• Problem with embed flv

After I embed flv video to Flash CS6 timeline, I only see black square and no video.
Please help
I go to
File
Import Video - mark option "Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline"
Symbol type - Embedded video, all options marked except audio
Finish
Hit Enter or from Control menu - Test movie or Test Scene
All I see is black square and nothing else

Unfortunately I don't think we can recommend something like that as content on there tends to be copyright to its owner. You'd need to ask permission before grabbing the content.
If you have permission then I'd use Firefox with Flash Video Downloader but I download in MP4 format and then use Sorenson Squeeze (or Adobe Media Encoder) to convert that to an On2VP6 FLV. I've done it in the past for clients who lost their own content but had some up on YouTube. Use addons at your own risk and be sure to research them.

• How to stop sound playing at a embed FLV video

Hello,
I would not a piece of code, which will stop the sound
playing in a embed
flv video. Following situation:
I have a "main.swf" file which loads two swf as following:
loadMovie ("Teenies.swf", _root.contenedor);
loadMovie ("CananIntro.swf", _root.mc_video);
The "CananIntro.swf" includes (embed) the flv video "canan
PART1.flv".
I would need the action sript code to make the sound at
"canan PART1.flv" ON
or OFF.
Thank you for any hint.
Walter

Another way to do this is to create a boolean right off the start. Lets say var createMusicTrack:Boolean and set it to true
Then load your music and start playing it and at the end of that load code add a line that sets the boolean to false so that when you come back to frame 1 the boolean will be false and the code will not load and play, but this could be problematic too. Djnr suggestion is better for your purposes.

• Embed flv instead of linking?

Is there a way to embed flv files (the same way images are embeded) within the published SWF? From this thread I see the default behavior is to link to flv files, I'm just wondering if there is a way to change that behavior without bringing the code into Flash Builder (which I do not own).
Thanks for any insight,
Brent

How large are the video files you want to embed in your Flash Catalyst project? The reason that they are kept external is to reduce initial swf file download. I don't think this setting can be changed within Flash Catalyst. You will have to take the project into Flash Builder to change this. But be warned, the user experience may not be what you want. I would test it on the real server first. You might need to introduce a better preloader to the project to offset the increased download time.

• How can I mask on flv file in flash cs4?

Hi,
I am new to Flash CS4. I saw one video on how to use flv file in flash and mask it. It is working fine when I am using the following option while importing a video file to flash:
Load external video with playback component
But when I tried with the following option it doesn't show the background, it shows only movie which is playing nicely. But not the background which has a bill board.
Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
It seems the mask is not working with this option.
How to solve this problem? Please help.
Actually it should be like the above.
But when I am using the option Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline while importing the flv video, getting the result like below: It is not showing the Bill board as above.
See the layers created:

Hi,
I Tried with CS4 by creating mask layer and importing video , layers created were same as you have created and it is working for me .
Here is the screen shot of the .fla file.

• Importing flv with external playback.. loop?!

Hi!
I'm trying to create google ads under the 50kb limit which is causing some headaches...anyway! I've noticed something. If I import my flv (which I've created in after effects) into adobe flash CS5.5 with "load external video with playback component" and then export the whole thing out as a SWF the file size is really small. 50 kb's compared to 795.6 kb's if the "embed flv in SWF" option is used.
So my problem is this, I want to use the option of "load external video with playback component" but I want the video to loop when it's exported out as an SWF. Is this actually possible?
I've tried some scripts which I've found, but I cant get it to work.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks!
M

Well yes, you can loop the video using the FLVPlayback, but I think you are missing the point of the 50kb google ad limit.
When you use FLVPlayback, you must also use an external .flv file. So besides the <50kb .swf file, you will also have the >700kb .flv file. You cannot just use the .swf. So together, those two files put you way over the 50kb limit.
Best wishes,

