Emailed photos are small no mattt size I choose in export dialogue box

E

LR is working on the uncompressed data inside of itself so the relative size between originals and exported size is determined entirely by what you do to the JPGs as you process and the export settings.
If you’re reexporting your JPGs without resizing them, then the Quality setting has the most effect on increasing or decreasing the size relative to what was imported.
Also, making them smoother (using noise-reduction) will also help them compress more, and making them less smooth (adding sharpening) will prevent them from being compressed as much for a given quality setting.
JPGs lose quality when you compress them so the trick is to compress them enough to make them a manageable size without degrading them too much.   Export your images as uncompressed 8-bit TIFs to see what the JPG compression is accomplishing.
Increasing the quality setting higher than 70 will make them larger so you can experiment with multiple quality settings to gauge what quality the originals were created using.
For your experiments to be most accurate you’d want to export the JPGs without any other processing having been applied: no toning or noise-reduction or sharpening or resizing.  Once you determine what quality setting gives a similar size to what was imported you can then decide if you want to make them smaller to keep your e-mail size manageable, comparing the quality of the files, visually, instead of just relying on size to know if they have similar quality.
LR may use slightly different JPG compression methods than what produced the JPGs in the first place, so don’t be too obsessed with them being exactly the same size, just roughly the same magnitude.

  • Attached photos are automatically reduced in size - how do I stop this?

iPad mini using Mail. My wife somehow changed a setting and it doesn't ask what size I want to send the photo as, it just automatically sends it as a reduced file size. I'd like the option to chose each time I send one.

Photos that you take with the front facing camera - the FaceTime camera - cannot be reduced or enlarged in size. Apparently the front facing camera must automatically optimize the for FaceTime and the size cannot be adjusted.
As far as I know - all other photos (screenshots, saved from websites or emails, rear facing camera photos) can be reduced in size - or sent in a larger size if they are reduced automatically when inserted in the email.
If you are sending multiple photos in one email - if one of them is from the front facing camera - I believe that will preclude you from adjusting the size of any of the other photos as well.

  • Migrating emails from Thunderbird: small IMAP mailbox size

I recently got a MacBook Pro and now I want to move my emails from my former email client on a Windows XP PC, Thunderbird, to Mac Mail on the MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.2).
I created the appropriate email account in Mac Mail, this part works fine.
But the size of my IMAP is fairly small, and I used to move my old emails to the Thunderbird local message folders. How do I move everything to my Mac? This is straightforward for the emails that are still on the server, but how do I get both, the ones on the server, and the ones downloaded to Thunderbird to Mac Mail? Do I have to gradually move mails from the local Thunderbird folder to my account, and over to my Mac, and do the whole thing again and again, or is it safe to import the Thunderbird folder to Mac Mail? I would like to avoid double or lost messages.

you can set up thunderbird on the mac first and migrate there. then in Mail go to File menu->import mailboxes. it has an option to import from thunderbird. it might actually be possible to import directly from the copy of your windows thunderbird profile without setting up thunderbird on the mac first.

  • Outlook Email photos are visible in IE but not on Firefox, why?

Outlook Live email photos that are not attachments are missing from emails. If I open the same in IE, they are there. How do I fix?

The images might be embedded as CID (Content-ID) (src="cid:image") that link to an image that is attached to the message.<br />
Firefox doesn't handle images embedded that way.
You would need an email program like Thunderbird to see the images.

  • Making sure photos are the exact same size

I am creating before and after photos and need to make sure that each are the same size.  I will have groups of 2 side by side and then groups of 6 with 2 across and 3 down.  Once I create them in layers, is there a way that I can check to make sure that each of the photos is exactly the same size?   I have turned on grid and rulers, but wondered if there was any easier way to look at the pixle size of each individual photo?

Consider making templates to the exact size required for your project. Here is a method which can be modified by changing the numbers to suit, but once set up can be used over and over again. It is a bit tedious - -
Open a new, blank file (File>new>blank file) and set width & height in the inch size of your paper stock (4x6"), resolution 300px/in, background white (can be any color)
Access the rectangular marquee tool, and in the the tool's option bar select "Fixed size", and put in 3.75x2.75", for example. Turn on the grid and snap to grid via View>grid & snap to grid. You can configure the grid via Edit>preferences>Guides and grids if you want to.
Duplicate the background layer, and create the first box by clicking with the rectangular marquee tool. Position the box, then fill it with 50% gray (Edit>fill selection, and under contents select 50% gray.) Select>deselect gets rid of the marching ants
Repeat for the next box. You should now have a document containing two rectangular boxes filled with 50% gray.
Select the first box that you wish to fill (ultimately with the picture) with the magic wand tool. On the tool's option bar be sure that contiguous is checked. You should see "marching ants" around the selection, indicating that it is active.
Open picture 1, go to Select>all, Edit>copy, then go to your layout as completed in step #5, and Edit>paste into selection
Your image will be larger that the rectangular box, but you can drag it around to position the person that you wish to display. CTRL+T will allow you to resize the image with the corner handles, and to maneuver it
Repeat for picture 2 with the 2nd box

  • My photos are not printing the size I set them to in printing preferences

I am trying to print photos off but everytime i change the size it does not fit they come out to small does not fill the page e.g A4 is coming out to narrow and to short its the same for smaller photos e.g 5x7 prints out smaller. I have change size in printing preferences and apply but does not work.

