Email autosave

I'm new to DROID (and coming from BB) so I hope I'm expplaining this right...
I'm using my aol account through the email "widget". When a call, text message, or email comes in while I'm composing an email the email is lost. My message isn't automatically saved to my drafts. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a setting that I haven't set? Please help. This is costing me a lot of time and frustration as I keep re-typing important emails. Thanks..

I would agree with Eric that there is no such a built-in feature to do this. As suggested by Eric, maybe you can achieve this with some scripts.
If you have any questions about the VBA scripts, you can post in the forum of
Outlook for Developers, our support engineers will be happy to help you there:

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

  • When typing an email, a draft autosave feature locks up my wife's computer. Can it be disabled?

My wife has a desktop computer using XP and Firefox as a browser. The machine seems to lock up for several minutes when "autosave" functions to save the email as a draft. This happens while typing data. In other words, she is not asking for the document to be saved. I don't find anything about this under "options", so I don't know how to disable the function.

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • IMAP Autosaves Email

I have noticed that when I write an email using Mac Mail and Gmail using IMAP it autosaves the email as I type. This is then appears in my Trash bin. How can I stop the autosaving? I have already unchecked the Store draft messages on the server in Mailbox Behaviours and Use IDLE command is checked in Advanced.

Also I have noticed when an email is recieved it goes into Inbox AND All Mail AND Important when using Mac Mail. It doesn't happen in Outlook.

  • Can't print jpg files sent in emails - they're autosaved as HP MediaSmart photos

when someone sends me a .jpg file in an email, it comes thru as HP MediaSmart photo, and the only options are for "play". "rotate", edit or trash. There are no options for printing or saving. And you can't right click. So I can't accept any .jpg files sent to me.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that you cannot print jpg files sent in your emails. With your HP Officejet 9620, on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this issue for you!  I am assuming you have the HP Officejet 8620, as I cannot seem to find a HP Officejet 9620 online. If this is not your printer, please post your printer's Product/Model Number. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number. According to this guide, Using HP MediaSmart Software Photo Features, you should be able to print your photos by doing the following:  For home printing, just select the photos you’d like to print with HP MediaSmart Photo’s drag-and-drop print option. With one easy click or touch, you can add your print-ready photos to your printing queue. To print your photos from HP MediaSmart Photo, click Print Photos on the bottom of the MediaSmart Photo window. Click the album or slideshow from which you would like to print, and then click the add photo icon for each photo you would like to print. With the Print Picture controls, you can zoom in or out on the image, and move the image left-right or up-down to change the composition. If you change your mind about printing certain photos, click and drag the photo to the trash can or click Clear All to remove all the photos from printing. I would also recommend our HP Print and Scan Doctor, if you are unable to print from other programs as well.  Hope this is helpful, and thank you for posting!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Mail Autosaves Drefts of Emails - Can I stop it?

I am using IMAP Gmail and when I'm writing an email, several times it ends up saving emails about every 20 seconds. is it possible to stop it from doing that? I looked in preferences, and saw nothing. any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Sarah.
Be patient and allow the synchronization process with the server complete.
Afterwards, open "In" in the mailboxes drawer to reveal your AOL account's Inbox mailbox.
Select the mailbox in the drawer and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox and select Rebuild.
The account's Inbox mailbox will be re-synchronized with the server and hopefully this will resolve the problem.

  • How can I stop apple mail from autosaving drafts?

    Hello all,
I have finally got myself a new computer and been immersed in the "new" way- my old mac was a bit like a volkswagen beetle, old and cranky but very efficient.
This new interlaced madness is proving to be very confusing on many levels but here I will state one problem I am seeking a solution to:
Apple mail autosaves  a copy of my email reply drafts every 30 seconds in my apple mail draft folder. - This means many copies are saved!!!
    How do I stop this?
The reason I ask this is for the following reasons:
1- If I don't send my reply after 30 seconds I have to manually delete the drafts.- I didn't know this until I was doing a little organising and have realised that I have quite a few drafts of the same message lying around in my google on mac (imap) "all mail" folder and these end up taking alot of space.
2- These then get transfered to my google mail "all mail" folder and end up taking up more space.
3- Manually deleting things from my google on mac "all mail" account is a pain in the *** because I need to delete it into the googletrash on mac and not any other deleting area. (unless I do it directly from gmail) I didn't know this until I had a read through google- the "all mail" archive is another pain in the ***.
I was deleting these messages from my mac "all mail" mailbox and they just magically reappeared into the same "all mail" mailbox, meaning they are downloaded from the server continually- I hate to think how much more that adds to data roaming.
Possible solutions I have tried out:
1- uncheck the "save draft on server" box in mail;preferences;mailbox behaviour (and saving it) - I did this and tried to write a message and there it appeared as each 30 seconds passed
2- change the mac mailbox behaviour settings to gmail Imap settings for apple mail and save these- as above, I wrote a message and it still appeared in my drafts folder, new, message appearing every 30 seconds.
3- uncheck the "use idle command if server suppors it"  box in mail;preferences; accounts;advanced (as someone mentions in another forum) and the message still autosaves.
    HELP!
    1. This seems to be common with most people
    2. I am using gmail and IMAP on mac book pro 2012 10.7.4, lion
    3. This never happened with my volkswagen which was also a mac but from 2006
    4. Some people say this is Imap related. I have only noticed it with this apple mail and have read it has been happening to people since 2008.
    5. Look forward to new solutions