• Flv doesn't display in Safari

Have placed an flv in a page and it displays and plays in all
browsers except Safari on Mac/PC. Maddening. Is there some js that
Safari doesn't like or understand? I've searched all over the web
for a solution. The flv even plays in Live Preview in DW CS4 which
supposedly uses the Safari rendering engine. All scripts and other
support files are on the server, all paths are correct. Anyone have
any ideas? Here's the url:
http://www.waxthemovie.com/home.html

Sure does work. What you mean to say is that you cannot make
it work,
right?
Here's a page -
http://murraytestsite.com/test-flv.php
I created a new page and saved it. I inserted the FLV, and
chose the
options. I uploaded the page WITH dependent files. That's
it....

• .FLV files ..why do some play in HTML and others don't?

hi,
I am using dreamweaver 8 to embed 'FLV videos into html
webpages.
the problem is that when I embed and test some flv files, the
player shows up on the page and the videos play fine,
but when I try with a couple of other flv files, these files
do not work - a blank screen shows up (though when I right-click on
the screen where the video player is supposed to be, the flash
drop-down menu appears).
I know that the Size of the files is not why these files are
not working, and I have the latest version of flash player
installed. Also, I'm sure I have not made a mistake in the code,
and I suspect that it is something to do with difference/s in the
files themselves... ?
If you need any further info, please let me know.
this is quite frustrating - so please help.
thank you.

• Embedding FLV in cfm

Im working on a video databse project thatuses flash and xml
with a coldfusion backend system and one of the components I need
is a cintents page that ouputs all the videos stored in the
database. The problem is this needs to be done dynamically using
<cfoutput> and the code used to embed flvs in
html contains plenty of single #, which means cfoutput wont work.
Does anyone know of a way round this, such as an alternative
way of embedding the flv files?
Thanks
*Edit* Just found the answer, I just need to double the
hashes and it works fine with the standard code

Thanks for the tips so far.
From what I can tell, FLVPlayback with FlashVars looks like the way to go for my present purposes. I am brand-new to both FLVPlayback and FlashVars.
I am now trying to find documentation on the needed ActionScript. Haven't found it yet. One discussion makes it look as if all you need is
myFLV.contentPath = path/myFLV.flv;
which seems clearly wrong, while another suggests something likethis:
//Import flvplayback library
import fl.video.*;
//Init vars
var myFlashVar:String;
var my_FLVPlybk = new FLVPlayback();
//Add new element
addChild(my_FLVPlybk);
//New element properties
my_FLVPlybk.x = 0;
my_FLVPlybk.y = 0;
my_FLVPlybk.height = 500;
my_FLVPlybk.width = 750;
//Skin import
my_FLVPlybk.skin = "skin.swf"
//Flashvars code
var varName:String;
var paramObj:Object = LoaderInfo(this.root.loaderInfo).parameters;
for (varName in paramObj) {     myFlashVar = String(paramObj[varName]);
//Placed in html
params my_FLVPlybk.source = myFlashVar;
which looks like it might be close but not quite right.
Any help?

• Create a video player for embedded FLV

So I want to embed a FLV in my flash so that I just have ONE SWF that contains everything.
I know if I say "load external video with playback component" I will end up with a swf, html and the flv- this is NOT what I want so please don't ask me why I'm not using this option.
"Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline" is EXACTLY what I want- the result is just a single SWF.
Here is the question: How do I get a video player if I embed a FLV in flash?
I know if I load the video external I will get some nice players - exactly what I want. How do I get a player if the video is embedded? Are there any coded player templates on the net? I couldn't find anything on google I could use but I've to admit I'm not too good at AS.
Thanks A LOT for your help

Not sure if this will work. Embed the FLV into a movie clip and in the expanded propertied check export for action script. Then you may be able to call the movie clip from the content path in the FLV video component.

