Embedding a Flash movie on a secure page

Hi,
I've used the Dreamweaver CS3 wizard to embed a Flash movie
in an ASP page and it works fine.
However, when I move the page on a SSL connection the Flash
movie won't display. If I change all the
http:// references to https:// in the scripts
(like I saw on an old post) I only get a white box instead of the
movie.
Please see the attached bit of code.
The old post I read was referring to an old version of Flash
but I doubt that it would make a difference?
Thanks.

Has the Scripts folder been uploaded and pathed properly?

  • Embed a Flash movie in existing GoLive page? HELP!!

    I want to embed a Flash movie in existing GoLive page. I have a .flv file that I imported to a flash document. I published it and it made a .html, .swf, .js and Skin.js files. I don't want to use the .html file it made. How do I embed the SWF file and also have the skin.swf show up and work on my GL page? The Skin.swf is the controller.
    I'm new at working with Flash files and I can't find any tutorials on this subject.
    I'm working in GL CS2

    Copy the OBJECT/EMBED or JAVASCRIPT source code from the auto-generated HTML file and paste that in your GoLive HTML.

  • Embedding flash movie in a web page

    I have created a flash movie using actionscript 3 and an xml file with a list of images for a slideshow. After clicking publish, I can view the slideshow by previewing the html file it creates for you. However, I want to embed this flash movie in a different web page. When I try to add it in Dreamweaver, by dragging and dropping the swf file into the page, a flash placeholder is generated, but the movie does not play when previewed. It is just blank white space.
    Now I watched the Tom Green tutorials on "flash the easy way" and my flash (CS4 professional) did NOT generate the AC_RunActiveContent.js files. I did find and download the file and manually added it to my Scripts folder. Still no joy.
    I will note that the html file that embeds the flash video is in a different directory than the movie itself. Surely this cannot be the issue, otherwise people's websites would be incredibly messy with multiple flash videos. I am trying to put all the flash movies in their own child directories of a /flash directory to keep them neat and organized.
    I am not sure what to do next. How do you make the dang thing play on a web page that is in another directory?

    If you are loading content ala using an xml file, that may be the source of the problem.  When you load a Flash file into a web page, that web page becomes the frame of reference for any files that the swf loads.  So if you tested this where the html file was in the same folder, but then moved things into different folders, then you need to adjust the Flash to load things as if it is in the html file's folder

  • Multiple flash movies on 1 web page?

    So, I'm working on a new site. Very graphical and will have a
    lot of cool bells and whistles. At first, I was creating it
    entirely in flash but I abandoned the idea because I just can't
    help but click the back button when I feel I need to, and doing
    that takes you all the way back to the previous HTML page instead
    of previous thing in the flash movie and it gets annoying fast, and
    I know if it happens to me it'll happen to plenty of others. So, I
    was thinking about just building it as html/dhtml with all the cool
    css tricks everyone and their mom are doing these days.
    The old versions was set up with one big movie for the
    interface, and smaller movies for the content that get loaded in
    with the loader component. Worked pretty well. So, I was thinking..
    what if I still kept those content pieces and loaded them in over
    the HTML, using DHTML to position stuff and the little
    wmode=transparent thingy so you can still see the background HTML
    bitz that need to be there. I mean, I know it can be done and how
    to do but my question is, what if I want to have the menu in flash
    too? and maybe the site logo animated? Or a rotating flash add at
    the top that's loading in a few different ads and cycling through
    each one like a slideshow? Will 3-4 different flash elements on 1
    page be bad? My first guess is it will slow things down a lot, but
    will it? I mean, it's not HUGE files it's more like smaller bits..
    logo, menu, ad and content .. the content will mostly just be text
    and some photos, nothing too fancy. I don't want it to slow down
    people's computers OR take forever to load/display (which it
    shouldn't). So it will be HTML pages loading in flash movies, so
    the back button will finally work!
    The reason I'm considering doing this is more for font issues
    than anything else, and some cool transparency effects I can
    accomplish with smaller files and better compatibility than if I
    use PNG files
    Any thoughts? is this a good idea or should I just try to do
    it all with DHTML stuff? I can do it that way, i was just thinking
    using Flash might be easier & better for some parts...

