Email event limited to certain senders

Is there a way to trigger an email event for only particular senders?  I am not sure how the "Scan for text" works, if I can treat it just like a regular expression or use logical operators or anything.  I highly doubt it.  So is the only way to limit triggering the email event to certain senders is to create multiple email events, one for each sender?
This is for 5.3.1

Am email client such as the Mail application cannot block the download and receipt of messages from a certain sender or email address at the incoming mail server for an account. This can be done at the incoming mail server for an email account only but you can create a rule in Mail to automatically delete messages received from a particular email address when downloaded by Mail.
A problem with spam is that spammers are constantly changing/tweaking their methods including changing the email address used to appear as the sending email address.
Using the Bounce feature on spam is a waste of time since spammers do not use a valid sending or return email address (the reason for a bounced message being returned as an invalid email address) and if they do use a valid email address is due to a valid email address being randomly pulled from a spammers list of valid email addresses (which is constantly being changed) or due to a spammer "taking over" a Windows PC being use to send bulk spam mailings for the spammer without the Windows PC user's knowledge. If a bounced message does not come back as an invalid address, in either circumstance you are bouncing a message back to the valid email address for some unsuspecting person who has no idea what is going on which does you absolutely no good whatsoever which is why you should not use the Bounce feature with spam.
Regarding spammers using Windows PCs and zombies to send bulk spam mailings, check my reply in this thread and included link.

  • Increasing Email Size Limits for some users

    Hi All,
    For some users (management) i needed to arrange that they are able to send bigger files then the default 10MB limit to each other.
    I used this procedure to do so,
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/increasing-email-size-limits-for-your-high-profile-users-in-exchange-2010/
    In a nutshell:
    Set Global Transport Org. Config to 200MB
    Set Transport Send and Receive connector to 200MB
    Created a Distribution group adding the MT members and me (for testing)
    Created a transport Rule for the 10MB limit for all users and exception for the distribution group
    (Believe me, i am not happy with the 200MB size limit)
    All seems to work but i have one issue that i cannot tackel or maybe it is by design.
    -Managemant can also send big files to all
    users who do not have this privelige, this is not someting i want, sending 100MB+ attachments to over 150 users.
    Is this by design or do i mis something?
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hi RonGielgens,
    Attachment size in exchange has to be set on
    Global settings
    Connectors (send and receive connectors)
    Mailbox
    The global settings will affect all the others. of course connectors will affect specific servers and mailbox one user. You have to set the global to the absolute max size you want to allow in your organization.
    after you do this you will need either to set the 10MB on each mailbox
    Get-Mailbox | Set-Mailbox -MaxSendSize 10MB -MaxReceiveSize 10MB
    Then change the limit on specific mailbox
    or another way is to create a transport rule that will reject the email if the attachment size it > 10MB unless the sender/recipient is the required user or group.
    so basically create 2 transport rules
    1. reject messages sent to anyone with attachment > 10mb unless the recipient is userX
    2. reject messages sent from anyone with attachment > 10mb unless the sender is userX
    Normal case it should not allow.
    Thanks, MAS

  • Email Event Generator - Error

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem in reading the email and its attachments. Basically I get excel attachments from a third party and some message in the body of the mail. I need to read the email body in the jpd ( process ) and archive the attachments of the mail in a location . To achieve this I use the email event generator to archive the attachments and to call a process to read the body of the mail.
    Steps I followed -
    1. Created a mail account with my name on the mail server.
    2. Created a new email event genertor with all the required parameters in WLI console. configurations being
    Server Protocol POP3
    Channel Name /EmailEventProcess/SampleStringChannel
    Hostname ABC.ENERGY.LOCAL
    Port Number 25
    Username TestSS
    Password ********
    Attachments Archive
    Polling Interval 1 min
    Read Limit 10
    Post Read Action Archive
    Archive Directory C:\Cache
    Error Directory C:\Cache
    Description
    Publish As weblogic
    3. created a channel in the project in weblogic workshop -
    <channel name ="SampleStringChannel" messageType="string" qualifiedMetadataType="eg:EmailEventGenerator"/>
    4. In a process project - took the option
    subscribe to a message broker channel and start via an event (through email)..
    code :
    * @jpd:mb-static-subscription message-metadata="{x1}" channel-name="/EmailEventProcess/SampleStringChannel" message-body="{x0}"
    public void subscription(java.lang.String x0, com.bea.wli.eventGenerator.EmailEventGeneratorDocument x1)
    //#START: CODE GENERATED - PROTECTED SECTION - you can safely add code above this comment in this method. #//
    // input transform
    // parameter assignment
    this.testString = x0;
    this.testEmailEG = x1;
    //#END : CODE GENERATED - PROTECTED SECTION - you can safely add code below this comment in this method. #//
    I tried printing out the testString , but i get some strange error.. below is the error -
    <Jan 22, 2010 12:19:50 PM CET> <Error> <WLI-Core> <BEA-489203> <Error while publishing message: com.bea.wli.mbconnector.email.EmailConnMDB$EmailConnectorException: connect to store failed>
    I checked the mail box , when i send test mails , I can see the mails in the inbox..
    Can anyone help me to overcome this error /
    thanks