Open the notes app on your phone and tap Accounts on the top left.  Tap each of the accounts listed to find out which account your notes belong to.  iCloud only syncs notes that belong to the iCloud account.  If your notes belong to a different account, you will have to copy and paste the text of each one into new notes created in the iCloud account in order to add them to iCloud and sync them with your other devices.
To ensure that new notes are added to the iCloud account, select the iCloud account from the accounts list before creating the note.

  • Photos are smaller when uploaded to facebook

This is my first mac, and I've had it for about 2 weeks now and I get the basic idea of iPhoto, BUT whenever I post new pictures on facebook they are much smaller than when I used my PC. I've looked through the preferences and such to try and find a setting I can change and I haven't had much luck. I'm trying to keep my applications strictly to apple, but I'm pretty close to downloading Picasa or something because this is ridiculous. Help?

Facebook “processes“ your photos when you upload them. I just uploaded a 544kb file using FaceBook’s own uploader (not iPhoto). They “processed” the photo and I downloaded it again. The resulting download was 48kb.
So, when FaceBook “process” your pics they remove more than 90% of the data, all of the metadata and colour info. This is not an iPhoto issue, it’s a Facebook one.
Put another way, if you care about your photos, don’t put them on Facebook.
    Regards
    TD

  • HT5132 The pop up appears when I open aperture, I do not have a mobil me account with photos and the sync never seems to start and the dialogue box will not go away. How do I get rid of it?

When I open aperture a pop up appears that tells me that my mobil me photos will be moved. When I click OK, nothing happens and I have left it for hours. I can not get rid of the pop up and I can not get out of aperture. I have to force the computer to shut down. Any thoughts?

Quit Aperture - force quit if necessary (or try this:
If Aperture is unresponsive, how to avoid force quitting?
Launch Aperture again. When the panel appears, press the "Learn more" button, not o.k.
Then use the "File > Web Accounts > Manage Web Accounts" menu entry from Aperture's main menu bar and remove "MobileMe" from the list of accounts in the accounts pane by pressing "-".
If the above does not work, disconnect the internet (Wi-fi, Ethernet, whatever you have), before you launch Aperture again. Now the panel should no longer appear.
Also sign out of MobileMe in the System Preferences Mobile Me tab, to stop the panel to appear again.
    Good luck

  • Since updating AOL iPhoto no longer will email photos with AOL.

I recently updated my AOL to 10.3.7 Since that time the AOL icon has disappeared from the bottom of the iPhoto screen and the only options I have to email photos are through MacMail or Entourage. AOL and Eudora are both grayed out in the Preferences. AOL says it is not their problem. I think something needs to be changed in iPhoto Preferences but I can't figure out how when AOL is no longer a choice. What would cause the AOL logo to disappear and be replaced by MacMail? How do I fix it? Thanks to anyone who can help me. Linda Cooper

I was able to rename America Online to AOL and successfully switch the email photo function in iPhoto to use AOL, but now every time (and I mean EVERY) time I go to email a photo, iPhoto asks me where AOL is..... this is a bit tedious. Any idea how to solve this once and for all? Will iPhoto 6 solve this?

  • When I forward any photos by email they are received as small image, how to change the settings

if I take or forward a picture by email to another device, the photograph comes out like a large thumbnail with low pixel quality. I can't find anywhere to change this setting.

You need to clarify your statement/question a little bit more. What device are using to take the photo? I assume that you are using your iPad, but I don't know that for a fact because you simply say "whenever I take a picture". I also assume that you are using the built in mail app and not a third party mail app, but can't say for sure about that either without more details from you.
When I take a photo with the iPad, if I attach/insert a photo in an email directly in the mail app, the photo defaults to the actual size, which is the highest resolution that it can be. The size of the photo can be made smaller, but it defaults to the largest size.

  • Firefox is scaling down the photo sizes, along with chrome and internet explorer but Firefox's photos are usually smaller

I sell products on a site, along with other sellers, that is owned by someone else.
We have many sellers there. Some of us are having problems with how we are able to view the size of our photos taken of our products that are up for sale.
From seller to seller, we have different versions of Firefox that we are using. I have the newest Firefox, which I believe is 4.
I was having, like others who use 4, the same problem seeing smaller photos before I did the upgrade as well.
It seems to be the case for most of us who are having the problem, that Firefox photos scale down smaller than Internet Explorer and Chrome.
We have been told that this may be a browser issue as the site owners say they have not made any changes. At this point we are unsure since there are so many variations from seller to seller (keep in mind that some sellers are not seeing the photos scale down through their computer).
We have asked the site owners to look into this problem further. I also wanted to see what the Firefox community had to say. Do you think it may be a browser issue? We would greatly appreciate your input.
Below are some examples of photos that have been scaled down for the sellers who are seeing a problem with smaller photos while both in Firefox; all using different versions of Firefox:
One photo that was originally the size of 419px by 1, 007px is being seen by one seller to a scaled down size of 81px by 64px.
Another seller is viewing this same photo scaled down to 163px by 329px.
Another seller is able to view this photo as the original size it was intended to be, which is 419px by 1, 007px.
The above scenario has been the worst scaled down size we have heard of so far.
Typically a photo that is the size of 1, 000px by 930px has been scaled down to 420px by 391px.
There are other examples as to size, but you can see that the photos have been scaled down quite a bit.
You can see that it has been scaled down to less than half of the original size. This can pose a real problem for us depending on the type of product that is being photographed.
    Thank you!!

    Thank you!!
