Embedded labview module and blackfin 533

I need some advice for Embedded labview program integrated with Blackfin 533 Processor. The purpose is to input a value from a GUI in labview and store in a port/location in the blackfin board. Then, upon knowing this location, i can extract the value and use it in my main program in visualDSP.
Anyone know how to integrate them together as well as identifying where the value is stored in the blackfin? Im using blackfin 533 with Ez-Kit lite.
thanks

Just to be clear: The version of VisualDSP++ you need is not just VisualDSP++4.0, but VisualDSP++ 4.0 for LabVIEW Embedded. It is a special version created especially for use with LabVIEW Embedded. Go to the Help>About window in VDSP and verify that this is the product name. The evaluation version should not matter as long as the evaluation period has not expired.

  • Integrating a DSP and BlackFin Modules with LV 8.5

    Hi all,
I am just posting my last trouble when I was using Labview software for an academic work.
So I'll try to summarize the topic.
So, the point was to integrate LB with DSP board specifically model BF537 from BlackFin.
The problem is: Not all version of Labview can support DSP Module (this is an extension that you should install to do the integration possible) and BlackFin Embedded application for BF537 as well.
Just to clarify: you should have the correct version of LV because after that, you should install DSP Module and then, BlackFin Embedded.
The LV 8.6 supports BlackFin Embedded but doesn't supports DSP Module. The LV 2009 and LV 2011 we have the same issue. You can read the respective guide of these versions just to check it out.
The only version of LV that can support DSP Module and Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors is version 8.5.
The problem would be solved if both Modules(DSP and BlackFin) would are easily available on NI site or other website.
I spent many hours searching with no success. For LV 8.5 the correct DSP Module is 2.5 and I could not find this specific Module on any ws. Regarding Module for Blackfin Processors I have no problem to download it.
I tried to contact NI local support of my country but they have slow answers and any engineer can help me although all have been very attentive by phone.
My solutions was contact USA engineer. The local team is very efficient and some minutes later the DSP Module 2.5 was available to download in this link:
    ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing
    (mario_2.5.zip)
If anyone has problem to download the file, please let me know. I will be so glad to help.

    Hello.
Could you send us your VI (v8.5) please? Thanks.

  • Is it possible to take a labview application and compile it to run on an embedded processor?

    Hi
I was wondering if anybody out there knows if it is possible to take a labVIEW application and compile it to run on an embedded processor (e.g. ARM7)?
If so does anybody know what the required capability of the target processor is (i.e. RAM, ROM etc.) and what tools I need.
    Many thanks
    Ash

    Ash,
There is also another option for processors like the ARM7.  You can load a PDA OS on it and use the LabVIEW PDA toolkit.  The LabVIEW PDA toolkit is MUCH easier to use and is quite a bit less expensive.  You will have the problem of getting the OS correctly configured, but in the long run, it may still be cheaper and easier.  I use it quite a bit with my Dell Axim X51v which has this processor and Windows Mobile 5.  There are still problems to work out, but not nearly what there are with LabVIEW Embedded.
If you want to go the LabVIEW Embedded route and you need some help, let us know on this forum.  There are several of us that have experience and can help to guide you.
    Hope that this helps,

  • Deployment Utility and Labview Modules

    Hi,
I am fairly new to TestStand. I have created a TestStand Sequence that calls a number of Labivew modules. Everything works fine on my development machine.
I am trying to deploy this to another machine running a base development license. I ran the development utility and created a setup.exe which I have just installed on the 2nd machine.
When I go to run my test sequence on the 2nd machine it cannot locate the labview modules called in the test sequence.
    So my questions are:
Can TestStand deploy these files for me, or should I do it manually?
If it can, is there a specific folder I should store all labview moduels on my development machine so the deployment utility picks them up?
Is there any option in the Deployment Utility that I need to set for TestSTand to pick up these modules?
Is there any special option I should set in the sequence file? Search area???
    Thanks & Regards,
    Don1.

    Hi,
You should be able to see the LabVIEW VI's in your deployment tool. If you can't then that is why you can't see them on the target system.
Are you using a TestStand WorkSpace/Project files?

  • Response time between LabVIEW w/DSC module and RSLinx OPC server hosting FlexLogix PLC tags too long

We are experiencing communication response time delays between LabVIEW with DSC module and RsLinx OPC Server hosting all FlexLogix PLC tags (around 500-600 tags).
The nominal response time for the system watchdog is < 500ms, but we occasionally have spikes of up to 1.5 seconds once every few days even when the system is idling.
Changing more than six PLC connected shared variables at the same time from LabVIEW also causes the watchdog response times to spike above 500ms.
Our watchdog is programmed so that LabVIEW toggles the watchdog bit to 1 as soon the shared variable event detects that the PLC has toggled it to 0. The PLC, however, waits 300 ms until it toggles it.
    Our system:
    Windows XP SP3
    LabVIEW 9 F3
    RSLinx Opc Server v2.54
    Allen Bradley FlexLogix PLC

What is your update rate set for in the RSLink OPC server?
You aren't toggling the same flag from both ends are you?

  • Difference between LV PDA module and touch-panel module

What is the difference between LabView's PDA module and touch-panel module? I want to recompile my application developed on a Win XP environment for a touch-screen single board computer running Win CE. From what I have read, it seems like both PDA module and the touch-panel module would be able to do the task - but what is the difference between the two modules?

    sstolteq:
The LabVIEW PDA Module allows you to create applications that run on Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket PC devices. It is also compatible with several NI data acquisitions devices, including the USB-6008, USB-6009, CF-6004,
    DAQCard-6062E, DAQCard-6024E, and the DAQCard-6036E.
The LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, on the other side, allows you to create human-machine interface (HMI) applications to
communicate with NI embedded real-time platforms such as Compact
FieldPoint, CompactRIO, and Compact Vision System. It is optimized for developing
HMIs to Windows CE touch panel devices such as the NI TPC-2006.
I hope this helps and please let me know if I can help further.