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

  • While composing emails, either a new email or replying to a received email, multiple partial versions of the same email appear in trash folder.  For a lengthy email, e.g. 2 pgs.  I may have as many as 100 partial versions of that email appear in trash.

The Mac has 2 profiles.  When composing an email in mail (gmail account), multiple versions of the same email appear in trash as you are composing the email.  Does not appear to be any specific attributes which trigger this.  When email is sent.  The entire email appears in sent folder, while you still have multiple versions in trash.  This same thing occurs if you create and save a draft email.
This only occurs on one of the two profiles.  Both profiles are administrators.  But this is the secondary profile.
We have compared all settings on the Mac for both profiles, gmail online, etc.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Ick. So it can't just work sensibly? Sensible would be either autosave overwrites previously autosaved versions or all autosaved versions would be deleted when the message is finally sent. Allowing previous message versions to accumulate endlessly might be beneficial to someone, but does not seem like sensible default behavior.

  • How to auto save output with date added to file name, and email the results?

    Hi,
We found a script to capture disk space usage, that automatically places the results into an Excel file. We would like the script to autosave this file to a specific directroy with the date ran as part of teh file name. We would then like these results to
be emailed to us if possible. (also if possible to highlight cell in red that is 5% OR less available disk space would be great)
    Here is what we have:
    $erroractionpreference = “SilentlyContinue”
    $a = New-Object -comobject Excel.Application
    $a.visible = $True
    $b = $a.Workbooks.Add()
    $c = $b.Worksheets.Item(1)
    $c.Cells.Item(1,1) = “Machine Name”
    $c.Cells.Item(1,2) = “Drive”
    $c.Cells.Item(1,3) = “Total size (GB)”
    $c.Cells.Item(1,4) = “Free Space (GB)”
    $c.Cells.Item(1,5) = “Free Space (%)”
    $c.cells.item(1,6) = "Name "
    $d = $c.UsedRange
    $d.Interior.ColorIndex = 19
    $d.Font.ColorIndex = 11

  • Cannot create/reply/forward email on FireFox 15.0.1

I was able to create/reply/forward email on AOL with FireFox 14 but with FireFox 15.0 the reply/forward feature only copied the email to the compose page on the first attempt - I had to end/restart FireFox each time I wanted to reply/forward. With the 15.0.1 upgrade I have lost the ability to create/reply/forward - the compose page works except I cannot issue the send or save commands (thank goodness for autosave). Switching to IE solves the problem but my browser of preferance is FireFox.
This problem only exists for AOL webpage email - yahoo and gmail work perfectly.

Is the problem with Send and Save that the buttons are missing or that they don't do anything?
I don't have an AOL account to test, so I can only offer general advice.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove your aol.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these:
    * While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If the site works correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
    Any change?

  • I've unchecked the pop up blocker but still can't print an email. The print box pops up and immediately disappears and I am unable to print anything. How do I fix this?

I am new to firefox having installed it at the recommendation of a friend. So far -- very frustrated. I need to be able to print email and can't. Also, I use roboform and it appears that the autosave popup doesn't work in firefox. Now what?

If there are problems with updating then do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

  • Disable drafts autosave in Mail.app

I use MobileMe with Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and when I write a new email and then send it I see the same email in my drafts folder (it appears in several minutes after I send it). it's very annoying bug. As I see it — Mail.app autosaves a copy of the email I'm writing to the drafts folder and syncs it to the MobileMe server. Then I send the email, but Mail.app is still in the process of syncing the draft with the server (usually when I email smth huge like photos or videos). That's why, the message (draft) is not deleted from the MobileMe server and when it syncs back I see the draft I sent on my mac again. And I have to delete it manually. Sometimes I get 2 or even 3 drafts of the same message.
The way out is to disable autosave draft function in Mail.app. And to make it work just like on iOS, so that it saves draft if I press "Save draft" or it asks me if I want to save draft when I close the email.
Don't offer to turn off "Save drafts on the server" option in settings, because sometimes I need to continue working on the email from my iPad or iPhone and I need drafts to be synced. But only when I press "Save draft".
    Any ideas?