    Yes, it is fine to do that.

  • Postage stamp effect from the Show Me flash movie on Elements home page

    The Elements home page on adobe.com has a little flash movie labeled Show Me that demos some of the nifty new features of version 4.0. In the Enhance section of this movie, right after the liquify/stained glass demo, the picture is cropped using a postage stamp effect. The demo seems to indicate that the selection and cropping are done at the same time, with whatever tool was used. I found a post about using the Custom Shape Tool's Objects.Stamp1/2 shape to create a postage stamp effect, but this demo shows it to be much simpler.
    Any ideas on which tool was used in this demo movie?
    Thanks!
    Gary

    From the video it looks like they are using the postage stamp custom shape as the base of a clipping group (the family group photo is on a layer above a blank layer and is grouped with it -- when the lower layer filled with a black postage stamp custom shape the portions of the grouped layer that intersect the shape become visible). I don't have PSE4, so I can't say what they are doing for sure.

  • Flash Player 10 and secure pages

    Is anybody having problems viewing Flash files in Flash Player 10 over secure connections? I signed up for a website, and their login is secure, which is fine with me. Thing is, once I get into their members area, all of the Flash just stops working and some even flat out disappears. I complained at them about it, but they told me that it is my browser and not their website (how typical.) I've tried it in IE 8, FF2/FF3 on PC, and FF2, Safari on Mac, but the result is still the same. I think they have the problem because I can reproduce it on all of the computers at my house, but they say it is me. So, who is right? Me or them?

    We have the problem in all browsers on all platforms. I should note, however, that we have the problem with Flash Video and not any other Flash objects.
    We're hosted on a Windows 2003 server, and to the best of my ability to look at the IIS configurations we don't have any content expirations set at all. I've looked at the headers sent to the client and none of them relate to expiration of content. For now, we've just decided that if our client wants secure pages, they don't get Flash videos and that is all there is to it. Of course, this will last about as long as them not signing the contract, so we're still looking. There's got to be a solution to this somewhere, but nobody seems willing to post it.

  • How to position a flash movie within a web page?

    Hi guys.
    I have a flash movie that is going to be loaded within
    another flash movie via an xml list.
    How can I set the position to load the inserted movie to the
    center of the page?
    At the moment it loads in the top left hand corner.

    Hi there.
    Thanks for replying.
    the website in question is www,ridethespiral.net and if you
    click on pilot map you will see the error.
    The main (Background) flash file is from a template site so I
    didn't write the code.
    But I think this is it.
    //Function used to load external SWF files and call the
    loader MC -------------------------------------------
    function loadMovieClip (externalTarget:String,

    var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader ();
    var listenerLoad:Object = new Object ();
    listenerLoad.onLoadStart = function (target:MovieClip) {
    loader._visible = true;
    ZigoEngine.doTween (loader,'_alpha',100,0.5,"easeOutExpo");
    //Loading Progress
    listenerLoad.onLoadProgress = function (target:MovieClip,
    bytesLoaded:Number, bytesTotal:Number):Void {
    percent = Math.round (bytesLoaded / bytesTotal * 100);
    loader.percentTxt.text = percent + "%";

  • Problem inserting Flash movie into a Dreamweaver page

    Hi, I've inserted a .swf movie on this page.  It used to work, but doesn't now. In Dreamweaver (CC), when I highlight the movie and click 'Play' in the Property Inspector it works (but doesn't in 'Live' view within DW).
    Please be gentle about my code. I'm a hobbyist and started this site about 7 years ago  so don't have time to keep up with latest coding trends! Answers re. non-appearance of movie only, please.

    Flash really isn't the way to do this anymore, very few people viewing your site with a mobile device are going to be able to see your .swf. Adobe stopped mobile Flash development a few years back and most devices that used to be able to see Flash, no longer ship with a Flash plug-in. Certain devices, like all Apple iOS devices, never had the ability and there is no way to add it to those.
    Since it appears when uploaded, I would guess the reason it doesn't work locally likely has something to do with your machine's security settings, especially if Microsoft is involved in the equation somewhere. If it works when uploaded, you're good to go.
    HTML5 <video>, CSS3 and jQuery (javascript) are now the default for video and animation for websites since they're compatible with virtually all devices used to browse the internet.