  • Does a method exist in order to take a labview executible and derive the source code VIs used to create it?

Has there been any type of methodology for taking a labview executible and extrapolating the source code VIs used for creating the VI?

Officially they are embeded in the exe in an undocumented way. So you can't easily get at them. But you can always attach a remote debug session and get into the diagrams that way. That is if the diagrams were not removed during the build, which requires a conscious and extra action by the person to remove the according check mark in the build options of the project. So by default all diagrams are totally gone and are definitely not possible to get back from the executable, unless as smercurio has mentioned your name might be Carnac

  • How can I change the ordering of the parameters listed under the Labview module?

Is there anyway to change the ordering of the parameters listed in the parameters table under the Labview module tab in TestStand?  Each of these parameters printout in my report, but I need to change the ordering of the parameters in the report.  Thanks.

    Hi,
There is not a way to manually change the order of the parameter values in the Code Module Parameters Table, but there are a few options for configuring the report ordering of these parameter values.
Option 1: Use the Additional Results in the Properties tab to add a Custom Result. You can then save the parameter values to these custom results and order them they way you desire. This ordering will be reflected in the report.
Option 2: You could use a Post Action in the Properties tab to swap the parameter values that are saved to Locals.ResultList[0].AdditionalResults at run-time. This would require the use of a local variable to serve as a temporary placeholder for one of the values in order to successfully swap the values.

  • Encoder Speed with NI 9215 module and cDAQ-9172

I've a NI cDAQ-9172 with the NI9215 analog input module, and I want to estimate the speed with an optical encoder (OMRON E6A2-CW3C). My approach was, making a comparison with a point in the midle of the high of the signal, ie 4V, making this way a perfect square signal with 1of high. After that I use the Tone Measurements and the Timing and Transition Measurements modules to calculate the frequency of the wave form, and this way I'm able to calculate the RPM speed.
The problem with this solution, is that even with the engine at a constant speed of 746RPM, measured with a stroboscope, Labview give me a high variable values between 730RPM to 760RPM, and I can't solve this problem because I really need an accurate measurement.
Should I buy for example the NI 9401 module to make this measurement? If so, does any one knows how to build a VI to get the encoder speed?
In attach I send the VI that I'm using to calculate the speed.
    Thank you for help.

    Hi,
The best way to measure a speed through a quadrature encoder is to use the counters that are inside the cDAQ chassis.
With the 9172 chassis, you need a digital I/O module (9401) in order to access the counters.
With the new generation of chassis (9178), you don't need the 9401 because you can connect your encoder signals to the BNC.

  • Help in Freq Modulation and demodulation

    Hi,
I was asked to design Frequency modulation and demodulations without using modulation tool kits.
I some how managed to construct frequency modulation, i also got the output.
But if the graphs are observed, we can c that message signal is in between 0 to 0.1 whereas the time domain output is varying between 0 to 10000.
I need help in this issue and also demodulating the same.
I had no clue of labview when i started.
I have to complete by 10th Nov .. Plz help.

    Hello,
You can start with using the shipping examples. In order to access them please navigate to Help >> Find Examples… >> Toolkits and Modules >> Modulation >> Simulation >> MT ASK Equalization.  Please also remember that all Toolkits and Modules include a help file. In order to access the NI LabVIEW Modulation Toolkit Help file please navigate to Start >> All Programs >> National Instruments >> Modulation Toolkit >> LabVIEW Support. Try doing a search for “MT Modulate ASK VI”.

  • LAbVIEW 2012 and Solidworks Examples update

    Hi,
I noticed that the examples shipped with NI Softmotion module is not updated (SoftMotion>Mechatronics). Although the directory has been changed, the example still points to LabVIEW 2009 folder. I also would like to ask whether these examples was tested with LabVIEW 2012 as it doesn't run with my machine which has LabVIEW 2012 and Solidworks 2010 SP4.
    Your help is much appreciated.
P.S: I apologize for double posting since no single reply was mentioned on Motion forum.

The problem seems to be with Scan Engine.
Here is a screenshot of the error mesage when deployment:
    Configuration:
    OS: Windows 8 Final
LabVIEW Version: 2012 with all updates installed
    NI SoftMotion Version: 2012
    Solidworks Version: 2010 SP4
I doubt the problem lies in OS as all examples are running flawlessly except that with Mechatronics Examples. Hope to get any response from NI SoftMotion Team. Thanks for your assistance in advance.

  • Relay module and DAQ Assistant

    Hi everyone!
I'm a Labview beginner and currently dealing with a priori easy business. Recently I got a USB Relay Module to be incorporated in an alarm system. Let's say if one gets a certain value bigger than other, the relay should close and activate a siren (see example attached). For this I've used the DAQ assistant and configured one of the module output channel. By using a simple boolean switch, I can easily close and open the relay. However, if I use a case structure, an error is obtained, as the DAQ Assistant for one output can be only used once. I mean, if the relay is closed and I'd like to get back the original situation, i.e. opened relay, what should I do?
    Schematically:
    -if A>B, then closed relay
    -if A<B, then opened relay
Sorry for the messy explanation, but I think you get the point.
    Thanks in advance

I just got it. The problem was that in the main vi, not in the example I attached, the same output via DAQ Assistant was configured for two different case structures. Obviously the relay module was going completely mad, since I had two independent pairs of TRUE and FALSE working at the same time. If I get, for instance, TRUE for one case structure and FALSE for the other, the switch doesn't know what to do. Hope now it's clear...