  • Outllook clients sending partial messages / truncated email body

I am stumped on this one and could use a little help.
Several clients are experiencing partially truncated emails both sent and received.
It is happening on Outlook 2003 and 2010.
The Sent Items folder also shows the truncated email.
For instance, lets say I, Mike, type out a 1000 word email to my friend Jane.  Jane receives an email that might only have a few sentences and it might cut off right in the middle of a sentence.  I check my Sent Items and it only shows exactly what
Jane received which is much less than I typed.  Most of my text has simply disappeared.
I see others with similar issues but it is usually the entire message body that is missing, not partial text missing.
I have opened the sent item using the web interface and it is the same problem.
The Exchange server is 2010 Standard Edition running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and I recently updated all OS patches, Exchange SP3 and Update Rollup 4 for SP3 and my issue remains.
I have documented at least 1 case where the sender and receiver both have Outlook 2010, although most of my users have Outlook 2003.
In addition to all the troubleshooting listed above, I have also used every known to me AV scanning tool such as Combofix, RKILL, TDSkiller, MalwareBytes, HitmanPro etc..  Nothing out of the ordinary found.
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    Thanks
Also, here is a IT admin on another forum with the same issue.  I am copying the text from my post over at experts-exchange
Same here. Exchange 2010 Standard 14.3 build 123.4 in a Win2008R2 SP1 with all latest updates installed.
Also this user in this thread has the same problem: Outgoing emails truncated.
After I read his thread and your thread, I think that it isn't an isolated problem...
Outgoing messages bodies are truncated. When it happens, only few words or few sentences remained. The rest of the typed text disappeared.
Affected messages are shown truncated in Outlook and also in OWA sent emails.
The problem began 2 weeks ago, but now it's spreading.
For now it seems in my company that only Outlook 2003 clients are affected.
At the beginning only 1 person reported me the problem, so I thought it was an isolated client problem. I tried to reinstall Outlook 2003, but it continued. Then I tried to install Outlook 2010 for troubleshooting purpose, and in the last week that person didn't
    reported me any problem.
Then it began to spread. It happened to a different person. And then to another one. At the moment, 5 persons reported it. All these persons have Outlook 2003.
Maybe an automatic Windows update could have caused the problem in the clients?
    It's hard to find out.
It seems that the problem is present in emails that take a long time to write them. Maybe the affected sent email is the first one auto-saved... For testing I disabled the auto-saving (every 3mn) drafts function in the affected Outlook 2003 clients. They reported
me no problem in the last days.
But I told them to always check sent emails and to continue to do that.
I will report as soon as I have new feedbacks.
    Fabio

Turn off "Auto-save messages every XX minutes"
Outlook sends the saved portion, not the entire email.
Note: This partial message is not saved in Drafts, but in memory.
    Outlook 2007:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Options
    2. Make sure you are on the “Preferences” tab.
    3. Click the “E-mail Options…” button.
    4. Click the “Advanced E-Mail Options…” button (about half way down the window).
    5. Uncheck  the first checkbox “AutoSave items every:”
    6. Click OK 3 times to close all the windows
    Outlook 2010/2013:
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click
    Advanced E-mail Options.
Uncheck the AutoSave items every: x minutes check box.
In the minutes list, specify how often you want the program to save your data and the program state.
If you set more minutes in there, you only postpone the issue.
    Turn it off.
Note:  IMHO it is better to lose work and know it, than to think you sent an email when you really did not.

  • Outlook 2013 won't auto-save emails if encryption or digital signature is enabled.

In Outlook 2013, I recently noticed that although I have Autosave enabled, I never get drafts autosaved. The option is located in File > Options > Mail > "Save Messages" section > "[ ] Automatically save items that have not been
sent after this many minutes [3]."
Experimenting with why I have lost 2 long emails after system crashes, I discovered that Outlook 2013 will
only automatically save emails if the Encrypt and Sign buttons are turned off. By default, I enable both in our corporate environment. So I never benefit from auto-save. I've changed the Autosave location and tested various other settings to
no avail. But Autosave always works fine if there's no digital signature or encryption enabled.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a bug?

    Hi,
I just tested on my Outlook 2013 and experienced exactly the same.
This is pretty much by design, actually you may find you are even unable to manually save these emails as drafts if encryption or digital signature is enabled.  I can also confirm some email service providers don't allow saving Encrypted Emails
as drafts either, so this is not a bug but how it works in Outlook.
