Email counter showing a "-1"

I have an Imap account with gmail and recently my e-mail counter has been showing a negative one / "-1" . has anyone seen this before?
what happens now is that with 1 e-mail in my inbox (usually i archive all my main and my inbox is empty) - the counter will show zero or nothing - but only when i have (2) emails in my inbox will the counter show "1".
I've tried deleting the IMAP account and recreating - no luck.
When i go into the inbox, the inbox has a long number instead of the usual e-mail address.

  • Outlook 2013 folders not showing unread email count for incoming emails

When a new email comes in, it would show up in its folder in bold, indicating it's unread email, which is good, but there is no blue number (unread email count) next to the folder. Outlook repair didn't help. No one else on the network has this problem.
How to fix it so when a new email comes in the unread email count would update itself?

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to all folders (including Inbox)?
Please right click on one folder, and select Properties, and make sure the "Show number of unread items" option is selected. If it is already selected, change it to "Show total number of items", click OK. Then, change it the "Show
number of unread items" again to see the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • Email counter and connection not working correctly after updates

How do I fix the email counter on my dock bar it shows that I have 214 unread and they have all been read?
Also, my email is constantly asking me to enter my password to establish connection this is after I have been working in email and sending and receiving emails fine.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

I did find the problem with the counter.  It had to do with my Gmail account not my other email account.  I still haven't found the answer to the question of my connections to my email accounts are dropping and need me to enter my password though.  I have made sure that the passwords is correct that is entered.

  • IPad unread email count doesn't tally with Microsoft Exchange 2007 email count from OWA.

I discovered that when we first setup the iPad to sync email from Microsoft Exchange 2007 server via ActiveSync, the total number of unread email count tally with the count from OWA. After a few days, the unread email count will be out of sync. The settings for iPad "Mail days to syn": No limit. Mail to show: 1000. iPad iOS: 5.1.1
    We performed the following:
    1.     Compare email by email to verify which are the read email from OWA doesn't sync to iPad. We discovered that some emails read from OWA doesn't sync with iPad even performed forced update. However, if we delete that read email from OWA, it will delete (unread) from iPad immediately after sync.
    2.     Email recall message for successful recalled displayed in OWA but not on iPad.
    3.     Calendar invite message forward as email displayed in OWA but not in iPad.
Is there a bug for Microsoft Exchange 2007 or there is limitation for iPad?
    Any kind expert can advice?
    Thanks.

Can you do setup an unread mail folder that shows all unread mail regardless of what folder it really is in on the iPhone mail program somehow?
    No.
If not, can this be submitted as an enhancement as it makes email use very cumbersome.
Yes. You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Email count not displaying in iOS 8.0.2

So immediately after upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 my email count stopped showing up on the screens icon. I've tried restarting and deleting my email accounts and adding them back and nothing changes. Anyone else experiencing this?

I recently upgraded Mountain Lion to Mavericks. Until now it's been disappointing. I read about these so-called syncing features too late.

  • No new emails count beside the mailbox icon

    Morning.
The dockling displays the red star containig the count of new emails in INBOX, but beside the INBOX icon in Mail.app is no blue circle with the new emails count.
Why that? It's a common IMAP account.
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

I've started to receive emails - be aware that the time stamp on emails in Mac Mail and in iCloud are showing as different. So emails that appear to have just been sent MAY actually be from yesterday and earlier today when iCloud was down.
This is the same email - top example is from Mac Mail, bottom from iCloud webmail - note the different times.

  • Why doesnt my inbox give me an email count when i open an email?

I have downloaded the new software, and now when I go into an email, it no longer shows me the email count at the top...ie 1 of 164.  Has this feature gone away or is there a setting where I can add this feature back to my inbox?

I see the number.  See the upper left here:
UPDATE - To clarify, I see the number of unread email messages remaining in this account.  The "of ... " has been removed from iOS 7.

  • Incorrect email count

Fo rthe past few days my iPhone has been showing that I have 3 emails when in fact my email box is empty. As are trash and drafts. How do I get rid of the incorrect email count?

  • Unopened emails count, Gmail in particular

    Have a 6 months old 4S.
The current unopened emails count, Gmail in particular, is inaccurate. Currently showing 4294967265 unread. Tried everything (restart phone, delete mail account and add, select all messages and mark as 'read' soft reset the phone), nothing worked. This is since I upgraded to IOS 7 last week, which I think is a big mistake
    Need urgent help.

If you click forward, does the content appear temporarily while editing the new message?
If so, this could be a case of Firefox not fully rendering "deeply nested" HTML tags. More background on this problem: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/962233 Embedded images not displayed in Gmail].
I'm not aware of a solution at the moment.

  • Emails not showing up in search

Since upgrading to Mavs I've been having a problem getting some iCloud emails to show up in a search in Mail. I know they are on the IMAP server because when I search for them in the web interface I can find them. I can also search on my MBP using Spotlight and it finds all the emails in the Finder. But searching in Mail only results in the most recent email showing up in the search.
To trouble shoot this I have had Mail rebuild it's index, twice, by going to ~/Library/Mail/MailData and deleting the Envelope Index files and opening Mail. It duitfully rebuilds the index but the messages still do not show up in a search.
I'm curious what my next steps might be, since I'm now wondering what other emails might not be showing up in a search that I don't know about. I'm considering one or both of these these two things: remove the iCloud account from Mail and re-add it, and/or delete the account folder from Finder on the above mentioned path and let Mail re-download everything. Suggestions?
    TIA.