• QT to FLV conversion

A neophtye here. But at least this newbie knows where to go to get help! I'm new to Dreamweaver. Came over from the GoLive crowd. Got it figured out and am about to throw my first site online. But... want to be able to convert my QT and WMV movies to FLV myself. I purchased CS4 Design Premium. It contains Flash PRO. Assumed that would allow me to convert QT and WMV to FLV. But... no luck. Did I purchase the wrong suite? And, if so, does anyone know a way I can convert those files. I tried ISky software but it seemed very inconsistent! I'm using a new "loaded" MacBookPro for the task. Just need to get those files converted. Help... anyone. And thanks in advance.
Sallee

Flash CS4 will do that for you.
1. Open Flash CS4, select new AS2 or AS3 file, your choice.
2. Open File... Import... and select the first .mov or .wmv file.
3. Flash will open the Import Video window.
4. Select Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
5. Click the Launch Adobe Media Encoder button
6. Follow the instructions and select the options as you like
Repeat as needed
Or, the Media Encoder will do that for you.
1. Launch the Adobe Media Encoder CS4.app
2. Drag the .mov and .wmv files into the window
3. Set the options as you need

• Creating swf file with along with linked flv content

Can anyone tell me the procedure for creating an swf and
linked flv file with Sorenson Squeeze for deployment on the Breeze
server or in Breeze Presenter. All Adobe will share is the how to
ithis with Flash. I feel certain this can be done, but all my
attempts have failed in that the published swf will not display the
referred flv content. To interpret the Flash procedure it seems
that all one has to do is add /output "file name" to the swf player
flve linked url, but the published swf file does not seem to be
linked with the published flv file. - even when I have made that
flv file public.

You wrote "I've imported the FLV into the 'stage' and added a skin through the wizard" from this I conclude that you choose the deafult option, that says "load external video with plyback component" (only this one offers you a skin wizard). But when you deploy that swf to a server it still needs the flv source (search Help for FLVplayback), and even the Skin (its an extra swf) must be depoyed to the server. What you instead want to do is option 2: embed FLV in swf. There are some disadvantages to this solution: the longer the video, the more probable it is, Audio and Video will get desynchronized, and: you can`t use Adobes premade skins for the controls

• Adobe Media Encoder in CS4

Hello. My name is Justin. I am currently going through the ADOBE FLASH CS4 REVEALED book by Jim Shuman, as a program at a local community college. I have the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium. I am running this program on Microsoft Windows 7 x64, with 4 gb ram and a Core2 Duo processor at 2.27 GHz.
I am going through the content of the book, and in chapter 5, lesson 3, we were to use the encoder to encode a fireworks.mov file. (p5-14)
I proceed through the steps described in the book. Upon opening the fl5_3.fla , I first select default fonts as I don't have the called for font. After making a new layer named video and clicking frame 1 of the said layer. I click File > Import > Import Video. I get the wizard window popped up. I click on the Embed FLV tic, and browse to the data folder.I select the file and click open. This is where I encounter the 1st error.
"The video format you have selected is not valid for embedded video. Please select an FLV file."
I click OK. And then click Launch Adobe Media Encoder button. I recieve a second error.
"The file"(location)" could not be imported by Adobe Media Encoder" .
I have tried to import it from various locations on my hard drive, and from the data disk itself. Adobe is said to be fully updated.
I encounter this problem again in a later lesson in the Skills Review on page 5-40.
Another thing to note is that when I choose to manually add an item in the que of the encoder, I do not get to initially see the .mov file until selecting the ALL option under the File type drop down scroll box.
Any help in a timely manner would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
- Justin

I could really use some help on this . . .
Could it be a codec is missing or something?
Does anyone know of another way I can get help if not from here?
Thanks.

