    Mail, Window Menu, Previous Recipients.
Select the ones you don't want and delete them.
If you want to add them to contacts, click that button.

  • Email auto deletion settings.

I have had my email auto delete settings set the same for years.  I have spam folder set to delete in 1 day and my sent email and trash folder to auto delete in 30 days.  None of that is working anymore.  I have to physically delete these folder items myself.  It's not a big problem, just wondering why nothing is working like it use to.

Do you have the account enabled on another device like a smartphone or tablet?  Are you now using an email client on your computer like Outlook, Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail?  Because if you are, the settings on those other devices will override the ones you have set in the Comcast Preferences for the webmail.

  • How do i set an email auto responder for I-mail?

Help, how do I set an email auto responder?
    Thanks,
    Twosheels

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "I-Mail". However, there is no way to set up an autoresponder on an iPad. You'll need to do it through the server. For example, I have Gmail. I can log into Gmail on my computer using my browser and set up an autoreponse in settings.

  • Email Auto Complete

I noticed that when I select " compose email" and type in for example, one letter, lets say "a", that I get a hundred or so suggestions for email recipients, that I have no idea who they are, or where they came from. It looks like most of them are being picked up from either my junk email folder, which I never of course respond to, or else, websites that I may have visited.
I get any email listings that range from Ebay, to Lottery sites, to junk emails that I receive for sexual enlargements (alot of those), to people I have no idea who they are.
Where the heck are these coming from, and how do I stop that from happening ?
My understanding of auto complete, was to just show the people that you at one time responded to or emailed at one time.
This is  not the case here.

And you think that is an acceptable idea.??? To allow every single email received to be added to the auto suggestion drop down box??? Over time I will have more then 10 times more **bleep** emails added then ones that are actually valid. This is so totally ridiculous. Please fix this issue!!!!!

  • How to turn off email auto download?

    Hi All,
I'm running Tiger (10.4) on one hard drive and I'm running Leopard (10.5) on another - working on familiarizing myself and looking for problems. 10.4 uses Mail.app 2.1.3 while 10.5 uses Mail.app 3.5.
With Mail 3.5 - I've been unable to find a way to switch from auto-downloading of emails in favor of "Manual." This "feature" of auto-dowloading emails has always bugged me (a lot). So I use "Manual" downloading with v. 2.1.3. and want the same "sanity" with 3.5.
Secondary problems: I notice that 3.5 cannot verify the certificate of my ISP Pop server and keeps warning me "this may be a fake certificate" and gives me options to "stop" or "connect." Geez, there's no doubt about the SAME certificate when using Mail.app 2.1.3.
Also, it appears that Mail 3.5 is taking "forever" to send (upload) image attachments. I haven't had a chance to really track this down, but it seems like Mail may be converting every .jpg file to .png - which increases file size. I watched the Activity window and saw upload speeds of from 0 to 2.7 kbs - but suddenly the indicator bar jumps ehead and the mail is sent.
Any have any idea how to stop auto-downloading of emails with Mail.app 3.5?
Any further help with those secondary problems will also be appreciated.
    TX in advance.

Thanks Klaus1 - it's interesting to see that Apple designers still have not caught on to the idea that "icons" for important things need to be distinguishable from one another.
That is, the icon for the overall preferences panel (in 10.4) looks a whole lot like the icon used for Mail 3.5 prefs (in 10.5) and it's located in the same spot as overall prefs on Mail 2.1.5. So I naturally thought the icon on 3.5 was for "overall prefs" and ignored it. Thanks Apple, for letting your employees take so many naps during their work shifts.
You get a "helpful" for your post. Now if I can get responses on the slow upload (on DSL) by Mail.app and figure out why it doesn't recognize my (national based) ISP's certificate, I'll be a happy camper.

  • How to turn off email auto forward?

