Problem inserting Flash movie into a Dreamweaver page
Hi, I've inserted a .swf movie on this page. It used to work, but doesn't now. In Dreamweaver (CC), when I highlight the movie and click 'Play' in the Property Inspector it works (but doesn't in 'Live' view within DW).
Please be gentle about my code. I'm a hobbyist and started this site about 7 years ago so don't have time to keep up with latest coding trends! Answers re. non-appearance of movie only, please.
Flash really isn't the way to do this anymore, very few people viewing your site with a mobile device are going to be able to see your .swf. Adobe stopped mobile Flash development a few years back and most devices that used to be able to see Flash, no longer ship with a Flash plug-in. Certain devices, like all Apple iOS devices, never had the ability and there is no way to add it to those.
Since it appears when uploaded, I would guess the reason it doesn't work locally likely has something to do with your machine's security settings, especially if Microsoft is involved in the equation somewhere. If it works when uploaded, you're good to go.
HTML5 <video>, CSS3 and jQuery (javascript) are now the default for video and animation for websites since they're compatible with virtually all devices used to browse the internet.

Problems inserting flash movie into webpage
I am trying to insert 2 different flash movies on one webpage
One is a banner made in flash cs4 that works fine.
The other is a movie that I encoded with flash cs4 from a m4v file. When i test this file using the flash player on my computer everything works fine.
When i try to play on the webpage it shows there is flash object in dreamweaver but is blank in webbrowser.(right clicking shows there is flash there but nothing loads)
I have managed to get the movie working on a completly blank html file except that there are no controls (controls work fine in the flash player on computer)
As far as I can deduce it's not the html file because one swf file works ok
It's not how i'm inserting it onto the page because dreamweaver is doing it for me(and including the nessecary javascript etc)
It's not the movie because that works in the flash player on it's own.
So i'm stumped
any ideas guys?
(if it's any help the webpage it's on is www.csdrummer.co.uk , click on top right image on sidebar, has play button, under navigation)
Thanks
JamieI'm sorry I missunderstood the post from earlier. If I add the flv file in dreamweaver and upload the corresponding swf all works well but the flv file is 45mb which is a bit large for a 3 min video.
What i would like to do is turn this into a swf file. But this is where the problem is happening. THe swf when i export from flash wont work, comes up in the browser as doesn't load

I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
I am attempting to put a Flash Video (.flv) file on a standard HTML page in Dreamweaver.
When I either click the Insert Flash Video in the Common tab on the Dreamweaver toolbar, or if I choose Insert > Media > FLV to inert the video, I get the standard Dreamweaver FLV interface. I make my choices, click OK, and when the video is place on the page, I get the following dialog box:
"While executing inspectSelection in flvProgressive.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
with an OK button.
If I preview the page, all that loads are the various buttons of the skin that I have chosen and no video.
Anyone have an idea what is going on?
maylandmacAre you sure you aren't working with a template driven page?
When you insert media files into DW, it must write code in the <head> tags to reference Scripts necessary for Flash media to work on the web.
If you're working with a page that was created from a Template, the DWT page must have editable regions in the <head> tags, or you won't be able to add media to your web pages.

Need help inserting flash movie into article...
I inserted video into flash movie. I loaded the .swf & .fla files onto a server and went into the properties in the flash movie and pointed to the server to pull the .fla file & the movie controls .swf file. I can preview the movie in flash with no problem.
I am wanting to use the object code that was created as part of the .html file that was generated by flash and insert this into an article to display the video. I path the .swf file in the object code to point to where it resides on the server but the video will not play using just the object code. Is there a way to do this using just a object or embed code without the need for scripts?
(I am using CS4 version)If the swf file does not reside in the same folder as the html page that loads it, then if the video is dynamically loaded into the Flash file, chances are the targeting in the swf needs to be adjusted. If the swf files just targets the video by its filename alone, try putting the video file in the same folder as the html file and see if it gets loaded.

Problem inserting Flash video into DW CS3 template
I would like to insert some flash video into an editable
region inside a DW CS3 template. The template I am using seems to
work for literally hundreds of other pages I have made (none of
which, incidentally, have any media of any kind in them).
I have created the template and then an editable region and
now want to insert the flash video in that editable region. All
goes well until I hit the OK button. then I get this error--Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator The change will be discarded.
Can anyone suggest how I might over come this error??
Thx.
JaneThe problem is the detection option in the video insertion
dialog. If you
disable that option, you will not get the error.
This is a problem because the detection routine requires a
modification to
the <body> tag (insertion of an onload event) which you
cannot easily do in
a template child page.
If you really must have the detection, then you can copy and
past the load
call from a dummy (non-templated) page on which you have also
done the same
insertion. Post back with that page's body tag code, and I'll
show you
how....

Problems inserting flash movies with DW CS 3
I just started playing with DW CS3 and I got a feeling I'm
doing something wrong here but when I go place a Flash SWF in a
Dreamweaver HTML page the Flash portion of the page is not showing
up when the site is placed on a sever and looked at over the net,
I've tested it on a couple of PC's now so I'm pretty sure its not
the brower messing up.
Now’s here’s the crazy thing. When I preview the
page from DW CS3 the flash elements are coming up just fine!
They look like there is some kind of auto swfObject attached
to them cause of the removal of the "click here to activate this
control" message.
I've been using Dreamweaver 8 as a work around but this
seems really strange to me any one got any ideas on what’s
going on here?
Thx for the help
JohnThis file is not on the server -
http://www.lacybayliss.com/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
but this one is -
http://www.lacybayliss.com/web/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
This means that your link is not properly made to the script
file in the
head of that page, OR that your site definition is not
correct.

