Embedding pdf in mobile app

Hi there,
I have played around with creating an editable pdf and deploying to android devices. It would have to be a distributed pdf because i cannot guarantee signal.
In isolation it works well. I am interested in taking it a step further and creating a mobile application which has some workflow before and after the PDF form i have created.....is this possible?

What type of workfow are you thinking about? Most likely we do not support any type of workflow outside the FormsCentral workflow (which is : each filler fills up the an empty form and submit the data directly to the FormsCental response table).

Is there a way to convert a fillable form to a mobile app?

I have a business process that involves a network of affiliated people collecting data via a particular document which they then sign and return to me. This could be something like a customer filling in a complex order entry form and returning it to me to place an order. You could also imagine this like the IRS which provides forms for individuals to fill in and return.
I would like to offer, as an alternative, a mobile app (iOS and Android) that is based on the same forms. Imagine, for example, the IRS forms: there are desktop apps (such as TurboTax) that put a GUI form on screen, collect the data, and produce the forms necessary to print out and/or submit electronically. I want to present my forms in a mobile app using 'native' UI widgets.
Is there an Adobe tool that can do this conversion process? I know I can use Acrobat and convert documents from Word to fillable PDF form. And I believe I can use Adobe DC to convert fillable PDF forms to web forms. Is there something similar to take me from fillable PDF to mobile app?

TurboTax or H&R Block Tax software only print a copy of the inputted data to a PDF for the client's records. The input screens and data storage are all independent of the PDF printer.

You link to PDFs the same way you hyperlink to anything else.

The manner in which PDFs are handled varies by the end user's device, preferences, plugins, helper apps, etc... which you cannot control. So providing a straight link to the file is the best you can do.

Adobe Error when opening embedded PDF on IE (Sequenced with App-V 5 SP2)

Hi,
Lately we have packaged Adobe Reader XI with App-V 5 SP2 but we are getting an error on some users when they are trying to open embedded PDF on Internet Explorer.
The below screenshot is the error that is currently popping up when users try to open embedded PDF

Does Adobe offer a mobile app for editing PDFs?

I'M looking for a mobile app that can be used on a Chromebook or iPad that provides the PDF editing functions offered by Acrobat. Does Adobe offer such a product? If not, what do you recommend from the currently available apps.

You need to sign up for google maps API here : http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html, get your API key. You need this otherwise it will not work. Thendownload the SDK, from here:http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/flash/ its on the right, on step 2, "SDK"
the set up flash with the SDK, and then in your components inspector there will be a new folder saying google.
Drag that component onto the stage. Then add this code: information will need to be changed to suit your location and API KEY

Embedded pdf file in MS Excel cannot be open in Surface RT.

Hi,
I have a problem opening the embedded pdf file in my MS Excel in my Surface RT.
When I clicked on the pdf file, it shows "Cannot start the source application for this object".
I have the Adobe Reader Touch installed in my Surface RT.
Does anyone face the same problem? Any solution for the issue?

Adobe Reader Touch (Windows Store app with Modern UI) does not support embedded PDF files.
Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI) does support it. Unfortunately, Adobe Reader XI is not compatible with the Windows RT operating system. Hence, you are not able to install and run Adobe Reader XI on Surface RT.
I tried other PDF viewers (that are Windows Store apps), such as Microsoft Reader, Foxit Mobile PDF for Win8, on my Surface RT by changing the default PDF application. But none of them opened embedded PDF files successfully.
It looks like your only choice is to view those Microsoft Excel/Word files with embedded PDF on your desktop machine, laptop or other devices with Intel-based processors. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Font Folio and mobile apps

Do the fonts in Font Folio work with mobile apps?

Perhaps you had better describe what you mean by “mobile apps.”
If you are referring to PDF files created on a conventional computer under MacOS or Windows, fonts embedded in such PDF files will display as intended on mobile devices with the Adobe Reader on iOS and Android devices.
If you want to use fonts as part of an application you are developing, that is another issue entirely.

Lync 2013 mobile app does not work internally, SIP domain is Different than users UPN. not sure if that matters.

using the lync client connectivity tester on a pc on the same lan as my mobile client everything is green and it says its ready for use.
using my android galaxy s5 client on wifi on the same lan i get a screen with waiting to sign in spinning and an error at the top "we cant connect to the server check your network connection and server address, and try again."
i have uploaded the full client log files

some errors that stand out from this log file are:
1. ERROR HttpEngine: Certificate check fails: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.
2. <h2>401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.</h2>
<h3>You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.</h3>
i am using the correct creds, same creds i used on the analyzer tool.
in the analyzer tool i did have to fill in the username field because my sip domain is different then my users UPN. which from what ive read its required to use the username field.
i also filled in the username field in the mobile app with domain\username

I am trying to configure a reverseproxy on my netscaler which is in a 2 arm mode(dmz/internal) but I keep getting an error when configuring the monitor.
i used this guide to configure it

but continue to get this error in the netscaler monitor "Failure - TCP connection successful, but application timed out"
so the virtual server is never up, thinking about just changing it to tcp as a monitor so it stays up and i can at lesat get the vip up.
Also your link to the diagram shows it going to the reverse proxy but the one im using has it going directly to the front end servers.

