER NAME>\appdata\roaming\adobe\ on xp, go to c:\documents and settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\application data\adobe\ 3. rename the 'photoshop elements sync agent' folder to something else 4. rename the 'online services' folder to something else 5. go into the 'photoshop elements' folder, then the '7.0' folder and rename the 'organizer folder to something else. 6. start PSE back up and try it again. you may have to reconfigure a couple things in the app hope this helps!

DVDs created in Elements 8 do not work on standalone players

I've been using Elements 7 on Windows 7 before Elements 8 was released.
The source of video is a SD HDD-camcorder and for all the projects I created 4.7 gb dvd-folders, then using a seperate dvd-writing software to burn to discs.
Now since Elements 7 wasn't officially supported I upgraded to Elements 8, but the problem is that the dvds created - although same workflow, do not work on standalone dvd players.
Now, the source is the same, I've tried diffrent dvd-media (dvd+r, dvd-r) and diffrent software for writing dvds, and i've tried four diffrent dvd players and only one player is able to playback the elements 8 dvds.
The dvds are of the type Autoplay-dvd.
I assume given these combinations i've tried - the process of compiling a dvd has changed in Elements 8 as compared to Elements 7 which then outputs less compatible dvd-folders.
Googling around on the term "Opendvd" i found a concept of DVD-V and DVD-R and a knowledge base article on Microsoft hinted that these are diffrent modes of dvd-video or something and I'm wondering if this might be the reason - regardless of it, i've no idea how to fix it so i really need help on solving this issue,
hope somebody can help.

Okay, I took an even more systematic approach to this problem yesterday,
here's what i did (all burning done in cdburnxp),
1. using a dvd+rw disc i burned an older dvd-folder which i knew worked - worked fine in player, this was just to confirm that the player could indeed play back dvd+rw/media.
2. using the same disc i burned a dvd-folder which was created in elements7 - it worked.
3. using the same disc i encoded a project created in elements 7 loaded in elements 8 - it worked
4. using the same disc - i tried once again tried to create a new project added one old video file too see if there might be something wrong with the source video.
At this point i also did some research using the Get Media Info option in premiere, and the framerate for the same file was reported as 29,97 and 25 depending on where on the harddrive i tested it - might be because premiere adds some metadata to it.
5. using the same disc - i reencoded an elements 8 project which didn't work on standalone players, burned the dvd folder - it worked
At this point i was thinking, okay, maybe the Media I did use orignally wasn't compatible, so i gave it another shot in #6 and #7.
6. Using a dvd-r i burned the image from step #5 -burned at 16x - it worked.
7. Using a dvd+r I burned the image from step #5 - burned at 16x - it also worked!
Now the confusion is complete for my part - and I can not find any conclusive reason for the misbehaviour orignally reported.
Seems like either Premiere Elements or the media was having a bad hair day when I originally reported this problem.
