EMERGENCY:sqlcode in pl/sql?

hello,
i have a problem with a while-loop. i have declare a cursor and with a while loop i try to fetch all it's rows. what condition i have to put in order to succeed it? i implement it like:
while sqlstatus = 0 loop
if (proslipsi is null) then
s1 := s1 + nvl(y,0) * 360 + nvl(m,0) * 30 + nvl(d,0);
elsif apolysh <= ews then
s1 := s1 + nvl(y,0) * 360 + nvl(m,0) * 30 + nvl(d,0);
else
          s1 := s1 + (to_number(to_char(ews,'MM'))-1) * 30 + to_number(to_char(ews,'DD')) - (to_number((to_char(proslipsi,'MM')))-1) * 30 - to_number(to_char(proslipsi,'DD')) + 360 * (to_number(to_char(ews,'YYYY')) - to_number(to_char(proslipsi,'YYYY')));
          if ( to_number(to_char(ews,'DD')) <> 31 ) then
               s1 := s1 + 1;
          end if;
fetch proyp into proslipsi, apolysh, y, m, d;
message(to_char(sqlcode));
end if;
end loop;
close proyp;
but it never ends!
please help because it's important!
thanx a lot.

Hello,
Also U can use the for loop.
if ur cursor name is proyp and it has fields f1,f2,f3 etc..
for rec in proyp
loop
if rec.f1 ----
end loop;
Here the advantage is
1. U don't wnat to declare rec
2. U don't want to open and close the cursor.
the loop automatically continues until it has record.
Thank U.

  • Trapping Sqlcode through a shell script

    Hi All,
    I am trying to trap the sqlcode of the sql query which I have just run, for example
    #!/bin/ksh
    SQLSCRIPT="SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL;"
    echo "${LOGIN}\nset heading off;\nset pagesize 0;\nset tab off;\nset feedback off;\n${SQLSCRIPT}" | sqlplus -s
    Now when I run this script I get the following output:
    13-MAY-03
    Now I also want the sqlcode to appear.
    well I just found out that if just add the \nshow sqlcode after the SQLSCRIPT
    It gives be the code value as well
    But it is not efficient.
    Can anyone suggest me a better way to do that.
    Thanks in advance
    KP

    May be you could try out a the script similar to the one provided in another thread:
    rwrqv returns none
    Using such a script you could possibly detect when the last output file is generated.
    Regards,
    Anil.

  • SAP R/3 Installation : Dispatcher not starting up.

    Hi,
       I'm trying to Install SAP R/3 Enterprise ABAP on Windows: Oracle. Central Instance, Database Instance & Gateway Instance Installation went smoothly without any problems.
       But when I tried to start the SAP system the Dispatcher is not starting.
       I'm getting following error which is listed below from various files like dev_wx, dev_ms, stderrx & dev_rfc.

        From the above log, it says that there is problem in database connection. But I am not able to figure out where the problem lies & what are the changes that needs to be done.
       Kindly suggest me what needs to be done.
    Cheers,
    Jeetu

  • Capturing oracle error codes into a variable

    Hi
    Can someone show me how it is possible to save an Oracle defined error code into a variable? What I am trying to do is when a stored procedure fails an Oracle error is raised, such as ORA-xxxx, then pass this code into variable to be saved into a log.
    How do I achieve this?

  • Error: ORA-01012: not logged on

    Hi all,
    i have a program to update 2 tables and will commit every transaction for each table. firstly, my program will commit transaction in Table A then once it's done, it will commit Table B and loop again(both table) until all transactions finish.But at the end of the process, i get the error msg:
    Error: ORA-01012: not logged on
    I suspected this error because of COMMIT issue in my program.
    Kindly need someone to assist me.

