Email Button in Publisher Template

Hi Guru's,
I am a newbie and have the following requirement to fulfill in a BEA Publisher 6.5 based template. The portlet is a News template based portlet, in which we want to add a Button called Feedback.
This Feedback button should be added to each news story in the News template based portlet. So anyone reading a news story can click on the feedback button to send feedback to the content administrator.
Please can anyone help me with this and tell me the code which can be added to the publisher's Presentation Template. Do we need to do any change to the Data Entry Template for this?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

How do you want it to function?
Is it sufficient to click the button and have it open an email window where someone can fill out the email and click send? or do you want it to be more "web-form" driven?
If you want it to be email just make an a href with mailto a href="mailto:[email protected]">Button/a>
If you want a form you can make the link go to something like a Studio survey or SurveyMonkey or whatever.
Or you could make a custom coded form.
The News template displays a list of articles in the portlet, that area is controlled by the main page presentation template.
When you click on one of the article links it opens a new window which is called by the news article presentation template.
Depending on where you want the feedback button you'll need to edit one of those.
Hope that helps.

    and i have to add entire item list in email.
    please guide me something for this requirement.
    Thanks in advance,
    jayesh talreja

    Hi Jayesh,
    Its an interesting scenario .Anyways to add an email link to the confirm.jsp all you need to do is to add the below javascript and html to confirm.jsp
    function email() {
               var url='<isa:webappsURL name="/ecall/customer/interaction0.do?interactionType=email"/>';
               var spd=window.open(url,"compareWindow","menubar=no,      directories=no, height=600 width=750, scrollbars=yes, status=no, toolbar=no, top=84, left=212");
               spd.focus();
    <tr>
         <td class="value">
            <a hre="javascript:email()"><b><isa:translate key="cic.prompt.index.mail"/></b></a>
         </td>
    </tr>
    Adding these lines will you a link for email on confirm.jsp on clicking on which you will get a new window with the Cc and all
    the required fields and it is used for sending the mails. But your issue for sending the item data from confirm page is still left.
    I will also try to find out the easiest way to send this data.

  • Email button works in preview mode but not when published to PDF

    I thought I had cracked everything but -  I have set preferences to email results to a specific address. In preview mode this works and outlook is opened with all the details. Once I have published to Acrobat 9 pdf - there is no response to the email button. If I play the SWF file I have the same problem. What am I doing wrong? Using Captivate 5 trial and Acrobat 9.3 Pro.

    In order to email the filled-out PDF with the data in it, you need to be able to save the form.
    Reader only allows you to save an empty form...if you try to save a filled-out form you will lose
    all of the data you entered into it. For this reason, you need one of two options...
    1) Purchase Adobe Acrobat for all of the sales people. Acrobat will allow you to save and submit a
    filled-out form. The steps involved would be:
    - Design your form in Designer and save it as a PDF. Set the properties on the submit button so
    it will submit the entire PDF.
    - Deploy the PDF File to your end users.
    - End user opens the form in Acrobat.
    - End user fills out the form and submits it. The filled-out PDF file will be attached to the
    email.
    2) Purchase Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions. With this product, you can reader-enable your
    document so that users can submit the filled-out form with Acrobat Reader. The steps involved in
    this case would be:
    - Design your form in Designer and save it as a PDF. Set the properties on the submit button so
    it will submit the entire PDF.
    - Reader-enable the form by running it through Reader Extensions Server and enabling the rights
    to save form data.
    - Deploy the reader-enabled PDF File to your end users.
    - End user opens the form in Acrobat Reader.
    - End user fills out the form and submits it. The filled-out PDF file will be attached to the
    email.
    Hope this helps!

  • XML Publisher template. Can't associate to a report

    Hi,
    I made a report with xml output. With it's output I define an rtf template and associate it to an XML Publisher template.
    When I execute this report, I try to choose the template to format the output to excel (in Options button), but lov is empty.
    This is not my first XML Publisher template an I never had this problem, but now I don't know what to do. Any idea?
    These are the steps I follow:
    1- Create a report and setup it on EBS with XML output
    2- Launch the report in EBS and obtain and XML file
    3- Create an RTF template with MS Word, XML Publisher plug-in and XML file
    4- In EBS, XML Publisher Administrator, create a data definition and a template.
    5- In System Administration/Requests I try to associate the template to the report in On Site Tab. The template's lov is empty
    Thanks to all