When I try to open an embedded PDF file I get an error "The program used to create this object is AcroExch.exe.

When I try to open an embedded PDF file (Word doc) I get an error "The program used to create this object is AcroExch.exe. That program is either not installed on your computer, or is corrupt..." I've tried about everything from unchecking
protected mode at startup to removing & reinstalling Adobe. Nothing seems to fix this issue. Any other ideas?
This is happening on Adobe reader 9, 10 & 11 with MS Word 2010 & 2013. I've uninstalled, cleaned & reinstalled Reader 9, 10 & 11, as well as Acrobat 10 Pro & 11 Standard. Removed "Protected mode at startup, and changed
the default program for viewing from reader to Acrobat. This will not go away. It is affecting production at our company.

" Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder" . i can't find open containing folder in profile directory. it does give me the option to open the places.sqlite file using graphic converter. when i try that, graphic converter gives me a window saying that it can't be opened because it is corrupted or is not a file type supported by graphic converter.
i appreciate your help with a workaround to get the old bookmarks. that works. however, the problem has morphed from that concern to why adobe reader [the default app.] won't open firefox .sqlite files. is the problem in adobe reader or firefox? also, how can i tell if the places.sqlite file is corrupt?

Can I open embedded PDF documents in a PDF file on an iPad or Android?

Not sure if first post got through, the forum required me to change password ...
So I'm trying to open embedded PDF documents in a "parent" PDF document on an iPad.
On a PC the file opens fine.
On an iPad 2 with Adobe's Reader the same file says it's corrupted.
On PDF Pro the file opens, I can see the listing of embedded PDF documents but when I click on them nothing happens.
Is there a way for a PDF file with embedded hyperlinked PDF documents to be displayed on an iPad or Android?

pages on the iOS has access only to the camera roll to embedd pictures , but no external files.
Content from other documents like pdf can be copied and pasted by using Adobe Reader for iOS or the iBooks.app, open the pdf , copy text , then go to pages.app and paste text into the document there.

OBI Mobile App Designer raises Internal Server Error

Hi,
we are running OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 on a 64-bit environment including OBI Mobile App Designer. We have the problem that two components (mapviewer and bisearch) are not starting automatically, which might cause the problem that we get a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to open the Mobile App Designer.
Before this problem occured we were running the OBIEE sample RPD that comes with the OBIEE installation. At this point in time there was only one component not starting up (bisearch component). Accessing the OBI Mobile App Designer was not a problem at all. After some time we decided to change the RPD in order to have more meaningful data available. Since we changed the RPD we face major issues with this environment.
I tried to start the mapviewer and bisearch components manually in the Enterprise Manager. This worked only for the mapviewer. Before we changed the RPD all the components except bisearch were starting as expected. At this time accessing OBI Mobile App Designer was also not a problem.
A few days ago we were even not able to login to analytics, which told us that user or password must be wrong. I then tried to refresh GUIDs because of the new RPD that has been deployed recently. This resulted in a failure of BI server start after trying to refresh GUIDs with the respective settings in instanceconfig.xml and NQSconfig.ini. After resetting the configuration to the initial state we were able to start the components including BI server. What still remains is the issue with bisearch component and the problem related to OBI Mobile App Designer as mentioned before.
We observed that the log file of the managed server contains some error messages that do at least relate to the bisearch component. We did not find any helpful information to tackle this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues in order to be able to access OBI Mobile Designer again? Due to the fact that OBI Mobile App Designer uses BI Publisher there might be a problem with that.

Can a PDF be an app?

1. Can you offer fillable pdf forms as an iphone or an ipad app?     Can you store the PDF on the phone?
2.. If you store a PDF in the cloud...can somone access and display the PDF on their phone?
3. Does Adobe have a ist of third party developers we can contract with to create fillable pdf forms?
If we set up the signature field as just a field on the form, the user can touch this field and electronically sign the form.
So we get the power of electronic signatures on a PDF form.

What if we did it this way:
1.   collect the data fields for the form on an ipad or ipphone
2.   collect the signature as another data field
3.   create an xml word doc......integrate the data fields into the word doc
4.   convert the word doc to a pdf
5.   store the pdf in the cloud
6.   the user can access the pdf from his phone... he could share access with others.
does this work?

klm: 1) The Adobe Reader on mobile devices currently doesn't support form filling or JavaScript so while you can store and view PDF files on a number of phones, you can't easily fill out the forms using the Adobe products. There ar ethird party tools that allow you to add comments but I haven't seen anything that will turn the PDF into an APP. 2) Yes - I use DropBox and it works great. 3) You might check out AcrobatUsers.com instead 4) Since forms don't work on the mobile versions, signatures don't either.
