Email SMTP Port Number

Hi,
When im testing my application for atg store, on order placing a mail is sent to my test mail Id.
The test mail Id is provided by organization does not have a port number details mentioned due to which im getting below error:
SOURCE EXCEPTION:
atg.service.email.EmailException: javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost, port: 25;
nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
at atg.service.email.SMTPEmailSender.openConnection(SMTPEmailSender.java:762)
at atg.userprofiling.email.TemplateEmailSender.doSendEmailMessage(TemplateEmailSender.java:2164)
at atg.userprofiling.email.TemplateEmailSender.doSendEmailMessage(TemplateEmailSender.java:1953)
at atg.userprofiling.email.EmailRequestThread.run(EmailRequestThread.java:108)
Is there any way by which i can eliminate giving the port number OR Is the Port number mandatory?
Please provide a solution for the same.

Check the configuration of /atg/dynamo/service/SMTPEmail component and specify proper values for emailHandlerHostName, emailHandlerPort, username, password. By default emailHandlerHostName is configured to localhost and port is set to 25 which is default for SMTP. If you do not know these you can get these details from your mail administrator who has setup your mail-id. You would also need to specify the username and password if your administrator has not allowed for making anonymous connection to the mail server.

  • SMTP port number resets to 25 after every reboot

Because of our ISP, we have to use a non-standard SMTP port number to send via our mail server. This works just fine when I change the SMTP port in the Mail program. However, every time I reboot my MacBook, the port is reset back to 25, and I have to manually go in and change the port number again. This is of course really annoying. Does anyone have a fix for this problem, and has anyone else experienced it? Thanks for any help!

No, you wouldn't see any error messages, because as far as the system knows, it is saving those changes. But if the file is corrupt, those changes don't stick when you quit Mail, so it reverts to the default.
Since you have a POP account, quit Mail, remove the com.apple.mail.plist file from Home/Library/Preferences, then restart Mail and setup the account(s) again and Mail will find and "import" the existing email folders. Then setup your SMTP port preferences again, quit Mail and restart to see if they stick. If they do, you can delete the old com.apple.mail.plist file.

  • Change the SMTP Port number in OIM

    Hi All,
I have an email server that its SMTP port is 135.
    My question is:
How can I change the SMTP Port from 25 to 135 in OIM? Because the notificacions are sent by Port number 25
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ariel

I actually don't have any other ideas on where this could be configured. I think that the port can be changed if you send emails programmatically but if you use the default OIM email system I don't know any other place where this could be configured.
Have you tried opening an SR with Oracle?
    Best regards
    /Martin

  • How to view and change SMTP port number in new account setup in "Mail" 10.6

When I try to set up and test a new email account addressing an SMTP server that seems to e using a nn-standard port number, how on earth can I even look at the port number assigned by default to a new account in Apple Mail 10.6 setup ?
I might have to trial and error different port numbers but when Mail tries to test the connection to the SMTP server after I enter its address, it just spins and hangs up. I suspect the reason is a wrong port number. How do I change that outgoing port number in Apple Mail ??
There seems to be no obvious way the program will let U do it or even let you view the port it assigns in apparent error.

there is no way to change the smtp port during the original account creation. you can usually wait Mail out if it's spinning its wheels at this point. I've had to wait about 15-20 minutes a few times. eventually Mail lets you through even if it fails to connect to the smtp server. then, once the account is created you can edit the smtp server and try a few different ports and settings. that's done in system preferences->accounts. click on teh smtp server at the bottom and select 'edit smtp server list". then in the popup click "advanced".