  • How to (in Pro*C) pass a cursor variable as a pointer between functions

    I am opening a cursor in a called function that accepts as one argument a pointer to a cursor variable, and a second argument for the sql string defining the cursor select. That works fine, and in that same function can successfully fetch and access the records from the cursor. However, my objective is to fetch the records in another function that calls the first function. I want to pass back to the calling function the pointer to the cursor variable from the first function. In the second (calling) function, is where I want to fetch the records. What I am getting is SQLCODE = -1002 (fetch out of sequence).
    Here is the relevent code in the first called function that calls a PL/SQL package procedure to open the cursor, followed by the code in the second calling procedure where I am attempting to fetch the records:
    /******Called function code starts here ******/
    EXEC SQL INCLUDE SQLCA;
    long db_makeCursor(cursorID, SQLstr)
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    sql_cursor cursorID;      / a pointer to a cursor variable */
    char *SQLstr;
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    long SQLCODE;
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    sql_cursor dbCursor; /* a cursor variable */
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    EXEC SQL WHENEVER SQLERROR DO sql_error();
    dbCursor = *cursorID;
    EXEC SQL EXECUTE
    BEGIN
    db_util_ref_cursor_pkg.open_dbNameCursor( :dbCursor, :SQLstr );
    END;
    END-EXEC;
    return;
    /******Calling function code starts here ******/
    EXEC SQL INCLUDE SQLCA;
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    static PROCLOG PROC_Rec;
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    long retrieveProcesses( _proclog, sqlForProcLog )
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    PROCLOG _proclog;
    char *sqlForProcLog
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    long rc;
    long SQLCODE;
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    sql_cursor dbCursor; /* a cursor variable */
    sql_cursor cursorID;      / a pointer to a cursor variable */
    PROCLOG proclog;
    short end_ts_ind;
    short proc_name_ind;
    short comments_ind;
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    cursorID = &dbCursorName; /* assign a value to the pointer */
    EXEC SQL ALLOCATE :dbCursor;
    rc = dbUtilities_makeCursor( cursorID, sqlForProcLog);
    if (rc == TRUE)
    while (SQLCODE == 0)
    EXEC SQL FETCH :dbCursorName INTO
    :proclog.PROC_ID,
    :proclog.START_TS,
    :proclog.END_TS:end_ts_ind,
    :proclog.PROC_NAME:proc_name_ind,
    :proclog.COMMENTS:comments_ind,
    if (SQLCODE == 0)
    printf("PROC_ID: %d; COMMENTS: %s\n",proclog.PROC_ID, proclog.COMMENTS);
    } /* end retrieveProcesses */

    You need to include a loop...
    for i=0;i<sqlca.sqlerrd[2];i++)
    printf("name %s\n", struct.name)
    This allows you to step through your cursor records!!!

  • Calling a Member Function from within a Cursor in a Procedure

    Hello Folks
    I'm a newbie to oracle and am in the process of learning 10G. My question is:
    I created a type called row_po and defined a member function getCost() which returns the total cost of the order with line items as nested table, which i intend to call from within a procedure. In the procedure my SELECT returns multiple records and hence I need to use a cursor. For each record I've got to display the order_no, qty and order_cost (qty and order_cost are part of a line items nested table). I'm able to get to the order_no and qty but don't know how to call the member function to get the order_cost. Here's my procedure:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE get_podet(part_num in number)
    AS
    CURSOR c2 is
    SELECT *
    FROM tab_po po, TABLE (po.LineItemList_nestab) L
    WHERE L.PartNo = part_num;
    BEGIN
    FOR crec in c2 LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('ORDER NUMBER: ' || crec.PONo);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('LINE QTY: ' || crec.Qty);
    {color:#ff0000}*DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('ORDER VALUE: ' || ''); -- order_cost which should be returned from the member function i've mentioned --*
    {color}END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Failed' || 'SQLCODE: ' || SQLCODE);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('SQL ERROR MESSAGE ' || SQLERRM);
    END;
    The line in red is where i want to call my function getCost() which is a member of tab_po po as mentioned in my SELECT.
    Any thoughts highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards

