Embedded Flash from Justin.tv on my website

I am streaming a couple of ip camera's via Xsplit to Justin.TV. To show  the footage on my Joomla website I use the embedded flash code. My goal  is to show the video stream without any black bars above, under or at  the sides.
I have two examples that work reasonable well:
camera 1: resolution 640 x 480 => Xsplit setting 640 x 480 (4:3). On  my website I use the embedded flash code from justin.tv. and use  following settings : 600 x 480 (5:4) .
camera 2: resolution 704 x 576 => Xsplit setting 704 x 576 (11:9). On  my website I use the embedded flash code and use following settings :  600 x 520 (15:13).
Links for the footage:
http://www.plett.tv/monkeyland-live.html (640 x 480) => jtv channel = monkeylandplett
http://www.plett.tv/albergo-now-live.html ( 600 x 520) => jtv channel = albergolm
My question is following:
What happens on the way from Justin.TV to an embedded Flash video on my website.
How does 4:3 become 5:4 and how does 11:9 become 15:13. What is the formula behind it? How does this work?
I would also appreciate a pointer to a website that can explain this in layman's terms.
Leslie

Hi Chris,
I expected an answer but my question has been on justin.tv and xsplit forum
for two days. No reactions at all.
Kind regards,
Leslie

    embedded videos from various websites no longer load. i just get a black mini screen with no controls. they do load when using other browsers and this only started within the last few days

    i just tried safe mode and that makes no difference. the videos that do not load are ones embedded in websites such as the huffingtonpost etc. the website loads as normal. when i click on an article with a video the article appears but the area where the video usually appears is just a black box. typically that box contains a "promo shot" and video operating controls. recently this area is just black. this happens on numerous news type websites. when i use safari as my browser everything works fine

    Welcome to the forums.
    Try doing the following. In the browser swipe down from the top and choose Settings, now choose Content, here where it says Enable Flash change this to Off.  Now try going to the website that was not working (it will not work again this is fine) Once on the page swipe down from the top again and this time enable the Flash setting. Now reload the page and test to see if you have the same issue.

  • Have a flash player problem when visiting my website

    I'm sorry, I did not know where to ask this question, so I tried my luck here. Anyhow, me and my fiance own this website about prom dresses where we find some dresses around the web and write reviews about them. But some of our friends told us we have some kind of weird flash problem on our webpage. Perhaps, some of you more knowledgable guys can take a look and see if they are right? I've tried visiting my website from a number of computers and mobile phones, but never encountered any kind of problem. But I'm not very into technology and would like you advice very much.
    Here is the website in question: [sketchy link removed] and here is the web page they have said they had flash player issues: [sketchy link removed]

  • Controlling embedded Flash player

    Hi All,
    I am working on a project whereby the embedded Flash player
    (9) needs to be controlled from code.
    The following must be accomplished:
    There is a list of .swf files stored in a XML file on the web
    server. (These .swf files are converted from .mpg movie files.)
    The Flash player needs to load the first .swf file.
    When it finishes playing the first file it must load the next
    one and start playing it automatically.
    This process needs to be repeated until the last .swf file is
    played.
    Whilst playing the .swf file corresponding text must be shown
    in a textbox on the same web-page.
    When the player finishes playing the last file it must
    restart at the first file for the second time
    and repeat the whole process the second time but now when it
    reaches a certain file for the second time
    the player must stop and ask the user a question. The user
    will type in his/her answer.
    When the answer is correct the Flash player will continue to
    play the next file else show the correct answer, mark the question
    as wrongly answered and then continue on to the next .swf file.
    After the Flash player finishes playing the last file it must
    check if any question was wrongly answered.
    If so then that .swf file will be shown again and the
    question & answer game will be repeated.
    When all questions have been answered correctly the user will
    be redirect back to the calling page.
    The current development environment for the project is C#.NET
    2.0
    Any help in accomplishing this is very much appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Arjan

  • Cannot get my Flash file to play on my website - pls help!

    If you go to the website: www.rileyforjustice.com you should see my problem.  The white square is my embedded flash swf file, but as you can see it isn't playing.  In Flash, when I test the movie, it plays beautifully.  When I put it on my webpage, it's just blank.  What bothers me is that I embed Flash swf files frequently with zero problems.  The only difference is that this is a video.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
    The swf file is properly uploaded to my server. I've attached the swf file for reference.
    The html is:
      <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="320" height="240" id="FlashID" title="TDR">
                    <param name="movie" value="intro2.swf" />
                    <param name="quality" value="high" />
                    <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
                    <param name="swfversion" value="9.0.45.0" />
                    <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
                    <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
                    <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->
                    <!--[if !IE]>-->
                    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="intro2.swf" width="320" height="240">
                      <!--<![endif]-->
                      <param name="quality" value="high" />
                      <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
                      <param name="swfversion" value="9.0.45.0" />
                      <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
                      <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users with Flash Player 6.0 and older. -->
                      <div>
                        <h4>Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.</h4>
                        <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" width="112" height="33" /></a></p>
                      </div>
                      <!--[if !IE]>-->
                    </object>
                    <!--<![endif]-->
                  </object>

