Email PDF with button

Hi all,
I have a form that wroks perfectly in Acrobat but not in Reader.
The form has a button that when clicked it locks all the fields & opens up a new email window with the PDF attached to it, this is how it works when used in Acrobat.
The problem its with the user of Reader, when they click the button, the fields are locked but no email is sent and no new email window opens.
I have Reader extended the form & selected all the options, but still that doesnt help.
Can you please assist.
Regards,
Andile

Can you send me the form so I can try it here?
Send it to [email protected] and include a description of your issue in the email please.

  • Email PDF with a different filename

Is it possible to submit the PDF via email with a different or custom filename? For example, if I am entering data in a file called myform.pdf, I click a submit button to send the filled pdf form via email, I would like the name of the PDF form to be something like COMPANYA.PDF where COMPANYA comes from a text field I have on the form.

    Hi Kimberly,

  • ID CS6 Interactive Pdf with buttons is coming up blank

Please help. I am making a resume after recently graduating college. I have made the entire resume other than the "portfolio" page. I wanted to make the page show small images of my work, than when you roll over them they expand to show a larger image. I wanted to do this to show my progression with InDesign to potential employers, however, when I save the entire resume as an interactive .pdf the last "portfolio" page shows up blank every time. I have trouble shooted the process dozens of times to the point I want to pull my hair out. I made another new file separate from my resume which shows a white page. I put two pics only and when I previewed the buttons they worked fine, just like on my resume, but when I export the simple two pic document to an interactive .pdf the page comes up blank or black. The furthest I have made it is to have the smaller pics show up and when I hovered over them the pointer turns to a hand but no larger image shows up. I know it is in the exporting process cause I can get the buttons to work perfectly in the preview. WHAT am I doing WRONG??? Thanks.

    Hi there,
Do you have any screen grabs of what is going wrong?
From what I can understand, the first page is your standard text resume and then on the second page you have your portfolio.
But your portfolio is not working. The rollover to expand to show a larger image may be the cause of your issue. I've had tear my hair out moments also with trying to do this.
You could try to have the button images along the top or side of your second page and then get them to load into a larger frame below or to the side of the buttons. You can do this using Multi State objects. This may get you out of the bind you're in now.
To get a Multi State object to work in an interactive pdf you need to export the MSO (Multi State object) to swf and then add that swf to your interactive pdf export that and then you should be in business.
I'm going to knock up a basic mockup of one and put a screen grab in the reply to better explain this.
I've got the buttons up on top, you click on these to move through the portfolio of images. I've got five you may have more or less.
Select all the images and add them to the media panel to make a MSO.
Select each of the buttons and in the buttons panel add an action to go to a state, do this for each of the buttons.
Export the MSO doc as a swf, create a new doc (same dimensions) add the swf and then export as an interactive pdf (make sure to set a poster image in the media panel otherwise you'll get a weird grey flash symbol in your pdf)
Open the pdf and test to make sure it's what you want.
Obviously your portfolio / resume will look a hell of a lot better than this, this is just a proof of concept.
Here is a link to the files I used as a test.
    WeTransfer
    Hope this all makes sense.
    John.

  • Interactive PDF with Buttons

    Hello,
I am rather new to the whole world of Indesign CC but have been slowly learning more and more about its features. I have ran into an issue that has been frustrating me for the greater part of today.
A few weeks ago I created an indesign cc document that took the form of a .pdf case study. I then added clickable buttons to the bottom of the page so that an individual could click the button and go directly to a URL that was linked to the button. It worked perfectly when I exported the file to a .pdf and sent it around the office for draft approval.
However, today I opened the original file to make a slight revision to the title. Clicked save and then exported it to a pdf as I had done so many times before.
    The buttons have disappeared.
I have combed the web looking for answers and have not been able to find an answer to the question of: "Where did my buttons go?" I did not change any settings. I did not change anything in the export window. I did everything as I had done previously where the buttons were visible and worked with the rollover.
I noticed the interactive drop down menu on the exporting window. Two options are available: Do not show - or show appearance (which shows where the buttons are, but they are not interactive, are not clickable, and do not roll over).
    Please help.
    Sincerely yours,
    Mark

You need to ask InDesign questions in that forum InDesign
This forum is about the Cloud as a delivery process, not about using individual programs
If you start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

  • Email pdf with hyperlink

    Hi,
I am trying to email an optimized pdf file with hyperlinks. The links work and show up when I am in Acrobat (version - Prof. 9.0), but when i email the pdf they do not show up in the email. My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email (so u don't have to actually open any programs) with the links active, so when reading the email you can move your cursor over it and the link will show as active. Hope that makes sense, in essence it's basically an email blast, but for some reason my links aren't showing up in the final email. I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    >My ultimate goal is for the entire pdf page to show up in the email
Impossible to assure that with all users. Many may have their email client set to show it as an attachment only.