I have a 3G iphone and it's set up to retrieve email from my gmail account. I don't know how, but it has started trying to auto-forward my email to another account (my work blackberry). The emails don't go through so I keep getting a failure to send message for each email I have been receiving. I looked in settings and I don't see anything set up to forward email, I'm not sure how it started in the first place. How can I turn off the auto-forwarding?

The forwarding would not be on your iPhone but on your GMail account. Using a browser, go into your Gmail settings and look at one of the top tabs that says "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" Turn off forwarding there.

  • Submit by email auto reply

I have a form that teachers fill out and send to me. Many of them also fax a copy of the form because they are not sure I received the electronic version. Is there a way I can set it up so that when they press the submit by email that they get an auto-reply message when it is received?

That would be a feature of your own e-mail program, if it is there.

  • S603rd email : auto notification vs. auto retrieva...

well, it seems that lots of people have asked about these features and many have attempted to answer, but as of yet i cannot find a single, coherent description that agrees with empirical testing.
    background:
i'm using the built in mail client on a nokia n95. after setting up a mail account, consider the two options for automatically alerting the user to new emails: Notification, or Retrieval.
RETRIEVAL is pretty straight forward. this works fine on both IMAP and POP3 accounts, and simply sets up the device to poll for emails now and then. this is JUST like a desktop mail client.
NOTIFICATION, on the other hand, seems to be an implementation of either IMAP IDLE or OMA EMN. which is it?
many people have noted that the n-series devices are not intended to replace other devices that provide push email. email notification, however, appears to do just that - though in a broken sort of way.
i have been able to successfully receive push email for a short period of time using NOTIFICATION. this is how it seems to work for me:
    1. it only works with IMAP accounts, so far as i can tell - and obviously i've turned on email notification (i Auto-Update, not "only in home network")
    2. it may require that your IMAP server supports IMAP IDLE or OMA EMN - or possible some other protocol?
    3. i connect to my account, which retrieves headers for new mails
    4. i exit my mail application
    5. i wait a few seconds for the packet connection to drop, then wait a couple minutes longer for good measure
    6. i use gmail on my laptop to send an email to the account used on my n95
    7. within a minute my n95 beeps and i see a notification that i've got "1 new email" on my standby screen (it's a popup, like you get for new SMS messages)
    8. i click "show" or open messaging and i see that i've received an email header without connecting manually to my mail account.
    9. a second mail sent to the account used by my n95 does nothing - push email only works for the first notification, and only works if there is a new email within about 30 minutes of step #4.
can anyone explain this to me? it's possible that having another mail client connected to my imap account will prevent mail notification as well, so if you try testing it, try the test without another client connected.
i've seen some comments online regarding a WAP push notification...perhaps this is also operator specific? i am using AT&T in MA, USA.
does anyone have any information regarding how email notification is supposed to work? what specs were (at least attempted to be) followed when implementing email notification on this mail client?
nokia reps out there - is there a reason why this feature is so ambiguously described? perhaps it's an incomplete feature?
anyone with some time on their hands able to verify my findings?
i look forward to your responses,
    -jared
    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

The problem can be each time manually solved as follows:
The automatic email retrieval must be switched off completely (and the email application closed), and then turned on again. After that the notifications are back. Till the next switch-off...

  • How to have email "Auto-Skip" Inbox and put in Mailbox?

Not sure how to label a "Mail" question... sorry.
I have a few people who send me email ALL THE TIME (like 20 - 30 per day), unfortunately, I cannot delete or block them b/c occassionaly I need to read something they send me.... anyway....
I'm wanting to have their mail automatically skip the inbox, and go to a Mailbox I create for them.  Unfortunately, Smart Mailboxes seemingly should have this ability, but I can't fingure it out.  When I delete an email (that the Smart Mailbox has in it) from the Inbox, it disappears from both, so if I could "Auto-delete" it from the inbox, it would seemingly auto-delete from the Smart Mailbox too.
Oh well... can't figure this one out.