    Hi,
    It is also mentioned in (Note: 276691.1 - XML Publisher and Concurrent Manager Integration). Anyway, the OP has already provided the solution without referring to any document which should be easy for those who may encounter the same issue.
    Thanks,

  • How to do subtemplate Using XML Publisher Template Builder for Word 5.6.2

    Is it possible to do subtemplate (similar to subreport in crystal report) using XML Publisher Template Builder for Word 5.6.2?. If yes, can anyone explain how to call or import subtemplate from main template?
    Thank you
    V.Piraba

    Hi V. Piraba,
    Here is how it works for me in Microsoft Word 2003. I'm not sure if it will work in Word 5.6.2.
    Creating Subtemplates
    1) Make sure you fill in the “Territory” field when creating Subtemplates. Otherwise there will be no way to import the Subtemplate into another Template. The Import command requires the Territory field to call it from other Templates. You will get a big Java error if you try to import a Subtemplate that does not have the Terriroty field populated.
    Importing Subtemplates
    1) Place the following syntax at the beginning of your XML Publisher template to import a subtemplate (in Oracle Applications)
    <?import:xdo://XDO.[Template Code Name].English.US?>
    Example: <?import:xdo://XDO.WC_SUBTEMPLATE_LOGOS.English.US?>
    2) Use the following commands to importing Subtemplates from local/network drives (outside of Oracle Applications):
    <?import:file:C:/Temp/WC Subtemplate - Logos.rtf?>
    <?import:file:L://Templates/WC Subtemplate - Logos.rtf?>
    <?import: file:///C:WorkChemical.xsl?>
    You can email me at [email protected] if you have further questions.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I edit the default settings for the Email button?

    I saw this question posted for February and as yet still unanswered. So I am now asking it again.
    I do not want to use my .mac account email address in my website. I want it linked to my domain. I have found no specific instructions for changing the default. Also my drag down "Link to" menu in the Inspector does not work.
    Thanks........

    eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    While you can't edit the default email address in iWeb, there is a workaround which may suit.
    In Safari, locate a web page which has iWeb's email button on it (if you've already published a site, one of your own web pages is ideal). Control-click on the button and select 'Add Image to iPhoto Library'. Drag this image from the Media Browser to your iWeb page, select the image, and use the Link inspector to enable it as a hyperlink linking to 'An Email Message'. Enter whatever email address you like in the To box and a Subject for the message if you wish.
    To make things easier, create an iWeb library in iPhoto and add the email button to it for handy access.

  • Where I can get and how to install BI Publisher template for word?

    I'm totaly new in BI Publisher. I read that the easiest way to create RTF templete is BI Publisher template for word. But I don't know where can I get it, and how to implement it MS Word. Does somebody can tell me the answer.
    Thanks, Best Regards.

    Hi Kostya,
    Only two steps:
    Download XML publisher desktop from oracle site and install on your machine.
    Once setup finish then you will able to see one new toolbar in MS word (Template Builder).
    Using that toolbar you can develop and test your report.

  • Does the email button word from a PDF generated report from 9ias?

    Has anyone been able to get the email button from a PDF report generated from 9ias? I try to email the report as an attachment, and the file doesn't attach, and I dont receive anything. If I email a link, it just sends a link that directs you to the report server webpage, but you can't see the file.
    Besides saving the file to the local file system and attaching the file to an email, has anyone been able to get this button to work?

    Hi Jim,
    What command are you using in your link or button?
    For sending report output by email you must use:
    http://machine:port/reports/rwservlet?report=...+server=...+destype=mail+desname=<email_address>desformat=<your_desired_format>from=...
    You can also use CC, BCC, REPLYTO and SUBJECT. See Publishing Reports manual for more information:

    For more advanced emailing options you can also use distribution. See Publishing Reports:

  • Iweb email Button Problem

    I have constructed a website, with iweb, and it's just about ready to go public. I have one small problem however. I used the email button that comes with iweb. I set it up to go to my regular email address. When I first click on the button, not only does the send page come up, but my entire email folder right behind it. All of my messages are then visible. If I click out and back in again the email folder does not reappear. But everytime I turn off the computer, it happens all over again.
    How can I stop this?
    Thank you.
    JRIH

    Hi there JRIH
    When you click on the email icon, your email client will come up because *you* are sending the email through your email client to the address that is on the website. Once you publish the site and someone wants to send you an email through the website, that person's email client will come up -- not yours.

  • Send email button to include subject?

