How do you make an email to PDF file?

Copy and paste the email into a word processing document like Pages. Then save the file as a PDF and email it back to yourself.  When you email the file in Pages - you have the opportunity to save it as a Word doc, a Pages doc or as a PDF.
Not exactly user friendly, but it works - and there is no way to save an email as a PDF.

    Not sure what you mean. Deleting a POP account only deletes the messages stored in the account’s mailboxes, not any messages stored in custom “On My Mac” mailboxes, if that’s what you mean. It’s not that Mail goes after your mail trying to delete as much as it can. It’s just that if a mail account is deleted, then its mailboxes cannot exist anymore...
    That said, instead of deleting the account right away, you can just disable it (i.e. turn OFF Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Enable this account), leave it that way for some time, and delete it only after making sure you didn’t miss anything while the account was disabled.
    BTW, if you back up your data, and the ~/Library/Mail folder in particular, you won’t have to worry about accidentally losing anything as a result of doing something like that...
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

    The information below details where to adjust both where messages are sent from and received.
    Receive iMessages using another email address:
    Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Add Another Email.
    Specify the phone number or Apple ID email address that appears in the “from” field when you start a new conversation:
    Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID.
    Existing conversations aren’t affected when you change this setting.

    Go to Settings>Store (or Settings>iTunes and App Stores for iOS 6) and sign out and sign in with the other/updated account.

  • Preview rasterizing PDFs- how do you stop this?

    I really am starting lean more on OSX PDF tools- but I have one recurring problem that is causing me a bit of pain. Some PDF files get rasterized when preview opens them. Then from that point on they look bad and have "no text in them" (can't be searched or indexed). This is breaking a lot of nice applications (like Spotlight, Papers and DevonThink). The same PDF can be opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader on OSX (and has text present when so opened). My guess is that the files have some fonts that OSX does not have or are a version of PDF that is not completely supported. Is there any way to fix this?
    An example paper (1 page) is http://www.mzlabs.com/00211.pdf . When Acrobat opens it all is well and the fonts reported are things like "T1, Type: Type 3, Encoding: Custom, Actual Font: T1, Actual Font Type: Type 3". Spotlight can not see into the body of this file (though it does seem to see the metadata). I can limp around this (like run DevonThink's OCR on the document and save the results- but this is labor intense and results in a very large file).
    I would really appreciate some help in making my Mac "perfect PDF heaven."

    Just a hunch. Are you getting these from Mail? I used Mail to send some PDFs a while ago and I discovered that if you use the feature at the bottom that limits image sizes, it will actually rasterize your PDF attachments in order to shrink file sizes or something.
    Let me know if this means anything to you.

  • Saving as a PDF -How do you make the PDF not bigger than the original file?

    I am running Mac OS X Panther.
    I understand that Mac OS X creates a "Digital Master" PDF file, which is larger than a typical PDF file because the resolution of images in the file is not scaled down. The PDF file includes each font character used in the document.
    Problem is this.
    I actually want the PDF NOT to be bigger than the original document file.
    Can anyone please help?

    It's probably most important to know exactly what you intend to do with the saved pdf file? Are you going to need to print the pdf etc.?

    edit: You have posted in the 10.3 Panther OS and earlier forum and you appear to be using 10.4 (Tiger) by your computer specs below your topic which may handle pdf's somewhat differently. In your post you mention Panther so I just wanted to clarify if need be.

    Adobe Acrobat is the program you'd use to modify a PDF. Reader is not able to make the changes you mentioned. Acrobat Standard is able to do all of the things you mentioned, as is Acrobat Pro.

To do this I am using the fake email button option (based on Pauls "Email Options" directions). I would like to change the email body message to say something different from the subject line and the standard Adobe message "The attached file is the filled-out form.     The file does not appear to be there, but I thought the mailto syntax was a starting '?' and then in was '&' for each parameter.
    Using your example
              RealEmail.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:" + DropDownList1.rawValue + "?subject=Mobile Device Request" + "?body=Testing";
    I think this should work if it is changed to
      RealEmail.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:" + DropDownList1.rawValue + "?subject=Mobile Device Request" + "&body=Testing";
    (please note I haven't checked this, just a from the top of the head idea)

    When I downloaded this most recent version of Firefox, there was no email icon to click, which would then open (or go to aol if it was already open) and create an email template to fill in and send.
    Where is that function.
    I browse in Firefox and have aol open in another window and jump between, giving the best of both worlds.
    Now that functionality is lost if I can not create an email link in Firefox.