    Hi Mike,
"Smart" boxes and ":Smart" folders don't really contain the documents—just a pointer to where the document itself may be found. When you delete the actual message, the pointer has no place to point, so it disappears.
What you are looking for is a "Rule" that will move these messages to a specific folder.
Rules are set in Mail Preferences > Rules.
    Regards,
    Barry
PS: Regarding 'labeling a Mail question': Mail and Address Book are categorized here as part of the System software, and should be placed in the community for the version of Mac OS X you are using (Snow Leopard), Your question itself clearly indicates it's a "Mail" question.

  • Email "Auto-Check" isn't checking much

    Hello,
The Auto-Check Email feature only works sporadically. I have it set for every 15 minutes, but it often won't check for a few hours. Details:
    * I'm using a .Mac email account.
    * EVERY time I fire up the phone's email app it checks for mail like clockwork. This works great.
    * My Auto-Check problem exists whether I'm using EDGE or WiFi; it doesn't seem to matter. Sometimes just sitting in my house next to my Airport Extreme with full WiFi-bars it will not check for hours... at other times it checks frequently.
Any suggestions? I suspect this is just a software bug that needs some tweaking on Apple's part.
    Thanks,
    --Dave
PS: Other than this, iPhone gets an A+ with a gold star. Fantastic device!
    MacBook Pro 2.33GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

You may want to try a couple of the articles below and see if they resolve your issue. Continue to test using Edge and WiFi if possible and post results. I would also advise if possible create a free Gmail, Yahoo, or other free account the iPhone offers and see if they make any difference in the Auto-check feature. Make sure to email yourself a couple emails and start a clock. Let it run for 20 min and see if any new email shows up automatically.

Only perform the Turn iPhone off and Back on and Reset iPhone. Reset iPhone does not wipe any settings, Simply reboots the iPhone. Then test and see what your mail results are.

  • Typing in email auto deletes every letter as i type, how do I solve this?

How do I stop auto delete that makes it impossible to type in email?

    What is auto delete?
What email client are you using on the iPad?

  • Why does my email auto pull-down list keep fading out after one second (I can put my mouse on it and it comes back, so it is there, just again fades away after 1 second)?

When I go to send an email, many of may emails are saved so when I type in the first letter, a list appears in the auto pull down. However, when I go to click on the address I want, it immediately fades out. I will put my cursor on it and I will see the list again, but only for one second, then it fades away again.
So I have to guess which order they are in and click and hope it's the right one, ha!
I like the option, it just isn't working right for some reason.

That would indicate an issue with the local network, not internet. This can impact devices differently and will likely be more obvious on a streaming only device.
If you are on wifi try ethernet
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

  • Email auto-sync no longer works

I have the HTC M8.  Been running like a champ since I got it in January.  This week, however, it suddently stopped syncing my work and personal email as scheduled.  Work is every 15 minutes and personal is as items arrive.  Only way for me to get email now is to manually sync.  Can't seem to figure this one out.  Anyone have this issue and was able to fix it?

    Hello Michelle,
Thank you for responding to my post.  It appears that the issue is now resolved.  It seems to have been fixed independent of anything I had done to fix it.  I'll have to assume that there was an issue with the Verizon network and Windows Phone platform....
So you're aware of what I did for troubleshoot...
    1. Verified No changes to work or Hotmail servers
    2. No new apps installed/uninstalled
    3. Restarted the phone several times
    4. Uninstalled the Hotmail and work email accounts and re-installed
    5. changed the sync settings several times (ranging from always up to do date to manually check)
    6. Check all other phone settings to find possible changes made without my knowledge...did not detect any

  • Emails auto loading as unread

Out of the blue, one of my email accounts (not icloud) turned all my emails over (600) from read to unread. Any ideas why or how this happened?

    Hello The Robster,
It sounds like you have one email account that is not functioning correctly in Mail. I recommend removing the account first:
Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Accounts.
Select an account, then click Remove (-).
From: Mail (Mavericks): Remove mail accounts
              http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14944
Then re add the account using the Mail > Preferences and click the rather than the to add the account again and re test.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