  • Email Outgoing Port Number - Verizon Problems

    Hello
I'm using the Apple Email within 10.4.11 - I have all the correct passwords, outgoing, & incoming data for Verizon:
Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.verizon.net - Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net - Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465
I tried deleting my old comcast account, I tried adding/editing/revising the outgoing data to port 465 - It somehow continually reverts back to Port 25 repeatedly. I can recieve, but cannot NOT send. Verizon Tech support is totally useless.
Perhaps there is a .plist file that should be deleted?
    Any ideas?
    Thanx
    Mike

Hey BD nice to see you ...
Believe it or not, (and you know me - I'm very thorough), this is seems to be the ONLY solution:

  • Email setup: cannot change port number

So I created an account here just to express my frustration with how blackberry handles email setting. My grilfriend got a blackberry just because it's free (big mistake, i should have told her to take an iphone instead). Now she wants to check her email from the device. Her school email server uses a non-standard port number (google apps email uses port number 993 for imap server). I googled and followed the trick to enter a wrong password so that I could be taken to the advanced email setting screen. However, even in that screen I only have the option to manually enter the email server (imap.google.com). There is no option to enter the port number. It looks like that option existed in the past but RIM has now assumed that every email server uses standard port number (110, 113) and totally removed that option. This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Why don't you let us manually enter the port number when the system fails to find the right one? All other email clients let us do that (outlook, thunderbird, and heck even iphone). This is epic fail from RIM here.

Thanks Xavier. You  brought me very close to the answer.
Now only one trouble is there.
I can maintain entries in the table, and it will take host and port from here.
    Port is okay.
But for load balancing, sometimes my host is like this:
    abc1234.xyz.com.sg
My actual host which is doing load balancing is : abc.xyz.com.sg
So if incoming URL is like this: abc1234.xyz.com.sg:100, I want it to change to abc.xyz.com.sg:200.
All seems well, but there is this line of code: '
        LOOP AT httpurlloc ASSIGNING <httpurlloc>.
If specified, match string against (possible wildcard '*' in) table.
CHECK application IS INITIAL OR <httpurlloc>-applicatn IS INITIAL OR application CP <httpurlloc>-applicatn.
CHECK for_domain  IS INITIAL OR <httpurlloc>-for_domain IS INITIAL OR for_domain  CP <httpurlloc>-for_domain.
CHECK host_header IS INITIAL OR host_header CP <httpurlloc>-host.
The last line gives host header as abc1234.xyz.com.sg. So if I maintain my host as abc.xyz.com.sg, it does not go ahead.
I cannot maintain abc1234.xyz.com.sg. Now I am stuck.
Can advise how to go about it?
    Thanks in adv.

  • What port number is used for SMTP outgoing mail with AOL?

I inadvertently changed the port number for SMTP outgoing mail of AOL.  What port number should I use?

Yahoo and Gmail support should be able to help you.
Not related to Firefox support, web mail doesn't use POP or SMTP protocols which is what email clients such as Thunderbird use for communicating with email servers.

  • Help!! Cant send email how change my outgoing smtp port to 587 stuck on 25

Im on OSX 10.1.4. I go to Mail, Preferences, Account, Select my email account, Select Edit, Select Account Options.
All I see is a box saying Connect to server port: and it says 143.
When I try to send mail a message says smpt port timed our port 25. I called my internet provider and they told me to change my outgoing port to 587 but I cant find where to change the 25 to 587.
If I go back to the above and change the 143 to 587 my incoming mail stops working.
Am I looking in the wrong place or did I setup my email incorrectly? I selected mac account, pop, smtp.mac.com outgoing server, mail.mac.com for incoming server...did I do something wrong. I have a mac mail email address.
    Please someone help me!!
    Thanks.

So there's no way to send with other ports? You HAVE to use port 25?
Sure there is - talk to every mail administrator of every domain you might ever want to send mail to and have them reconfigure their mail servers to listen on some arbitrary port number that you define. Wait for them to do it (it shouldn't take them too long), and then you're done.
Oh, no, hang on a minute... none of them are going to do that, are they?
But that's what you're asking for - you're asking for them to accept mail on some non-standard port number just so you can get around Verizon's mail blocking.
There is a reason why standard port numbers (defined by IANA) exists - just so that everyone's talking on the same page (or at least in the same chapter of the same book). You can't arbitrarily pick a port number and expect it to work unless both sides of the connection know to use it. You know port 25 works for SMTP because that's the standard. You can use any port number you like for your own mail because you can configure your own mail client to use a non-standard port, but you can't convince the rest of the world to follow suit (at least not without good reason).
In this case your options are to relay your mail through Verizon's servers, upgrade to their business plan (which supports hosting your own mail server and doesn't break the user agreement), or setup another mail server somewhere else that you can relay your mail through.