  • Business Server is email pdf with a .dat extention after 8398280

Customer applied 8398280. If they save and change the extention to .pdf, then they can view the file just fine. Can anyone tell me how the name of the file with the extenion is being controled, and of course how to fix this so it gets sent with a .pdf extention?
    thanks in advanced

I am experiencing the exact same issue...did you resolve this one? Hss anyone tried to reregister the report with a different name? Or recreating xml templates?

  • Interactive PDF with buttons printing blank pages

    Hi
I am creating interactive pdf's using indesign cs6 on MAC which have buttons that show and hide other buttons when clicked, i have checked printable for all of the buttons as i want the buttons to be visable when printed.
When i export it everything is fine and all works well and when i print the document from the MAC it prints fine but when i come to print it from the PC it prints blank pages. This is a issue as these documents will be printed from a PC, I have tried different PC's to see if it was mine that wasnt working but the result is the same, printing blanks.
Is there any way to overcome this problem?
    Best Regards
    Rob

On the Mac go to File>Export and choose pdf like you normally do.
With the pdf settings that work make sure you click the "Save Preset" button.
Exit out of the PDF export dialog box and go to
    File>PDF Presets
    And Define them
From here select your Preset that you just saved and Save it to the hard drive.
Load this PDF Preset into the PC settings.

  • Download pdf with button click??

    hi again guys,
i have a pdf in my public_html and a button on my site that links to a PDF but when i click the button it opens the PDF in a browser window,

I believe you'll need to use the FileReference class, and its download method.

  • Email pdf form from website to anyone with out pop-up email

    Hi
I need some help with a pdf interactive form I've created for clients to fill in and email clicking a button on the form. My client would like this form on his website so his clients can fill it in and email him back. This works fine if the client has pop up email but most don't. Does anyone know if this can be done so that anyone can send the form by email by clicking a button on the form?
Please let me know if you can help.
    Thanks
    Maggie

The link was probably automatically generated by Acrobat because it
identified the email address in the page.
You should create your own link (or button) and set its action as "Submit a
form" and as the URL enter:
    mailto:[email protected]
(of course, replace the dummy email address above with your own)

  • I cannot send a Pages document, Word format via email from my ipad if it has a picture in the the doc.  I can send a Word doc if it does not have a pic in it or pdf with a pic.  Any thoughs why a word doc with a pic in it won't email in Pages?  thanks

I cannot send a Pages document, Word via email if the doc contains a picture.  If I email a Pages doc without a pic in Word format or pdf with a pic it with go through to sender?  Not sure why Pages won't send Word doc with a picture in it.  I check the security on the email recipient and the email doesn't get blocked or throw in the junk box?
    thanks,
    drainguy41

If you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, Save As… has returned to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key. But you don't really "save" as other file types, you translate & export as Word or RTF or text or PDF & that is easily done by going to File > Export or Share > Export.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.

  • Problem with Buttons/Form Fields in Acrobat PDF when created in InDesign CS4

So I have been working for quite some time on an interactive form for an internal client at my job. It has two major components, one is the side bar navigation, which I created using buttons in InDesign which link to bookmarks in the document. The second aspect is that I also created "check boxes" accoring to this video: http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/cs4/articles/lrvid4434_ds.html
    I have two major issues:
    1. Whenever I try to convert my boxes to form fields in Acrobat it will not recognize them unless I save out 4 pages at a time (rather than the whole document).
    2. I then have to combine the document and get multiple sets of bookmarks, and some bookamrks are corrupted (not working properly). Even when I try to convert the whole document some of the buttons are corrupted.
UGH tired of this project, I am really bastardizing the whole thing to get it done, but want to figure out the problem as this is an ongoing document that we will be using over and over again in future years.
I am attaching the pdf file--this is a pieced together one (saved out 4 pages at a time) (which I did do some fixes to to get buttons to go to proper locations) and the original indesign file (partial file due to size).
    PLEASE OH PLEASE HELP ME!