You could try resetting iCloud Mail.
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deslect the box next to iCloud then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data then try a search.

  • Why Outlook email messages show unreadable characters

When you receive a new email in Outlook, you may see unreadable characters in the email message body. This issue could be caused by one of the following reasons on Outlook client side:
The email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus scanner.
This always happens when you are using characters (Such as apostrophes, double quotes, dashes, and ellipsis) supported by the "Smart Quotes" feature. When the email you received is converted to plain text format or a different encoding by a virus
scanner, the character is converted from the ASCII character to a Unicode character, which is not supported on the recipient’s side.
To prevent this issue from happening, we can turn off the “Smart Quotes” Feature in Outlook:
    1. Open Outlook 2013.
    2. Click File > Options > Mail.
    3. Click Spelling and AutoCorrect button.
    4. In the Editor Options window, click AutoCorrect Options button to open the AutoCorrect dialog.
    5. Click AutoFormat tab, and then clear the check box before “Straight quotes” with “smart quotes” under Replace heading.
    6. Click OK.
The issue may be related to font substitution when a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word.
If a change is made to the Web Options in Microsoft Word, registry data under the following key may be configured incorrectly:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
This problem has been seen to occur when the Latin string value under the \Fonts key was empty (no value).
We can check the Web Options setting in Word via:
    1. Start Word.
    2. Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    3. Scroll down to the General section, click Web Options button.
    4. Switch to Font tab.
To resolve the problem, we need to delete the \Fonts registry key. To do this, please follow:
    1. Exit Word.
    2. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type regedit and press Enter.
    3. Navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Internet\Fonts
    4. Right-click the Font key and select Delete.
    5. Click Yes and exit Registry Editor.
The sender used an e-mail program that did not mark messages with a language encoding (character set), or marked messages with an incorrect encoding setting.
In this case, we will see unreadable characters when we open the received message in our Outlook. For example, European regional characters (like German) require UTF-8 encoding protocol. So if the encoding in your environment is set to ASCII, the regional
    characters will not be available.
To resolve this issue, we need to change the encoding in Outlook to which will display your message correctly.
    1. Double-click to open the message you received.
    2. Click Actions button in the Move group under Message tab.
    3. Click Other Actions > Encoding.
    4. Click More and select the correct encoding setting for the email.
    5. After you finish reading the message, close the message, and click Yes button to save changes to the message.
When we send an email with Outlook, we can set Outlook to automatically select encoding for outgoing email messages to increase the possibility that the recipient receiving the message will see all the characters rendered properly, even if they run older
e-mail programs. By default, Outlook 2013 will automatically select an optimal encoding for outgoing e-mail messages. We can change the settings here in Outlook 2013: File > Options > Advanced > International Options section.
Something you may need to know when you set the encoding settings:
    * The Unicode (UTF-8) character enables the complete range of characters on all computers. It’s the official IANA code for the UTF-8 character encoding.
    * Western European (ISO) and Western European (Windows) character set can be read by almost all computers.
    * If you are using a language other than English, you must choose the correct character set for that language, or the characters you need will not be displayed correctly.

The "problem" is not really a problem. I send and receive emails fine. But the in the panel between the Inbox (message queue) and the reading pane this is displayed:
From Mozilla Support Forum <[email protected]> (white star)
Subject Toad-Hall posted an answer to your question "Why do received email messages show they are addressed to an address other than my own?"
Reply to [email protected] (white star)
    To [email protected] yellow star)
cfortso@gmail is the address of one of my contacts.
This glitch is not really bothersome, I just can't imagine why it happens.

  • When I attach images to an email they show as the image and not an icon.  Is there a way to make the attachment an icon?

When I attach images to an email they show as an image and not an icon.  Is there a way to have them attached as an icon?
When I send attachments this way some people can't save them.   They can see them but not save them.
    Any ideas?

They are received as attachments, i.e. icons. What you see is the real image on your disk, and only if small enough to be displayed. Otherwise, they are small icons inserted in the text.
Additionally, when you place an image in the message, you will find an option in the lower right corner, otherwise absent. Use it, if need be.

  • Unread email count Is 3900 after upgrade to IOS 8.1.2

AFter upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 my unread email count jumped to 3900 even though there is no email on my phone and none on the server. Is there a way of clearing this count?

    Hi, jaff067.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you have an unread message counter, but your mail account indicates all mail is read.  This usually means that you have an additional mail account setup.  Check to see if you can access this account or change mailboxes and clear the unread via the steps below.

  • How can I get my email to show on two machines without losing my folders.

My husband and I just got new laptops. We each have two email accounts -- one gmail and one comcast. We also share a third gmail account. With all four computers (the old two and the new two running), for some of the accounts email only shows on one or another machine not both. It turns out my husband had the shared account set up as IMAP and all the others, including my set-up of the shared account are set-up as POP. In researching, it looks like we need to switch to POP. I tried it on the shared account and my emails up to about two weeks ago showed up. Before I do anything with our individual accounts, I want to be sure we won't get a bunch of duplication and that I won't lose all of the folders I have saved. The old machines are Vista and the new Windows 8.1. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Thank you so much. This is my last step moving to my new computer and I am weary of solving the problems. To clarify ----
If I have my email set-up so that I have a filter that automatically moves a new email to a local folder, once I get it, it will then go there and I can access it even if I'm not connected to the network? The local folder and sub-folders are on my hard drive and the [email protected] is on the server?