    Hi, open the 3-bar menu > Customize, and drag the Email Link button to a toolbar in the location of your choice > Exit Customize to save.

    You mean reduce the PDF file size?  You need Acrobat for that; Adobe Reader cannot do anything like it.
    Also, how much you can reduce the file size much depends on its contents.  I have seen PDFs reduced down to 10%, others just by a few KB.
    P.S. why do you need to reduce the file size?

    Once you setup the mail gateway with an IP address, port, and domain name.  How can you test email connectivity?  How do you force the MARS Appliance to send an email?

    There is no "test e-mail connectivity" button/function. Essentially you need to configure inspection rules to notify you when they are fired by mars.
    You will need to setup a user (preferably a non-admin account for testing) under "Management"-"user management"(if you haven't already done so) make sure to supply e-mail address.

    Now you can "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action." the following link explains how to do this...An easy one would be the "System Rule: CS-MARS Login Failures - Non-Admin User" rule. Follow the instructions in the link below under the "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action" section to modify the rule mentioned above. Keep in mind that this rule only fires when there are login failures. Once you have modified this rule try logging into mars using the non-admin user with a bad password...you should get a e-mail from MARS.

  • How can you hide a Continue button until all clickboxes are clicked?

    I have seen similar questions to this one, but none seemed to be the exact situation as mine.
    What I have: Several images on a screen.  When a user clicks an image it is replaced with another image.  I am using clickboxes for this task.  I do not wish for them to toggle back and forth. Once they click the original image it should stay changed.
    What I am trying to do: Once a learner clicks all the images (in no particular order) a Continue button appears that allows them to go to the next screen.
    If anyone has some suggestions on this situation please let me know, thanks.

    I cannot log in on the forum for the moment, so will try by answering by
    mail. I was aware of that problem (have presented those solutions so
    often), thought that since you left all images visible once the click box
    was clicked it wouldn't be a problem.
    Two possible solutions:
       1. Easiest one: add a statement in the Always decision that will Hide
       the click box just clicked. It has no sense to click it another time. That
       will mean that you still can do it with a shared action but that shared
       action will have two parameters now, the second one being the click box
       that has to adapted on each application of the shared action.
       2. If you don't want to make the click box hidden (which means at the
       same time disabled), you'll need a user variable for each click box,
       starting with a default value of 0, and toggle it in the Decision 'Always'
       to 1. The second decision will then need a condition that checks the value
       of all the user variables (with AND) and shows the Next button only when
       all variables have the value of 1.

  • How do you structure a .book with an EDD?

    Hi all,
    I am learning how to convert legacy, unstructured FM documents into structured FM documents and need some help. So, I created a conversion table from my unstructured documents, created the EDD, applied the EDD to the unstructured document to create a structured document and now need to tweak the EDD.
    My question is, what is the correct way to layout the EDD rules for a book using multiple document styles? For example: My book contains a title page, TOC, one or more chapters, a glossary of terms, and one or more appendixes (or is that a appendicies?.)
    I am thinking the element rule would look something like this:
    Element (Container): BOOK
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: TitlePage, TOC, Chapter+, Index, Appendix+
    Followed of course by other elements required for the structure. However, I did see an EDD that I am sure was outlined like this (though I can't recall where:)
    Element: TitlePage
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: Blah blah blah
    Element: TOC
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: Blah blah blah
    Element: Chapter
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: Blah blah blah
    Element: Index
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: Blah blah blah
    Element: Appendix
    Valid as the highest-level element.
    General rule: Blah blah blah
    If the second structure is correct, how do you define the Book element? On the Adobe forum, I was told one EDD should be created for all book elements, which makes sense to me.

    Thanks Van, that does clear it up for me... a little. My confusion now is, if I set all the book sections as valid at the highest level, then how does the book get structured as the starting point for the sections contained within it? I have tried to find a sample EDD detailing exactly this, but to no avail - my search brought up courses where this is covered, but not the actual EDD structure.
    When I try to structure the book with the EDD, the book comes up red with its children elements looking just fine. Ahh! You have to love that learning curve.

    As Russ said, your BOOK element looks fine. Not sure how far you have gotten, but when you open a document file that is in the book, its root element will be Chapter, TitlePage, Appendix, etc. That is why you have to declare each of these as being valid at the highest level. When you click in the book file window and look at the structure view, you will see that the BOOK element is the root element, and its content will be TitlePage, TOC, Chapter, Chapter,...etc. The book and all of its component files have the same EDD. The definitions for the BOOK element, as well as the TitlePage, TOC, Chapter, etc elements are all contained in the same EDD. I hope this helps to answer your question.