    If you look at both the file you attached and the file on the server, they are blank white screens.  So the problem appears to not be with the embedding process, but with the file itself.  Does the file happen to load something dynamically that you have neglected to include/upload?  What you should do is get the swf to display properly via the address www.rileyforjustice.com/intro2.swf without the web page first.  I'm pretty sure once you figure that out it will play in the page.

  • Embedded Flash movie locks up Browser

    It doesn't seem to matter which of the top three
    browsers I use, but most often when you go to
    a website page that automatically (or not?)
    launches an embedded Flash movie, a little
    window pops up inside that embedded movie
    asking me to click Allow or Deny.
    But NIETHER is clickable, the browser is locked,
    nothing can be clicked and ALL other tabs are locked
    and cannot be clicked either.
    I have to hit CTRL+ALT+DELTE to kills the
    browser in Task Manager. .A HUGE annoyance,
    that comes unexpectedly because you don't know
    when an embedded movie will be on the next page
    you click.
    How do I stop that Allow/Deny message popping up??

    Green screen is usually an indication for some incompatibility with the graphics driver, although turning Hardware Acceleration off should prevent that from happening.

  • Jittery playback in embedded flash videos

    Embedded flash videos sometimes, though not always, play with a very jittery or juddery,( it's difficult to explain!), appearance. For example live streams in the ~BBC new website and sometimes in YouTube. in Youtube reducing the picture size seems to help eg from 480p to 360p. This option is not available on the BBC website but unticking the 'enable hardware acceleration' Tickbox in the Flash preferences works. This is the preference panel you get when you right click on a video when it's playing. I am running OS X 10.7.1 and flash player 10.3.183.5. The same thing happens in Safari 5.1, Firefox 6.0 and Chrome 13.0.782.215.
    Any explanation or common experience?

    HI,
    Adobe advises repairing permissions when having problems with embedded video. Give it a try.
    Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Embedded videos from Viddler unable to play

    I have been having this problem for quite some time now and it finally bugged me enough to post about it. Anyway, on the Gawker Media sites (specifically Deadspin for this example) embedded videos from Viddler show a "Video not found" error message. However, if you get the link from the video and watch it directly it works fine. Also if you go to viddler.com and watch any video, they work fine. It appears as though something is messed up in how Firefox handles the embedding of the videos. Not sure if it is an HTML5 thing, a Gecko thing, or what but it works fine in G0ogle Chrome.
    Here is a link of an example of what I am talking about:
    http://deadspin.com/5833185/espn-is-airing-a-tv-commercial-for-grantland
    and if you get the link for the video and go to it directly it works fine:
    http://cdn.static.viddler.com/flash/as3/full-publisher.swf?ref=&key=8ed093e8
    The actual link was:
    http://www.viddler.com/embed/8ed093e8/
    but I had to change it to
    http://www.viddler.com/player/8ed093e8/
    based on advice from:
    http://www.viddler.com/forums/bugs/7491/
    I am running Firefox v7.b1 and I tried it both with and without my add-ons enabled. My Flash and all other plugins are up to date. I had the exact same problem with Firefox v6 as well. Please fix this issue. Thanks

    Based on rschmitty's reply, I attempted a clean install. This seems to fix everything. Not sure where, when, or how something got screwed up, but this is a fairly simple fix. It even continued to work after installing all my add-ons.
    After a little research I did find a couple things that can cause this to mess up. Viddler is very picky about their hotlinking and tries to control who links to their videos. Thus if you go to about:config and change the network.http.sendRefererHeader (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.http.sendRefererHeader) to anything other than the default of '2' that messes up any video links from Viddler, not just the links on Gawker Media websites. This change is often required by websites like http://crazedlist.org/ or any other mass craigslist searching sites. Just remember that if you change the network.http.sendRefererHeader option, you must change it back for videos to work.
    Another thing that can screw with the Viddler video linking are add-ons which basically do the same thing as modifying the network.http.sendRefererHeader option. One such add-on is [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/refcontrol/ RefControl], which if you change from anything but the default will cause the 'Video Not Found' error. If you use add-ons like RefControl be sure to add viddler.com to your whitelist/normal referer list so that this doesn't happen.
    This is not an exhaustive list of things which can cause this problem, but it appears that anything like the two above examples which mess with the http referer header will cause it. Maybe reinstalling is not necessary if you simply check anything that may be modifying this option.

