Embedding PDF in Powerpoint - showing filename only not PDF content

Hi all,
I have automated a powerpoint presentation to embed PDF's into a powerpoint presentation...
this all works great but on some machines the content does not show, it only shows as the filename... it is still embeded but I want the content of the PDF to be displayed on the slide... which it does on some machines and I can't see what is different on the PC's that it won't do that on...
The command used to insert the PDF is ...
ActiveWindow.Selection.SlideRange.Shapes.AddOLEObject(Left:=60, Top:=20, FileName:=strOutputPath & "\" & strFilename, link:=msoFalse).Select
which is just an insert object from file command...
Further investigation showed that even trying to do this manually still will not bring in the content in... so then as a test i inserted the PDF in an Excel spreadsheet and the same result... content appears on some PC's some just show the filename only...
PS... I don't have the 'Show as icon' checkbox selected when i'm doing this.
Any pointers in the right direction would be very much appreciated...

OK - so Postscript and EPS are programming languages while PDF is not. So it's not the same thing. But I understand the concept.
An XObject is correct - but a Form XObject NOT a reference XObject. If this is for Acrobat, and you want to do this the quick and easy way, then call over to the addWatermark() method in JavaScript and let it do all the heavy lifting for you. Or, for native plugin code in Acrobat, there is the AFPDFormFromPage() API that will also do the work of creating the necessary CosObj for you.
For PDFLibrary, you will need to do the work yourself as there isn't a high level API call.

Some shows (HD only) not getting flagged in Guide as New

In the FIOS Guide, many shows are correctly flagged as "First Run" on the regular display channels, but not flagged as "First Run" on the exact same HD-version channel.
For example in the guide, bring up Thursday, Sept 26th at 8pm.
Channel 4 shows that a new episode of "Parks and Recreation" will air (its the 1-hour season premiere)
Channel 504 (HD) also shows "Parks and Recreation" in the same timeslot, but its not flagged as "First Run" and thus the series manager doesn't schedule it to record. But both are showing the same episode then.
Some channels are ok - e.g. Channel 2 and 502 both show a new episode of "Big Bang Theory" airing at 8pm.
I have several other examples of this. Therefore to set up recording the new season of TV shows, I either have to schedule the non-HD airing, or schedule all HD airings including repeats.
Any way to update the guide ?

Embedded PDF files do not show in Internet Explorer 11

Hi,
We have several machines that cannot show embedded pdf files in Internet Explorer 11 with Adobe Reader as default pdf reader.
Example from one pc:
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64 – all updates applied.
IE 11 version: 11.0.9600.17239.
Update Versions: 11.0.11 (KB2976627).
Adobe Reader: 11.0.08 (no further updates available).

We only get a blank page with two placeholders with a small black square with a white cross in each.
If we install Foxit Reader on the same pc, and sets it as default reader, everything works.
What do we do to solve the Adobe Reader problem?

We have already tried the TabProcGrowth registry change. It doesn't work. As mentioned, we use IE 11 on Windows 7, and not IE 10 as the article from Microsoft specifies.
As shown in the images above, the registry is set to 1 and the PDF's still don't show up embedded in the browser.
Any other suggestions? Anyone?

Embedded pdf files will not open

Dell Laptop Windows XP up to date, Firefox 4.0, Adobe Reader 10.0.1
Since updating to Firefox 4.0 certain embedded pdf files will not open forcing me to use my Internet Explorer browser to access these files. Tried all of the FAQ suggestions with no relief.
NOTE: I can open previously opened files (Firefox 3.___) but not a new one.

Thank you for the response. I insereted several .pdf files into my MS Word document where they show as Acobat icons. When in MS Word, I am able to double-click on the icons and the files open in Acrobat. I then converted the MS Word document to a .pdf. These icons now only show as pictures and do not open the original inserted .pdf documents.

Links to embedded pdf files not working in iOS reader

I have created a pdf document that links to a variety of embedded pdf files.
When I open this file in the iOS reader on my iPad 3, the links are not active. All of the embedded files are listed in the attachments list, but the links themselves do not launch the attachments.

We only support internal and http links in the current reader,not including links to attachments. However, PDF attachments should be open-able using the attachments button (bottom right). It should also work for password protected documents. If it does not, please share a sample file with us at [email protected] so we can investigate.

Stacks' fan-view not showing filenames?

This has been going on since I first got Leopard:
I have my Downloads-stack/folder set to the fan-view (no particular reason, it jsut looks spiffy), but sooner or later the filenames stop showing up. First it's only some of them, but before long it's all of them.
It's obviously got something to do with the contents of the Downloads folder changing, but I can't really see a pattern.
I've attached a snap of the weirdness in question. I figured it was a common bug, but I haven't been able to find it mentioned anywhere.
Any ideas, besides doing a "sudo killall Dock" or a logout every once in a while?
The system's up to date except for the most recent Sec. Update (the one with the SSH issues), but this has been going on since I got the new Mac Pro with (I believe) 10.5.1 pre-installed.

Not sure you're getting the picture (literally - look at the screenshot again).
This is not about how I label my files/folders or the settings for the stack. This is about a bug causing the filenames to not appear, not be displayed, not be visible next to their respective icons... as the screenshot above shows. It illustrates as directly as possible that all the filenames are missing.
And yes, I can change the stack to display as a grid (as I did for the Documents stack) or as a list, or change its icon to be a stack or whatever. But I like to keep my Downloads stack in the fan view, and when I do that, the filenames are not displayed. I don't know why, but it's fairly irritating.
If anybody's got a workaround, let me know.

have a text convo with the person you want to delete. Go to the top contact in the text convo, hit edit contact, and delete that contact.
That resolution came from another thread on this issue, and this did solve to poster's issue.

Don't panic. OS X 10.5.8 is the most popular PowerPC OS out there. People run it everyday without security breaches, including myself. It isn't Windows!

Using your example and not modifying it, I get the e-mail form filled out correctly and the pdf attached, however, I'm not prompted to sign it.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.

That looks like a perfectly good PDF, but since it's trying to open in Microsoft Word, that means your file association for .pdf files is incorrect. You should change it to point to Adobe Reader instead of Word.

my head on the chopping block! So we have created an image for packaging. The image is a CMYK glass placed on a knockout gradient created from two spot channels.
recently(ready to go to print), we realized there are faint half circle marks next to the glass. But they only show up sometimes. They only show up in Preview, Acrobat(not always) and Illustrator(not always). When I print, it sometimes shows up but not always.
In Photoshop, the glass is silhouetted, and I also made sure there are no left over pixels anywhere.
But the channels look perfect- second image, I cannot see anything, and therefore I cannot fix(retouch anything).
What are we going to do? Is there some glitch that could be happening? Please help, we are about to print an apparently even if we re do this image, it will take weeks to approve for printing....Thank you

Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.

Can you open Applications by navigating to the Applications folder via the Finder? When you write that your computer doesn't show icons, do you mean your Dock icons? Can you see the Dock as all?