  • Embedding expanding flash ads in existing web page.. help!

    Hi guys!
    I am having a problem and can't find a site anywhere that
    helps. My company have just started selling expanding flash ad
    spaces but I have no idea how to make these work on a current and
    very clunky site. The space on the page I have for skyscraper ads
    is 120px wide but obviously, flash ads that expand are much wider
    ((my current one is 240px wide) and need to expand over the rest of
    the content. Does anyone know of a site or can tell me what I have
    to do in my HTML and CSS to make these work?
    Thanks,
    Amy

    Flash by default goes to the top layer when you put it in a
    web page (an annoyance sometimes, but very convenient for this sort
    of thing). Just size your ad for the non-expanded skyscraper, and
    it should work.
    This may not be the package you are using, but if you go to
    dartmotif.com (a DoubleClick/Google site) and download their ad kit
    and some ads, you'll find some documentation that may answer other
    questions.

  • Flash not displaying on url page

    Hello. I embedded a flash (.flv) file in html page via dreamweaver cs4. the page displays the flash locally, and also remotely if i remote desktop and view. However when I launch the website via live url (www.sitename.com/example.html) all i get is a blank white box where the flash content should be. I've checked permissions via flash security settings, and can't seem to make it work. I believe the code is valid or it wouldnt play on the local and remote desktops. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

    well for grins i decided to embed the video/audio into a full swf file versus flv with link from swf. as long as the file is fully embedded in swf, it plays on the web just fine. for some reason with linkback from swf (think 11kb) small file to the original flv it wont play on the actual URL. hope this helps anyone else, even though its not technically 'fixed', ill consider it a work-around for now.

  • Is there a better way to position a flash movie than ap div?

    I'm creating a new website(not yet active) and have a great flash movie for the home page.  I've place it in an ap div and of course it moves to a different position in different browsers. Is there any way I can get it to display correctly, or is there a better way to position the movie? Thanks.

    Of course. The following code is for the home page:
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    #page-background
    #container

  • Flash movie in IE modal window freezes

    Hi,
    We have a Flash application, written in AS 2, that presents system simulation to learners.  During the process we present "audio popups" using External Interface to call a JavaScript function that ultimately calls window.showModalDialog (It's for a corporate environment that requires IE).  The page it opens contains a flash file. When one of these audio popups occurs on the first step of the simulation, the flash in the popup is frozen.
    Is anyone aware of a scenario that could cause files in modal windows (or possibly just 2 Flash movies on the same page) to freeze up?  The file loads, but doesn't play beyond frame 1 and is unresponsive if there is a button.
    I can change the Flash file in the popup and the result is always the same, so it's not the file in the popup.
    I've replaced the Flash file on the root page with a simple launch file that only calls the popup and it works fine.
    Also replacing the modal window with a window.open seems to work as well, but right now we'd like to continue using the modal.
    Possibly worth noting, if the modal window is open for too long, I get a "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly...." notice when I close the popup.  Not sure if it's related.
    Thanks for any help,
    Jeff

    Hi kp
    Is this Captivate 1 or 2? There are no issues to my knowledge
    with either playing the movie in IE7. I use IE7 and see movies just
    fine.
    My question about version stems from the fact that there are
    typically more files to distribute with Captivate 2 than there are
    with Captivate 1. However, this can also depend on what you have
    selected when you publish. For example, in Captivate 1, you would
    have three files to ship if you used the .SWF output with the Full
    Screen option. There would be two HTML files and a .SWF.
    With Captivate 2, assuming you haven't deviated from the
    defaults, you have four files. Two .SWFs, one .HTM and a JavaScript
    file.
    When you said you see a "black" screen, does this mean the
    screen is really black? Or was that a typo and you meant to say it
    was "blank" instead. If so, you need to be aware that there is an
    additional file you need to include. If you fail to copy the
    JavaScript file, the page is blank. I'm thinking this is a strong
    possiblity here.
    Cheers... Rick