  • How do I make a thumbnail that has a gallery inside? And how can I make this gallery have embeded videos from vimeo + Images?

    Hello,
    I'm pretty new to Muse so I don't know a lot about it, but I researched a lot and didn't find an answer to this question.
    I'm trying to make a portfolio website. The website will be a 12 thumbnails. But each thumbnail is one project, not an image.
    When you click one of the thumbnails, I want it to be a lightbox that will show embeded videos from vimeo mixed with images.
    Ex: A coca-cola projet.
    Main page has a thumbnail of a coca cola image. When you click on it, it opens a lightbox with a coca-cola film, when i click to the right arrow, it shows a cocacola poster, then another poster, then another video. (but they are all part of this gallery, that is inside the thumbnail.
    Can you guys help me?
    Thanks!!!

    I don't understand why my thumbnails don't work.
    I dragged a composition lightbox inside another one. But I still have the first lightbox there and can't delete.
    When I try my wabsite i see this:
    But then I click the thumbnail and I see this:
    And when I click one of those 3 I see this:
    Like it is making a double lightbox.
    but it doesn't show the images, it's like the first lightbox is on top of the second one.
    How I deal with this?  =/

  • Embedding Flash in HTML using Dreamweaver - stopped working

    Hi all, not really sure what's going on, but I've done this many times before and it's worked fine.
    I've previously embedding Flash videos I've created in Premiere and/or converted using other software.  I simply drag and drop the Flash file where I want it and then adjust layout using code/design etc and that's it, job done.  It's always played back fine.
    Now for some reason I've tried doing it again this morning and can't figure it out.  When I preview the file it doesn't even show the video, but instead displays all the icons for the controls at once in a grid where the video is meant to be.  I've tried in IE, Firefox and Chrome, updated drivers, windows, Adobe, Flash etc all to no avail.
    I've even tried doing it in a blank HTML page in case some of the template I might have been using was interfering for some strange reason; still no luck.  What's even stranger is that a site I created last year is also now not displaying Flash (FLV) content locally, but is working fine on the server.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    (CS5 Dw:V11 build 4993, Win7 64bit SP1)

    Im' having a VERY similar problem with a few estra 'happy' moments. I have a blog (WP). On this simple and VERY basic blog (with almost NO plug ins) I have attempted to embed FLV videos with CS$ Dreamweaver code.
    (This code is different in CS$ than it was in earlier versions as it now calls to the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf as the player and uses Flashvars to pass the value of the FLV. PReviously, it was four simple lines of code that pointed directly to the SWF)
    Here was my process - I encoded the files with AE and Media Encoder to end up with Transparent FLV's. These, I then setup in Dreamweaver so I could copy the embed code. On my first attempt, it worked PERFECTLY. I was testing one particular flv, got the code and inserted it into the blog page with some special CSS to position it.
    The movie played perfectly.
    Then things got weird.
    I was excited I had a solution, so I went to put another video on another page. No luck. The second page was playing the video from the first page. As if I had copied the same code, but I hadn't. I copied code that was 'pointing' to the new file, but for whatever reason, the new file would not play.
    I did EVERYTHING. I deleted all the pages and strted fresh. I deleted the FLV's and reuploaded them. I created different folders and put each flv in it and created index.html files for each (assuming possibly there was a hardcoded element in the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf). I copied and pasted back and forth for nearly 6 hours.
    Nothing. Each time I would copy and paste code into a blog page, it would simply pull the original video.
    THEN....things got worse.
    I pulled one video off of the server, and now NONE work. I can't get ANY videos to play. Worse, I still have the 'express install' link showing.
    Ok, so here is what I am trying to figure out;
    Does the NEW DW CS4 code somehow have control over the file that is called? Further, HOW can I get more than one FLV to play across a whole blog site.
    Here is a link to one of the pages that HAS code but is calling NOTHING. And please know that I have left copies of the necessary files ALL over the server. So they are in the root, in the 'files' folder, in the talent folder and everywhere.
    Is there a conflict flash hits when there are multiple FLV's being called? Is there a way to do this? Please help....
    Thank you

    Hi.
    Does this only open on that specific site?
    In any case, you may want to:
    - instruct Firefox to handle PDF files in a specific way by going into Tools > Options > Applications and selecting the option you want for the PDF files
    - reinstall Adobe Reader and its Firefox plugin
    - install another reader instead of Adobe Reader. I recommend Foxit Reader ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ), since it's free, VERY light, VERY fast, safe and also has a Firefox plugin (make sure you don't have both Adobe Reader plugin and Foxit Reader plugin enabled/installed at the same time in Firefox)