Acrobat's Form Wizard is good but not perfect when creating form data from a PDF. I have never encountered Acrobat not able to finish the process of creating all form fields, but have encountered very slugish performance afterwards when there was a lot of forms, buttons, and other elements within the pages. And I would say, from your attached PDF, it is pretty heavy with content. I am going to suggest an idea, but I have not tested this to see if it would work.
In InDesign, create a layer for your navigation tabs, and a layer for your text with the check boxes. Create two PDFs from ID, one PDF with just your-nav tabs, the second with just your text with check boxes. In Acrobat, perform the Form Wizard on the second PDF and see if this will finish, the idea here is to reduce the cllutter for the Form Wizard to finish. If it does, you can merge the first PDF as a layer with the second to have a completed document. Again, I have not tested this theory.

  • Email link to a pdf with text anchor on web site

I'm trying to create an email with a link to a web site's pdf file with a text anchor. I want the link to take the reader not just to the pdf file but to a certain location in the pdf file. I'm creating the pdf with the text anchor in Indesign 4. It's not working. Is this even possible?
    Many thanks, Lorraine

See also http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/help/sutra66019.html for a full discussion. But of course it all depends on the application you are trying to open the PDF with -- not all of them may support these parameters.

  • Problems with Long Interactive PDFs with Extensive Interactivity via Buttons and Hyperlinks

I have inherited a project which requires the creation of large interactive pdfs with lots of buttons and hyperlinks. I am having continuing problems with buttons not working and long periods of wasted time as attempted exports fail.
    Background:
The largest books range from 264 MB to 411 MB – (764 to 1024 pages).  Per book, the maximum number of buttons on each page is 16, linking separate files (subsections) in the book via text anchors.  The buttons are created using Master Pages which are set for each file (subsection) in the book.  50% to 60% of the pages in each file (subsection) will also be referenced as 2 hyperlinks.  One is the source page hyperlink on each workflow and the second is a listing on the source page as a possible navigation path. I have created hyperlink destinations for each page which is used to generate the source and navigation hyperlinks.  With 2 hyperlinks representing 50%-60% of the pages - that means the largest book contains a maximum of 1200 hyperlinks.  Each file (subsection) also has it’s own separate TOC and the bookmarks that are created  (optionally) during the TOC creation process.   As currenlty formatted, the book is primarily images of workflows which mean 50%-60% of the pages contain pdf images.
    Several questions:
    1.  How do I get my buttons to work consistently?  There is nothing worse than working hard and then ending up with faulty product.  I have been thinking about combining all the files into 1 document per book.  Then I could change the buttons to objects, add a hyperlink over each one and set them for a specific hyperlink destination.  Can I do that if the buttons are on Master Pages?  Can InDesign handle a document with 1024 pages?    I can't fix the problems in Acrobat later because it would mean 1024 fixes for just 1 button correction.
    2.  How do I stop InDesign from freezing when exporting these large pdfs?  It seems to wait until the final steps to crash which sometimes means a 4-6 hour waste of time per export.
    3.  Are we making a mistake using pdfs as our workflow images?  I'm not pleased with the quality of the images we have and wonder if we switched to another image format if this would improve the results.   Would it be worth the effort and relinking?  I have been reading different information on what the preferred source image format is for InDesign.  One article I found yesterday says using pdf images is a problem.  Another site said the Photoshop, TIF and JPG are preferred but PDFs were also acceptable.
    4.  Do I need to propose scrapping InDesign as the source of the project?  If so, what application can better meet my needs?

Those are the limitations you have to put up with.
Apple doesn't follow the PDF spec. It chooses which PDF features it will support.
As to the version number (v5 or v6 or the new multimedia features in v9), there is different support in different versions of Reader/Acrobat as the product has developed. You just need to post a message to downloaders that they need to view the file in Adobe Reader version X or above to get the best experience.
Other industry standards face the same problem: How can you add new feature like multimedia? You can't always be backwards compatible.