• Embedding Flash in HTML using Dreamweaver - stopped working

Hi all, not really sure what's going on, but I've done this many times before and it's worked fine.
I've previously embedding Flash videos I've created in Premiere and/or converted using other software. I simply drag and drop the Flash file where I want it and then adjust layout using code/design etc and that's it, job done. It's always played back fine.
Now for some reason I've tried doing it again this morning and can't figure it out. When I preview the file it doesn't even show the video, but instead displays all the icons for the controls at once in a grid where the video is meant to be. I've tried in IE, Firefox and Chrome, updated drivers, windows, Adobe, Flash etc all to no avail.
I've even tried doing it in a blank HTML page in case some of the template I might have been using was interfering for some strange reason; still no luck. What's even stranger is that a site I created last year is also now not displaying Flash (FLV) content locally, but is working fine on the server.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Im' having a VERY similar problem with a few estra 'happy' moments. I have a blog (WP). On this simple and VERY basic blog (with almost NO plug ins) I have attempted to embed FLV videos with CS$ Dreamweaver code.
(This code is different in CS$ than it was in earlier versions as it now calls to the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf as the player and uses Flashvars to pass the value of the FLV. PReviously, it was four simple lines of code that pointed directly to the SWF)
Here was my process - I encoded the files with AE and Media Encoder to end up with Transparent FLV's. These, I then setup in Dreamweaver so I could copy the embed code. On my first attempt, it worked PERFECTLY. I was testing one particular flv, got the code and inserted it into the blog page with some special CSS to position it.
The movie played perfectly.
Then things got weird.
I was excited I had a solution, so I went to put another video on another page. No luck. The second page was playing the video from the first page. As if I had copied the same code, but I hadn't. I copied code that was 'pointing' to the new file, but for whatever reason, the new file would not play.
I did EVERYTHING. I deleted all the pages and strted fresh. I deleted the FLV's and reuploaded them. I created different folders and put each flv in it and created index.html files for each (assuming possibly there was a hardcoded element in the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf). I copied and pasted back and forth for nearly 6 hours.
Nothing. Each time I would copy and paste code into a blog page, it would simply pull the original video.
THEN....things got worse.
I pulled one video off of the server, and now NONE work. I can't get ANY videos to play. Worse, I still have the 'express install' link showing.
Ok, so here is what I am trying to figure out;
Does the NEW DW CS4 code somehow have control over the file that is called? Further, HOW can I get more than one FLV to play across a whole blog site.
Here is a link to one of the pages that HAS code but is calling NOTHING. And please know that I have left copies of the necessary files ALL over the server. So they are in the root, in the 'files' folder, in the talent folder and everywhere.
Is there a conflict flash hits when there are multiple FLV's being called? Is there a way to do this? Please help....
Thank you

• Plug-in for Adobe Reader to display embedded WMV not available

My problem is that I have a PDF with an embedded WMV. When I attempt to open it, I get the following message:
The PDF file contains media that requires an additional player. Please click 'Get Media Player' to
download the correct media player. To play the media, you will need to close and restart the application
once the player installation is complete.
When I go to download the correct media player, the Adobe web site, (http://www.adobe.com/special/acrobat/nomediaplayer.html), informs me that the third-party media player is not available for my system. It does, however, suggest visiting the Apple web site for QuickTime.
As a matter of course, I decided to install Flip4Mac which is an add-on to QuickTime that allows it to play Windows Media files. While this add-on does function according to specification, I still get the same error when I attempt to open the same PDF file.
Note that I am running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).

Putting it bluntly, you shouldn't be embedding WMVs in PDF files anymore - it's called "legacy media" and it's been discontinued for security reasons. You can't author it in Acrobat X, and playback is disabled in all current versions of Acrobat and Adobe Reader unless the user changes their security options. Authors should be using Rich Media annotations, which embed FLV or H.264 video and play cross-platform via an internal copy of Flash Player.
The weblink fired by Reader when it encounters legacy media for which the OS has no registered handler understands that you're on a Mac - and as there are no primary players for WMV files on OS X, that's what it tells you. Adobe does not link to third-party add-ons for other software, and even with those installed it will continue to complain unless the add-on has changed the file type associations, so that WMV files automatically open in Quicktime.