    Greetings:
    When configuring the On Success properties for a button, I
    choose "Send email", and in the Send email to field, I enter
    [email protected]?subject=Test.
    This works fine when previewing; an email pops up with the
    correct recipient and the Subject line appearing as expected.
    However, after publishing to SWF, the email functionality works
    again, but the subject line is blank.
    Does someone know how to include a subject line in an email
    generated by a "send email to" button after publishing?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi again
    Ohhhh, THAT issue. Here is the fix. Captivate expects a full
    string with no spaces. So you can take one of the following
    approaches:
    * Smoosh together, as in
    [email protected]?subject="OrderEntry" (icky)
    * Use an underscore, as in
    [email protected]?subject="Order_Entry" (Better, but still
    icky)
    * Use the coding for a space, as in
    [email protected]?subject="Order%20Entry" (Yay! Best approach)
    Cheers... Rick

  • "Send email" button in Captivate 5.5 quiz

    I am trying to get the results of a completed Captivate 5.5 quiz emailed to me from other people's computers, after they complete the quiz. The Send email button does nothing (no error message and no email). The quiz has been published in each of: PDF, Flash and HTML and the email button does not work in any of them.
    After looking at postings on several forums, it appears that the problem may be a bug in Captivate or possibly a setting that needs to be changed in Flash player. The problem is that if it is necessary to change the Flash player settings, I can't do this on another user's computer, so this will never work.
    In another project, I have used the send email button in Acrobat LiveCycle and that works perfectly well (opens an email message and attaches the information from the current Acrobat file as an XML attachment) - what's the problem with Captivate?
    Steve

    The problem isn't Captivate.  It's the whole concept of using email as a 'reliable' reporting mechanism.
    You are correct that this 'feature' will not work if you're trying to use it from published content in a folder on your local drive or a LAN server unless that folder has been added as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.
    You are also correct that it would be either impossible or impractical to try and change these settings on each end user's PC.  To have any chance of success, your best output format for this would be HTM/SWF/JS and you should be considering delivering the content only from a web server, not a LAN or other type of drive.
    However, even if you do everything right, email reporting (as you found with LiveCycle forms) still has many limitations and should be considered unreliable.  There are too many ways it can fail, and most of those ways are outside your control.  Added to this is the fact that since the solution requires the user to send the email message and not change any data first, it's really NOT all that secure.  You could not hope to use it for courses where serious certification was a must.
    The only times I have used it successfully with Captivate required a custom-coded web page (PHP) on a web server (Apache or IIS) that was used to dynamically send the email after receiving data in an encoded URL.  Basically, the Captivate module would call this web page and the page would add the data from the URL variables to build the email.  However, this is NOT standard Captivate functionality.  I went this route because the client's LMS was only a few weeks away and they needed a very temporary solution.  I would avoid doing something similar again unless there were no other available solution.

  • Send email button only works in preview

    I've been using Captivate 3 and Windows for a long time, but just recently switched jobs, and started using a Mac with a trial version of Captivate 5. I'm trying to make sure everything works on a Mac that works in Windows. I'm getting stuck with getting results from quizzes- I create a basic quiz, in preview everything works well and launches an email with results, but when I publish to swf, email or .exe-  nothing happens when you click on the send email button. I've checked flash settings and republished a bunch of different times/ways- but no dice.
    Is there anyone out there that has experienced a similar issue? Any tips? (and yes, I do know that email results is not optimal, but LMS is not an option, adobe acrobat makes users create an account- which is a deal breaker, and I am currently investigating the internal server option).
    Only 7 days left on my trial- hoping some kind soul can help!

    Ok, fair enough. Let me explain completely what is going on here. I have created a fillable form using Adobe Designer 7.0. At the end of this form I have placed a Submit button which has the following properties:
    On the Object ==> Field Tab
    Type: Button
    Appearance: Raised Border
    Control Type: Submit
    Presence: Visible
    Locale: Default Locale
    On the Object ==>Submit Tab
    Submit: PDF
    Submit to URL: mailto:[email protected]
    everything else on this tab is greyed out.
    I have not changed any of the other tabs.
    Now when you visit the site using Firefox  14.0 all goes well and you are able to submit the form through an email client (the default one on the client computer) which generates an email and sends the pdf as an attachment
    When accessing the site via Internet Explorer 9.0 and Chrome you are able to fill out the fields but when you hit submit absolutely nothing happens and no report is generated. If you need more information please let me know.