  • Problems with body email using Email Event Generator

    Hi I need to start a workflow when an email is received by a email account. In
    order to do that, I built a Email Event Generator that uses the next channel:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <channels xmlns="http://www.bea.com/wli/broker/channelfile"
              channelPrefix="/cgr"
              xmlns:eg="http://www.bea.com/wli/eventGenerator"
              xmlns:dp="http://www.bea.com/wli/control/dynamicProperties"
              xmlns:oagpo="http://www.openapplications.org/003_process_po_007">
         <channel name ="Rendicion" messageType="none">
              <channel name ="RendicionEmail" messageType="xml"
              qualifiedMessageType="oagpo:PROCESS_PO_007"
              qualifiedMetadataType="eg:EmailEventGenerator"/>
         </channel>
    </channels>
    I'm using "Suscribe to a Message Broker" oprtion to start my work flow. That option
    uses two input variables: com.bea.xml.XmlObject and com.bea.wli.eventGenerator.EmailEventGeneratorDocument.
    * @jpd:mb-static-subscription message-metadata="{x1}" message-body="{x0}"
    channel-name="/cgr/Rendicion/RendicionEmail"
    public void subscription(com.bea.xml.XmlObject x0, com.bea.wli.eventGenerator.EmailEventGeneratorDocument
    x1)
    //#START: CODE GENERATED - PROTECTED SECTION - you can safely add code
    above this comment in this method. #//

    this.body = x0;
    this.emailXML = x1;
    //#END : CODE GENERATED - PROTECTED SECTION - you can safely add code
    below this comment in this method. #//
    That configuration only functions when the email has plain text body containing
    a xml structure. Other waise that error is showed by the server:

  • Email accounts limits (size)

    Hi all can somebody tell me how big can an email account be?
    I might jump in business Catalyst soon and become a partner
    It seems to be a great solution for a freelancer like me.
    But i find it hard to find basic answers like how big can a email account be
    (For people who dont clean  their mailboxes often)
    Sorry for my lousy English...
    y.d.

    I don't remember it being clearly documented either-- but I'm guessing the amount of space for emails can't be more than the storage allotment for your BC plan.
    If you do plan on getting into BC for freelance I highly recommend using Google Apps for your email. You can host it at your domain and it's pretty affordable if you want just a few email addresses.  The price you pay is definitely worth the stability and features you get with Google Apps.
    In my experience, BC email in the past was somewhat unreliable.  From what I've been told by some clients they rarely have issues anymore with it but BC does have some downtime on occasion and email is affected for a short period of time.  You won't lose mail-- it will just be delayed.
    Sorry I don't have an answer on email storage limits but I will always recommend using Google Apps for your hosted email for reliability and features... if your business depends on email-- go Google.

    In this case, the SMTP domain is the same as the AD domain.  If the wrong domain were configured then the connection would never work, as opposed to sometimes work.

  • Email Event Generator

    Hi
    I am using WebLogic 8.1 sp3 and WebLogic Workshop.
    I am trying to use an Email Event Generator. I selected the IMAP server protocol. I provided invalid connection information in hope of generating errors just so I know the Email Event Generator is kicking off. However, I do not see any error information in the WebLogic console window or in any log files.
    Can someone please direct me to where I should be looking for these errors or how I can be sure that the Email Event Generator is polling correctly?
    Thanks,
    David

    message type must be set to "string"
    thus correct channel definition is:
    <channel name="bulkPaymentsEmailChannel" messageType="string" qualifiedMetadataType="eg:EmailEventGenerator"/>
    null

    The iPhone and iPad are unable to read RMS (restricted email) because iOS is not RMS enabled.  GigaTrust has an application (http://www.gigatrust.com/ios-devices.shtml) for the iPhone and iPad that will allow RMS protected emails to be viewed and created.  The GigaTrust App is available for a free download from the iTunes App Store but there are server side components that must be provided by GigaTrust and require a connection license.

    Hi,
    Configured an email event generator that listens on a mailbox. The message type is set to string and no filters. All emails sent from outlook is published successfully to message broker channel and the subscribed by a process. Whereas for emails sent from any browser email like yahoo, gmail gives "Null pointer exception - cannot publish message". Anybody have encountered this error?
    Also is it possible to configure the email event generator to archive the emails to another folder in the mailbox rather than to a physical directory?

    The option selected is correct.  A few possibilities:
    1. Log out of Tidal Client, then sign back in
    2. Do you access Tidal via a locally installed client or go through Citrix as a published app? If so, then at times the Citrix user profile gets corrupted preventing users from seeing all their entitlements, and needs to be fixed.

I had a quick look at the types of issues that MAC users of MS Outlook are reporting back and conclude they are many and various - eniugh in fact to confirm what I already suspected - that a MAC implementation fo MS Outlook is unreliable and further confirmation that the way Microsoft and Apple have proceeded has resulted in customers to both like me being forced to choose between the two - rather than helping us work with both platforms in an intregrated way. It is a complete disgrace on both companies.