Help inserting a flash video into my web page
Hello!
I'd love some help inserting a flash video into my web page. My web page is hosted by Viviti, templated, and edited online. I can add html to it, and I have the html source for my flash video. I also have uploaded the flash file to the server. Since I am very html illiterate, though, I need some help rewriting the html script so it can be published. There are two problems- firstly, no 'headers' or 'body' allowed in the script- these are already a part of the template. Secondly, I don't know how to rewrite it to refer to the uploaded files. It's also imperative that the full screen mode functions. I've pasted the source code for the flash video here. Please help!!!
Thanks!

Problem inserting flash from flash 8
I am using flash 8 and dreamweaver 8. When I place a flash
header into my web page there is a space created between the header
and the lower content on the page. My publish setting in flash are
set at default. Thanks for any help. This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.
That would my guess too. Here are few other things to consider:
1) Does your FLV filename contain any spaces or special characters? If so, rename it without spaces as these can cause problems.
2) Output Screen Mimic project to a QuickTime MOV file. Then use Adobe Flash Encoder to convert the MOV to FLV.
3) When you tested your page, was it a live page on remote server? Did you upload the page and all supporting files to server (Scripts folder, SWF, FLV...)?

Embedding flash movie in a web page
I have created a flash movie using actionscript 3 and an xml file with a list of images for a slideshow. After clicking publish, I can view the slideshow by previewing the html file it creates for you. However, I want to embed this flash movie in a different web page. When I try to add it in Dreamweaver, by dragging and dropping the swf file into the page, a flash placeholder is generated, but the movie does not play when previewed. It is just blank white space.
Now I watched the Tom Green tutorials on "flash the easy way" and my flash (CS4 professional) did NOT generate the AC_RunActiveContent.js files. I did find and download the file and manually added it to my Scripts folder. Still no joy.
I will note that the html file that embeds the flash video is in a different directory than the movie itself. Surely this cannot be the issue, otherwise people's websites would be incredibly messy with multiple flash videos. I am trying to put all the flash movies in their own child directories of a /flash directory to keep them neat and organized.
I am not sure what to do next. How do you make the dang thing play on a web page that is in another directory? If you are loading content ala using an xml file, that may be the source of the problem. When you load a Flash file into a web page, that web page becomes the frame of reference for any files that the swf loads. So if you tested this where the html file was in the same folder, but then moved things into different folders, then you need to adjust the Flash to load things as if it is in the html file's folder

Inserting flash movie ...
Hi,
Maybe I am just stupid right now ... I have a large mpeg
movie from a client
that needs to go on their website, and here is what I do:
I open the Adobe Flash CS3 Video encoder, add the mpeg, set
my preferences,
and let the encoder convert it to a .flv and copy the file
into the web
site. In DW I then chose "insert flash movie", chose the skin
etc. and it
creates the necessary files and the script. Then I upload the
whole thing
with all its dependent files (including the scripts folder, I
also took the
script out of the folder and put it in the root, nothing) ...
and nothing.
The page loads, but the movie is invisible! If I mouse over
it behaves as if
there is indeed something on the page. But nothing visible.
I've done it now a dozen times in a row, then I switched to
another web on
another server, same result ... nothing visible, no movie.
I am so frustrated I could ....
HELP
BarbaraWhen you moved the script, did you correct the path to it in
your page?

after adding a flashfile .swf into a dreamweaver page and trying to run it, I get an error message related to Javascript
I have no trouble viewing other websites with (most likely), flashfiles.
Here is the the PopUp message:
"Adobe-warning Adobe Flash PLayer has stopped a potentrially unsafe operation......"In newer versions of Flash Pro, you can export to HTML5 Canvas, that's probably what they're talking about: Flash Professional Help | Creating and publishing an HTML5 Canvas document

Embedding a Flash movie on a secure page
Hi,
I've used the Dreamweaver CS3 wizard to embed a Flash movie
in an ASP page and it works fine.
However, when I move the page on a SSL connection the Flash
movie won't display. If I change all the
http:// references to https:// in the scripts
(like I saw on an old post) I only get a white box instead of the
movie.
Please see the attached bit of code.
The old post I read was referring to an old version of Flash
but I doubt that it would make a difference?
Thanks.Has the Scripts folder been uploaded and pathed properly?

I often insert .swf files in my html pages however, lately I
have been trying to insert flash movies in the middle of a bunch of
text. I do something similar with and then, using the property
inspector's align dialog box, I either set the image to be on the
right, the left, or one of the other options. By doing that, the
image looks the way I want it to with the text wrapping around it.
I see that the same type of options appear in the property
inspector when I insert a .swf file but I don't get the desired
result as I do with images. The only way I can fake the look I want
is by putting the flash movie in it's own cell in a table and
breaking up the text above, below or next to the movie the best way
that I can but this is not reliable and I sometimes end up with too
much white space. Is there a parameter I need to set or a style to
add to the swf object? I'd appreciate any suggestions.Thank
you. This file is not on the server -

Insert JAVA3D CODE into a HTML PAGE
My java 3d code is working perfectly with javac and java command. I can see the result of my game in the appletviewer
But when I want to insert the code into a html page,it dosen t work
the java applet remain grey....
Can someone tell me why and someone can tell me how to solve it
Could you give me an example of HTML page using java 3D code with mulitple classesI don't know Java3D, but I know a little applets. :)
Are you sure your browser understands the 3D API ?
applets work with AWT and JDK1.1, (it's your browser than run your applet and not your jdk 1.3 or 1.4), so peraphs you should download a plug-in to run Java3D in your browser ?
for example, if you want to use swing, you have to download a plug-in in your browser.
and another problem is that different browsers work differently with a same applet : for example, IE 6.0 don't run than IE 4.0 or Netscape 3.0
it's the internet's way of life... :)
Good luck,
David
PS : sorry for my english, I'm from Paris ! :)