    One way would be to just run the query in a editor (sqlplus or toad) and see whats the column name.
    Before that can you show us the structure of the type.
    If you declare a table type without an object then the default column name is COLUMN_VALUE else the object filed name is taken.
    Example without object in table type.
    SQL> create or replace type tbl as table of integer
      2  /

    SQL> create or replace function fn return tbl

      7    connect by level <= 10;
      8
      9     return ltbl;
    10  end;

    =============================================================
    i am using oracle 11g as database server.
    No other warnings or error are visible.
    i try the install on Linux and Windows and the error is the same.
    any advice?
    thanks

    Hello,
    Do you have applied all the recommended patches on top of your 11.1.0.6?
    Please check the value of the parameter processes and be sure it is enough high (>500)
    For CDC issue, please check the following metalink note as well, and apply the recommendations - Note 737948.1
    As well, have a look on your limits.conf file to be sure it maches with the kernel recommendations.
    Are you installing Beehive and the database on the same machine?
    Thanks
    Fred

  • Any Suggestion to find nested-nested table levels??

    My Code will dynamically generate nested types of arbitrary depth, create a table with a column of that type and populate it with a simple set of values.

    Why is it So?,Is there any better suggestion to improve my main code??
    Regards,
    S.

    My Code will dynamically generate nested types of arbitrary depth blah blah blah...and what use is that exactly?
    You are popping the create_table variable at line 55. Clearly 450 storage clauses are not going to fit into a 250 byte string.

    This almost works except when I try to print out the attributes I get an error. I beleive I have to override some of the view object framework methods. If so, how do I go about this? Is it the same methods overridden in this example Getting a View Object's Result Rows from a REF CURSOR? http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/03/03/gettingAViewObjectsResultRowsFromARefCursor.html

    Yes. only difference is that your VO will just have one row in it.

  • Help with Cursors

    I have a problem with a Patient and a Vaccinations tables whereby I have to have set business rules:
    (a) No more than 2 vaccinations (action) are allowed per day
    (b) for patients over 85, no more than 1 vaccination (action) per day
    (c) vaccination date no earlier than 1st jan 2008
    (d) chlorea and typhoid vaccinations are not permitted on the same day.
    Code so far:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE vacc1 (pat_id in char, vis_vdate in date,

    Please help, have to build on this existing code with a cursor/select and create a new table naming it NEW_V_RECORD with appropriate primary key etc.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I would recommend coding your proc something like this:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE vacc1 (
       pat_id      IN   CHAR
    , vis_vdate   IN   DATE
    , vis_act     IN   NUMBER
    , vac_vacc    IN   CHAR) AS
       patrow                             patient%ROWTYPE;
       action_over                        EXCEPTION;
       vdate_before_jan                   EXCEPTION;
       patient_age_85_vac_limit           EXCEPTION;
    BEGIN
       -- Lock this patient's row in order to prevent concurrent inserts into vaccinations...
       SELECT     *
             INTO patrow
             FROM patient
            WHERE pid = pat_id
       FOR UPDATE;
       DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Patient Name is: ' || patrow.pname);
       DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Patient''s Adress: ' || TRIM (patrow.address));
       DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('attempting to insert');
       -- Check for invalid situations BEFORE inserting data...
       CASE
          WHEN vis_act > 2 THEN
             RAISE action_over;
          WHEN     patrow.patient_age >= 85 -- I guessed the field name here...
               AND vis_act > 1 THEN
             RAISE patient_age_85_vac_limit;
          WHEN vis_vdate < TO_DATE ('01-JAN-2008'
                                  , 'DD-MON-YYYY') THEN
             RAISE vdate_before_jan;
       END CASE;
       -- If we got this far - we can safely insert data...
       INSERT INTO vaccinations
                   (pid
                  , vdate
                  , action
                  , vaccinated)
            VALUES (pat_id
                  , vis_vdate
                  , vis_act
                  , vac_vacc);
    -- COMMIT; -- Move this to your client application - COMMIT'ing in PL/SQL procedures is usually bad transactional programming practice
    EXCEPTION
       -- No need for rollback statements here - it is automatic when raising errors...
       WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
          raise_application_error (-20000
                                 , 'Patient not found with ID number suggested');
       WHEN action_over THEN
          raise_application_error (-20001
                                 , 'There are more than two vaccinations for this patient');
       WHEN patient_age_85_vac_limit THEN
          raise_application_error (-20002
                                 , 'The patient is older than 85 and received more than one vaccination');
       WHEN vdate_before_jan THEN
          raise_application_error (-20005
                                 , 'Visit date is before 1st January 2008');
    END;
    /Notice that I lock the row via an "SELECT ... FOR UPDATE" - this is very important because you do NOT want two users inserting vaccination data for the same patient at the same time. Due to Oracle's read-concurrency feature (usually very handy) - you can really get burned if you do not serialize access to data. A primary key on vaccinations would take care of this too - but it is safer in my opinion to protect your PL/SQL as well. Read Tom Kyte's book "Effective Oracle by Design" - he goes over this issue in detail with an example room reservation system.
    Good luck!