  • Sending email using IMAP through SMTP Port 587

    Hi,
I have been sending Mail Merged email to people in organizations that I am active in, using IMAP embedded in StarOffice 5.2 (on Windows 98 Second Edition). This worked fine until a few weeks ago when I received an error message stating that AOL, as part of their anti-spam efforts, was no longer accepting third-party emails on default port 25. All third-party email must now use port 587. I looked in the IMAP dialog and in the Tools -> Options dialog, but did not see any place to change the SMTP port. The AOL error message information page had instructions for changing the port in other applications (Outlook, Eudora, etc.), but not for StarOffice. So, I have some questions:
1.Is it possible to change the port in StarOffice 5.2?
2.If not, how does StarOffice 8 send Mail Merged email? Does it use IMAP, and if so, can the port be changed?
3.Also, I like the integrated configuration in StarOffice 5.2, where database fields can be directly accessed in the Insert -> Fields -> Other dialog. In looking at the Mail Merge section in "SO8_What's New.pdf", it appears that Mail Merge in StarOffice 8 is restricted to predefined fields. Could I still access fields from my existing databases?
These is a lot of questions, but right now I am blocked from sending Mail Merged emails which is imparing communications with volunteers who are running educational programs. I appreciate any and all help that anyone can provide.

    Please try this out!!!!!!!!!
You can send emails using Outlook also. You can send email over Microsoft Exchange with this object (or another email server, using IMAP/POP).
    Sub SendMailOutlook(aTo, Subject, TextBody, aFrom)
    'Create an Outlook object
    Dim Outlook 'As New Outlook.Application
    Set Outlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
    'Create e new message
    Dim Message 'As Outlook.MailItem
    Set Message = Outlook.CreateItem(olMailItem)
    With Message
'You can display the message To debug And see state
    '.Display
    .Subject = Subject
    .Body = TextBody
    'Set destination email address
    .Recipients.Add (aTo)
    'Set sender address If specified.
    Const olOriginator = 0
    If Len(aFrom) > 0 Then .Recipients.Add(aFrom).Type = olOriginator
    'Send the message
    .Send
    End With
    End Sub

  • Alert emails to a non standard SMTP port

Is it possible to configure LiveCycle ES 8.2 to send its alert emails to an SMTP server on a non standard port?  In the AdminUI there is a field for the server but not for the port.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jon
Sorry, I thought we were talking about Task Notifications not Administrator Notifications.
Changing the port in the Email Notifications process will work for Task Notifications.
Administrator Notifications use the Java mail default, which is port 25 unless otherwise specified on your system.
Are you using the JBoss Turnkey?
if so, you can try this:
    1. Navigate to C:\Adobe\LiveCycle8.2\jboss\server\all\deploy
    2. Locate the properties-service.xml file.
    3. uncomment the following block and set the property as follows:
        <!--
           | Set raw properties file style properties. -->
        <attribute name="Properties">
              smtp.mail.port =<your port #>
        </attribute>
    4. You don't need to restart JBoss.
The only downside is that this is now the smtp port for that server and any other apps on that server.
If you can live with that, it's an easy workaround.

  • Problem sending emails on SMTP Port 25 with Z10

    Hi Blackberry,
Its very disappointing that new Z10 cannot configure my business email. I can receive the email but cannot reply or send emails. There is a serious issues with the SMTP Ports with this device. Blackberry should resolve this issue earliest or die hard fans of blackberry like me shall be done with it. Z10 does not configure on SMTP Port 25. Please resolve this issue asap.

Port 25 is blocked on most ISPs now. you need a SSL type of connection to make it work everywhere.
this is not a BlackBerry problem really, the world of email has changed and port 25 should never be used by any mobile client
what mail server is this using? maybe you can configure a new port or even use IMAP or EAS which is much better for mobile use