  • DB2 9.7 error on Solaris 10

    I have installed DB2 9.7 FixPack 0 on Solaris 10.  The one db2 installation is used by two separate SAP installations on the same server.
    On one of the instances, I have enabled AUTO_REORG and set the policy via the AUTOMAINT_GET_POLICYFILE and AUTOMAINT_SET_POLICYFILE.
    On the 2nd instance, this does not work.  I am hoping that maybe you can point me in the right direction.  Below are the errors that are generated:
    From the db2 command:
    ccc63:db2bwq> db2 call sysproc.automaint_get_policyfile('AUTO_REORG', 'reorg.xml') SQL0443N  Routine "SYSPROC.AUTOMAINT_GET_POLICYFILE" (specific name "AUTOMAINT_GET_POLICYFILE") has returned an error SQLSTATE with diagnostic text "".  SQLSTATE=00000

    Hi Jay,
    You should firstly check if there is an policy exist
    for the automatic reorg.
    You can check the automated maintenance policy information using
    SYSPROC.AUTOMAINT_GET_POLICY or SYSPROC.AUTOMAINT_GET_POLICYFILE by
    call sysproc.automaint_get_policyfile( 'AUTO_REORG', 'AutoReorg.xml' )
    is there an XML file called 'AutoReorg.xml' exists at the tmp
    subdirectory under the DB2 instance directory? if not you, then you
    have to use the AUTOMAINT_SET_POLICY system stored procedure to
    configure automatic maintenance for the database. This procedure takes
    two parameters: the type of automatic maintenance to configure; and a
    BLOB containing XML that specifies the configuration. Please refer to
    the link below for details.

  • Two Oracle Questions

    i am not being able to create a table with varchar2(32767). i want to avoid long because it has been deprecated from 8i.
    how can i know what is the error name corresponding to an oracle exception number SQLCODE? for example ORA-01422 corresponds to TOO_MANY_ROWS. so if i am expecting more than one rows in my select... into clause, then i can define WHEN TOO_MANY_ROWS THEN in my exception and handle it. or do i have to use when OTHERS only

    What is Oracle version??
    32767 is the limit in PL/SQL. SQL has less limit. In SQL maximum length can be 4000 only. See the link for more details

    how can i know what is the error name corresponding to an oracle exception number SQLCODE? for example ORA-01422 corresponds to TOO_MANY_ROWS. so if i am expecting more than one rows in my select... into clause, then i can define WHEN TOO_MANY_ROWS THEN in my exception and handle it. or do i have to use when OTHERS onlyWhen Oracle raise any exception you can use SQLERRM to know the error message. Oracle have provided a function also SQLERRM() in which you can pass the Oracle error number and you will get the error message.
